Usually, you could easily brush off anything anyone threw at you. But Shukaku was different, that damned demon was so gross and horrible...it just drove you over the edge! With an annoyed sigh, you went out of the village (after getting the okay from the guards of course) and began to vent. You threw large amounts of sand around, created various sculptures before smashing them back into sand, and overall just let loose any negative emotion at the desert.
Once you were done, you were drenched with sweat, but you felt much better after all of that. You gulped in a breath of air but it was then that you noticed someone floating in the air near you. Turning around, you saw a man with spiky red hair with deep black rings around his eyes, similar to yours. He had a large jug on his back and he watched you calmly.
"I noticed you practicing while I was on the cliffs," the man said, his voice calm and controlled. "You must also be one of Shukaku's Jinchuriki."
It took you moment to connect the dots. "Ah. Nice to meet you, Gaara. Kinda weird we've never met before, heh."
"I suppose. We haven't had much reason," Gaara replied. "So, what are you doing out here? I know I said you were practicing but the way you moved was very violent."
"Tch...I was venting. There's only one damn thing that could make me so pissed," you growled.
"Shukaku?" Gaara correctly guessed. You nodded and he crossed his arms. "He is a wild beast, even a fragment of him can cause such disturbance, hm?"
"Yeah, you got that right. Have you figured out anything? Like, to deal with him?" you asked. You felt silly for asking someone younger than you about such an issue, but he was the only other person you could talk too, barring the Jinchuriki who held him before you did. But you had no idea where he could be.
"I don't," Gaara answered plainly. "He might be the reason I have power over sand, but its my own power. I cannot depend on him to help me. So I ignore him. Try as he might, he cannot do more than bother me in my dreams."
"I know trying to team with him is a really bad idea, but I need the strength. The last battle I was in...if he didn't help, I would be enslaved. I'm sickened I had to depend on him, but..."
"I understand. Tell me, why do you want to control his power so badly?" Gaara asked. Despite his age, he felt very wise and sagely. You knew he was being groomed to be the Fifth Kazekage and you were seeing exactly why.
"It's for the Sand Empire. I'm sure you know as well as anyone that the Sand is on the weaker end in this world war. If it wasn't for this desert, we may have fallen long ago. I love this village. I love my empire! That's why I am willing to do anything to protect it, even if it means working with Shukaku."
"That is very admirable. What we have in us...is a vast source of power. But it comes at a cost. Tell me Nou, do you feel like you're weak?"
"Huh? Hell no! I just want more power. The protect the empire I love!" you exclaimed.
"I see. Just be careful that this power doesn't corrode you. Power is addicting, and it can lead to ruin," Gaara muttered, looking at you seriously.
"I know that! But no matter how much I train, I don't get any stronger. I've stalled out! That's why I've been so focused on Shukaku, he can..." you trailed off.
"Give you more power instantly," Gaara sighed, finishing your sentence. "Nou...I want to spar with you."
"Huh? Why?" you asked, confused.
"Show me how strong you are, show me your determination to protect the Sand!"
"...Fine! You want to see my power? I'll show you the power of one of the Desert Three!" you exclaimed. Gaara gave you a smirk as the two of you flew a distance away from you. A trail of sand began to flow out of Gaara's jug and formed a hazy cloud over him.
What will you do?
