I'm on work trip right now and can't always find time to do long posts. Emiliam looks like he's making ass of himself. Old name I liked better, it was more funny.
Well, come to think of ot you are right, is just that I belived people would find dificult to understand it. But you know what let's put it back. (Changed to original title)
For those that missed it, the title I changed to was: The maimed adventurer's journey

What do you do for fun?
And obviously there are also the voices in your head, well, shadow and blue cat. Pretty sure you can talk to those while on bed, but what about? No limit of options.
[X] So you can change forms and talk to me, what else can you do?
'I don't know, this is actually kinda new to me as well.'
[X] Alax:
-[X] General life story.
-[X] Any objectives?
-[X] Why did you eat the summoning stone?
-[X] Write in -
Would you like to learn our language?
After eating I decided to take some time to talk to Alax, after all I the only one she can understand.
"Hi Alax, I want to talk with you. Are you free now?" It is a little uncomfortable talking to someone so tall. Sure, they were a lot of mebones back home but that doesn't make it any easier.
"Yeah, there is nothing to do here in the first place. What do you want to talk about?"
"Well, why don't we start with a little of general story life? Having some basic knowledge would be fine, we are from distant places and different races after all." She nods and sits on a rock. Now our faces are at the same level.
"My family has worked on the army generation after generation. Sure, from time to time a member of the family would dedicate to something else but there was always another sister keeping the tradition. Living in Lavaria... is hard. Maybe you know this, but when you heat up something it starts to glow. Now try to imagine that everything and everyone around you, even you, are constantly glowing." She takes a small breath.
"The reason there are more things than just elementals and spectral beings in there is thanks to our nature. You see, our souls create a force that hold us together and prevent us from smelting. So there isn't a lack of creatures with meat, most of the time I eat high temperature lizards or fly over the mountains to get some fishes or something. There are also organized hunts from time to time. Our society is pretty isolated from the rest. Not because we don't negotiate or anything, is only that there aren't that much people that can come to our homeland."
"And do you have any objectives?" She smiles in response to that question.
"Before? I was a captain, my objective was to reach the higher position possible, obtain honorifics and to serve my kingdom and the queen. I have participated in no less than 21 battles in order to defend and expand my kingdom. Now? I have been summoned and by contract I must serve you. But, if it isn't much of a problem, I would like if you tough of Lavaria as an ally."
"...That war, I think in here we call it the war of 'the far away countries.'. If I am right, the king of this lands is neutral about it." She raises an eyebrow at that.
"...I just realized I could have said that speech to someone in war with my country..." Pretty sure she would have face palmed (wing palmed?) if she had hands.
"Well, what about you? How has been your life until now?" She asked without hiding her expectation. Well let's start with this.
Human nobility.
"Let me get this straight. Option A: a knight wants to get armor and a horse or whatever he wants, the point is that he need money, so he gets land from a noble or the king in exchange of becoming their vassals so he can pay the bills. Over time he gets more land from other lords or the king and then knights come to him asking for land, becoming him in their lord, aka a noble, and the knights on his vassals. Option B: you are someone who does a great service to the king and he grants you the title of noble and some land, similar to how we give summoning scrolls. Option C: you don't do anything, you aren't a knight who sworn loyalty to anyone or have ever done something great. Just because your father is a noble you inherited the title of noble."
She breaths profoundly to calm her anger, or to show her annoyance.
Forgive me, but from where I am from, if a familiar has a status your status is that of having a familiar of high status. In other words, you inherited her proprieties but not her title. Oh, and let's not forget Option D, my favorite: you are rich, you make yourself a castle, buy an army and proclaim to everyone that you are the lord of those land and if someone doesn't want that he has to come and take you down. And if no one can do it in a year you are recognized as a lord."
She laughs a little.
"I can see how many merchants did that as a way to say 'Fuck you' to the king."
We both share a laugh at that.
Human merchants.
"So, a merchant goes from place to place, from city to city, so he can buy and sell goods at the better prices. Once he has enough money, he hires people to work for him in exchange of a secure income and the opportunity to work on the cities. To regulate and control all the artisans the merchants form guilds: shoe making guild, textile guild, blacksmith guild, etc. So if you get into a guild you get a place in the city and no one from the guild is going to put you out of work but it regulates you in a way that you can't improve more than the other members of the guild. Seems like a very strict brotherhood to me."
