The Rose's Ocean (RWBY/One Piece)

Speaking of which, I think Zoro and Qrow would get along when it comes to drinking and kicking ass.
Eh, it might just be because he has a monsterous tolerance for the stuff, but Zoro knows not to get his drinking get away from him to the point of compromising his effectiveness. Qrow has a least one scene of being bum useless because he was drinking too hard. That's kinda the point of Ruby expressing worry about drinking in the chapter, she's seen how badly Qrow went, she doesn't want to go the same way.

Loguetown
"Ruby," Ruby woke to the shake of her shoulder, Zoro standing over her, "We're gonna land soon. Come on.

Ruby stood up, feeling her bones creek as she did and looking out over Loguetown. For something renowned with a title such as "The Town of the Beginning and End", it was deceptively simple, grey buildings stretched across the entire island.

"Alright," Nami said as they pulled into port and dropped the anchor, pulling out several purses, "this is your allowance for when we're in Loguetown. It's enough for you to buy essentials. And I want to stress that, essentials. Zoro, swords, not booze. Sanji, provisions, not girls. Usopp, ammunition, not trinkets. If it isn't essential to us surviving the Grand Line, we don't need it. Am I understood?"

"Yeah, yeah," Zoro said, taking his purse, "I got it."

"Of course, my dear," Sanji said.

"Right," Usopp said.

"Ruby," Nami saif, "I'm trusting you with the biggest allowance because I need you to pick up some extra equipment for the Merry. A portable forge, charcoal, tools, things like that, on top of whatever you need for your scythe."

"Crescent Rose," Ruby said.

"Crescent Rose," Nami said, "if everything goes well, we'll meet back at the Merry in a day or so."

"Aren't I the captain?" Luffy said, clearly joking.

"Do you know what we need to survive in the Grand Line?" Nami asked.

"Nope!"

"Then trust me on this. Oh, and another thing. Ruby, Luffy, try to keep your heads down. You're wanted criminals now, and while I'm sure Loguetown is no stranger to those, that doesn't change the fact that this is where they executed Gold Roger. They won't hesitate to execute you."

Not like Ruby wouldn't deserve it, if the Bounty Poster was true.

"Ussop should probably pick up a close combat weapon, even if it's just a dagger," Ruby threw out, "it's not safe to only have a long range weapon.L

"Good point," Zoro said, "You want to come with me, Usopp?"

"I don't need a close combat weapon," Usopp denied.

"Your funeral," Ruby and Zoro said as one.

Zoro stepped into the weapon shop with a purse holding 20,000 berris, eyes roaming the swords on the walls. Arming swords, broadswords, dao, and, of course, katanas. Perfect.

"I'm looking for some katanas," he said to the man behind the counter.

"How much do you have to spend?"

"Twenty thousand," Zoro said.

The red nosed man nodded, eyes lighting up, "I can get you a well made katana for that price, I-"

"I need two," Zoro said.

"Two? But you already have one?" The man said.

"Never hurts to have a spare, does it?" Zoro lied lightly. He was associated with a Pirate crew now, if people knew Roronoa Zoro was in Loguetown, it wasn't too much of a stretch to assume Luffy and Ruby were in town.

Behind him, an energy seemed to rise up, drawing Zoro's attention to a bin of shoddily made swords. Behind him, the door swung open, letting in a young woman with short black hair and glasses on her forehead, as Zoro focused on her, his grip on Wado Ichimonji's scabbard grew tight. She looked, she looked, she looked.

An image of another darked haired girl flashed across his mind. An old friend, long dead now. Kuina…

"Hello!" She said to the shopkeeper, "do you have Shigure serviced?"

"Yes, I'll go get it," he said, before saying to Zoro, "take a look around, pick out some swords. I can't promise you the best I can sell for two, but I can promise well made ones, at least."

The aura behind Zoro blazed harder, drawing his eyes back to the bin of bargain swords. He began to walk towards it when the woman focused on him and gasped.

"Is that the Wado Ichimonji?" She asked, rushing over to look the sheathed katana over, "it is, isn't it? Where did you get a Great Grade Legendary Sword?"

