Hauptmann War Robots and War Savants
More Corvos Sector Mechanicus. the Hauptmann is essentially a Castellan, but with an Atomantic Reactor (and the shielding that comes with it) shoehorned into the hull, and all the flamethrowers.
why? well, not long after the 9th Black Crusade, what can only be described as a 'metric shitload' of Nurgle-aligned Chaos forces waltzed right through the Warp Storm that isolated the sector and proceeded to bring the party to everyone.
This was something of an issue, since the local imperial forces really weren't equipped to handle them, so the Corvos brain types put on their thinking robes, fired up the Inspirator Cortex, and proceed to design a 'burn all the things' machine.
And just for lulz, they made giant flamethrowers that were also dreadnought-grade power fists, because hey, you might need to punch through a bulkhead before you can set everything on fire.
(even Orks don't try to tango with Haptmanns in melee, mostly because generally speaking everything in their immediate vicinity tends to be hilariously on fire. The SoB love the things, though.)
Saint Khalia the Executioner
(because there's nothing quite as Sisters as an angel wielding a giant executioner's sword and a bladed censer-flail that's larger than an entire person.)
fun fact: Khalia there earned her saint-hood after being slated to have her head chopped off for heresy (she was an initiate at the time) only for a fairly large band of World Eaters to decide to crash the party while she was kneeling at the block. With a boatload of Daemons along for the ride, at that.
Being the devout sort (and also reasoning they could always kill her later) she promptly smashed open her manacles, relived the gibbering executioner of his sword, and proceeded to burst into golden flames before hacking her way through a few hundred cultists, thirty Astarties berserkers, their slightly-less-insane Chaos Lord captain, and a indeterminate number of lesser Khornite Deamons (flesh hounds, bloodletters, etc,) before beheading one of the three Bloodthirsters that came along for the party and dismembering Number Two before setting it on fire with the contents of a nearby tank of Promethium and the still-burning censor of the priest it'd been kicking around. Number Three took in the gold-blazing madwoman who'd hacked her way through pretty much anything yelling about blood, skulls, or some combination thereof, and decided that it would spill more blood over there, thank you, no it's absolutely not running away from the scary lady, lies and slander.
Needless to say, she was not executed for heresy; and despite being basically all-but-dead from exertion would not let go of the sword, not even after she died for real. The sword (with her hand still attached, since 'deathgrip' became rather literal and they couldn't remove it) and censor became holy relics, and she occasionally gets summoned back to kill stuff but good.
heh. Sometimes, the Emperor works in mysterious ways. Other times, otherwise unremarkable wrongfully accused Initiates burst into golden flame and single-handedly hack their way through major Chaos warbands with a ceremonial sword.
I mean, it helped that they were Khornites and therefor A) Didn't have much in the way of guns and B) were, youknow, World Eaters, and thus more on the 'screaming lunatic' end of things, but still an impressive enough feat to get her Sainted.
Especially when they tried to get the sword back after she died (after being on her deathbed for around a couple months after the invasion) and her wrist gave out before her grip did.
(rumors about said sword spontaneously animating in the presence of Khornite daemons and hacking them apart are unconfirmed.)

Keton-12 spent lifetimes scouring the galaxy for the arecheotech device that would come to be known as the Inspirator Cortex. Now that it is within her grasp, rare indeed is the scenario dire enough to draw her away from her attempts to replicate the device.
On those rare occasions, however, her massive quadrupedal frame stalks across the battlefield bedecked in a panoply of war the envy of any Destructor- flanking her original body are a pair of Volkite Culverins, the potent heavy weapons serving as mid-ranged artillery. Attached to the sides of her massive frame's head are two Plasma Culverins- rapid-fire versions of the more common plasma gun that only the Mechnaicus dare to use. Last of her ranged weapons, a pair of massive Plasmic Beam Annihalators adorn the tips of her primary arms- these potent weapons were derived from the ancient defenses located upon Forge Hades, firing searing beams of star-hot plasma that can threaten even an Imperial Knight-Titan.
Nor is she helpless in the thick of things, for entirely aside the ability to simply swat unfortunates with her massive legs, Mechadendrites sprout from them, equipped with a variety of tools... or ending in roaring chainswords; though she finds such combat distasteful and avoids it wherever possible.