She takes a small time to think.
"And obviously, the peasants go to the city looking for jobs. With time they might get enough money to contract other people or start traveling to sell goods. And thus the circle continues."
"Yeah, that is more or less how it works."
"You humans make everything too complicated."
Human mages.
"So mages teacher other mages at an absurdly high price so almost every mage is a noble, a merchant or self-taught. Being a mage doesn't give you nobility but is still a great title, like a knight. I wonder was there ever a noble magic knight?"
"Not in this land that I know about."
Human peasants and serfs.
"...Please, please tell me you are not in this category."
"Obviously not, I am actually the king in disguise." This time the lack of hands didn't stop her. Solid fathers of gold impacted her face at high velocities.
"...Continue please."
"R- Right, so a peasant works all the year to get food from himself while a serf gets security in return of working the land of the lord and assisting at war. We all pay taxes in the way of ale producers and bakeries but only the peasants needs to pay for the land, since the serfs are technically propriety of the lord."
"And the reason you aren't in a farm is that...?"
"That I simply can't keep up. You see, I lost my hand so I am going to the adventure guild in the city. One of the service they provide is a cheaper education."
"Seems like a cheap excuse for suicide."
"Oh, come on. You simply don't get the spirit of adventure."
"Whatever you say, Juan."
"Well, changing of topic, I saw you eating the summoning stone. Why?"
"That, my dear friend, is a secret and all I am allowed to tell you is it has to do with royalty and religion."
Ehem, what?
"And will you never tell me about it?"
"First get married with one of the princess or save the kingdom and then we will talk."
…ok?
"Well, then another one. Would you like to learn our language?" This seems to have genuinely surprised her.
"...Yeah, I suppose. But wouldn't that take like 3 months, or more. Come to think of it, just how much does it take to learn a language? Look, if I have the time, I will try."
"Well, I suppose we will have to see how things developed."
After that left Alax alone and when to Orchestra who was trying to do something with his slime. They stop and turn to me the moment I get close. One of the bodies descends to my level.
"Juan, is there something you need us? We are busy. No, wait. Maybe you can help, but let's hear what you came here for."
"Nothing important, I just wanted to know each other."
"I don't see the use of that."
"What about avoiding conflict in the future?"
"Fair enough."
[X] Orchestra:
-[X] Any objectives?
-[X] Write in…
What do you do for fun?
"So first of all, is there anything you want, in the close or distant future?"
"To live and expand. Well, that was the start. At first we were driven by instincts but as we were more we started to have questions. We became aware of ourselves and started to have thoughts beyond our instincts, be created a personality. Finally, we started to question the reason of our existence. With years of questioning, interrogation and debates between 10 minds we decided that not only our lives, but everything lacked a reason to exist beyond the relativity. In front of such thought, we simply decided to relegate the inexistence of reason of everything as a minor fact and continue with as normal. This kind of course of action of high risks with high rewards seems interesting so we decided to follow you. But something that I want... Well, even if we know its importance is only relative, we want to know why and how we come to be. It is important to us."
"...I have a friend. She is a mage, maybe she can tell us what that ball is."
"...Maybe, but later."
"Ok, changing of topic, is there something you do for fun?"
"Fun? No. Entertainment? That is what I wanted to talk to you about. You see, I am not pretty good at grabbing things. The best I have done can do is make a denser and flexible membrane with a more liquid interior but I lose mobility, so I wanted to know if you could explain to me how do muscles work? What are they structure? I know the basics. You have a solid base, in your case bones, and you have the muscles that expand and contract. Then you have this muscles attached to the part were 2 bones meet or in the bones. I have already tried something. A tube filled with 2 denser parts at the ends and a center part that changes density. The plan was that the center part became more or less denser contracting or expanding the muscle, but..."
"But..."
"But it the damn thing was impossible to maintain completely closed! When it expanded slime came out. When it became dancer instead of contract the muscle it filled the empty space with air, or more slime if I tried to do it inside my body. So, how do human muscles work? What are they made out of? What are their structure?"
...No idea.
What about you guys?