"It was a gift," Zoro said, trying his best to ignore how much she looked like Kuina, and continued to walk towards the bin.

"Someone gave you something like that as a gift?" The woman said.

"Yes," Zoro said bluntly, eyes landing on the blade releasing the aura. Drawing it from the bin, he looked it over, a red-brown tsuka and equally red-brown sheath, with a golden, rounded cross shaped tsuba. The woman gave a gasp, eyes widening and she pulled out a small book as Zoro drew the katana from the sheath, revealing a blade with a pure white edge.

"That's the Sandai Kitetsu!" She said, "What's a Grade sword like that doing in a bargain bin?"

Zoro felt his Aura flow into the blade, a hunger flowing back into him. A hunger for red flesh, for blood, for death.

Well, well, well, Kitetsu, you were an interesting sword.

"Here's that- hey! No, no, no!" The shopkeeper said as he walked out with a katana with a petal shaped guard, "any sword but that! Literally, I'll give you the most expensive sword in the shop, just not that one!"

"Why not?" Zoro asked.

"It's cursed! Everyone who's ever wielded it has died horrible deaths! I don't need your life on my conscience!"

"Cursed, eh?" Zoro said, "let's test that curse, why don't we?"

Kitetsu pulsed, ready as Zoro threw the blade high into the air and held out his arm. The girl gasped, while the shopkeep yelped.

"You'll lose your arm you fool-!"

Seconds before it hit, Kitetsu's thirst for blood died a bit, and it twirled around Zoro's arm harmlessly and sank three quarters of the way into the wooden floor. Zoro grinned, reaching down and drawing in from the ground and sheathing it with a snap, "I'll take it."

"Give me a second," the man said, before rushing from the room. After a minute, he came back with another katana, "I'll sell you both for the full twenty thousand. This is Yubashiri, one of the Fifty Skillful Grade swords. It's the best sword I have in the shop and if you can control the Sandai Kitetsu's curse, you deserve it."

Zoro took the blade, feeling it. Unlike the Wado Ichimonji's spry excitement and Kitetsu's excited bloodlust, this one had a slow, lethargic energy to it.

Zoro dropped the purse on the counter.

Ruby had just stepped out of the building, having paid to have a small portable forge delivered to the Merry the same day, when her senses screamed at her and she turned her neck into the hardest wood she could and activated her Aura full blast. The red slash of energy that smashed into her throat seconds later still felt like it should have crushed her trachea. Throwing out her hands, she dug them into the wall and stopped her backwards movement. People began to spread out from between her and the source of the attack, and Ruby felt her eyes widen.

A black bandana covered one eye, the other, a deep blue, stared murder at Ruby, red black horns slicking on either side of his red hair.. He was wearing a black long coat with a red floral print, and in the place of his chokuto he held a plain, unadorned katana in a regular sheath with a rifle on his back. He was a man Ruby knew more by reputation and name than by appearance, they had never seen each other before after all, but what a reputation it was. Abusing one teammate, maiming another, traumatizing them both.

He was also supposed to be dead.

"Adam Taurus," Ruby spat with as much vitriol as she felt, and coating her body with her Aura. Adam walked forwards faux casually.

"Ruby Rose," Adam all but drawled, before drawing his sword with lightning speed. The plain blade hit against her wooden cheekbone and skipped into the air. Ruby slammed her foot into his gut, kicking him back, "I'll admit, I didn't expect to find you so quickly… Not that I'm going to complain."

"Aren't you supposed to be dead?" Ruby snarled, drawing Crescent Rose off her back and deploying it into a whirl of mecha shift.

"I woke up here after Blake stabbed me," Adam said, apparently conveniently ignoring that from what they had said, Yang had also stabbed him, "and I was hoping, so much, that someone from your damn team would appear here too. And now…"

Adam rushed forwards, drawing the simple katana from its sheath, at the same time, Ruby turned her left foot to wood, pulling it back and slamming it tip first into Adam's guard. His sword skipped across her skin as it turned bark and time paused for a second, "MagnHILD!"

