The Plan behind the Bat - A Wayne Enterprises Planquest

[] Attempt to form a rapport with the Cat Woman: The Cat Woman has offered you her services, and you've established a working relationship. For now, though, the only thing that connects her to you is money. Perhaps it would be worth meeting with her and trying to establish a rapport. If she knows you mean well for the city, it might help establish some loyalty on her part. (90/200)
I'd still like to continue this and focus on civilian goods.

[] Plan: Looking to the Future
-[] Construct a new factory x2 (2 AP $300)
--[] Write-In: Solar panels
-[] Hire John Henry Irons (1 AP $15)
-[] Hire Pamela Lilian Isley (1 AP $15)
-[] Co-ordinate with WayneTech (1 AP $150)
-[] New corporate security rules (1 AP $20)
-[] Install new locks and key pads (1 AP $50)
-[] Fund a scholarship (1 AP $80)
-[] Spend time with Bruce Wayne (1 AP)
-[] Attempt to form a rapport with the Cat Woman (1 AP)

Overall cost: 630
This is very much a rough draft plan to try and get several projects started and get the ball rolling while we increase our security.

[] Inform Bruce Wayne about the Cat Woman: Wayne doesn't seem to care much about the company, but he might have thoughts about you teaming up with a criminal. It could be best to see him and inform him of what you're doing before he figures it out by himself. (Free)

We did this last turn so it should have strike-trough on it. Also the link to the Batsuit V1.0 is broken in both the Q1 Results and the Informational Threadmark.

Now as for the turn itself we need to do the Civilian Market Research so we know what to invest to now.

It might be worthwhile to do a different one in the chain instead regarding the Catwoman bonus, since I read that as "Hire Catwoman to get us guns" which is really wild.
I went with this one because it's one of the two security actions were it's cheaper to hire her to do it (since it costs $25 per a Catwoman action rather then the listed price) and I trust her more with getting guns then I do with getting new locks.

I'd take the AP off of Research Lesser Companies and Politic and place them on Gotham Steel instead. Acquiring companies is expensive, especially when your stock price* and credit rating are as low as ours are. Politic, meanwhile, only has a 25% chance of completion and costs all of our Sway. If it fails, we won't be able to finish it until we get more.

As for why Gotham Steel, I figure it will help us in a few different ways. It will improve our income, which we know is the best way to get more Sway. It's also improving a flagship product of Wayne Enterprises as a whole, which is great in terms of optics. It's a symbol with which we can bring hope regarding Wayne Industrial, and hope has quite a few benefits. It improves our stock price, credit rating, employee morale, and might even get us a bit more Sway. Mind you 250 progress isn't nothing, but with Fox's bonus to construction actions, I think we should be able to get the job done by the end of Q4.

*These deals are rarely all cash. Usually quite a bit of stock changes hands as well.

It's only a difference of $10 when we have a per-turn budget of $685 that we aren't even using half of. I'd say that's worth it to have our guards armed with guns which didn't fall off the back of the proverbial truck.

I'd also recommend getting two dice for both Catwoman actions. B&E isn't something we want to crit fish for. In fact I'd like to place one of our own AP on it as well since a 50% chance of failure is too rich for my blood since it's a high-risk action, perhaps we can take it off of Stress Test or Gotham Steel or researching the other divisions. Only using one die would make getting the mill done by Q4 a lot harder, but it should be doable. Helps that we'll hopefully be just about done with the on-site inspections by then. As for the Security Protocols, I think paying $25 for an additional 48% chance of completing the project is a bargain.

I'd also recommend getting two dice for both Catwoman actions.
Do remember that each of her actions are worth two dice when used on security or espionage actions.

[] Plan: Specialist hires, new locks and reviews.
Resources: $685 - $205(This plan) = $480
Action Points: 10
-[] On-Site Inspections: (386/500) 2D $30
-[] Spend time with Bruce Wayne: (0/200) 1D
-[] Hire John Henry Irons: (0/100) 2D $30
-[] Hire Pamela Lilian Isley: (0/100) 2D $30
-[] Review Wayne Industries' Security Protocols: (0/75) 1D $15
-[] Install new locks and key pads: (0/50) 1D $50
-[] Breaking and Entering: (0/100) 1D + Catwoman $50
Illicit Resources: $270 - $60(this plan) = $210
Illicit AP: 2
-[] The Bat-Computer - Step 1: (0/50) 2D $60

Continue on-site inspections, work on Bruce wayne relationship, hire both specialists, review security protocols, install new locks, send catwoman to bother lexcorp and building the Bat-computer x2.