Once that was done I went to my bed. Well, congregation of blankets is more accurate.
And obviously there are also the voices in your head, well, shadow and blue cat. Pretty sure you can talk to those while on bed, but what about?
[X] So you can change forms and talk to me, what else can you do?
'I don't know, this is actually kinda new to me as well.'
Ok, so let's start easy. What are you? You are in my head but are not creation of my mind. I would say possession but you see you standing outside of me. And that is not an illusion since you can see thing that I can, aka the time you told me the slime was dead, you are not omnipotent beings, unless omnipotent beings also make errors from time to time when talking.
Secondary, from where are you? I the wounded didn't get infected and I cleaned their wound with fucking river water. People have died for drinking that stuff.

As I was thinking what to say to him a cat jumped next to me. 'Muscles are made of small cells that can contract on command, pulling sinews. Don't think it'll work for slime though, it'l be more worth it to try hydraulics. Changing the pressure of slime in flexible tubes can move the tubes. It'll take a lot of work though. Hmm, this, what are hydraulics? Also, isn't what you are describing exactly what he just told me didn't work? Are you sure what you just said works when the whole construction and its components are flexible? About the first one, well...
"I don't know if it will work with slime, but maybe you could try to make a muscle shaped balloon?"
"That won't work. We have already tried and everything we ended up with were either muscles that torn under the pressure or membranes to tick for the muscle to be practical. It only works with bigger parts at the cost of mobility, as I already told you at the beginning."
"Then why don't you divide it."
"Excuse us?"
"Right, maybe you haven't noticed this since you tend to dissolve things."
"We can use tools to open bodies, but my vision is kind of blurry, primitives eyes made of slime and that."
"Right, the point is, muscles are made of small fibers, now if you make a lot of small tubes, then divide them into small 'cells' and unite them in groups..."
"...we could make a muscle that spreads the pressure!" Shout all the bodies at the same time in excitement. Fuck, for a moment I forgot the hive mind thing.
"We will need to train to make something of that complexity but expect a muscle in 3 days."
It is strange to see a slime so happy. Now to the core part, I will have to approach this an only a probability.
"...Also, about the origin of your core..." Orchestra stops their little slime dance of victory as all the bodies slowly turn their head to my direction. "Talk." Fuck that is creepy.
"T- There was an empire in this lands around 800 years ago. Maybe they created it? And something like that, could it be that it belonged to a royal mage?" They look me for a moment.
"Maybe, we will have to study into that. Thank you."
He, ehem, they take it pretty seriously, don't they?
"Well, whatever is the case have a goodnight?"
"The same to you."

"...With all due respect Sir Emiliam." He turns to me. "I am the leader of this group, I summoned her."
"...This is awkward."
"Yes, it is."
"What about we talk about this in the city."
"It's ok by me, what was the problem with those guys?"
"The village was just attacked by bandits. I came here looking for men in diconfort with the lord. I have had some good luck, with the bandits around and all that."
In the village you see what seems to be a small force of 500, no 800 villages. Way more people than the village was supposed to maintain, I notice.
"We were attacked by 100 men and we killed 70. They should have been a scout group. Words of the bandits should have spread so the villagers have probably left their homes and the bandits have found little to no resistance, but they should only have leftovers. Most of those villagers have come to me and we are making a small army to get rid of those bandits. I used my influence and in a week or so a group of 1000 'voluntary' adventurers will come to help me" He sights. "I hope is fast enough. Lialianata and Buldanea are at a week of travel on foot to the forest. With 15000 each, who knows how many people will join the bandits."
...That is something I didn't think about. It is really difficult to take 1000 out of villages. But what if people from the city are also in there? What if people has and is still going to the forest? Just how many are in there now? 1000? 1500? 2000? Sure, not everyone becomes into a bandit when you can't sustain yourself. But we are talking about 33000 people in here, including the villages...
"...and why did the lord expulse you from your house? If there is no problem in asking."
"There are... a number of reasons. First of all, he wants to use the money to raise an army and kill the bandits. Less mounts to feed, less food needed. I wanted to ask the help of different mages and heroes to destroy the bandit base, but it seems the idea of less deaths wasn't to appealing to him. It seems he also wanted an army to fight the lord in the east. Now you see, that lord's son is a friend of mine and it won't be long until he survives his father so there is also that. That and, well, some personal problems, of the familiar kind, I want to keep in private."
By the end of that we reach the in. "Well, if there is something thou wants to noise about, now is the time."

