The Konoha Twelve - Team Sanity (Kurenai)

Made the edited post in the IC, working on my reply to Sakura next for here.

Sakura hears the buzzing of bugs, and sees her Aburame teammate, jacket, shades and all, with a couple of bugs around him. She stands and puts on a smile.

"Good morning, Shino-san!"

Seeing him reminds her of what Ino-chan told her last night regarding Torune-san though, but that's a (disturbing) mystery for another time, maybe later. Still, she feels rather uneasy about that.
I manage not to flinch as I try to calm my hive. This is not the time; distraction is fatal, and I need to be focused for Kurenai-sensei's test today.

I take a quiet, deep breath as I wave to my teammate who seems to recoil at something. Perhaps even she is unaware of her motion, but among my clan who champion a calm facade the concern could have been writen across her face. It is tempting to bring up — especially since my own tension is high — but not without preamble. "Good morning, Sakura-san. I take it you're well-rested?"

Sakura nods.

"Yes. How about you? Did you have a good sleep?"

"The Hyūga Clan invited me to stay for dinner — no doubt my father's doing. It... was enlightening," I take a moment to push up my shades, "but it was a long affair. Hopefully they will be more considerate in the future and not leave members of our team out of the loop, for it would be a shame for the son of the Aburame Clan Head to have to snub such a prominent clan of Konoha..."

"…"
Shino attempts supportive humor –> comes out super-serious... :V

Sakura doesn't have much to say about that. It probably has something to do with clan politics or something.

"By the way, are you feeling ready for the test? Here's what I found out about Kurenai-sensei..."

She proceeds to share her notes with Shino, regarding what she got from her info-gathering last night.

I make my way slowly, calmly through the field of red flowers. Byakugan active. Searching. By Lord Hiashi's meeting the previous night, there was some turmoil among the teams. This team is stable, but in the Leaf, stuff like this can have far reaching consequences... Besides that it was testing day. To be a ninja was to expect the unexpected, and while Kurenai-sensei had told us the nature of the test, already Shino had looked beyond that and changed the rules slightly. It could change more.

I walk up to the pink haired Kunoichi and the tall, dark Shino, just as the former is handing the latter her notes. I also hand a folder to the bug ninja. I bow slightly to each. "Good morning, teammates. I've used the Hyūga Clan intelligence apparatus to gain us this information. Hopefully you're right about this being the true purpose of this test, Shino." I say, a bit more chilly and distant than I really felt. Shino was treating me like a subordinate, someone to be manipulated. I'm young, and I can't let that make him think I'll follow blindly.

Ooh, ok. So Pebble is around to make occasional posts? I'm thinking we have at least one more short @UbeOne reply and one more short @Ψυχή reply to Hanabi, to outline what they think of each other at the moment. :)

Then we'll have one of you compile these last few snippets and put them in the IC thread.

Them sharing info about their sensei can mostly be skipped over; no need for that level of monologuing detail.

"No need for such stiff formalities, Hanabi-san." I can't help but wonder if I misinterpreted the humor from last night and said something impolite. "It cannot hurt to show off our team's skills in more than the expected directive; that would be because it shows our ability to adapt and prepare for expected missions and read into the potential undercurrent of a given assaignment."

Adjusting my glasses again, I feel my hive flinch as I broach my next topic. "That aside, did your cousin Neji ever come back last night? It was a shame that we could not celebrate his... unique promotion."

What's up with her Hyuuga teammate's... rather cold demeanor?

"Good morning, Hanabi-san. Even if it's not the actual test, it does show initiative and teamwork."

Hmm, Hanabi-san has a cousin? Wait, her cousin is Neji-san? What comes to mind is what Ino-chan said about him...

Sakura continues to listen.

Friggin' autocorrect, I thought I fixed it to cousin already...!

*sigh* there

@UbeOne While you're around, wanna compile the last few posts and put them in the IC thread?

I'll then fast forward through the next half-hour till 8am when Kurenai arrives.

In the fast-forward, I think I'd just need to have Hanabi mention what she knows of Neji's new assignment, and a line about what Sakura heard from Ino? Then another line or two about what they talked about (probably the sensei info) before Kurenai arrives.

Oh, to just facilitate all of our worries about Team Torune? I suppose that works — saves the time of the whole conversation, and still helps us bond over commonalities (in this case, wtf is Torune doing with Neji and our introduction into the ROOT subplot :V)
