All your other links seem to be purged of sin already but I may be wrong
This was a fun read.
links should be fixed in chapter 1. 3 as well, I think, Ni's responsible for fixng that one. And thanks for saying it's a fun read! that makes the brian meat happy.

Makes me wonder if anyone's tried to shoot a full movie or serial in GBO before.
Pretty sure some people have made fanmovies and series in GBNO. But nothing offical, it's kind of a landmine in temrs of copywrite laws from what I understand.

Isn't it just another sensation to enjoy, for the heavily-corrupted?
What's this?

A chaos depiction that's not just endless brutality and excess, with over the top violence, grotesque relations, and bottomless cruelty?

That's downright fuckin' novel for 40k.

it's trite and boring is what it is. It's like the most boring, blandest slop you can serve someone. Its like eating pure sugar or salt. It fills you up if you scraf down enough, but it sure as shit isn't healthy and it lacks any characteristics since there's no meat to it.

Yes, this does mean that the DEldar are making themselves into tasteless cardboard to avoid getting eaten by Slaneesh.

Pretty nonstandard take on Slaanesh and pain, but it sounds more interesting than GW's lore. And it's not like Bandai gives a shit as long as you pay them and have fun.

From what I've been told, it's because torture is more family friendly than scraping the bottom of R34. Not that Slaanesh gets any spotlight outside of books and when a videogame includes all four gods.

Anyone who wants to burn her just 'cause she's a witch can fuck off and die.
Imperium in a nutshell where they see anyone with extraordinary abilities and new technology as threats to be eliminated.

Death of Integrity novel demonstrates that as the DAOT (Dark Age of Technology) A.I. spaceship was disgusted of Imperium after they burned her captain and she destroyed their forces (easily locking their power armor and systems, and one shot their fleet with one of her ship's cannons) before leaving the galaxy.

I wonder if Galatea will encounter that DAOT ship and make herself an ally to the captain and the A.I. at some point.

Plus imagine the upgrades to her Gunpla with DAOT tech.

There's definitely a campaign for it somewhere, with what I've learned of this community. Unfortunately, unlike GBNO proper content, there are no rewards whatseover for doing Warhammer stuff. No cosmetics, no part blueprints, no decorations, no nothing.

The only upside is that this means that decor for the troops hub (where you can poke them in between campaigns/battles) is freely available to everyone from the word go. Although I think there's a bunch of stuff for it and for characters that's only obtainable via trading with players. Like how there's legit clothiers in GBNO and you can buy the data for this or that outfit off of them to slap on your avatar.

Nice touch with the daemons never actually calling themselves or each other daemons. Much easier to keep Gal off-guard. ;) But I thought all daemons but the princes were also called neverborn, not just the fighty daemons?

I've never understood this. My friends dad when I was growing would always say, ironically and about media, "violence is natural but sex is not". Boy howdy has that been borne out more and more by a modern media. Not that I'm in favor of like, soulless forced intimacy inserted to tick a box, but the way that even that has disappeared while the banal ultra-violence has ramped up more and more is just gross.

Anyway, all this to say that this is nice, fresh, and engaging in a way that a lot of stuff isn't nowadays. lol it's honestly a big reason that I'm starting to get into gbno, cause its source material is (from what I've seen (Not much 😅)) fairly immune to this also.

I've been kinda meh on the story aspect of 40k, but seeing fan interpretations like this makes me wanna take a closer look at the gameplay aspects! I've never done the whole painting thing though… any tips to get started?

To my understanding, daemons just plain don't call themselves that. It's apparently purely a mortal thing to call them as such. They will consistently refer to themselves as neverborn unless they're screwing with someone.

Also, I don't think it's implied anywhere that neverborn is only for the fighters?

I mean. Getting a dopamine rush from splattering things in Doom or Warframe is entirely fine and everyone enjoys it, me included. And I do kinda get the point of not showing the drugs, sex and "sweet jesus, what was the artist smoking" depraved doujin and eroge shit.

