The Great Age of Piracy [One Piece]

I settled for combining both name recommendations and call it the Golden Dawon. And yes it'll have plenty of fire power.

32 cannons, swivel guns, fire barrels, plenty of gunpowder for the men should be ready immediately. I'd put on rams, motors, heavy shot cannonballs, armor and even more if I didn't feel it'd be pushing it for the first ship. But it leaves stuff to look forward to. A galleon is basically a Man o' War in the same sense that two buff guys are the same, one is just dressed in heavy armor and weapons, so I'm planning to work up to Man o' War status.

I freaking love Man o' Wars. Maybe even with further modification the cannons can be increased to 40, the highest number of cannons I know of on a galleon. (The Queen Anne's Revenge, aka the actual Blackbeard's ship) I actually didn't think I'd look forward to having a ship this much.

Also Tabun is going to pick up a pair of hawks as pets. I don't plan to use them in battle or grow in size, mostly just there for aesthetic and to fight off crows. Since Gally already approved freaking raptors I don't imagine I need to ask permission for that.
Don't forget to do the research in the archives.

Name: Sam "The Impaler" Malkovitch

Faction:
Pirates

Age:23

Appearance: Sam is 5 foot 8 and looks pretty indiscript. He has brown eyes and messy brown hair. He is in pretty good shape, but he isn't really a front line fighter, so nothing rediculous. He is currently wearing prison rags and manacles, though he doesn't really care about fashion beyond that he likes the color red(even before his whole serial killing thing).

Personality: Neutral killing. Sam actually seems like a pretty kind and well adjusted person, completely at odds with his serial killing persona. He also will never kill someone he cares about. He doesn't actually know himself why he enjoys killing, other than that it makes him feel warm and fuzzy. He was in fact born this way.

History: Believe it or not, Sam didn't have a hard childhood. He had nice parents who were reasonably wealthy, weant to a decent school, and had very little experience with pirates. He was also bored out of his mind. So one day, just to see if he could, he killed a cat, and he liked it! So he decided he'd try again, maybe with something harder to kill. The next few years were the most fun in his life! He quickly moved up from animals, realizing humans were so much more fun to kill. And so, the serial killer known as "The Impaler" was born. The funny thing is that his parents and teachers thought he was such a nice boy. This weant on until he was caught by an actually competent marine(apparently those exist, who knew?) and sentenced to the gallows. He is currently waiting in prison before his execution, unless someone saves him, that is.

Crew:
Currently hopeing one helps him out of his predicament.

Boat: None yet

Devil Fruit: Has sadly never even seen one, not that he actually knows what they are, as he has lived relatively sheltered from pirates and marines until recently.

Fighting Style: Sam likes to kill, and it shows in his fighting style. His first human kill was when he impaled someone with their own fishing spear, hence the name, and so he has mostly run with it. However, he would actually make a much better assasin than front line fighter because, while he certainly knows how to use his spear and knives, he has no formal training. He did kill many people in their homes, so he has learned how to be very stealthy. He can also pick locks very well and has a... first hand experience with the human body, so he is actually a better medic than the average pirate, though he is much better at taking things apart than putting them together.

OOC: Because being a Villain is fun.

Edit: removed most of the OOC stuff to be brought up later if this character is approved. I've changed almost everything about this character as it was brought to my attention that this character was an edgy villain sue. Disregard statements of me wanting to be more of a main villain. I'm now hoping towards being someone's token psychopathic( though I'm pretty sure this is the wrong word) teamate.

Name: Sam "The Impaler" Malkovitch

OOC: Because being a villain is fun. If I'm breaking any rules or anything please let me know. If not, any pirate group that is looking for a very experienced fighter and that isn't afraid to kill people (many, many people) I would be happy to join. If you aren't a group that is okay with killing, don't offer. Also, I'm not quite sure how to get started in the main thread so any recommendations are appreciated.
We've got some pirates spread about the early Grand Line and a few...well, nicer ones at Loguetown.

As for how to get started / any rules you might be breaking...? You should be waiting for @Gally the GM to approve the sheet.

Name: Sam "The Impaler" Malkovitch

Faction:
Pirates

Age:23

Appearance: Sam is
6 foot 1 and very muscular. He is reasonably tan. He wears a simple pair of black pants and a blood red cloak and always keeps the hood up, so his hair, eyes, and nose are covered. If he took down his hood it would reveal Brown eyes and rather messy brown hair. He does not wear a shirt under his cloak, but it does completely cover him, so his chest/abs are not exposed. If in an intense fight, he will remove his cloak. He claims that the cloak was actually white, and that the red coloring is actually just stains of human blood.

Personality: Chaotic Evil. He is a sadistic and probably insane man who takes pleasure in murder. He is actually quite cheerful however. He takes special pleasure in murdering people named Nathan. He also refuses to ever leave survivors, claiming that leaving survivors is just asking to get yourself killed in revenge. He claims that he had a rather normal past and, as anyone who claims to have known him as a child turns up dead, this has never been truly verified. He loves the color red and good music. He very much loves his weapon and will very brutally murder anyone who makes jokes about it (You have been warned).