Then the shockwave of Aura exploded out from the tip of Ruby's foot, sending him flying back and past the gathered crowd.

"Get out of here!" Ruby ordered, and when they paused, she snapped, "Go!"

Adam whipped the rifle off his back, firing a musket ball at Ruby. Ruby let the bullet skip off her skin as she rushed forwards, swinging Crescent Rose for Adam's spine. He span the katana in his hand so it was backhanded, catching the scythe blade. All it did, though, was slow the blow down enough to stop it from bisecting him, instead throwing him across the ground.

Adam clicked his rifle into its second chamber, firing at Rose with one hand. It hit her Aura and bounced off, before she swung her hand down and sent five waves of Aura from her sharpened fingertips. Adam snapped open his sword, absorbing the attacks and he charged forwards, slamming the hilt of his sword into her gut, only for it to turn to wood.

"So you ate a Devil Fruit," Adam said. That made things more irritating. Which type? Not Zoan. But was she creating wood over her body or turning to wood?

Rose didn't respond, just appearing in his guard and slamming her foot into his guard again. Adam pushed his will to hurt her into his sword alongside his Aura, turning the sword black with a flowing red pattern. He charged forwards, swinging his sword for Rose's neck only to slash through rose petals.

So Haki didn't work on her Semblance. Good to know. Spinning, Adam thrust his sword forwards as she resolidified, stabbing through the wood around her gut and drawing a gasp of pain that caused a grin to spread across Adam's face.

"You like it?" Adam taunted, "it's called Haki, it lets me punch right through your Devil Fruit. You think-"

Adam was forced to jump back, tearing the blade from her gut, as she stabbed forwards with her fingers turned to blades aimed for his good eye. He watched her Aura flow around the edges of the wound, healing it slowly but surely as vines lashed around inside it. Rose turned back into petals and surged forwards, reforming upside down with another kick. Adam barely drew his katana in time, catching the kick with it. The shockwave exploded a second later, shattering the ground below him.

It was a distraction.

Adam felt the scythe blade loop around him, barely spinning to feel it glance off his ribs instant of bisecting him in two. Seconds later, the other foot slammed home on his forehead, another Auric Emission blasting through his body and rattling his bones before he was thrown across the ground.

"Halt!" A Marine called, a firing squad forming, "Red Bloom Rose, SDC Taurus, you are under arrest for crimes against-"

"Don't-" Adam snarled, sending a bullet into the head of the the offending Maine, "Call me that!"

The scythe blade looped around his neck, and Adam sheathed his katana, spinning and drawing it in a flash of red and black energy and rose petals. Rose tilted her head at the last second, but the tip of the blade still caught the corner of her lip, tearing a slash from there to the tip of the ear, leaving a notch in it. Rose disintegrated into rose petals, disappearing down an alleyway as it began to rain.

Running away, was she?

He would see about that.

"Sir!" Smoker took one eye off the execution about to happen to look at the Marine who rushed into the square, saluting, "I have a report!"

"Go ahead," Smoker said.

""SDC" Adam Taurus and "Red Bloom" Ruby Rose were seen fighting! The last report is that they were moving towards the docks!"

What the hell was a Revolutionary doing in Loguetown? And why was he fighting a pirate known for killing an entire Marine base?

Though if anyone believed that, Smoker had an island in Paradise to sell them. Rumor had been for years Marine Branch 16 had been on the take. They had probably had on of the CPs look into it and had them executed for that.

"Zoro! Nami! Usopp! Sanji! Ruby!" Strawhat called out, drawing Smoker's gaze back to the execution stand, where he was giving a broad grin, "Sorry, but it looks like I'm dead!"

For a second, Smoker saw an image of another pirate, one with a black mustache and neck length black hair, grinning like the devil he was before starting the hellish age they lived in.

Then there was a bright flash of light and the unholy roar of thunder. When Smoker could finally see again, it was Strawhat putting on his… Well, his straw hat, the execution platform still sparking with leftover electricity.

