True, but thrown weapons are part of who Tenten is. And so I think we should stick with that, rather than abandoning it for purely pragmatic reasons.

That, and thrown weapons are inherently more pragmatic for a ninja.

What I mean by that is there are no equivalent archery charms to the observer-deceiving attack or the mist on water attack. There just aren't any subtle archery charms; if you shoot an arrow at someone, they might not be able to dodge it, but they know it's coming.

Also, Cascade of Cutting Terror is best Charm.

Because this is Exalted. You can't just beat someone up with their own. You have to do so with style and panache that the fan and the other weapons fall in love with you, then lead a rebellion against the squishy fleshbags in your name.

Or you have to hit her so hard she turns into a duck, goes flying off, then explodes into a nuclear fireball.

I'm going to be closing votes in about an hour

-[X] You can feel the way your new strength flexes in your chest, and you want to exult in it. Weapons, all weapons, are yours and yours alone. You are the Queen of Steel and these Tools of War will Bend to your Will. Her hand is not on her fan, in this singular moment of shock: replace yourself with it, spinning a staff from the ground to your hand in a glittering arc as you slam the haft into her abdomen. As she falls, your dragon of metal will rise again to follow her down with a shimmering wave of steel, shackling her to the ground in a blanket of wire and blades. With your opponent immobilized, flicker in to menace her exposed throat with the staff still in your hand; she willcapitulate to your mastery.
    [x] Win
-[X] Cut your way through. You can't get your weapons past her wind, not while her guard is up. And you can't dodge those wide, sweeping attacks. So you won't. With precision benefiting a Legendary Shinobi, you cut the chakra propelling each of the attacks. Relentless, you charge head-on, your weapons cutting golden limes as you throw and slice the once-deadly wind into a harmless breeze. When you get close, Temari raises her war fan to block you. It's a beautiful weapon: strong, sturdy, and delightfuly oversized. You'll add it to your collection, please and thank you. She's expecting the taijutsu and the blades, but those are now distractions for the moment you slap a storage scroll on her fan and seal it. It's yours now, as is the match.
    [X] Plan : Homerun 2.0

--[X] Sublime vigor fills your limbs, and you feel more alive than ever
    [x] Win
-[X] Sublime vigor fills your limbs. You dash toward the girl, faster than you've ever been, faster than you can believe. You launch a flurry of kunai and shuriken, easily dodging and weaving through the clumsy winds of blade summoned by your panicking ennemy.
    [x] Win
-[X] This fight is already over. Your enemy simply doesn't yet know it. Following instincts you didn't have even mere seconds before, you draw a single kunai from your pouch and raise it high towards the ceiling... then swing it carelessly down towards Temari in a motion both too obvious and too lazy to seem threatening. So harmless-seeming is your action, in fact, that it's only as you finish your swing and your now-empty hand touches the arena floor that Temari realises something is wrong... and by then, it's too late. Blood splatters and Temari collapses- her body pierced from every angle by not only your original kunai, but hundreds of shining golden replicas, thrown as one in a single hidden instant.
    [x] Win
[x]launch every blade into the air once more, but no longer stay at the center of this tempest. While Temari blows away your whirlwind of steel lunge between the blades of wind for the holes in her defense the large motions of her fan force upon her, and take her down with Taijutsu worthy of the students of Might Guy.
    [x] Win
[x] Throw a smoke bomb down, move and throw a brace of kunai to the sealing with explosive notes attached, as the explosions destroy the ceiling, throw down another smoke bomb and move. Keep bringing down the roof to create more falling stones, use them for cover until we get in close.
    [x] Win
    -[X] Go for the kill.
[X] Plan Grist for the Mill
    -[x] Win
--[x] You were foolish before, leaping and flinging your weapons into the air when faced with a wind-user, dancing to her tune. But you still have your wires, and all your weapons around you; you can make them dance once more. This time, though, take the ground away from your enemy by turning the arena beneath her feet into a whirling maw of metal teeth. The ground will blunt the force of her winds, and taking her footing away will prevent her from getting the leverage she needs to really swing that fan.
--[x] From there, grind her to dust. Your target has one big weapon, which she can't let go of without losing immediately, but you have hundreds of weapons, of every shape and size, which means you can vary your reach at will. Dart in and strike with daggers and kama; strike from angles with scythes and chain sickles; or just run her through with a spear; whatever it takes, whatever she's not expecting at the time. Draw her into your maw and chew her to bits.
    [x] Win
-[X] Throw a single kunai at her. Let it dance and cut through her defences before it strikes unerringly. Then throw another until she is pinned to the wall like a strange butterfly.
    [x] Win
-[X]Energy and Strength flows through your mind, your heart, your soul. It sings to you, a million ringing tones, a symphony of life and clashing steel. You can feel it resonant and call to you. A call that you answer. Weapons, all weapons are yours. No... They are you. You are the Steel Angel, and these Tools of War shalt Act as you Will. The arena is covered in weapons, is littered with your new servants. As one they rise. As one they move. The golden haired bitch can throw around as much wind as she desires, but when there is not a single space that is empty, it matters not for she cannot stop them all... Especially not with the Fan that you call to your hands. For hers is a weapon of war all the same, and it belongs to you.

Not true. There's a charm that as long as you can see the target, no matter how far, you face the same accuracy checks for hitting them as if you were ten paces away.

And then there's the one that turns any arrow you shoot into a rpg.

And then the one that multiplies the projectile you're shooting.

:V

Oh my, that was a nice fortress/base/small town you had there. (Because Demolition missions are a thing still and just being able to engage from a range they literally cannot match is still an advantage you shouldn't turn your nose up from).

Thrown is good for when you're already in battle, but at that point it usually gets outmatched by Martial Arts.

Tenten's going to continue to use it cause it's her thing, yeah, and the Thrown charms aren't bad, they just get... redundant in more than a couple, though not all, cases.

*Shrug*

Is it bad that I want to take the knockout blow charm and proceed to one-punch man everyone?

Well that would be one way to get around how combat seems to drag on forever in a forum-based game....

Besides, Tenten has a Hyuuga on her team. Use Glorious Solar Teaching Bullshit to get him even just the "heroic mortal" version of archery stuff and Neji can be an extreme-range sniper in the early stage of engagements, before she takes over once entering Solar Bullshit Throwing range and he puts his bow away to get even closer and do traditional Hyuuga melee things, and Lee buzzes around as the hammer to his anvil and her tongs doing excessively youthful melee things.

(this also patches his egregious ranged weakness that almost got him killed against spider-dude later on, not at all coincidentally)

Eh... to be fair to Neji, none of the other Rookies would have fared any better in that situation than he did. It's not really that he specifically is bad at long ranged combat, so much as almost all ninja who don't specialise at it are bad at long ranged combat.

Come back next week on "Is this a throwing weapon?" where we explore the practical applications of dynamite.

When you're a Solar, everything is a throwing weapon. Mortals can get close, but lack the glorious bullshit to throw things like mountains and whales since they have to rely on paltry crutches like "muscles" and "physics" and "common sense."

To be fair, I don't think there are many Exalted who could beat Uchiha Madara. And I'm not talking about ring-eyes super-duper meme Madara, I mean baseline Madara, before he's even died for the first time and stuff.

I read up on the Dawn Solar charms, and frankly, none of them allow you to throw a giant meteor at your opponent. So one point to Madara.

Does Tenten craft her own weapons?

Every fic that focuses on her (you know, all 5 of them) has her as some kind of smith. Not sure if thats supported by anything in canon.
