Week 1.2 "Exploration and Dat Grind!"
You decide that going exploring would be a good idea, it isn't like Lina will die if you take your eyes off her for five seconds. Though you will admit that doing so makes you anxious nonetheless. Before you look around the place though you draft up two quests for her to do in the meantime, it may be using up all your slots for this week but you feel it would be best to set some small goals early.

[Name: "Undead Notes"
Tier: Novice
Type: Non-Critical
Duration: 1 Week
Description: "Research for five hours on the topic of Undeath."
Reward: 150 XP
Penalty: 50 XP]

[Name: "Long Road"
Tier: Beginner
Type: Non-Critical
Duration: 1 Week
Description: "Study or practice magic for 3 hours a day for one week."
Reward: 50 XP
Penalty: N/A]

One thing that caught my eye was the quests "type". Originally "Undead Notes" was critical and when I focused on what that meant it told me that critical quests couldn't be dropped by the User. That... well you weren't really sure what the implications of that were, though you were sure it would be useful if you ever needed something done for sure.

For now, though you would like to just set it to non-critical. That done with he pushed the quests down through the link towards Lina, she was practicing magic this very moment. A small candle flame held out in one hand and a floating rock in another. When the quests presented themselves she flinched and the candle went out and the rock fell. She looked irritated at the interruption but curious at the new quests you had given her.

Well as long as she was happy. You begin to "un-anchor" yourself from her and move your sphere of sight around the college. What you found was mildly interesting all said but also disappointingly expected.

You started with the building Lina was currently in, which turned out to be some kind of practice hall or weird library. Lina, and a couple of other students, were currently in what looked like a couple of side rooms of a large library. Some of what the students were practice seemed to be "normal" magic as much as magic was normal. They did things like make rocks levitate or throw small sparks or freeze cups of water. There was one student however who seemed much older and also had a different style of uniform than the rest.

He wasn't practicing simple magic like the others, no he shot large fireballs from his hand and created sharp pillars of the earth with a simple movement of his hand. Perhaps the coolest thing he did, however, was when he had snapped his fingers and dozens of target dummies around him turned to ash.

That was some A-grade anime stuff right there. Though he did look like had run a mile after that spell which kind of ruined the whole image. Whatever, you move on from the students towards the large library.

Large is probably a bit of an understatement when it comes to this library. You had been to the Library of Congress once and you could say with some authority that this one was probably just as big. It was... humbling to see so many books in one place, just the idea of so much knowledge all right in one place sent a tingle up your nonexistent spine.

One thing you noticed as a major difference was the... toll gates for lack of a better word. Several guards were set up in certain places restricting access to different sections of the library. Even from watching for only a few minutes, you could tell only people with certain access levels were allowed past certain points. That, however, didn't stop people from giving the guards bribes to get through. And by God we're there a lot of bribes, nearly every other person brought a small sack of golden looking coins to slip into the guards hands when no one was looking. So yeah... toll gates.

Those were probably some rich ass guards. There was, however, one gate that seemed to refuse any bribes no matter what. It was a familiar one too, the one you first saw Lina in. Must be that "forbidden" section you heard about from her.

You take a quick perusal of the books in the library but you don't see anything of any you'd recognize that would be useful. Most seem to be about magic and you can barely understand what the titles would represent.

Deciding that that's enough of the library you quickly make your way through the roof and high into the sky. The first thing you see is three other buildings that you assume belong to the college. Other than that their lies a massive city surrounding the college, surprisingly modern-looking buildings dot the city all surrounded by massive looming walls. It's only after a couple of seconds of staring that you realize that none of this is in your sphere of sight and yet you can still see it. You guess you can see things as if you had normal eyes as well..? Damm this is all confusing. Whatever you're not out here to explore the city you are here to explore the college.

Flying towards one of the buildings you phase through the roof and find yourself in what looks like an ongoing class. In fact, all the students seem to have the same uniform as that student who was throwing fireballs and whatnot. Different uniforms for different grades? Possible. Is this some kind of elite school or something?