But for all her firepower, it is her defenses that truely make her a force to be reckoned with, for when the Mistress of the Cortex goes to war, she does so behind the protection of the Nemean Matrix: A nigh-impregnable suite of shielding systems and techno-wards that render her almost invulnerable to ranged weaponry. Indeed, even the mighty Turbo-laser Destructor commonly mounted to Warhound Titans cannot overcome the system's increadable
strength, forcing any would-be killers to brave her firepower in order to attack her directly, striking with melee weapons that can bypass much of her shielding.
Translation: she's the Tankyest Tank what Ever Tanked against anything short of a straight-up Titan (or Equivalent,) at least for anything other than Melee, which is her main weakness, while also being preeetty damn shooty (well, Blasty, Plasma and Volkites you know.)
Melee is her big weakpoint though. Not only does the Nemean Matrix fail to provide the sort of massive dice numbers it does against ranged attacks, she's only really 'competent' in that area, even Elite Mooks with a melee focus will do better than her (accounting for, youknow, the whole 'size-equivalent to a Dreadnought' thing) so the way to gank her on the tabletop is to do things like dropping a whole mob of Ork Nobs or Howling Banshees on her ASAP.
"Kneel before me, worms, and I shall SPARE your PATHETIC LIVES." -Krogoth Blood-drinker
The Chaos Champion known as Krogoth first came to the attention of Imperial authorities in M38, in the wake of the 9th Black Crusade, in which he is believed to have participated. As he possessed much of his signature panoply of war at the time, it is speculated that he was already a warlord of some renown amongst the foul servants of the Archenemy.
While a follower of the Blood God Khorne, Krogoth is unusual in that breed, for several reasons.
Firstly and foremostly, the typical unthinking fury of Khorne's followers is glaring in its absence; Krogoth has on all encounters proven an astute and clever commander, unafraid to retreat or decline engagement should it serve his goals to do so. Equally, those few who have faced him directly and lived to tell the tale describe him as a very technical and adroit warror, despite the choice of twin power claws that suggests a more savage combat style.
Secondly, he has been observed to foster highly disciplined armies of Traitor Astartes and Mortal troops alike, and has an unusual willingness to cooperate with servants of the other powers- even those of Tzeench, Khorne's traditional enemy.
Lastly he is known to be surprisingly charismatic, having turned several previously loyal individuals and even entire armies to his service over the course of a given battle with pure oratorical skill.
These characteristics have resulted in the Inquisition, particularly the Ordo Malleus, investing considerably effort to see him dead, for such a follower of the Blood God could easily become a grave threat indeed should he be allowed to gather sufficient strength.
Angel Hunter
Krogoth would earn his moniker during a three-hundred-year long campaign against the Blood angels and their successors, beginning with the capture, torture, and eventual murder of the Sanguinary Priest Sarandiel; in a dark ritual that earned him the eternal enmity of the sons of Sanguinius, for Sarandiel bore with him a Blood Chalice; a sacred relic that Krogoth took great pleasure in profaning with its bearer's own blood, consumed by the Chaos Lord one cupful at a time over the course of several hours as he etched into the relic foul symbols of the Blood God and the secret names of some of his greatest servants. This was henceforth called the Blooded Chalice and Krogoth bears it to this day, despite several attempts by the sons of Sanguinius to retrieve or destroy the relic.
Having earned the wrath of the Blood Angels and their successors with his act of desecration, Krogoth spent nearly three hundred years hunting them, ritually drinking their blood with his profane relic and evading death at every turn. On Kalath IV his forces fell upon the 6th company of the Angels Encarmine and slaughtered them nearly to a man; on Kandor he personally engaged the then-captain of the Sangine Host and left with his head in hand; on Sevris II he evaded three companies of the Blood Angels themselves and captured or slaughtered nearly a full half of the forces brought by those of their successors that had come to support them, including elements of the Templars of Blood, Knights Sanguine, and Sangine Host; on Ysrin he captured and tortured three squads of the Lamenters and though most were able to escape, eight of their number fell in the doing.
His forces- by then known as the Crimson Pact and swollen to a mighty host by his repeated victories- would scourge the northern portions of Segmentium Ultima for nearly three hundred years, but though the Emperor's justice may grind slowly, grind on it does, and eventually Krogoth brought his host to a backwater world named Dervon V.