"After them!" Smoker ordered as Strawhat, the Pirate Hunter and a blond haired man ran out of the square. Smoker turned his lower body to smoke, flying after them in time to see a storm of rose petals reform on the deck of their ship. Seconds later, SDC came charging out of the alley. Smoker hesitated for a second, before making his decision.

"White Out!" Smoker exploded into smoke, surging towards SDC and Strawhat- only to stop with a gasp of a sensation he hadn't felt in years.

Pain.

SDC had thrust his sword into the smoke of White Out, and pain burned in Smoker's shoulder, distracting him long enough for the Strawhats to get onto their ship and begin to sail away.

SDC was the bigger threat anyways.

Ruby watched as Adam vanished into the distance, feeling her Devil Fruit struggling to heal the injury in her cheek. If Adam was here, did that mean others could be here?

If so, she had to find them.

"Ruby," Nami said, "come here, let me stich up that injur-

Ruby used small vines to suture the wound closed.

"Guys," Ruby said, turning towards them.

"I think I found my goal."

I enjoy the idea of Ruby already setting herself a goal, hopefully that'll help her cheer up a bit and integrate with the crew more.

"Yeah, yeah," Zoro said, taking his purse, "I got it."
I wonder if it will be the same like canon where Nami holds Zoro in a ridiculous debt or don't do that since there's Ruby and her somber state to be worried about.

"I don't need a close combat weapon," Usopp denied.

"Your funeral," Ruby and Zoro said as one.
Ironic as Usopp used his Usopp Hammer as a close range weapon like how he took out Chew repeatedly.

Zoro felt his Aura flow into the blade, a hunger flowing back into him. A hunger for red flesh, for blood, for death.
I am so excited for Zoro's Semblance to form, probably the three headed Asura form he somehow manifested against Kaku in Enies Lobby arc.

The red slash of energy that smashed into her throat seconds later still felt like it should have crushed her trachea.
Logia regeneration is your best friend.

"I woke up here after Blake stabbed me," Adam said, apparently conveniently ignoring that from what they had said, Yang had also stabbed him, "and I was hoping, so much, that someone from your damn team would appear here too. And now…"
It's hilarious that Adam Taurus never questioned of having another chance of life so that he can continue his bloodlust.

"So you ate a Devil Fruit," Adam said. That made things more irritating. Which type? Not Zoan. But was she creating wood over her body or turning to wood?
Sounds like Adam had encountered some Zoans during his time in the Revolutionary Army. Probably Vice-Admiral Onigumo or Dalmatian who are Zoans.

"You like it?" Adam taunted, "it's called Haki, it lets me punch right through your Devil Fruit. You think-"
The classic "Explain Your Power To The Enemy" trope and it'd be funny to see Ruby comment on it but let it so long she knows and use it to her advantage.

"Halt!" A Marine called, a firing squad forming, "Red Bloom Rose, SDC Taurus, you are under arrest for crimes against-"

"Don't-" Adam snarled, sending a bullet into the head of the the offending Maine, "Call me that!"
Lmao, the World Government can be good and bad at giving epithets to wanted criminals.

What the hell was a Revolutionary doing in Loguetown? And why was he fighting a pirate known for killing an entire Marine base?
Smoker fell for the World Government propaganda even though he was known for calling out bullshit like when he angrily protested of being given credit of beating Crocodile.

Then there was a bright flash of light and the unholy roar of thunder. When Smoker could finally see again, it was Strawhat putting on his… Well, his straw hat, the execution platform still sparking with leftover electricity.
There were theories claiming that it was Monkey D. Dragon who intervened by using his Devil Fruit that can control the weather.

her Devil Fruit struggling to heal the injury in her cheek.
First, Mihawk and now Adam using Haki on Ruby. She is gonna need to increase her Logia defenses in the Paradise.

"I think I found my goal."
Ruby's dream is to find her friends after seeing that if Adam Taurus is here, that means they are here as well. Probably even finding dead friends and loved ones who are alive in the world of One Piece.

