Tales of a Lost Demigod (40k Primarch Quest)

Student and Teacher
[X] The shield of the defenseless

Raylan stared down at the strange female from the stars, his eyes boring into the back of her head as she refused to stand back up.

In many ways, Mór-Sidhe was somewhat of an unsolvable puzzle. Despite her physical appearance, she was not truly an Aeldari, yet there was no way she was a human either.

Humans, after all, did not grow both physically and mentally as quickly as she did. Humans could not endure the harsh training that Aeldari children went through, and humans definitely did not have souls that shined like stars in the Warp.

But looking past her race, Raylan could not truly say that he disliked Mór-Sidhe. She was hard-working, intelligent, creative, determined, loyal, and perhaps more surprising of all, had a heart so bright that it simply did not belong in this cruel reality.

And it was that last factor that ultimately led to his decision.

"Rise, Mór-Sidhe." He ordered after another minute of silence, relaxing his hard stare as he did.

The girl did so, pushing herself up with a slightly hopeful look in her eyes as they met his own.

He inclined his head slightly. "In light of your actions yesterday, it would be remiss of me to deny you this request." He said, his lips quirking up at the slight frown that formed on her face at his words.

"However," He continued speaking, his voice hardening. "I have no interest in teaching someone who will not dedicate their everything to learning. And if we are to become master and student, I shall do the same."

Then, his voice softened as he gave the somewhat surprised-looking Sidhe a small smile. "Not that I expect you to do anything different, of course. After all, even I must admit to being honored at your request, Child of Light." His smile widened at the blush that appeared at his words. "With all of that considered, it will be my honor to teach you, Mór-Sidhe."

And at his words, the girl beamed at him, bowing deeply as she did.

Raylan hoped that he would not come to regret his decision to teach her. As he looked at the sheer joy and excitement radiating from his new student, however, he found himself knowing that he never would.

"There is beauty to be found in the Warp." Your new master said as the two of you stood atop one of the highest branches of the tallest tree you could find. "But there is also danger."

You listened attentively as he spoke. There was no need for notetaking, not with your perfect memory and recall.

"Before I begin teaching you how to harness the power of the Warp beyond the careless and wasteful manner you've grown accustomed to, I must first ensure that you truly understand what I am speaking of."

He held out a hand to you, his eyes closed. Reading in his body language what he wanted, you wasted no time in grasping it in your own hand, which was only slightly smaller than his own.

"Now focus, Mór-Sidhe, and gaze into my memories." He ordered before then opening up his mind to you.

Doing as ordered, your will sharpened and focused, gently following along the mental pathways offered to you.

And then you saw.

It was a realm of pure madness. Time and space held no meaning, colors beyond comprehension dyed reality itself, and the ever-present laughter of pure evil filled the background.

Entire worlds were submerged here, their surfaces writhing and twisting as though they were living beings. Creatures so horrifying that merely gazing upon them could shatter lesser minds fought and killed and slaughtered and reveled and plotted and and and and---

A roar of a mindless berserker as its blade carved open a creature horrifying to look at and yet filled with temptation and desire, dozens of unnaturally gigantic breasts and penises hanging free from it as it shrieked in joy at the pain.

Screaming louder and louder the ever-changing abomination flailed, magical prowess twisting the landscape as hordes of its kin rushed forward, only to be met by a wall of pure, horrifying filth. Giants so bloated with pus and excrement and viscera as they laughed joyfully and waddled forward.

Four realms, four vortexes, four cancers, four names.

AND THEY WERE LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU

You tore yourself away from your teacher, gasping and sweating even as you trembled violently.

"W-what... What was that?" You asked, shivering even harder as you suddenly felt the need to take the most thorough bath ever.

"That, my dear student." Master Raylan whispered, sounding as shaken and tired as you yourself were as he closed his eyes and tried to suppress his own shivers. "Was the folly of my youth, when I dared gaze too closely into the abyss and almost paid the ultimate price for it."

It was an entire five minutes before either of you spoke again, far too shaken by what you'd seen.

This... This was the Warp? The place where your soul drew power from?

But... That didn't make sense. Not once had you felt anything but purity from it before!

