My first quest was only a couple weeks ago... It really depends on how you strike the community I guess? But mine had no posts for nearly 8 hours. When I finally did get a post.. It was just one. And by the end, it was being pushed along by 2 or 3 people, until I decided it was time to axe it. I think mine also had an appeal because it was something slightly different from the norm (though that slight difference is what killed it.)
All that said, I'll pm you some tips, but I'll put in my vote for now
[X]Write In: Loot the corpses, never know when you may find something useful, or sellable. (I don't know if 17 gold coins are substantial or not)
[X] Just keep goind, if you go back to your village you will have to either spend the night there or set camp outside, and you really want to get some progress after all this work.
It's late, I will continue tomorrow.
...wow. I suppose I was just extremly lucky of how fast pased this quest has been so far. If you don't mind, how was your quest called?
Maybe... Or I'm missremembering my quest's pace. Be willing to take it a bit slow for a while, and if things turn south, start over. No harm in restarting a quest after giving some time to think it over.
So, since almost nobody is talking to Juan I decided to make another vote.
I will give you a list of suggestions about what you can say to him in exange of a roll in Tempt of Fate, your choice:
[ ] Accept help, go through Tempt of Fate.
[ ]We are alright like we are now.
'Hey there, what's a plemarius? Also mebon-sized main should be worth quite a lot, if you're willing to carry that weight.'

Votes closed. General voting seems to be to loot the mebone and keep on going. I am occupied right now so don't expect anythin in the next hours. Also here is a loot roll:
[X]Loot the mebone.
[X] Just keep going, if you go back to your village you will have to either spend the night there or set camp outside, and you really want to get some progress after all this work.
I won. It would be a pity to just go back. I sit on the ground, reach my backpack and take out some ale and meat.
(The taste of victory = -5 stress = 25/100)
After resting a little I approach the mebone. 'Hey there, what's a plemarius? Also mebon-sized main should be worth quite a lot, if you're willing to carry that weight.'
There you are again. However this time is different. The voice is not in my head but behind me. When I turn around I see a transparent shadow standing there. It just looks like human shaped cloud. So no insanity, cool, instead is possession, not so cool.
I look at... it? Him? Her? At least it/he/she is friendly. Ok, let's try to be friendly too.
"So, you want to know about plemarius? I will tell you about plemarius. According to legends, fairy tales and common knowledge plemarius are a variation of harpies known for having 2 arm-wings 2 additional wings in their back, having feathers made of gold and livening in the island of Lavania, and yes, it's filled with lava. You can already tell whoever decided the name to thing was not very imaginative."
I turn around to inspect the mebon. As it turns out, he was not wearing 1 but 2 mail tunics. Between the tunics and the hoses you have 60 kg of mail. What to do? What to do? Oh, I have an idea.
I go back to the corpses, take some of their clothes and tie them together into a big bag. I drop all the mail inside.
His cloth armor is just padded, not layered. But fuck it, to the bag you go. I also find a book and by the grammar it looks like a journal. In times like this it would be good to be literate. You grab it and the metal teethes you sent flying earlier as proof of your victory.
New quest: A dead man's journal
'I don't know if 17 gold coins are substantial or not.' In my head again, is there more than one? "I am filthy rich. I mean, 1 gold equals 20 silver and a silver 20 bronze. With 10 gold you can buy yourself a small farm, I swear one of the corpses belonged to a merchant. Maybe for a merchant or noble it isn't much. But for a peasant like me, no, an adventurer like me, it is a lot."
I think back to the current drought, the war in 'the far away countries' and bandits of the forest.
"Maybe you believe it is a cheap excuse for suicide. For me is a cheap excuse to leave a mark in the word."
(Quest: 'To adventure I go' updated.)
(3rd encounter 1d100 = 46 Neutral)
"Holy..." I look behind me and see a dumbfounded bandit. "Kid, did you beat all this zombies?"
"Yes?" He isn't even going to raise his weapon? "How old are you, kid?"
"Last week a became 18, why?" He looks at me, then at the dead mebon.
"To the hell with this. I am going back to my village." He turns and walks away...
Well that was easy.
6 hours later
(4th encounter 1d100 = 65 Small success)
"Tanks for the help"
"It was nothing, after living 230 years life just get boring, it scares me to think how it will be in another 200 years."
"So, is it normal for elves to leave the forest?"
"Let me teach you something: the worst companion of life is monotony, be it short or long, even those who dedicate their life on studying always search new knowledge."
I like this dude. Finally be reach the next village.
"Let me welcome you to my house"

[ ] Search for a literate man. Maybe the elf?
[ ] Ask around for the mebone.
[ ] Discover what the scroll is for. Cost: 4 silver (Magic is very expensive.)
Author's note: Writing in the middle of classes with your phone is not easy.
P.D.: Especially when you forget to writhe the choices, fixed.
[x] Discober what the scroll is for. Cost: 4 silver (Magic is very expensive.)
'I have a hunch that the scroll is of plemarius summoning and the jewel is a summoning stone. I'm not very sure, so it's better to double-check. Also I have no idea how summons work so it's better to ask that too.'