As many of you may have noticed, I have had problems with the rolls and the companions. Since the rolls only affect Juan. I have decided that from now on if you have bad rolls in a battle the probability of your companions saving you will be determined by a roll and it will be influenciated by your relationship with them and how powerful they are in comparison with the enemy. This mean that if you are fighting a group of bandits and your companions aren't actively protecting you you might get shoot in the head by a peasant.
"Oh, this beauties? You see when I was expelled, I wasn't given the chance to take armor or shields with me so I had to go around with dueling equipment, having a secondary weapon means you have a more offensive way of defense, no that thee can attack twice as fast, thee can still block and attack at the same time or attack with the 2 at the same time, though."
"But still, why don't you ask for a shield or something to defense yourself?"
"Well, thee see, my clothes are enchanted so I don't need the shield that much."
[X] Who is that centaur?
"Present yourself."
"I am Gloriana of Alcat, faithful knight of Lord Emiliam."
"She is the daughter of a knight that served my father and I know her since I was a child. She accompanied me when I was expelled, proving her loyalty."

Suddenly a shadow takes part in the conversation. 'We need their help. They have a force and resorces and connections. However, you already have a deal going on...tell them of the plan to fight the bandits.' Well, I don't see why Igna wouldn't like us joining force with them. Isn't that what he asked for?
"Thee alright?"
I shook my head. "Yeah, it is nothing important. But you see, talking about the bandits, I have a plan." He stand straight. "I hear you."
"I have some allies and with Alax, my companion, I can talk to contact with them easily."
"And this allies are...?"
"An elf with easy access to elven bows at 5 silver and a mage that sell magic bombs at 10 silver." His eyes open wide in surplice. If he was drinking something I am sure he would have spilled it all over the place.
"Bu- But that is like half of what my mages ask for, and that is with a discount. How?"
"I pay the materials and she does the job for free."
"It's that so, and the elf..."
"He can has some influence and can get the bow with a discount."
"It's that so..." Well, I seem to have impressed a noble, can I hype about this in front everyone back home?

Still, I suppose I could make him propose them something and then they can decide what to do...
"...Talking about allies, in my home village we have some mebones and they could help us out. I am sure some will come since I am asking them and the bandits affect us all but maybe you can propose to give them something in exchange of their support."
"Maybe, how many are thee talking about?"

'Tell them we have a common foe, and with aerial support we can do this.' Right on it, eh- If you are going to be keep talking, could you give me a name? Otherwise I am going to call you shadow boy from now on.
"So this is the thing, I am going to attack the bandits, now." He stops smiling when he hears that. "...I am not very happy with that."
"Is just that if we keep thing like this they will only grow more and more powerful."
"Well, is true but how are thee going to do it?"
"I am going to get a bunch of magic bombs and drop them while riding Alax trough the sky."
"…I won't go nor will I give you my men but it's is true that if we let them continue the roads will be too dangerous for the merchants." He reaches for a pouch in his belt.
"Take this, drop hell over their heads."
(Obtained 20 gc.!)
He turns to Gloriana. "Do you want to go? I know you have a thing for fights."
"You wish you could get rid of me that easy." He shrugs at that. "Suppose you are right."
He turn at me. "Well, I will see what I can do. First, do that attack of yours and I will then see how things develop. If necessary I will use thy contacts, try to not get killed."
He waves at me in a dismissing way and turns to a group of villagers soldiers. "I am going to be busy with arranging the supplies. We bought everything of importance from the market so they went out to resupply, there are 2 mages that followed me when I got expelled but they are too busy preparing protection spells and magic scrolls, the same with the blacksmith, to busy making spears for everyone." With those words he disappears into the crowd.
"Eh, forgive me, Juan, was it?" I turn to the source of the voice and see the merchant and a guy with shield and spear. "Thanks for protecting me the way back here, the weapons got sold like nothing. To thank you I decided to give you this letter, in Lialianata go to 'The drunk rabbit' and you will get a discount." I take the letter, I am incapable to read it but I thank him back nonetheless.
After that I turn to the armed man. "Sir, I see you have wolves and prisoners with you. The… slime thing said they were bandits. I have already taken them and they will be sent to the city so they can be judged. About the wolves, the meat is already unusable so you can either sell them as a whole or have them skinned and then give the meat to… that, the total amount you will get is the same but you will have to wait if you want the meat."