"Do you see now, Sidhe?" Your master asked, drawing you away from your increasingly more agitated thoughts. "The Warp is powerful, and it is useful, but it is also dangerous. You are... Not like us. I can tell that from just looking at you." His eyes met your own. "When an Aeldari draws upon the Warp, they risk their very soul in doing so. You, however... We shall see if you too suffer from the same curse we do."

He shook his head, sighing heavily as he put his hand on your shoulder, squeezing it comfortingly. "However, regardless of the answer, always remember this."

"Never trust anything that comes out of the mouth of a warp-spawn. Never."

For six months, your new master dedicated everything toward training you, and in turn, you dedicated your own everything toward learning. At the end of that time, however, a mysterious figure turned up. Where did they come from?

Sorry about the short update and long delay. Life's a bitch and college ain't easier.

That being said, I'd like some opinions on this update. I debated whether or not to include more of the training arc into the coming chapters, but figured that it might be best if we hurry this up along so that we can get up to the good stuff.

With that said, this coming vote is especially important, since it's going to shape the entirety of the next arc coming up.

I highly encourage anyone that would be willing to write in a custom Craftworld, since honestly, that would be a lot cooler than recycling canon ones.

Ulthwe are the anti-Chaos eldar and we could certainly help with that. Are we ready to go into the stars, meet our maker... and probably fight his servants to the death.

I feel like Biel-Tan is probably going to be the most...eventful. Quite possibly/probably dangerous. But certainly interesting. Probably not voting for it though.

...I was going to vote for Ulthwe because I like canon characters but then I realized-OP, would a Harlequin work as a write-in here?

[X] The Royal Family

Glad this is continuing!

Is this the royal family of the world she's currently in? Eldar have royals? It's been a while so I don't recall.

If so, this seems the best option to avoid the craftworld's scrutiny. I don't have confidence that they (craft eldar) would not just try to cull Sidhe. Ulthwe does seem like best option otherwise.

It's ok, stuff like that comes first since it major affects you after all.

Anyway, what do you guys think of Craftworld Ulthwe being chosen?

Eldrad, a farseer from there, is one of the oldest and powerful of the Eldar race. Plus it's hinted at that he and the Emperor are/were friends. Though he is largely considered an asshole because he's willing to sacrifice millions of innocent if it keeps the Eldar race safe.

I'm a little sad that it's only Craftworldwe can vote for as it would be interesting to see Harlequins.

craftworld Lyandan are the former noblity so they likely did.
Lets stay away from the kill everything that isn't eldar (bal-tan)
Though he is largely considered an asshole because he's willing to sacrifice millions of innocent if it keeps the Eldar race safe.
I cant imagine him and emps being friends cause to similar and both are willing to let the people the others are protecting be sacrficed.

Yeah... It's almost like the poor treatment handed out by the original dominion and the various Eldar factions since then has created a feedback loop where humans distrust the space elves and seek their destruction, and the space elves use this to justify continuing to be horrible.

Except the drukharii to whom being horrible is the point of the exercise.

[X] Write-In: Terra

Anyways I'll cross-post this idea from SB except include my votes in quotes to avoid double voting.
Every Exodite World has a royal family at the top of the nomadic clan structure, and conflict between individual knights is rare. This can lead to a rather interesting friendship with the royal family across the generations, and get Mor-Sidhe a lot of insight into how to lead individuals with rather diverse alongside strong opinions.
[] Craftworld Ulthwe
This is likely Eldrad, and will likely involve a request for assistance combating the plots of chaos. This probably will involve rescuing a brother from a bad fate, or who knows what else.

I would assume if Eldrad isn't here he is doing something else to combat chaos, and Mor-Sidhe will run into him eventually, but a legit friendship would be fun. Also rather sad for Eldrad as Mor-Sidhe will likely remind him of the Emperor before the threat seemed so grave that extreme responses were needed, and they had a falling out as a result.
[] Craftworld Biel-Tan
This will likely involve either a demand for Mor-Sidhe to leave the planet, and she will almost certainly comply as the alternative is death among the clan. While this is sad start to a journey it can have some rather fun narrative ticks.
[] Craftworld Iyanden
I'd like to note that they're currently allies with Biel-Tan at this point, and their Farseers are highly focused on fighting chaos.
I mean the Harlequins would be ran absolute riot as they're doing who knows what at this point. Okay they're probably busy securing the Webway from daemons, would love the help of Mor-Sidhe, and can probably teach a lot about how to overcome chaos with cleverness.

