    [X][PLAN] Future contracts

Interlude 23.2
You end up spending the next couple of days talking with the others about different commissions, though you mainly talk about it in reference to the pottery you would be selling. Apparently, more than a few people want to purchase much larger pots than would normally be available and would be willing to place the payment in trust over the winter in order to purchase it.

Apparently, it was one of the services that Seaford provided. A group of trusted individuals who would keep money or other forms of payment in holding to await later services.

By the time you reach Tartonzan you realise that you are going to need to make a decision.

Tartonzan is actually one of the major stops along your journey, since the river-route here means that goods from the coast, such as salt, fish kelp and spices from distant lands can be traded here at a discount as compared to Seaford. Revealing your ability to work metal here would mean that you could establish trading relations and gain access to materials such quicklime when you meet these traders in the future.

On the other hand, you know that smiths are an extremely rare resource, and revealing yourself might attract unwanted attention that you haven't had the chance to prepare for.

[] Reveal your smithing ability
[] Keep it hidden

A/N:
My apologies for the delay, overslept by about four hours.

[X] Reveal your smithing ability

We have a large amount of abilities towards speeding production and a lot of time before we have to make good on those commissions.

[X] Reveal your smithing ability

yeah, there is little reason to not do so. Yes, someone might come to kidnap us later, but we ought to have been able to build up some protections by then. It takes time to prepare a raid and kidnapping attempt.

we are up to something like x8 when it comes to repairing the wall, and can ritually make it magically super. and will probably soon have jaffa weapons, or at least a magical spear or so fairly soon.

Heh everyone jumped on that one like... we always sort of did intend for the blacksmithing to be known though.

Thinking about it though, you didn't bother handing out warnings about letting our more mystical abilities out but it's the smithing that gets the warning... makes me wonder if the old smith was targeted because the local lord doesn't want technology progressing and blacksmiths end up being a force for technological progression. if you don't have metal you can't climb the ladder of metal ages.

That said, we do have to show ourselves sooner or later, we should probably make sure we take on apprentices and teach some of those smithing skills.

[X][PLAN] Discretion is the soul of valor
- [X] Discretely reveal your smithing ability, only to potential suppliers of the raw ores, quicklime, and other materials that are useful to the profession. We need suppliers to get things up and running.
- [X] keep an eye out for a youngling with the knack that we might arrange an apprenticeship so we can make a dent in the disturbing lack of metal workers.

There isn't a write-in option for this vote, and discretion in this case means don't tell anyone. So, of course a goodly chunk of us are going to reveal it.

As for getting warnings.

Emizaquel has repeatedly said that so long as we're in the starter village, we'd have to really try for their to be consequences to our actions. The starter village. We didn't get warnings for the magic because it literally didn't matter if we revealed it to the villagers of the starter village. We're no longer in the starter village. There be consequence to our actions now lads. So, yeah, we're getting warnings about choosing.

As you head into Tartonzan, you dig through your bags for one of your blooms and make your decision.

When you enter town, you are among the first to set up a display for your wares, settling down on a spread-out blanket. the bloom remains close to you, where people can see it, but you can stop anyone from grabbing it.

People ask questions about it, and you admit that it is iron that you can shape, carefully feeling out prices for what you might be able to get away with.

It takes a little effort, some back and forth. The people in Tartonzan live only a little more than a day's travel from Oaknethes and can afford to more easily make the trip to the village in order to pick up your deals.

So you are careful not to over-promise. As it stands you receive a single commission while you are here, of an iron spear, for the local hunters to go boar-hunting with.

You still stand to make a great deal on the purchase. The locals make a number of offers but you settle on:
[][PLAN] Accept the offer of pearls, coral and other semi-precious resources.
[][PLAN] Accept a large supply of salt - several dozen kilograms worth. Many people use salt as a sort of medium of trade.
[][PLAN] The locals have a small amount of gold from prior trading and are willing to part with that.

As you close the deal, you feel your power reach out once more.

Sometimes more people will not help a situation, except when you are at the helm. You know how to organise people and break down tasks in a way that means that more hands at hand are always a good thing.

Shuttle (250)
A small aerospace shuttle, capable of orbital insertion and return, with up to twenty tons of cargo, within a 4x7x12 meter habitable storage bay. It can be piloted by one person, but the cockpit has space for three additional crew that can assist in piloting. It has enough fuel for one round trip and you gain sufficient skills to carry out such a mission.

the shuttle we have no use for for now. this isn't the most useful for us, but it's... enough, I would say. would have been better before the harvest, but it's fine. Can maybe be of use for us all helping in getting the travel be smother, or when we start fixing up the village more.

seeing how we are going away to trade, I would say we get that so we can buy stuff, and prepare for winter

I'm tempted to suggest taking neither. The shuttle is obviously the best choice for us, but we don't have a warehouse or garage yet and it'd lead to too many questions. I'd rather save the points and hopefully roll something juicier next time.

That shuttle... We talking something like the destiny's shuttles? Or something else?

Being able to efficiently break down a complex task in a way that multiple people can work on it, is not a small thing.

We do have a garage, we can summon stuff from it and put stuff in. We just can't enter ourselves yet.