I am so excited for Zoro's Semblance to form, probably the three headed Asura form he somehow manifested against Kaku in Enies Lobby arc
We have seen Zoro's Semblance. It's a massively enhanced resonance with swords. As he says last chapter, he feels more in tune with Wado Ichimonji than ever before, and the same is true for the Sandai Kitetsu.

Smoker fell for the World Government propaganda even though he was known for calling out bullshit like when he angrily protested of being given credit of beating Crocodile
He does call it out as bullshit in the next paragraph though.

I might take a extra day or two off writing, I feel burned out and not quite sure where to go next. Ruby's a lot less moros than planned, and whipe I do think that's a good thing, it's still hard to think. I know they need to do the barrel scene, then reverse mountain and Laboon, it just isn't coming.

Isn't it where Straw Hats meet Vivi in her Miss Wednesday persona who tried to shoot Laboon? And after taking her and Mr. 9, they go to Whiskey Peak where Igaram as Mr. 8 and the group of Baroque Works members greet them as friendly people before proceeding to try capture them.... only to be made as target practice of Zoro wanting to test out his two new swords?

In your story, Zoro has Aura and he would want to see if the shield of the soul Ruby unlock would work when fodder try to hit him with guns and swords. Out of curiosity but after that, he won't use it against powerful enemies that can give him a fight of his life.

I know what happens at Laboon and why I need to write it, it's just that I want to get to Whiskey Peak so badly I, paradoxically, don't want to write Laboon.

I, paradoxically, don't want to write Laboon.
I mean Laboon was important as he's connected to Brook who wanted to reunite with him and play the song he and Rumbar Pirates made before they died even as a skeleton with an afro.

Plus I doubt Ruby would be that heartless to not feel sorry for Laboon after learning from Crocus that he missed his friends like how she missed hers and wanted to reunite with them.

I know it needs to happen, it wouldn't make sense to skip it (sideeyes 4Kids doing exactly that like morons) it's just working up the energy to do it.

I don't really want to do the barrel scene at the moment, bit it just fwwls wrong to skip it as it's such a signature scene to OP, and I'm just not energetic enough for Laboon. Part of it mught be that my meds are messed up (again), so I'll take a few days off and then try writing it.

@ThatOnePsycho take your time - think it through and really feel it.

It occurs to me that Ruby might be able to feel some kind of emotional connection with Laboon's story herself. She's going into the Grand Line to find lost loved ones now, people she'd lost hope of seeing again.

Laboon's story might resonate with her and draw out that optimistic spirit she displayed strongly in early RWBY - if only to encourage Laboon that the Straw Hats will keep the new promise made.

You know... Ruby's bounty might actually come back to bite the World Government in the butt. If Smoker ever comes across 'survivors' from that base Ruby attacked and discovers that no one was killed, or discovers evidence that the Marines were all slaughtered in a manner that Ruby is not capable of, it might start Smoker questioning the WG, possibly culminating in a mutiny along the lines of the one in "This Bites."

Smoker implies in chapter that he's aware, or at least heavily suspects, that Ruby was framed.

He would still go after the Straw Hats anyway out of principle or pride after they broke his perfect record of catching every pirate from leaving Loguetown to the Grand Line.
Definitely, especially since Adam escapes too. It's just that he already knows that the WG can do shady shit, and suspects that they did for Ruby. It's only at Alabasta that he realizes how deep it can go.

But more to the point of it being "This Bites", Smoker doesn't have someone like Cross to offer him a third party to the World Government, and he does legitimately believe they're better than Pirated. So really, I can't see Smoker Mutanizing

True, plus you did stated that you don't want to crib ideas from This Bites because doing so is insulting and just because it's a really popular One Piece fic, it doesn't mean everyone must follow their lead.

Shout-outs are one thing but basing off everything from This Bites is another.

Hey, I wanted to say (and this isn't really required to be written) that there a gap in between episodes Loguetown and Reverse Mountain. Called the Millennium Dragon to 2-3 episode. It could be a good break from the more emotional and impactful ones.

The Millennium Dragon arc (other than being filler) borks up the pacing really badly, so I'm not gonna do it.