History: He actually had an identical twin when he was born. They were great friends and did everything together. That is until a group of pirates on a ship called The Blood Soaked Maiden pillaged his village when he was 10. Him and his twin were told to hide inside the house while their parents fought off the pirates. Unfortunately, Sam's parents were merchants, not fighters, and they were quickly cut down. The pirates than started pillaging the houses until they came upon the house Sam and his twin were hiding in. Sam grabbed a knife from the kitchen and told his twin to run, as he would hold the pirates off. This did not end well for Sam and he was quickly knocked out. When he came to, the captain of the attacking pirates, a man named Nathan, told Sam that he had killed Sam's twin, but that he had left Sam alive because he needed a new crew member and felt Sam may actually have some potential. What followed were 12 years of carnage as the crew of The Blood Soaked Maiden continued to pillage every town in its path. During those years he grew a love for the art of murder only rivaled by his hatred for Nathan. He eventually ended up as Nathan's first mate. The day after that promotion, he took the spear he had become known for and impaled Nathan in his sleep. Other than Nathan, he was easily the strongest of the members of his crew, and he swiftly cut them down. He left the ship after that, but started wandering after that, going to out of the way villages to small for marines to care about and killing all the residents in as painful ways as possible, before moving on. He currently has over 300 kills credited to him, though that is the known kills he committed after murdering his crew. He has recently been trying to find larger, more challenging fights to keep himself from getting bored and feels that joining a pirate crew may be the best way to do that.

Crew: Currently searching for one, though if He can't find anyone Sam may go solo

Boat: None yet

Devil Fruit: Is of the opinion that Devil Fruit users are wimps.

Fighting Style: Sam's main weapon is his spear. It is made out of a special type of metal to be nearly indestructible through ordinary means. He uses it in an extremely offensive fighting style that utilizes the extra length the spear provides in quick, sweeping strikes before finishing up by impaling the opponent. The spear is also a ranged weapon however, and Sam can throw it hard enough to easily impale his victims even through buildings. When he gets serious, Sam will take of his cloak, allowing him to move with even more speed and flexibility. He also keeps a gun, multiple knives, and a pair of seastone handcuffs that he took from a marine he killed on his belt under his cloak. He is very experienced both at fighting single, powerful enemies and large numbers of weaker ones. If he is unable to win a fight, he may retreat, but he will continue to hound said victor with guerrilla tactics until the one who beat him is slain.

OOC: Because being a villain is fun. Also, keep in mind that while Sam Malkovitch plaid have a bounty, he is thought to be dead. "The Impaler" is thought to be a separate entity and, while he is wanted for over 300 cases of murder(among other things) his habit of not leaving survivors means no one actually knows what he looks like.

Edit: removed most of the OOC stuff to be brought up later if this character is approved.

I actually like it, seems like he'd be unique. But you might have to dial down the "always murder" if you want to get along with anyone. Pretty sure none of the current pirate crews will be okay with that. In fact they would almost certainly stop you, and of course marines would, so you'd be looking at enemies all around.

Unless he just plays the nice guy and hides his true intent until he's got someone one on one in a fight and kills the hell out of them while everyone else is distracted. Which would be interesting to see how it'd get done, but is almost just as risky. Definitely wouldn't get away with town murdering, no matter how small. Either way I think you're looking at a tough run with that character as is.

I'm actually planning to play as an antagonist of sorts towards the nicer pirates and the marines. I'd probably have to discuss it with @Gally, but my goal with him is to eventually get him powerful enough to force different crews to team up to stop/kill him. For this reason, I want him to be seen as extremely evil and villainous, as it gives more incentive.

Yeah your character is the kind of person that would make Vincent switch from his Paralytic to the Super Lethal Oh god it burns!! Poison.

The issue I'm having is that what you want is narrative weight to be that villainous guy that we all have to team up against. You're already a character that, with the confirmation above from Vincent, every single PC we have would probably consider you to be a horrible human being and deserving of more than just a beating depending on the character alignments. You've made this murderous bastard that we probably would gank you and possibly kill you (intentionally or not), and you're looking to get GM approval for narrative strength / weight to actually need all of us to take you down — this Villain Sue that is so extra speshul that he, "is of the opinion that Devil Fruit users are wimps", and needs to be ganked by multiple PCs...

...okay I didn't need to put it so harshly, but the Darkness "Blood-Drenched Cloak" McEdgehog nature of villainy is really not doing you any favors... You are aware that it wouldn't be red by now, right? And the twin-brother cliché too? There's not even any effort in how he somehow breaks and falls in love with Lady Murder out of nowhere...

