Well, it was fun while it lasted.
It's not dead! I'm just having problems with the interaction with Robb! :p

I got a end point for this story planned already and several future scenes. The problem with my other stories was that i did not have a end planned.

Star Trek that makes sense? HERESY! DOUBLE HERESY! *BLAM*
It would require a great amount of world building but it might be my project after this one is finished.

Ah.

Reading the SI idea thread, hoped you decided to do something with the "alien in a 1st contact with Modern Earth" idea. :p
Also a possibility. That one is always fun. But writing from a alien point of view can be a bit of a headache.

Horses are better mounts than Varren.

That's all I can say as we move along the forest path. According to the man leading the way, we will reach the Stark camp today.

I stayed in Winterfell for a couple of days as Bran Stark and his teacher played raven tag with Robb Stark and his mother before I was given a guide to take me to the army.

These people have better OpSec than I expected, even if for the moment I would prefer a bit more speed rather than security.

At least I managed to get the horse to cooperate by summoning my own and putting a saddle on that one instead after claiming the essence of my previous mount. On my shoulder a raven is sitting, another new summon claimed at Winterfell from their stock of messengers.

I'm currently digging through it's rather simple little mind. The latest experiences have proved that I need mind magic... and this stuff is tricky as hell.

Even with something as simple as a raven I need physical contact and it is still like trying to scoop water with a pitchfork. No wonder Jace is considered a genius at this stuff.

As a group of armed men step into the road in front of us I shift my attention from the slippery mind of the avian and back to reality.

"My Lord Winter. Lord Stark are expecting you." the lead soldier told us, I nodded.

"I see. May we pass?" I asked, he bowed.

"This way, My Lord."

We continued along the path into the camp itself a couple of kilometers further away. In the muddy camp area were tents, men and horses. Thousands of them.

But mainly there was mud.

Great... but it could be expected. The last couple of weeks it had rained a few times and thousands of men running around do have a tendency to stir soft wet ground into mud.

I dislike mud. It's like sand. It gets everywhere and it sticks to you.

As we reached the largest tent I dismounted the horse, channeling some red mana to compact the ground where I would land. The damn mud was a hand deep at places and I had no intention of wading through the muck when I could help it.

People stared as the ground firmed up where I stepped as I walked into the tent and I stopped channeling as I hit the hard ground inside.

"Lord Winter. I received my brother's messages." Robb Stark said as he got up from his table and walked over. His mother was sitting there as well as were several other men. Likely leaders of other houses subservient to House Stark.

I nodded, "Very good, Lord Stark. I have already left some of the information I promised with your brother."

"You will address him as King!" one of the men at the table exclaimed and Robb waved him down.

"Easy, Hornwood." Stark said before turning back to me, "Bran said you healed him."

I nodded "I did. By the time I left Winterfell, he could move his feet again. I expect that he can move them even more by now. In half a year he should be able to walk."

He nodded and his mother smiled as he spoke up again, "You have the eternal thanks of House Stark, Lord Winter. Anything you wish, will be yours. You have my word."

I watched him for a moment, "You know what I want and what I offer."

"Actually, I don't." Stark said, "My brothers messages talked of you offering knowledge in return for our army? And that there was a great threat?"

I smiled, "Only one great threat? I know of three. But the one I talk about is called Mary."

"Mary? A woman?" one of the Lords at the table laughed and Robb hushed him down before turning back to me.

I raised my eyebrow for a second before I continued, "She is the same kind as me. A Planeswalker. She has powers and she is determined to bring Order to this world."

"What kind of 'Order'?" The King of the North asked and I shook my head.

"Everyone that joins her and lives under her laws live. Everyone else dies. She is going to crush this world beneath her pretty little foot." I said and once more the same Lord spoke up.

"A woman can not lead armies! What powers can she possibly have! Bah! Old wives tales." he said and laughed.

I frowned and channeled blue mana as Robb turned to tell him off, "Lord Karstark, you will ho..." was as far as Robb got as I lifted the large man out of his seat with my mind, throwing him across the tent.

