The Lost Files (C:TL/Dresden Files) (CK2-ish)

And most of my thinking has been around the dichotomy. I don't have time for this Quest, or at least time to devote to fixing it, and yet I'm afraid of being the sort of person who abandons Quests willy-nilly, especially when I do have voters and people who are interested in it. But at the same time, I can't know and I can't really make it drive towards a conclusion, and the other difficulty is that any method I thought of (Interludes, Timeskips, etc, etc) seemed to involve sacrificing something, and included a lot of added time to make it work.

So I was and to some extent am stuck at the impasse where this Quest is tired of living but scared of dying, to quote old showtunes.

I get the issues you've been having with this quest, but at the same time, the concept is my favourite out of all your work I've read so far. Really hoping you'll continue this in some form, though ultimately it's up to you. Harbin had a quest (Rend) over on spacebattles they were having problems with, that they then converted into a pretty excellent fic. I'm not sure how much that would help in your case, or if it's even something that you'd want to do, but it is an option no one brought up yet, so I thought I'd mention it :)

Whatever you decide, thanks for all your hard work. Covenant is pretty much the reason I joined SV.

Hrm, if I do cancel this, I could reveal under-the-hood facts. I mean, I already mentioned that if you'd made different choices, Michael would have shown up with a sword and the Fiddler's name on it...

I think that part of the problem was I tried to combine two great tastes. And I think I actually had some pretty good ideas for how to do so, but it didn't entirely work. If I was to visit the Dresden Files in the future, it'd probably be something smaller-scale. Like, a personal RPG style thing, perhaps using the rules of the Dresden Files RPG, and following one of several possible characters and their lives. It wouldn't necessarily directly interact with the plot of Harry Dresden, but it'd be more deeply tied into the world.

Also, just to reveal some of the cards in my hand, Abby was actually part of a plot by Uriel. I mean, and God in general, to attempt to bring back Sin-Eaters in a big way to deal with the rising tide of ghosts as the Nevernever and the world in general got more dangerous. He appeared to her in an alternate form, working through local forms and local powers, to grant her the ability to banish ghosts through the ritual of Sin-Eating, which had once been prominent and important. There had once been hundreds of them in the world, to bring the dead peace as the Knights bring redemption to Denarians and so on.

But they faded and died, and so this was an experiment of sorts, working towards seeing if humans could revive this particular flame. In that sense, the fact that Nicodemus was cutting a deal with the Fiddler, was a sideways move aimed at attacking her without having to reveal himself. Because if she lived and her work continued, people would be helped. The world would become a better place, and apocalypse is a state of mind. And yet, if he went himself, then he knew that the Knights would get wind up it, and possibly other forces as well.

So both sides were playing a game of sorts through patsies. And then in stumbled Changelings, with no idea what was going on, who managed to kill the Fiddler and foil the plot.

Ah.

It got Dresdened. While Dresden is elsewhere.

Must cunning.

For all of her supreme arrogance and intelligence, Cora Graves mostly had no idea what was going on. But it was going to be a jumping off point to having stronger relations/being steered around by Uriel. And Eva was part of that, because she too was following the path of her own faith, towards making the world a better place.