People, despite all efforts, see videogames as something marketed to children and teenagers first and foremost. And you sure as shit don't want to make something twinge in their brains regarding drugs at those ages, nevermind how teens are liable to think even the most depraved shit is cool because they're genuinely brain damaged.

Still sucks that we can't have villains with more variety than just "schemer" and "kills/tortures things".

Also, since I got sidetracked, the whole "oh, nyo, sex. Icky!" thing does make no sense whatsoever. It is purely pearl clutchers who don't remember what being a teen is like getting up in a fit. Kids either are so young that they'll go "weird, whatever" because they just don't have any of the wiring for it yet, or they already hit puberty and are some flavor of horny.

Not even asexuals are exempt from what I've heard of the one ace I know. They get a worse deal, because they can't just jack off and be fine for the next few hours. Instead they get cravings for PG13 intimacy.

Anyway, all this to say that this is nice, fresh, and engaging in a way that a lot of stuff isn't nowadays. lol it's honestly a big reason that I'm starting to get into gbno, cause its source material is (from what I've seen (Not much 😅)) fairly immune to this also.
Mhm. That's the good thing about fan content. You get a fix of all the shit you've been craving since forever and everything you didn't know you wanted besides.

And yeah, Gundam really takes no shit from what I've heard. I hear Witch from Mercury is meant to be an entry level show, so I may give it a watch at some point. Y'know, when I'm not being consumed by this campaign, regular GBNO content and working on kits/minis. It really scratches the itch for a failed arts major like me.

(I also have a job. Very flexible schedule of "so long as you meet your quota and deadlines we couldn't care less", but it still has me spend half the day around the country five days a week. Which, hey, is the whole reason I got the job. But it does mean less time for hobby shit outside of doing some GBNO stuff thanks to the console being portable.)

I've been kinda meh on the story aspect of 40k
Honestly, kinda same? I hear it's got the comic book issue of a hundred different authors with wildly different interpretations. Plus the overall "everything has gone irrevocably to shit and only gets worse from here" is too dreary for me.

But the thing that I was told is that all the official lore should only serve one purpose: Backdrop for your dudes. It gives broad strokes context that you can play with or defy as you like, the important thing is the narratives you build for your units.

I've never done the whole painting thing though… any tips to get started?
Alright, biggest thing? Do not, I repeat, do not jump into it full on. It has a pretty high price of admission if you want to whole-ass it. You need tools for building, for painting and the kits themselves. It's going to be a very expensive mistake if you buy everything and find out it isn't enjoyable.

What you want to do is go to your nearest crack den game store that does wargame shit and ease yourself into it. They will often let you borrow everything you need to build and paint a single model as a way to encourage people into the hobby.

If you want to try the gameplay side of things. Well, it depends on if you want the VRMMO or the tabletop experience. For the latter, you just have to buy Virtual Tabletop and join a discord for warhammer players using it, they'll sort you out with everything else without having to pay another cent. For the former, I'd recommend buying some already built and painted minis of whatever faction you like and playing Killteam content. At minimum you just need a single fireteam plus a HQ (aka leader) unit you'll sub in as your avatar.

When you say that you sculpted these, what tools/resources were you using?
Oh, uh. Okay, so. The main thing is called "green stuff". If you want to do GBNO anything, make sure it has P-Particles. Anyways, it's basically clay that you can then treat to y'know, not deform like plastilina every time you handle the mini. Beyond that there's a fair few types of resin you can use if you want to cast stuff (can't say much on that because I haven't had much impetus to buy and use it). Both benefit from inserting wire, like straight up just random copper or aluminum wire, to make it hold up better if it's a bigger piece.

I mainly use stuff from when I tried to get into art school and then make it as a twitter artist, plus a bunch of shit Cheese sent me as a gift. I'm nooot sure if they sell the former outside of spain and it isn't exactly the best for this stuff anyways since it's meant for bigger sculptures. While I'm still in the process of leaning how to use the latter, so I can't give it a honest review.

