That's the problem with business. They lie if they can get away with it and it will increase profits, and the policies behind those claims are set by non-tech upper managers and marketers who don't understand the technical details of virus removal at all.Still, it seems a bit of contradiction. I don't know if I would trust a computer store to absolutely remove viruses. I know I have been lied to in the past by computers stores.
The techs being hired are screened by equally ignorant HR people before they ever get to talk to the IT manager.
If the HR people don't hear that the tech has the ability to do what they want using the right buzzwords and phrasing, they get screened out. An honest tech who is wishy-washy about his ability to do so using words like "I can't be sure to get all of it" will get ghosted in favor for the one who says "Absolutely, I can clear a system of malware".