"Be the way, did a mebone live near here?" That got his attention. "Why do you ask?"
"Do you remember how you complained about me carrying a bag to heavy?"
"Yes?"
"It has the armor of an undead mebone." He looks at the ground and covers his eyes with his hand. "How did he look like?"
And then I told him, I told him about the undead, the mebone and the journal. Since we would end up standing outside the village like this, he invited me to his house.
"Can I have a look at the journal?"
"All yours, I was going to look for someone who could read."
He starts reading the book. "Yeah, is him. Addison went some dies ago with some villagers to protect a group of merchants as they traveled to the south. Yesterday they came back, with lest people. Some bandits appeared and swarmed them, however Addison stayed behind to gain time to for the others to escape. Since the bodies had thing of value, I say he killed so many that they ran off and then succumbed to his wounds. Only to rise again as an undead."
He raise from his chair. "I, as the elder chief of this village, thank you for giving my friend rest." Well, this make it feel like it's worth it.
(A word of tanks = -5 stress = 20/100 stress)
"Wait, so you are this village elder chief?"
"I think there aren't that many people who lived more than 200 years." He shrugs. "You know how the system works." Well that is something done I suppose.
Quest: Dead man's journal. COMPLETED
Reward: 20 bronze coins.
...Did my pouch just grew heavier? Na, it must be my imagination. Darkness covers my face as the fire in the middle of the house becomes the only source of light. "Human houses are stupid, you know? Well, not stupid, they do the job pretty well. Is just that I find the idea of using clay and wood to make walls and put a fire in the middle over simplistic. If you ever see me again or meet an elf ask them to show you their homes. You will be amazed."
"Will take not of that, be the way, would you happen to have a mage in here."
"In fact we do. And the best part, she is the only human mage that I know that doesn't overcharge. Which means that instead of being outright impossible it is only insultingly expensive! A bargain, I assure you!" Ok, I admit. That took a laugh out of me.
However, as I go to the mage a cloud appears in my way. 'I have a hunch that the scroll is of plemarius summoning and the jewel is a summoning stone. I'm not very sure, so it's better to double-check. Also I have no idea how summons work so it's better to ask that too.'

...
"Hum, sir? Are you alright" I turn slowly to the woman next to me and fail to suppress the smile that decors my face form ear to ear.
"Never been so well in my life."

Find out who the mebone was and how he died. Maybe there is a reward for dealing with him?
Author's note: I have no time to finish this part. There is no choice this time but you can say whatever you want to him.
The woman hesitates a little before responding. "If- if you say so."
'Hey, why are you smiling?' Oh, my little parasitic friend, because if I can summon a plemarius I will obtain a loyal flaying companion that is covered in gold and is immune to heat. Wait, can you hear me if I think instead of talking?
I look to my left and right, I'm not going to start talking in the middle of the street at night. However, what to do now? I could try to summon her after I leave the town, so no one can stop me. And yes, if you try to summon a flying monster from a burning land they tend to not like that.
Is to say, this is the kind of thing that is given to heroes that do something for a race. There isn't much of a difference between having one and receiving knighthood. Now the problem is where to get a summoning stone. The kind of thing that leave a stone like that tend to kill everything in front of them. As such there are way more summoning scroll that summoning stones, that, and the fact unlike knighthood monster kings, queens and whatever rules them tend to give them away like candy to remarkable adventures. Makes sense, if there is an adventure that turn out to help you, make him happy by giving him something that is potentially very valuable but on its own is almost useless.
I could also try to see the mage to confirm what it is, but if it is in fact a summoning scroll...

-[ ] 'Where exactly does this 'hunch' come from?'
Author's note: Well, this happens when you have to divide a post in half.
Now something important: I would like to know if the reason there are so little votes is how fast passed this is and no everybody can participate. If so, I am willing to reduce the speed to 1 post per day to make it easier for people to vote.
And yes, that summon scroll is way to overpower. And yes, this is what happens when you hit a 100 in a loot roll.
Yes, we can hear you thinking.
[X] Take the risk, trust in the shadow's hunch summon the plemarius when you are alone.

From this strange awarenes we seen to have of your current state of being, that as far as i know.
Also why do bodies rise as undead ?