Oh, also. Very important: Do not, I repeat, do NOT get P-Particle paint. It's like liquid plastic, nothing can remove it after you put it on. If you fuck up with it, that stays and you can only cover it up with more paint, which will look bad.

EDIT: Jesus fuck that post got away from me. Perils of being online late at night. I'm just going to whip up some food and go to bed. Thank god I got a flexible schedule.

Well, this should be interesting, and I'm looking forward to the things Galatea punches the snide/smug/etcetera out of. Not sure if I want to find out she punched out an Ork Warboss or something else.

Oh for sure! I was thinking more about movies specifically for that. Maybe it's a USA thing specifically? But what has been considered pg-13 has changed a heck of a lot in the last decade or so.

Yea that's the only show I've seen all the way through (mostly cause it's free online and also not super long, also felt a bit obligatory to sit my queer ass down and watch it what with all the hype on that front). Really enjoyed it.

Oooh okay, that's good advice, thanks! I… definitely have more than a few things lying around from projects i got halfway through but never actually finished… probably better to dip a toe in first.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond!

Oh, right, I didn't explain how she works.

(Also, food's cooking on a timer so I'm stuck here anyways)

Okay, so. Ironarm. It boosts strength and toughness enough that a regular human is upgraded to Ogryn/Space Marine grade for the duration. It also gives you absurd armor piercing because blunt force go brrr and also because you can just, y'know, tear someone limb from limb.

That's not the important part. The important thing is that it has a sub-power. It is called Smash. What it does is really, really simple. For a few seconds, one or two limbs are enhanced into having double their current strength and durability. As in, the buff is factored in. There's also a cooldown so spamming it isn't an option, but good fucking god, the unholy things I can do with this.

So, yes. We punch good in this house and yes, an ork warboss is getting his bell rung at some point.

I was thinking more about movies specifically for that. Maybe it's a USA thing specifically? But what has been considered pg-13 has changed a heck of a lot in the last decade or so.
Can't say much there, since it's been like a decade since I went to the cinema.

Good to know, definitely goes to the to-watch list.

Also because I got the white haired co-protag dogeared as a potential cosplay in GBNO. My normal use avatar can copy her look pretty much one for one other than the height.

Oooh okay, that's good advice, thanks! I… definitely have more than a few things lying around from projects i got halfway through but never actually finished… probably better to dip a toe in first.
No worries. I know this can be pretty overwhelming to get into. I had the benefit of Cheeseman being a veteran at it who walked me through it for the gunpla shit, and he has a bunch of friends who know Warhammer for the other half (he's only a couple months into WH). So I just consider this paying it forward.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond!
And thank you for commenting!

Honestly, I didn't at all expect this little thing to get so much attention. I know it's only like five people being properly active in commenting, but it still feels like a lot.

May actually use the channel for more stuff once we're done with this campaign. I heard something about a program that turns your GBNO avatar into a functional 3D vtuber rig. May be fun to show off Galatea while working on minis or kits.

Oh, that reminds me. I went really extra with my main avatar (not the one you saw in the video), so we are toying with the idea of campaign!Gala getting the right mutations and blessings to look like GBNO!Gala (it's actually my username, we went with that in the campaign because no sense in me having to learn to respond to a new name) since they aren't that far apart to begin with.

The Orks would want to build their own brand of mobile suits after seeing Galatea in action and since she uses Monoeye Superiority Gunpla, they will have their machines have cyclops eye too.
I was weirded out for a moment, then I remembered I posted some pics of the Fishbone here about a month ago.

From what I hear, people don't tend to mix Gunpla and Warhammer stuff much. 40k has Titans, but none are capable of flight or spaceworthy, so while you CAN theoretically try to use one in GBNO missions, in practice you'd take hours getting to the mission field. On top of any missions with an aerial or space component being non-viable.