It was there that Krogoth faced for the first time his superior in calculated savagery and bloodlust, and knew his first major defeat at Imperial hands.
For even as his forces pillaged the hapless world for supplies, seven full companies of black-and-red marines rained down upon his forces.
The Flesh Tearers, had come.
Defeat and Flight
Never before had Krogoth faced a foe like this, for the savagery and bloodlust of the Flesh Tearers in many ways exceeded even those fellow servants of the Blood God whom he had often battled over his unusual tendencies. While he attempted to withdraw in good order and meet his foes properly, the elemental fury of Sanguinius' most savage sons soon turned orderly withdrawal into rushed retreat, then to panicked rout as discipline broke in the face of the Flesh Tearer's relentless bloodlust.
Krogoth himself moved to leave the world, but was engaged by the then-Master of the Flesh Tearers, Arvidron, in terminator armor of his own. For six hours, the two titans clashed, howling Eviscerator to crackling Power Claw, even as their respective forces slaughtered each-other; and to his shock Krogoth found himself losing. Despite all his skill, despite his centuries of battle, bit by bit he was hemmed in, forced to defend against the elemental rage of his opponent...
...then Arvidron fell to the Black Rage.
In an instant, Krogoth was overwhelmed. If he had been forced back before, now it was all he could do to keep his opponent's howling Eviscerator from his neck. Three blows, that was all, Three blows and his guard was broken. Only luck and a turning shoulder saved him from death, and even then, his opponent's sword cleaved through his armor and reduced his right shoulder to a mangled ruin.
Knowing defeat was immanent, Krogoth quit the field, revealing for the first time his trump card: a personal teleporter, Prised from the dead body of a nameless Grey Knight Interceptor that had encountered the warlord some time previously.
Krogoth intended to teleport to his waiting flagship, but was swept up in the currents of the Warp and, from the perspective of the greater Imperium, vanished.
Scourge of Corvos
In the End, Krogoth found himself in the Corvos Sector, alone, wounded, and humbled by defeat.
He was yet alive, however, and would once more gather to him a host- though never again so mighty as that which he had once commanded- and bedevil the sector to this very day, screaming out of the dark to butcher cities and worlds before fleeing the Hammer of the Emperor. Yet his threat is ultimately undiminished, for what he gathered once may yet be gathered again, and in these dark days his words and continuing successes draw ever-more servants of the Dark Gods to his banner...
You have some serious talent. And an incredible imagination and the ability to put that into the real world. Or at least a computer program. Keep up the good work.
40K: Adeptus Mechanicus Forge Corovos Kataphon Transport
Kataphon Armored Assault Transport
Kataphon Demolisher
Kataphons are Corovos' main vehicle that is actually a vehicle and not a war robot. it's derived from the Chimera chassis (since that was literally all they had) but is a very different beastie indeed. it's got better armor and a Conversion Field, for one. All versions have a pair of Cognis Las-cannons mounted in side spontions and a fore hull mount that takes a Heavy Bolter, Heavy Flamer, or Arc Blaster.
The stock version has a turret that can take either a twin-linked autocannon or twin-linked assault cannon, and seat twenty men in addition to the crew, which is two full squads for Corovos (and, incidentally, means you're getting twenty Skitarii with Hellguns and carapace-equivalent protection unloaded from this sucker) while the Demolisher mounts the eponymous artillery gun in a foreward casement at the expense of its turret and half its passenger space... which leaves it at a still-very-respectable ten men, only two less than a bog-standard Chimera.
only with more armor, Lascannons, a conversion field, one one of the best short-ranged artillery guns the Imperium *has,* plus benefiting from the Mechanicum Bullshit of your choice.
Trikoris Warstriders are among the most iconic of Corovos' many War Automata, their commanding profiles providing superior firing platforms to standard tanks and the contra-grav systems incorporated to their design giving the tripodal automata seemingly unnatural grace even as the potent weapons they bear cut down the enemies of the Machine Cult like so much grass. Equally, their advanced Deflecteron Shields and advanced techno-warding make the tall machines extremely difficult to damage or destroy.
The Eradicator (top left) is armed with a single Heavy Eradication Beamer, a larger, more potent version of a weapon commonly found on the Onager Dunecrawlers of the greater mechanicum, and a trio of Cognis Heavy Stubbers. The Destructor bears instead a Neutron Laser Destroyer, a weapon based upon the Neutron Laser of the Onager.