What the hell are you saying?! Of course it's some kind of elite school, considering the sheer size of their library.

You briefly try to follow the lesson, but frankly you lose what they're talking about five minutes in. Some kind of disgustingly complex geometry, far more advanced than anything you've ever heard of. Some kind of advanced course maybe. You move on and as you fly through the different rooms you notice theirs a lot more practice rooms in this building, though most of them were already filled. They filled with different students in one of the two uniforms you saw and there's even some staff you saw practicing now and then. You could tell they were staff by the fact that their spells were even more impressive.

You saw them throw around weird effects that made your eyes water. Orbs of pure force, lances of what seemed to be constant explosions contained into a needle, and even strange space twisting effects that caused your vision to go all screwy.

Eventually, you left, but you felt like you had a new appreciation for mages. You floated through the ceiling of another building to see... offices. Just boring offices. Sure, there was the occasional use of magic to automatically fill out dozens of forms at once but other than that it was just bureaucracy. This must be the administrative building, you left soonish after that not finding anything interesting or noteworthy in there.

The final building was slightly more interesting, it was the dorm building and to your surprise, you found out all the dorms were co-ed. There were several times you had to vacate the area as quickly as possible, courtesy of several... happy couples. Voyeurism wasn't your kink.

Deciding you've had enough of exploring for the moment you head back to Lina, following the small tugging you feel back towards her location. To your surprise she's still in the practice room, having graduated from candle flame and pebbles to a swirling ball of air and small sparks. A little bored at the moment you take a closer look at the actual practice room while you wait for her to do something.

The room seems to be made up of different sections each with different materials. One corner has various electronics built into it, another corner to your surprise as actual fucking lava in it! The other corners have things like a small barren rock or inset plants and whatnot. Essentially it carries a bunch of different things. Looking quickly at the other practice rooms in the library you also notice that every room in here seems to have different elements in them.

Done with your observations you return to the girl.

...

God, you are bored...

Briefly, you pull up her status and then get a little surprised. One because she earned some XP and two because some of her Mental Stats have gone up in the time you were gone.

How interesting... But, maybe you should skip forward a bit? You could use this time to explore more of the city or outside it but honestly, you are getting a little bored with her slow progress at the moment. Maybe it wouldn't be an entirely bad idea to skip ahead towards next week or so?

QM: Ho boy, I had planned to post this right before the site had gone down. Glad it's back up though. Hope your all doing well since we have been gone!

What can we spend CP on and where do we get it?

CP stands for Control Point, you can use it on making Lina or any User do something they wouldn't normally do. They will fully rationalize it away as their own thoughts and not suspect you. However, if you make them murder someone for no reason they will still obviously react badly and probably freak out that they did so. You get 1 CP every month.

Thanks!

So unless anyone has any analysis they want to do, I guess we just do some exploring and then skip ahead.

swarm the undead in robots they cant revive robots (magi-tech for the win)

I'm waddling back and forth on whether or not Action Analysis should cost Menu Slots. For the moment I'm on the side of them being a free action.
Here's the deal it is always going to be better to do an action then figure out the cost of the action. It will be completely ignored if it's classified as a menu action. This is simple optimization theory. Don't do an action when you can do one that does that but better.

Now the problem is there will be a load of misc analyziations from all sorts of people if it's free. The only thing that really does though is give more info for us the players for effectively free so even if only one person votes for it there's no reason for no one else not to.

Now those are the two clear-cut ones.

There are multiple other options. Limited analysis per turn is the easiest one that doesn't factor into the menu actions.

That works, honestly seems pretty generous. The system was def. pretty abusable before, and as someone who writes quests? doing twelve trillion analysis's every turn gets boring fast.

Hmm, I don't think I've seen a [GAMER] quest from the perspective of the system before. This has potential.