"That is the kind of power she has. She is not mortal, not in the same way you are. She can wield magic, conjure men and armor out of thin air, heal any injury." I told them as they stared at me.

"Y-you said you were the same..." Robb said and I nodded.

"Same kind, different skills. I can heal, Yes, but I also have other abilities she doesn't. Just as she can do things I can not."

"Are you a god?" he asked and I had a sudden Ghostbusters flashback before I shook my head.

"Do I see myself as one? No. Do I have abilities in the same power level? Yes. Make up your own mind, it is not my job, nor do I care to be worshipped." I told them and there were silence for a moment.

"My brother mentioned weapons to crush armies." Robb finally spoke up and I nodded.

"I can not give them to you, but I can teach you how to make them. The question is if we have time to. I do not know where Mary is. She are sure to have found somewhere to gather her own army by now though."

Robb hesitated for a moment, glancing back at his council as Lord Karstark was picking himself of the ground.

"We have received reports of Stannis Baratheon making large changes in his realm. New laws. He is said to listen to a woman dressed in white." he said, and I sighed, nodding.

"That... would be her." I said as I walked over to the table, looking down at the map.

"It puts the Lannisters and King's Landing between us and them. Good, that will buy us time." I continued before I turned back to Robb, "Do you accept my proposal? Join me and I will give you knowledge that will save this world."

"If we say no?" he questioned and I smiled.

"Then I leave and find another army." I told him and there was a moment before he nodded.

"I accept."

This is still entertaining, but isn't that pretty much what medieval kings do anyway?

I can't believe I'm making a correction... I barely manage to beta my own crap...

Anyway! Loved this chapter! We're finally seeing things on the move!

Also a battlefield! Excellent, the perfect place to pick up some more black...

But for now we'll see how things go.

You have to know people are going to be fighting you on this, both inside and out. If I don't see at least a handful of assassination attempts I'll be so disappointed it's not even funny.

That said I am loving the 'direct and to the point' style you're working under. Your operating a lot like you did under the buffy setting, though a bit more reckless and aggressive. A good example of your minor Red mana influence.

Honestly, If I was you, I'd keep your Red your dominant color. It fucks with your head, but you seem functional while running under the indy ploy school of operation. Just make sure you keep blue as one of the second runners. You low on blue is... I don't want to call it foolish, maybe Naïve? Regardless, it's a mindset soon to get you killed.

Now back onto plot points! That little mudwalker trick is going to get people talking, which is a good and bad thing. I wonder if Winter's thought of using his Omnitool yet as a fabber. Even one or two high grade (for a given quality of materials) snipers could turn the scale of a battle after all.

I'm a little concerned Winter seems to be ignoring his internal magic all together by this point. Never know when you'll need it (how many land destroying cards are there again?), and now that he has enough mana to play with, he might find a way to expand it.

Despotic kings tend to care about getting their taxes on time and squashing any resistance. Don't resist and you are likely not going to be killed out of hand except maybe for fun.

Religious fanatics who are also fascist dictators tend to constantly make new rules that you will have retroactively broken. A much worse situation to be in.

BROOOOOKEEEEEEN!

I know it requires a ton of mana but once in play that thing is ... wow.
Well yeah... once you've reached the point that you're spending ten mana on cards as the base cost, you really should be playing ridiculous game changer crap that starts really deciding things for one side or the other.

Besides, it's not like there's not a million ways to get rid of it for a prepared foe.

For example, Ray of Revelation.

Nice to see Winter's fairly modest about the whole "A God Am I" thing. Won't be too awful long before he has a hard time denying it though I think.

Sniper guns are more than just a good scope as that scope would be absolutely useless if the bullet trajectory has such a large margin of error that hitting a human sized target beyond 100 meters is up to luck

Something like a Sharps rifle with good optics would be simple for an omni-tool to produce, and black powder's not too difficult to make (I've done it on a lark). The difficulty is going to be producing cartridges-- rolling brass into cartridges by the hundreds is NOT going to be cheap or easy due to material cost alone, and hundreds of rounds per man will be required just to train them as snipers.