The Devastator (center left) trades all its normal weapons and its Deflecteron Shield for a more basic Refractor Field and the massive Hektorix Plasma Flux Bombard, which sends burning orbs of solar fury arcing across the battlefield, to smash into enemy lines with unerring precision thanks to its advanced Strikeseeker Rangefinders. The Interdictor (center right) bears only a pair of Icarus Stormcannons and a Skyburner Assault Laser; a massively modified Las-cannon capable of firing hundreds of times in a single second thanks to its advanced cooling system and multiple lasing chambers. It also mounts a Skytracker Auger Array, allowing its normally-inaccurate weapons to strike flying objects with near-perfect accuracy.
The Primus (bottom left) is an ancient design believed to originate upon Mars itself, and is much more heavily armed and equipped than most of its more modern cousins. As a primary weapon it mounts the fearsome Thermion Devastator, an arcane weapon capable of firing either focused beams of searing power that can liquefy a tank in bare seconds, or wide, short-ranged blasts of energy that reduce even fully armored Astarties to ash in an instant. Only its cooling system grants its enemies reprieve, for Thermion weapons generate increadable amounts of heat and the Dark Age cooling technology that once allowed the weapons to fire for hours un-interrupted remains beyond the understanding of the modern Mechanicus. Still even confined to a few short seconds of fire, its hawk-cry shriek of power strikes terror into the hearts of all enemies of the Machine Cult, tank and infantry alike.
Its secondary weapons are no less potent, for each of its arm-pods holds a Volkite Culverin and a pair of coaxial Cognis Heavy Stubbers, while a further four Cognis Heavy Stubbers in a pair of twin-linked carapace mounts supports its main weapons. These allow the deadly automata to remain a significant threat even if its main weapon becomes overheated by sustained firing.
The Primus also mounts a powerful miracle of the Machine God, the Autophantasm Projectors atop its carapace. These relics of the Dark Age of Technology create phantasmal duplicates of nearby friendly forces, utterly indistinguishable from the real thing save for their intangibility and lack of Psychic presence, even to the most advanced sensory systems. A single Guardsman can be disguised as an entire regiment, or a light column of tanks disguised as a mighty armored spearhead, sowing confusion among the enemies of the Machine Cult.
The Executioner (bottom right), meanwhile, is the youngest of the Trikoris family, creating in early M41 as part of a collaboration with the Forge-world of Ryza. The machine mounts a fearsome array of plasma weaponry that can cut down entire armies in short order. Its primary weapon is a deadly Plasma Executioner Cannon, but mounted coaxially with that mighty weapon is a twin-linked Plasma Culverin, allowing the machine to put out a shocking hail of fire with its main weapon mount alone. Below that, in place of the normal hull-mounted Cognis Heavy Stubber, it mounts instead a Plasma Caliver, a short-ranged but rapid-fire weapon only the Mechanicus dare to use, and finally its arm-pods mount each mount a traditional Plasma Cannon with a coaxial Plasma Caliver. Combined, this array of deadly plasma weapons can erase entire armies in a single furious salvo and reduce a battlefield to a glassy wasteland in its wake.
fun fact: I actually invented the Trikoris WAAAAAYYYYY back in 2003 before Fourth Edition was even a Thing, let alone official tabletop Mechanicus. I have, admittedly, upgraded them to account for new lore and weaponry; IE, Cognis Heavy Stubbers rather than the normal H stubbers, the new exotic energy weapons (the Eradicator used to mount a Conversion Beam cannon while the Destructor used a heavy grav-cannon) or things that are basically what they had already (EG, Stormcannons, Volkite weapons, Plasma Calivers and Culverins, etc.)
I've been *very disappointed* in Geedubs and FW for not giving us any Martian Doom Tripods. Not even the Punisher Titan, which, from its brief description, is defiantly the giant doom robot any self-respecting martian invader would want (it's mentioned as mounting Plasma Annihilators- you know, those things so large only Warlords can carry them, as underslung from its actual main guns, which probably means the things are pushing the Imperitor size-range...)
maybe at some point I'll go hunt down some 8E rulebook pdfs and have a go at updating their rule-sets.
