tbh, i didn't expect people to vote otherwise, but...like, gotta give you the ILLUSION OF FREE WILL as you DANCE TO MY PUPPET STRINGS

FWIW I am reading and quite enjoying it! Your scenes are quite vivid and it's a really fun setting and set of characters you've translated into it. I know very little of BG3 but still loving how you've rendered everything. Haven't been voting because I've tended not to have preferences on the options, but hope you're not reading that as disinterest!
Just want to second this. With the exception of a handful of votes here or there, I just like to lurk along for the ride.
You create awesome quests DC . Now stop fishing for compliments and get back to the keyboard

Edit: may as well throw in a vote while I'm posting...
[X] Keep Astarion
[x] Discard Astarion and draw two.

Like many others, I'm reading and enjoying every update, but I don't tend to vote unless I arrive quite early or have a strong preference.

[X] Keep Astarion

Yeah, similarly I enjoy reading updates but I often either like the potential stories from any of the options, or don't have the brain space to work out a plan, or both.

[X] Throw a Pokeball at Asterion and send him to the PC Box.

Gotta Catch Them All.

More seriously:
[X] Keep Astarion
I want the sass.

@DragonCobolt if there's ever downtime, can we have Karlah, Wyll and Shadowheart teach Lae'zel Gale and Asterion how to properly check each other's seals?

Absolutely!

Now stop fishing for compliments and get back to the keyboard

But compliments are how I gain my power!

Aight!

[X] Keep Astarion

[X] Double it and send it to the next person

What's the deal with the French Republic Wyll seems to dislike?

What's the deal with the French Republic Wyll seems to dislike?

The world ended because all the powers that were in charge preferred the status quo and profit over fixing the problem - all built on a planetary system of imperialism. Astarion is like, "Well, life was fine and safe for me" and then says he was living in, like, France. No shit life was fine and safe for him, all the violence was being exported to the third world.

Oh hey, and you're going into a HABITAT!!!!!

That means I get to roll a legality check!

Nuke has a legality of 13!

Your illegality is a aggregate total of your Intimidation!

Lets see, that's 43 with every gun you're carrying HMM

RIGHT CAN SOMEONE ROLL ME A STEALTH CHECK REAL QUICK

"'...six...centuries!" The elf said, raising his hand, looking frustrated. "Six godsdamned centuries! I...fucking survived the apocalypse, three hundred years in a tunnel. Me! In a tunnel. And I finally get to a good goddamn city, I wait for an actual good city to be built! I saw it! I watched the damn cylinder get fashioned and spun up, I was there when it was just barren white panels and dirt! And now! Now! Finally! I have a city, I have a place I can stay, and you know what? It pipes in mirrored sunlight."
He sat down, thumping against the wall.

He actually looked close to crying."

Awww blorbo

Welcome to Nuke (1.9)
You frowned at him, then sighed and lowered your submachine gun. "...bullets don't even work on vampires, do they?"

"To thralls they do," Shadowheart said.

"Oh," you said, while Astarion stood, smiling a little, his hands still raised.

"If it helps, I promise to not feed on anyone!" Astarion said, nodding. "Well, maybe a sip or two from bad people, if we get into any scrapes."

You sighed. "Okay. Okay." You slung your SMG. "You got a squiddy and we're all trying to clear that shit up. Though, uh, we got some bad news."

"There's...bad news in all this?" Astarion asked, touching his suit chest, looking affronted.

"Shadowheart can fill you in!" You patted Shadowheart's shoulder, then hurried to the front of the buggy. You slung yourself in the seat, started up the engine, the sneakily turned the radio to the rock channel again and hit the peddle. The buggy lurched into motion exactly at the moment the vampire elf wailed: Brain damage!?

Cities on Mardok aren't a lot like cities elsewhere. It's not just all the things that makes Mardok's ecological requirements, it was also that most people living out here didn't have a fucking choice. It was a war torn, scarred planet, left as a middle ground between the great big powers of the First Sphere and Second Sphere. So, By the Gods, Nuke Us Already was...poorer and...you blinked, slowly, as your buggy drove up to the highway and pulled on. There was a pretty huge string of traffic running in and out of the city - buggies and trucks and cable cars, all driving in and out at a consistent rate. You frowned, then whistled slowly as the highway dove down a ramp and in through a big interchange - it split off into ten lanes so the trucks could cycle in and out without too much of a choke on traffic. You stopped in an airlock and it hissed as a voice came over the radio.

"Purpose of visiting Nuke?" A bored sounding voice asked.

"Tourism," you said, then glanced at the others. Shadowheart and Astarion looked bored. Wyll looked interested. Gale and Lae'zel were both glued to windows.

"Approved. Go through for security check."

"Uh," you said. "Right."

"What's a security check?" Gale asked as you slowly turned back and blinked at the load of guns you had racked up in the back. Your face paled.

"Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit!" You scrambled to your feet and hurried into the back as the buggy moved forward on a conveyor belt with a whirr and a clunk. "I forgot, fuck, I was just...this place is a fucking back country, but, fuck, they have security. I think, uh, Nuke is the kind of city where you are allowed to go strapped - they don't give a shit! But they give a shit if you're running guns!" You gestured to the pile of them. "We've got enough fucking guns to equip a fucking pissant third sphere death squad!"

"...and?" Gale asked.

"They're gonna fucking arrest us and beat us with rubber hoses!" you shouted. You started to hide the guns as fast as you could, putting them into every container you could and covering them up with tarps. You gulped, then winced as the buggy came to a stop and then a low blat sounded from the door. The airlock opened and a bored looking orc in a security coverall stepped in. He looked inside, looked you all over, then shook his head.

"You guys had a long trip," he said, then frowned a bit, eying the boxes. "What's in the boxes?"

"Consumables," you said. "Mostly filters and juice and shit."

He walked over...and picked one of the boxes you hadn't hid a gun in, opening it up. ANd wouldn't you know, it had filter replacements. He nodded.

"Aight, have fun kids," he said, then turned back. He paused, then glanced back at Lae'zel, giving her a weird look. Then he shook his head and walked out, muttering under his breath. "Weird fucking elf."

The door closed and you breathed a sigh of relief. "We should be okay!"

Everyone else was looking at you like you were the idiot.

The buggy was slotted into long term parking, your vac-suits were hung up, and each of you were able to finally step out into Nuke herself. The air smelled faintly of ozone and industrial products, and the interior of the city was full of the noise of traffic and people, shouting, laughing. Distant snatches of music. The sky overhead was a huge flat pane of hardened glass, capping off the artificially expanded canyon that the city herself was built in. The walls rose low and thick, and skyscrapers were built into them, while the middle was lower - three, four story buildings at max. There was a lot of greenery, hanging in pots, planted in planters, growing on roofs. Sunlamps were built everywhere, intermixed with the neon signage. But someone had seriously fucked up the humidity and never gotten around to fixing it, because the roof was condensing something fierce. Warm water dripped onto your face in an endless patter, making your face wrinkle as you looked up at it.

"It's raining," Astarion said, sounding faintly awed.

"What the fuck is a rain?" you asked.

Shadowheart was wearing something she had cobbled together - a little black leather outfit that clung tight to her body, while Lae'zel had thrown on her silvery armor, lugged all the way from the black market lab. Gale was in his robes, looking like he'd stepped right out of a historical, and Wyll was wearing a face concealing hoodie, drawn up around his head. He grinned at you, a bit sheepishly. You were in a tank top and jeans, showing off your muscles and your tattoos, and Gorby Jr was running from wires on your back. You glowered at him, then picked him up, tucking him under your arm.

"We got some problems," you said. "If the cops find the guns we have stashed in there..." you nodded to the buggy. "Then we all get caught for gun running. We still have to help those tieflings. We gotta get the tadpoles out of our heads-"

"We don't got to help anyone," Astarion said.

"Vampire says what?" you asked, glowering at him.

He opened his mouth, then closed it, pouting.

"That's what i fucking thought," you said, frowning, then looked back at the others. "I think we cut it down into shit that's easy to do. We find somewhere to sell the guns."

"Or we take them to what passes for the local constabulary," Gale said, nodding. "Surely, they won't be pleased to learn that this General Ketheric is getting armed with what appear to be quite deadly weapons, no?"

You frowned.

"Can we trust these cops?" Shadowheart asked.

"I thought you were the one telling me to not be racist," Gale shot back. "Just because they're orcish constabulary-"

"I don't trust any cops," Shadowheart said, frowning.

"Ah," Gale said.

Wyll frowned. "...who was it that Christopher Johnson said was the crime lord that, uh, messed up his home?"

"Ethel," Gale said.

"...think there's any relation?"

Wyll pointed and you turned - the whole group did. There, blazing in the center of the city, visible thanks to its prominent placement, was a great big neon sign.

AUNTIE ETHEL'S

And to the left of it was a buzzing outline of a girl thrusting her hips from side to side, flickering back and forth. To the right was a stacked set of three words, highlighted top to bottom in a repeating pattern: GIRLS SEX BOOZE GIRLS SEX BOOZE. At the bottom, underlining it all, was a glowing burst of text: WE TAKE GOLD.

"...well, that's my kinda place!" you said, grinning.

Out of character: you have 6 hours before your guns are discovered and you're in trouble. If the guns go away before then, you're in the clear. It doesn't even need to be all of them, if you just get your illegality at or below 13, you're good beyond some light hassling. If you get it to 9 or lower, you don't even get that.

...the majority of the illegality is from the TEN SUBMACHINE GUNS, that's a flat +30 right there.