So if people want the clowns they only recognize the laughing god as a authority, and they would come from him. This will likely give loads of insight into the labyrinth that is the Webway, and probably the Black Library.

[] The Laughing God(Harlequin)

While the above write-in would be fun there is one option if players want it there s absolutely a more appropriate one for Shield of the Defenseless. Because if I've got my timeline right a certain little Aeldari Craftworld that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things was caught in the "gravity" of the Eye being sucked into it 500 years later, and 500 years after that a rather legendary phoenix lord who called it home departed after destroying all the Webway gates.

The Fall ended right around the start of M30.
[X] Craftworld Altansar

So anyone up for slaughtering daemons alongside Maugan Ra, and working out a way to help his home escape the Warp? Because they've likely got the Warp knowledge to do something to escape, and are simply lacking the ability to draw upon their powers without risking theirs souls, which makes an Maugnus tier psyker with purity properties like Mor-Sidhe a possible silver bullet for their predicament.

Furthermore I imagine a bit of Asurmen has rubbed off on his students, and he was running a legit charity organizations on a world doomed to be consumed by Tyranids. This being Asurmen he decided to crank his mysterious hero dial up to 11 by showing up in person to have a go at saving Ector by himself.

[X] The Laughing God(Harlequin)

I'm interested in seeing what plans and insanity he has, he won't miss having an anti-chaos primarch on his side

[X] Craftworld Il-Kaithe

Il-Kaithe, meaning "Knowledge of Blood," was once best known for its Bonesingers' creativity. Their talented Bonesingers are said to be able to practice their art even in the heat of battle. Having barely survived the Fall, the Asuryani of Il-Kaithe refused to despair, and so, the Craftworld vowed to seek out and eradicate the menace of the Dark Gods and their foul servants. For millennia, Il-Kaithe has continued its eternal crusade, opposing the Great Enemy at every turn, no matter the cost -- Il-Kaithe will readily ally with their dark kin from Commorragh and even with Mankind to thwart the machinations of Chaos.

Given how absurd Primarchs are I think skipping the basic training arc was a good call, and while I considered an original Craftworld... dragging an entire Craftworld out of the Eye would in fact make a pretty large wave among the Aeldari. This is something that Mor-Sidhe can hopefully start things snowballing into something she can use to further her goals.

Hm. Actually it is possible they're here cause a Farseer have results that Mor-Sidhe can produce a positive results they want on the topic of humans being on a Maiden world, and presume this involves her persuading them to be transported elsewhere.

The Exodite worlds have a royal family on the top, and the Craftworlds are a variety of hilariously complex factions.

While Ulthwe will work... producing tangible results is something that no amount of pride can deny, and kicking whatever is biting down on Altansar hard enough that the Craftworld is spat out works as advertisement to all the Farseers looking into how to defeat Chaos. Since whatever is needed for the Craftworld to achieve whatever counts as "escape velocity" in the Warp is unlikely to be subtle by the end.

Also while it technically hasn't been declared acceptable the update doesn't explicitly note Craftworlds only, and I made an option of someone coming from the LG for reasons the QM will need to decide. This will probably involve a whole lot of cleaning the Webway.
[X] Craftworld Altansar

Fuck it let's go big.
The way I look at it if Mor-Sidhe fails to grow any faction she builds fast enough it'll just get eaten by the Great Crusade, and kicking Altansar free does serve as advertisement to the various seer councils looking into how to defeat Chaos. Sure it isn't free, easy, or even guaranteed to work, but having a go at it is the right thing to do imo.

[X] The Royal Family
[X] Craftworld Il-Kaithe

These are the 2 I prefer but truthfully im down for whatever besides Biel-tan

Edit: invalid option changed
