Terran Ingenuity (Starcraft x Mass Effect)

It will funny if the slavers got some intelligence on a terran settlement, only to find out that they move an hour ago.

"What do you mean their gone!?. Buildings just don't just pick themselves up, and move somewhere!."

*meanwhile on Tuchanka*"finally here, and no ter.....*see a terran building descending*...why spirits!?. WHY!?."

And as he is screaming that Tosh sneaks up behind him and while cloaked answers: "Because we find you funny mon"

It will be funny if a terran command center, could settle in one of the citadel arms. That way they could spam things to counter Saren when he arrives on the conduit.

Wait wait wait.
The Mako can do those stupidly high jumps, right?
The ones that end up with them soaring through the air with all the grace of an Eagle flying a blimp, right?

Doesn't that mean that Vikings are going to be shooting them down when they try, cause of the entire air-to-air missiles and the Mako effectively being a fucking flying tank?

Turian military doctrine is nothing like that. Its actually pretty simple. POWER OVERWHELMING. They have the biggest fleet and military in the galaxy with the common strategy being 'straight ahead with massively superior force.'
So charge forward and bury the enemy under your strength and weight of numbers?
Gee, where could the Terrans possibly get any ideas of how to deal with that sort of strategy?
'Looks and Terran defense setups designed to smash zergling/ultralisk/mutalisk/guardian swarm assaults' I think they'll figure something out.

Eh, not quite. I mean, sure the turians have the advantage in pretty much everything, but I always got the feel their approach to combat was more Shock and Awe than the Bury Them In Bodies approach. I mean, a significant part of their doctrine is 'make contact with the enemy, call in the ortillery.'

Even if the turians succeed in bringing down the Terrans and suborning them into the Hierarchy it's not going to be even remotely over. James loves Sarah, and Sarah loves James right back, that was clear enough in Starcraft 1 during the Char missions, and the Heart of the Swarm picks it right back up from the first missions onwards.

Kerrigan isn't with the Terrans, so she's out there, somewhere...

Jomasten, you aren't thinking crazy enough. After all this is Swann with help from Stetmann and Tosh is tossing in ideas. We are going to be having Thors bouncing around the battlefield like Reapers.

Whether or not the Terran BCs can close the range is the key question here. ME ships have a significant range advantage, but Terran FTL and Microjumping ability should cancel out much of that advantage. It's not entirely clear whether microjumps are something everyone can do in SC, or if it's merely a gameplay mechanic or the result of Swann's customization of the Hyperion. If it's proliferated to all the Terran BCs, I think they have a very good chance of pulling out a victory; if not it'll come down to attrition and who's got the thicker armor.
It isn't game mechanics and all battle-cruisers can microjump, but it is hard on the engines to do consecutive jumps and it drains their power reserves rather heavily.

I've never understood the Mako hate. I thought it was an awesome vehicle and I could both drive it easily and do awesome stuff with it.

And then you face your first thresher maw and fight or flight kicks in.

Some people fight right off the bat while others try to book it, screaming all the way, until they realize there is no escape and turn and fight.

Anyway back to the story. How's the next snip/update coming along?

I've always treated the Mako like a lady myself.

Lady of war that sings around a cannon as big as she is hot with lots of war paint, maybe.
Yeah, that.

I've always tried to treat vehicles in videogames as ladies, they tend to reward you well if you do.

I don't think flipping around like a mechanized wheeled ninja while barely dodging plasma fire/acid while flinging around exploding projectiles counts as treating it right.
She wouldn't a lady of war if she stayed at base! If battle is coming she must be ready and have a steady hand guiding her!

I liked sniping with the cannon, but nothing was as fun as impacting on enemies while on the way down from a jump at full speed.

I kinda can't wait for the realization that all the Turians are fighting are poorly equipped war refugees.

Refugees I will grant, but even by Terran standards they are hardly 'poorly equipped'.
Probably better to name them "Independent Settlers", or "Voluntary Exiles", or "Splinter Colonists"*.