That's not how it worked last turn though? We placed one die on Double Agents and used Catwoman twice, but we only got three dice on the project as a result. Maybe we need to pay her on a per-die basis as well? If so, we need to spend $100 instead of $50 to get the full benefits.

Or we can only use her once per action on a given turn? If that's the case, we should take the AP off of Stress Test, put it on B&E, and have Catwoman up our security, perhaps by having her review security protocols/ Mind providing clarification @Tjf ?

For those who are advocating to hire Isley this turn, what exactly are we going to do with her once she's on the payroll?

She is a botanist and biochemist, not an engineer. And we have no inroads on Wayne Biotech to actually make use of her skills.

That's a really good point @Tjf how long will we be able to recruit Isley and Irons? If it's only for a limited time, I'd say it's worth having her on hand and building a department around her, if they can be recruited in the future I'd say we can leave it for now.

On that note, if we do free up dice I'd really like to spend a research action on Gotham with it's got a very high likelihood of succeeding and would provide us with potentially useful information. It's time we took a look at exactly what we're jumping into.

That still leaves her as a high risk low reward option imo. We dont know when she might go coo coo for cocoa puffs, and when she does she will bring our reputation down with her own when she starts growing flowers in eye sockets.

We have very limited AP right now, limited enough that we cant even make full use of our budget. And spending them on relationship gains with Isley to MAYBE keep her sane when she isnt actually doing anything for us beyond eating a paycheck...

To add to this, even befriending her is no guarantee. Multiple incarnations of Two Face, The Batmans Clayface, the Telltale version of the Joker even, were all close friends of Bruce Wayne.

Just... limited benefit without massive investment, potential for a massive downside.

That's my mistake, sorry. I'll rewrite the passage, as it's not clear at all. One use of Catwoman = 1 d100. So she gives you a total of two extra dice to use.

Like I said, that's totally my fault - my explanation was misleading.

The options won't be there indefinitely, but they'll be available for a while yet. I'll add a warning when the options are about to expire, as well - telling you how many turns you'll have left.

It's more realistic not to tell you that, but I think it's better from a player experience if you're not picking options out of FOMO. Let me know if you prefer the ambiguity.

Thank you for clarifying.

And this is yet more reason NOT to take Isley. If y'all want her, set up something for her to actually do for us first. We need projects she can work on.

Irons meanwhile can directly synergize with Wayne Aerospace. Send him out to develop some shiny new engines for our future Batplane.

I would say she's more very high risk, high reward. Since unique characters will unlock options we definitely won't have ourselves. I agree that she's probably more trouble than she's worth. Mainly because we don't know what the scope of her enviiromental obsession is, if it's managable she'd have been worth it. Conversely if she's a complete nutter, we'd have been screwed.

I think I prefer the ambiguity, just a rough estimate would be good, and a warning if the option will be going away soon.

very high risk, high reward
Only if we have projects she can actually contribute to. If we had control of Wayne Biotech I'd be on the same page you are, but we will have to dump a LOT of time into opening up fields that can actually use her specialties.

Everything in our current portfolio is hard industry. Mines. Cars. Aircraft. Hard Steel. Nothing that can make even tangential use of Isleys skillset. And she would probably actively hate our mines in Africa.

Meanwhile, Wayne Biotech has established departments for all three of Pamela's specialties. And right now, they are our main rival for most profitable sector of the Wayne umbrella, so that's not a simple ask to take their stuff.

At best without driving hard to take over from DeWitte (who is apparently normally Kyle Rayners girlfriend), we could maybe get her in to help design some farm equipment? Lord knows John Deere could use some competition.

Or we just send her Dossier over. But that feels like an even worse option. All the risks of hiring Poison Ivy, no control.

Blarg eight hour shifts are a pain.

I've decided to go with two plans with the difference being that one starts expanding the steel mill and the other puts that AP into on-site inspections with the hope that four dice will be enough to finish that 114 progress left.