(Although from what little I've heard of Orks, they're definitely the one faction that could just strap some rockets to their titans and make it work)

I may make a slaaneshi themed gunpla after the campaign, tho. Probably a new kit, I want to save the Fishbone for when I'm much further into the hobby and can give it a complete overhaul.

Pretty much and if you think of Orks as humans, imagine them as Coop from Megas XLR show.

The main protagonist who was able to somehow reverse engineer an advanced giant robot and makes it work by believing it can and added any new weapon or feature into it so long it is so cool, logic be damned.

"Heh," The flying imp chuckled as she kept pulling, her face turning redder and redder from the exertion even as her mistress got to her feet, "Ngh-Ngho, I can't fight at all! I'm a muse, we help people like you– what we want is a few neverborns, I know a few that can help."
I read that as implying that Ariel isn't a neverborn, and that her either nonexistent or trash-level fighting prowess is why.

The one I Iow-key called you Slaaneshi for spending months on when you accidentally leaked it? ;)

And they won't let you have a Chaos titan walk in through Space Hell, I'm guessing. :p

Good morning. Fun fact, my introduction to warhammer was Cheese carting me over to an ork warboss who explained all of the crunch and most of the fluff to me.

I read that as implying that Ariel isn't a neverborn, and that her either nonexistent or trash-level fighting prowess is why.
Huh. I just... completely missed that. Probably because I already knew "neverborn" is for all daemons so it didn't register. Uhh. We'll just say Ariel was so excited she worded things weirdly.

The one I Iow-key called you Slaaneshi for spending months on when you accidentally leaked it? ;)
Iiiiiiiiiii forgot about that, christ, how many of you from back there followed us here? aaaaaaaaaaaa.

But, yes, that one. I'm really proud of it, so showing it off beyond the people I interact one on one with would be nice. It isn't like you get to see other people's faces when doing GBNO missions, since pretty much everyone filters the videocall screens out of the HUD as unnecessary clutter. Nevermind when you get enough sync that you're only seeing things from the MS' perspective.

And yes, I was pegged as a slaaneshi on sight by pretty much everyone in the WH group that Cheese introduced me to.

And they won't let you have a Chaos titan walk in through Space Hell, I'm guessing.
...Huh. I'm actually not sure if making warp rifts for fast travel is allowed by the game outside campaigns. @Hastar ?

Although that'd still leave the issue of any mission involving aerial shit or space are no-go. So yeah, I'm probably just going to make a daemon-engine themed mobile suit and see how much I can fluff as 40k tech, daemons and psykery/sorcery.

Between Gundam already having psychics (Newtypes, I think it was) and GBNO's spagetti code, I can probably throw around some technomancy and telepathy once I learn 'em. Although some stuff may be gated behind the custom supermove system.

Gundams are supposed to be giant mechs powered by shounen energy, I think? I mostly know them from memes more than anything else. Get your hands on some Hereteks and tell them to go nuts, the results will be very funny. Guarantee.

I mean shit, Titans already exist, why not any other combat walker?

To my limited understanding. Mobile Suits are the blanket term for mechs in Gundam, while Gundams are the super speshul prototypes the protagonist gets to ride with zero qualifications.

As for the Dark Mechanicum... they're in a difficult spot. AdMech proper get a lot of content, but apparently their chaos cousins are the neglected ginger stepchild. I heard some mutterings about fans trying to put that to rights, but I didn't get a clear picture and I was more focused on sorting out my shit anyways.

But yeah, if I make that daemonic MS, it's going to be fluffed as either some archaeotech shoved full of daemons until it works, or something the DaMech cooked up.

They allegedly obey the laws of physics.
Haha funny glowing fairies get mad and turn from green to red.

I don't know what that meme is from, just that one of the series had a generator with such nonsense that this was "yeah, that may as well be it".

Huh? You just said the same thing twice.

Gundam 00 had their bullshit-particles come in green when used right or red when they're used in the way that gives you turbocancer, so that's my guess.