*sigh* If you wanted to fight against PCs with a murderous bastard, you'd be better off making your own quest / RP to manage. Just my personal opinion; sorry to have gotten into a ramble

Fair enough. To be honest, I don't really care about the backstory and am totally unattached to most of the details of this character. I'm willing to tone down almost anything about this character if needed. I may change the backstory and stuff to try and lose the edginess. Also, while he thinks devil fruit users are wimps, it's mostly because he himself has yet to find one and is rather annoyed about that, not that he is necessarily stronger than them. This is my first attempt at making a character so I actually really appreciate the feedback. :)

You know if you just want him to be merciless, that can work out, he just has to get along with one of the sides. Going solo, especially where most of us are already in groups, will leave you always running away. All of our characters are going to be getting stronger as the RP goes on, but you can reserve a logia fruit if you wanted one for in the future, which would make him pretty damn strong. Either one already in canon or one you make up yourself, just clear it with Gally.

You'll pretty much have to change that character to at least act different. My character, Tabun, is merciless in the sense that he actively wants to kill pirates and would even "accidentally" team kill a few marines mid-battle if he thought they were evil enough to deserve it. But he's rational so he still gets along with fellow marines. So I'd just make him a bit more rational and less "I'mma kill everyone cuz it's fun". For example, you could make him a berserker type where he only goes kill crazy when he's really pushed to it and possibly tries to hold it back, or narrow down him wanting to kill only marines because of some hatred to them or just to scumbag pirates.

I'm still aiming for a character that likes to kill because he finds it fun, but I changed up a lot of Sam's backstory and personality to be much less about killing everyone and a lot more able to interact with people. He's actually a pretty nice guy, he just loves killing. :)

Personally I'd build in some sort of fascination or personality trait that works with the killing. Like have your character have a survival of the fittest mindset with a touch of bloodknight.

@Bladestar123 If you don't post soon, I'm tempted to throw something at you in my coming post

Most likely a pirate I'm currently embroiled in combat with :V

Also, 'dat PM thing CX

@Camellia @Sucal

We can progress and move out whenever you guys finish up business in town, or stay as long as needed, Tabun can show up at the boat ready to go immediately or later. If you need an excuse to get to the boat, just say a marine informed you which one. I'm just waiting on some more posts before I do anything else.

Appearance:
Personality:

  • Quiet

History:
I was a marine LT and a damn fine one at that. I was proud and trained hard with my blade every single minute I could spare, passing off much of my work to my NCOs Then the navy gave the order I will never forget, and In my weakness executed it. I try to block out those memories, however some things you can never forget and the body of a young girl hanging off your sword is one of them. We killed them all. I broke out of the haze of combat, staring into her eyes as they dimmed, snapped me to clarity. I broke my sword over my knee, leaving a scar on my palm from the blade. I found the nearest cliff and threw myself from it.

I awoke in a temple, monks nursing me back to health, I confessed my sins and they taught me of the path. The path of Zen I saw it as a second chance, divine fate having saved me. Death was to kind, I needed to atone. Years blurred past in meditation, training and quiet works to help everyone I could, in time I learned the art of the monks, the physical training an act done to provide clarity of mind, mastery over self to continue training past pain or suffering, to be stronger than ones mind and as I trained I swore to never hold a blade again.

Now I find myself on a pirate ship, but they will fight the marines, and I think I need to do that. Atonement, maybe revenge I will have to keep searching inside myself for that answer.

Devil Fruit:

Fighting Style:
Tai-Chi: A simple hand to hand style about the flow of internal energy, normally open palm strikes and the redirection of the opponents force. Often mixed with acrobatics, quickly rolling, jumping or flipping over furniture or terrain to gain an advantage.

Water Dancer technique: Most monks learn to run on water for short distance, some take it further learning to run for as long as there stamina remains, and even to strike the water with focused strikes for a few effects. Examples including splashing in an opponents eyes, throwing a wave of water to hide a dodge or adsorb some force from a blow even to throw the monk away with a sudden burst of speed. Notably this is not any type of magic, or mystical technique just mastery of combat on water and the far extremes of what someone can do with it.

Fire breathing: Normally just a carnival trick, but in close combat spitting out sake as you ignite it can be a surprising and lethal attack.

Archery: Skilled with his short bow that has far, far more pull than one would expect it is the only weapon that he will ever use, mostly because he has consistently used it to hunt and feed the hungry and against guns and canons some type of ranged weapon is a necessity, knows how to use his sake with a bit of his robes to make flaming arrows Because fuck enemy boats.

Sorry I haven't been posting, works been kicking my ass and it takes a lot more work to write a lazy post!

I'll do something big when I get back home tonight!

No questions comments or concerns on my sheet?
I do like it a lot — might even convert you to this growing band of privateers on Loguetown CX

But alas, at present you're waiting for the GM to confirm thy sheet — @Gally made a post in his quest yesterday so hopefully he'll make a round over this way soon

Good, good anyone fighting the marines I'm in for.
