The Poor Man's Batman (Babsverse Quest)

Indeed. Barbara Gordon wielded far more power and had a far more of a lasting impact as Oracle the tech genius/super team leader than she did as Batgirl the sidekick.

Granted, there's no reason we can't kick ass and run our own team when the time comes. We'll probably need to spend a while proving ourselves on the street level before we could move up to any kind of leadership anyway. Not to mention that with the altered universe/timeline there's no guarantee the members of the Birds of Prey are even around.
once we have experience and a reputation we can swing that into scaling up.

We could probably do the part of vigilante hacker if we want on the side.

So @Lunaryon quick questing, we will be allowed to choose our theme right? Because unless Batman recruits us I'd rather not go around calling ourselves Bat girl.

i think part of the early quest will be earning batman's interest. or at least that's the feeling i'm getting and part of why i voted for the island as our starting point.

This quest was inspired by MatthewRHumphrey's idea for a Batgirl Animated Series, which had Babs becoming Batgirl because Jim Trusts Batman and she wants him to extend that trust to Batgirl before revealing that she is Batgirl.

But if you guys would like I see no problem with going another way.

The other reason is that one of the major issues you are going to have to deal with is monetary. You don't have the money for a Grappling Hook Gun... But combining a Boomerang and a rope should work roughly as well...I hope

You can sneak into the Shop Class room with scrap metal to make your own Batarangs... ect ect.

You don't have the money to become the same level of Tech as Batman, and so you are going to have to make do with what you can.

Yeah for money we're probably going to have to do a touch of vigilante looting here and there.

works for me. i have an excuse to get creative now.

That sounds like a fun challenge, and presents a natural hurdle to overcome as we move forward. She'll never get too far into being a super-hacker when she's only got the budget for a basic home computer.

Plus this could give us a nice long-term goal to work towards as far as expanding our resources.

Well we can't take too much and we can't just buy what we need in one go. The best option is to convince our father that we have a part time job and explain away the money that way.
Nah, just loot all the cash from one or two big drug house, and we can be set for some time. And keep it isolated from our normal life. Keep ALL the stuff isolated.

we can hide some of our gear purchases as household expenses. We have barbera start a mini herb garden in either the living room or the kitchen window and buy potassium nitrate to mix in with food waste to make compost for it. we can siphon some off for making smoke bombs.

Easy and South Channel still have the lead.

Yeah, keeping our vigilante cash and resources as separate from our legitimate as possible is a must. Though it would be hilarious if we got outed as Batgirl because Barbara got audited by the IRS due to her lifestyle exceeding her taxable income.

"Ms. Gordon, how exactly could you afford to spend fifty thousand dollars on high-end electronics on a librarian's salary?"

"Amazon had good deals."

Of course, what I mean is we keep nothing from our night career in the house. And I mean NOTHING.

Our dad is the Police Commissioner and most likely the only good cop on the force, even I'd we don't bring our enemies home with us, he might.

Edit: Ninja'd. Twice.

if batman and gordon are helping one another then the house should be somewhat safe as the Bat won't want any of the villians having leverage over the only ligit cop. the house gets attacked we just need to escape and evade till batman shows up.

I don't feel like we should rely on Batman exclusively as our home defense strategy. I imagine the dude's pretty busy doing his own thing most of the time, and he's not omniscient either.

Escape and evasion shouldn't be shelved though, because running away keeps our identity intact, but at the same time I think I'd rather some gadgets laying around just in case. Having some equipment stashed at home also means we wouldn't lose everything if our base of operations is inevitably compromised for whatever reason.

my idea for smoke bombs would be easy to justify as long as we use a different recipe then what we use when fighting crime (white sugar for home, brown or raw for fighting crime. white produces thinner, whiter smoke while brown or raw produces much heavier smoke).
