[X] Plan Secured Connection
Say, thinking about this. We tend not to get much use out of the Stancati as things stand. Now that might be changing soon as humans tech up and so the strategic range of the Stancati begins to expand, but I'm wondering, is there a way we could specifically source a Gnolumgi formation from the Stancati? It seems like a natural progression from their status as a vassal entity. Particularly how we seem to be doing the EU4 Early Modern era of centralizing the Karaz Ankor under the High King, and in this era using foreign manpower to bulk up the armies was very common, especially among nations that were wealthy but lacked in population. But the Stancati are going well at the moment... though they have a very different culture to their neighbors. About 95% of them are farmers but these are there to support the maximum number of professional soldiers that region can satisfy.
Those soldiers largely come from generational families and like the Spartans, are drilled from birth, dawn to dusk within the nearest population centre...though the pre-eminent one there is damsterest, the alt-marienburg of the region.
These cities all also serve a particular god as their pre-eminent sponsor. This was Ariete, originally, their native war god. However he long ago fell out of favour to Ulric but also Grimnir in some cites, with certain 'fad' gods often arriving, becoming prominent in a few towns and then falling to one of the dominant ones. The soldiers of these cities will follow the strictures of their patron gods to the letter and the various cities will host 'mock' battle regularly, with the loser often adopting the god of the victor.
This high stakes battle (from the gods perspective) means that it isn't altogether rare for divine influence to be felt in these battles as one god tries to claim ascendancy over the stancati, though it is never ridiculously overt.
It has led however to Stancatia becoming a theocracy, led by the high priest of the dominant god at the time. Which does mean that there can be some very sharp shifts in domestic policies depending on which god is presently in the ascendancy and how strictly the high priest expects even non adherents to stick to their gods rules.
There is something of a merchant class, especially in damsterest, though much of this is handled by the dawi diaspora rather than umgi, who in Stancatia consider only soldiering, farming and priestly business as respectable professions
What are the orc and chaos and necro dice doing? Is higher better there as well?
It would just be a normal invasion, Karaz A Karak has endured those many times before and its new underway connection compensates for most of the lost invasion abatement due to the hold now being effectively garrisoned by the High Throng, and the Elder Runic Equipment.@Sir LagsAlot are you sure about turning of the Eyes of Grunghi if something decides to attack us it could be devastating?
I made the swap before going to sleep last night.@Sir LagsAlot I really think we should turn off Axes of Grimnir and turn on Gates of the Underearth, 3 power masterwork that provides global*, if minor, attrition and invasion reduction is amost certainly better than a local 2 power one that halves invasion chances against hold that contains bit under 15% of our population.
* yes it's technically a regional masterwork but it affects all of our holds except Karak Skarrenduraz that do not really need it.
Natural ones trigger the invasions, not high rolls that's why there wasn't an undead doom dice army this turn.As long as it's not a 20 we are fine. If it is that's invasion.
The recruitment went so well, the new legion could contribute to the battle in the same turn.I'm pretty curious to see what the Gnolumgi recruitment success looks like, we hit 3 times higher the required DC. Maybe reduced upkeep cost?
Generally, for recruitment actions like this, the DC is just permanently lowered by one if we roll really well with an extra reward when the DC hits zero, where we're now allowed to form throngs out of the unit instead of just professional armies.I'm pretty curious to see what the Gnolumgi recruitment success looks like, we hit 3 times higher the required DC. We won't be able to dedicate any actions to tech rolls for a while unless we roll a five-action warrior king, although we want to start taking the Support the Guilds action going forward so that we can eventually get it down to a DC of zero and get an automatic second tech roll every turn.Feeling pretty convinced that dumping actions into tech dice should start happening soon^TM it's been so rough with not getting any of the rolls.
Sidenote, is there any special benefits from getting the 10 roll on greenskin clearing?
Their waystone is still sending power, so they are still alive. And generally conquering province 105 (formerly Uzkulak) and connecting to Dum is pretty high on the priority list (I personally believe we should do that even before reconquering Ungor), but we really need to deal with Nagash at the moment and can't spare any action or money on that.By the way we should at some point in time visit our other locked hold to check up if they are still alive
what will help is the "support the guilds action". If we take it enough the DC will start dropping, and when it hits 0, something new might be unlocked. Also the tech situation Is shit.
But now we are connecting hold so maybe the new traits help?
I think sending a party and just making sure they are up on our level of tech can save a lot of lives sure there are many pressing issues but that one is too plus its just one actionTheir waystone is still sending power, so they are still alive. If we get a King with enough AP, it's doable, I think.I think sending a party and just making sure they are up on our level of tech can save a lot of lives sure there are many pressing issues but that one is too plus its just one action
Right if the action seems doable we should do it right away at least thats my opinion if the action is harder I still think we should try to do it but I can understand why people would think otherwise I think we should do it just to show them that Karaz Ankor hasnt fallen and will try to help them given that morale is very important in these kind of situations for example the whole Hashut business wouldnt happen if the Dwarfes knew help was coming
Population matters if we give them the technology they can resist far better giving us more pops to work withDum held for millennia longer than this in canon, so contacting it isn't a priority, especially since we're liable to connect the underway to it within the next ten or so turns regardless. This rings especially true when we're counting every action and every single wealth right now in an attempt to beat Nagash to Karak Drazh. Holds such as Dum and Azorn simply don't matter by comparison.
Dum has next to no population to work with in the first place. You'd be better served using that action on pretty much anything else if you want more pops. Although with how quickly our population is growing nowadays, population matters a lot less than wealth generation does.Population matters if we give them the technology they can resist far better giving us more pops to work with
We aren't going to be going anywhere fast after reclaiming Drazh as we'll need to spend a turn or two fortifying the place, secure it by seizing Dron which we can only do due to it having an unusually low DC, and after that we need to take a break to build our income up again as this rush is going to leave us in dire financial straights meaning we'll need to settle for seizing mountains like Uzkulak for a while before we can move back to holds or extremely ambitious project like seizing Norsca.IMO after Nagash we should hopefully be able to claim Ungor and then either Dum or K8P.
Then we take Varn.
After that is stuff like Zorn.
I don't think we're going to have a choice due to our economic situation.I would easily be in favor of taking the province between us and Dum before Ungor. It would delay the connection bonuses but it's not like we can't still build the northern underway connections and it would be less of a hit on our population than retaking Ungor anyway.