Laboon 1
Luffy stared at Ruby, who was smiling despite the injury on her face. She looked happier than Luffy had seen her since they had got their bounties and-

And Luffy couldn't help but feel so happy about that. He hadn't shown it as much as the rest of the crew, had trusted Ruby to pull through on her own, but he had been worried about her since then.

The rain hit them all as they crested a giant wave, Usopp clinging to the mast. Nami pointed at something in the distance, a light from a lighthouse, "there it is! The lighthouse on the cape of Reverse Mountain! Once we pass that, it's a straight course to the Grand Line! We're almost there!"

"Then let's have a little ceremony for it," Sanji said, pulling a barrel into the middle of the group and planting his foot on it heel first, "To find the All Blue!"

Zoro smiled, putting his foot next to Sanji's, "to become the World's Greatest Swordsman!"

Nami came next, eyes sparkling as she did, "to make a map of the whole world!"

Ruby added her foot next, grinning wide enough that several of the stitches on her cheek snapped, "to find my friends and a way home!"

Luffy added his foot, throwing his fist into the air as he did, "to become King of the Pirates!"

"You guys…" Usopp started, before swallowing and smacking his foot down on the barrel, "to become a brave warrior of the sea!"

"To the Grand Line!" They called as one, and rushed to their positions on the ship, Zoro, Usopp and Sanji at the sails, Ruby at the helm, Luffy in the headpiece, Nami running around giving orders to them all. They aimed for the river running up Reverse Mountain and Luffy laughed as they came through the clouds before the Merry tipped downwards and they began to rush forwards.

—-

Zoro pulled a line tight as they fought the flow of the river, feeling the rain begin to fade as they ascended through the cloud line. Finally, they peaked and Zoro stared out over the clouds. Below them lay the world's most dangerous sea. One where their dreams would come true, or they would die trying.

Wado Ichimonji and Kitetsu hummed in their sheaths, making it clear what they thought about that.

The Merry tipped, and the lines snapped taunt as they began to fly forwards. Zoro grabbed onto the line ship, catching Usopp as he slid towards the prow of the Merry. Keeping an eye on Luffy, he saw Luffy hadn't so much as budged while Curly Brow gripped the other hand rail with a hand around Nami's waist.

"Get ready!" Nami called,"We make one mistake here and we'll be dashed against the Red Line!"

"No pressure then," Ruby growled as she fought the helm, roots visibly digging into the Merry to keep her in place, "Get ready, boys and girls, because here! We! Go!"

They finally tipped over the top of the giant mountain and began to scream down the mountain. Zoro could hear Ruby fight the helm behind him as he stared out over the approaching cloudline. They were here, they were officially on the half of the Red Line that meant they were in the Grand Line.

Across Reverse Mountain, Zoro could see the remains of ships that had been dashed against the rocks. He felt the Merry tilt beneath their feet as Ruby span the wheel to dodge them, and at the sheep shaped figurehead of the Merry, Luffy was laughing like a loon.

A deep groaning came through the air, and Zoro called out over it and the rushing wind, "Do you hear that!?"

"It's just the wind!" Nami called, "at this speed it would sound weird!"

Zoro wasn't so sure about that, but wrapped his hand around the line as they burst out of the cloudline and practically went horizontal, just the aft and rudder of the ship touching the water. And then, finally, they crashed home at the bottom of Reverse Mountain. Everyone, except for Luffy and Ruby, flew forwards, Zoro's arm protesting as he stopped his forward momentum with the rope but was forced to drop Usopp, who crashed to the deck with a groan. Across from him, Curly Brows twisted so he hit the deck Instead of Nami, and a glance back showed that ever Ruby wad leaning against the wheel, her roots having torn up a couple of boards.

"We did it," Nami said, popping up with a sigh of relief and then a giddy laugh, "We made it to the Grand Line!"

"And it was an entrance and a ha- guys, is it just me or is there a giant whale in front of us?" Ruby asked, causing everyone to focus on the prow of the ship, where the figurehead had snapped off and-

Yeah, that was a big damn whale, if Zoro had ever seen one. It's eye, alone, was bigger than the Going Merry, and the rest of its body extended a good way up Reverse Mountain.

