Got to say, I'm surprised how much it took off.
There was a bit of a spike after the first Twitter post last week, and I thought it peeked.
Then there was a massive spike of interest and a lot of fan artists over the weekend.
And it still kept its momentum.
I can't tell if its growing or shrinking, but its going.
I wonder if Nintendo might make something official about it, though the company has always been a bit conservative and this edges into trans territory that might make some of their employees and audience uncomfortable.
I'd be really happy if they did make something official about it.
I wonder how long this 'sub fandom' will last.
Honestly my only complaint here is how few artists seem to actually keep Bowser's general personality instead of just doing either standard bashful anime girl or some kind of suave, grinning domme. Come on, have you people met Bowser, he's a dumbass with the social skills of a turnip!
Design is pretty neat though.
His personality does vary sometimes and over some scenes, depending on writer and many other things, but I agree overall Bowser's a big dumb brute as his usual portrayal.
Is that the fast food icon as Wendy combined with Wario or Waluigi with the super crown?
I think the trend overall is interesting, the crown gives a 'canon excuse' to the concept.
And personification and genderswaps have always had some popularity, sometimes growing, sometimes as more an under current.
Though the crown design usually adds a crown and a Princess Peach-like dress.
Though it varies how much the artist 'Peach - ify' the art. The original looks like a mix of Bowser and Peach traits, with a heavy leaning to Peach aesthetic. Others prefer a different one.
The Japanese manga industry always had some popularity with moe personifications.
There was Strike Witches, Kantai Collection, sort of Girls Und Panzer, and a lot of monster girl and furry type things too recently.
Idols or shows like K-on could arguably be one for instruments or music.