"Stupid whale!" Luffy yelled, stretching his arm back. Oh, crap no- "you broke my Captain's seat!"

The fist snapped forwards in a Gumu Gumu Pistol, smacking into the whale's eye. Everyone went silent before the whale submerged. Then, as fast as it had done that, it erupted out of the water and swallowed the Merry whole, leaving the figurehead behind.

Ruby was silent for a long moment as they went down the whale's gullet, before finally speaking, "guys?"

"Yeah?" Sanji asked.

"Our captain is a moron."

"Yep."

Before they could say more, they entered… A brightly lit sky with a small island on the sea?

What the what?

"Uh… I know I have a few screws loose, but-"

"No, I see it too," Sanji said, pulling out his tobacco box and beginning to roll a cigarette. Usopp nodded, turning in a circle.

"What is this place?" He asked, and Ruby shrugged, leaving the helm.

"I doubt it's heaven. That's too lucky for us."

Ruby's eyes landed on the building on the island, out of it stepped a man with hair like a flower. He walked over to a reclining chair with a newspaper under his arm sitting down and opening it.

"Hey!" Usopp said, obviously freaking out, "Who are you? Where are we!? We have cannons I'm warning you!"

The man glared at them, a subtle energy rising off of him as he said, "Try it, and someone will die."

"You?" Ruby joked.

"Exactly. Girl, I'll be right back," the man disappeared into the building before coming out with a first aid kit, diving into the water before swimming to the Merry and grabbing a barrel, shoving it towards Ruby, "Sit down, let me look at that injury."

"Who are you?" Zoro asked, hand caressing Wado Ichimonji.

"Isn't it a bit rude to ask someone's identify before giving your own?" The man said after another round of glaring, before saying, "I'm Crocus, Lighthouse Keeper and Doctor, I'm 71 years old, 6'8" I'm a Gemini, blood type XF-"

"Alright that's enough information!" Nami said.

"Sit down, girl," Crocus repeated, and Ruby did.

"Vines? Devil Fruit or did you just use what you had on hand?"

"Devil Fruit, Mori Mori no Mi," Ruby said.

"Logia type? Must have run into someone with Haki. Surprising, you don't see many of those in the Blues. Give me a second, I'll stitch it up right," Crocus said, pulling on a pair of disposable surgical gloves before gently taking Ruby's chin and grabbing a pair of scissors, "strange, it's already begun to heal. How long have you had this injury?"

"A few hours," Ruby said, "my Aura's probably healing it."

"Aura? I swear, they're inventing new techniques every day now. Anyways, this is definitely going to scar, but in the end it'll probably be pretty minor. Noticeable? Yes. But nothing disfiguring, not once I'm done with it. What's your name?"

"Ruby."

"You aren't afraid of needles are you, Ruby?"

"No," unlike Blake.

"Right then, I'm going to stitch up this wound. Try not to pop them once I'm done if you don't want it getting worse. Whoever tried to give you a Glassglow grin did a piss poor job at it. Which you shouldn't be complaining about, because it means the scar will be lesser.

"Where are we?" Sanji asked.

"I figured that was obvious, considering you've been eaten," Crocus snarked, "You're inside Laboon. And-"

Before they could say anything, the entire area shook, revealing a metal bottom to the "island" Crocus had come from. The old man gave a sad sigh, continuing to stitch up Ruby, "There he goes again."

"What do you mean?" Nami asked.

"Laboon is ramming his head against the Red Line, as he has for the past fifty years. I'll tell you the story when I'm done patching up Ruby and we gwt out of him. The door is over there, by the way."

"Why's there a door in a whale!?" Usopp demanded.

"You get bored after fifty years," Crocus said, waving his hand at the sky, "same with the ceiling."

Yeah, that scanned, given the insanity of this world so far.

"Logia type? Must have run into someone with Haki. Surprising, you don't see many of those in the Blues. Give me a second, I'll stitch it up right," Crocus said
