Be The Icy Beauty! A Xianxia/Cultivation Tale Original - Fantasy

The mighty Celestial Bing Meilu, transmigrated into the body of her child self, must survive in a dangerous Xianxia world all the while staving off the advances of arrogant young masters and wannabe protagonists alike. Why is life so hard for the Icy Beauty?

Instead of the standard 'be the hero, starting from the ground up as a new cultivator' we have the tale of a cultivator who almost reached the realm of the gods... and then made a questionable bargain, resulting in needing to go all the way back to the start.

well written, good story, and we need some stuff not written by staff or council :V

The latest entry in what's become a series of GSRP games (this one being run by @Noco ), Ashes of the Empire III is set in the Star Wars universe, exploring the inner workings of an Empire that has lost its Emperor. As things begin to fall apart around them and the Rebellion gathers strength along the outer rim, the players, taking on the roles of the various scheming madpeople and feckless bureaucrats who manage the dying empire make their attempts to cling to their power, or die trying. Probably the second one.

We've already had 2 failed coup attempts which were betrayed from within along with some mad science, an over-zealous anti-drug crusade, and mysterious force users moving in the shadows. Come on down and take a gander!

Knight of the Night by EternalStruggle

A Kirby altpower Wormfic might sound a little silly, but EternalStruggle finds just the right balance of cute, serious, and Brockton Bay. Sonic the Hedgehog: Freedom Fighter Quest! [CKII Hybrid] Sci-Fi - Action - Superhero

In Freedom Fighter Quest, you are the way past cool tanuki with her own rebel cell on the Yurashian side of a Planet Mobius in chains! The goal of Freedom Fighter Quest is to stand up against the forces that oppress your part of the world and inspire the fight for freedom on a global scale! Or...

A very fun quest taking place in a world inspired by many aspects of the Sonic franchise, taking bits from the games, cartoons, and comics. The quest focuses on Lagoon, an OC who's making waves while building her own rebel cell and getting into trouble with many of the locals. You don't need any prior knowledge of the Sonic franchise to enjoy it- just stick around for the awesome interludes and incredible fanart. Lately Lagoon has managed to narrowly escape death at the hands of the fearsome Iron King, and prior to that we got a very fun look inside Robotnik's head!

SV can't even make a fucking sandwich by Zedalb

A meme filled living shit post of a quest. Yet it's fun and by not taking itself seriously it allows users to very easily step in and joke around with other members of SV. The core plot is that Sufficient Velocity wants a sandwich but due to incredibly odd (memes, shit post and IP infringement) magical events is unable to make one. Yeah that's it, that's the quest make a sandwich. I will be honest, I just think it would be hilarious for the title of this quest to be on a banner at the top of the website. Though people do seem to be really enjoying so maybe the advertisement would be good.

Voting options include suicide (To take advantage of time loop your in)
Telling the GM how good looking and clever he his.
Fighting a bread monster
Communicating with sentient mold
Summoning your Zanpachainsaw
And of course trying to kill the sandwich god.

Why the Stars Fall

You are Shealtiel, once a two winged foot soldier of Heaven. Of course, you Fell. But as you simmer in the consequences of your own actions, you can at least retrace the steps that took you there.

A compelling short story about the most personal of rebellions, and the search for satisfaction and truth though one comes from the cradle of goodness, by @UmbraofChaos. Taking a premise that assumes the fallibility of God, it explores the question of inherent morality and the burdens of faith in a way that is full of character, both through Shealtiel and the others she recalls on the path that leads to her Fall. A very consoling story, in the end, framed by an attentive sense of phrasing and description.

I'd like to second this quest, I'm very much enjoying it for a fun, fastymoving quest that feels like a good mix of adventure and humor.

Article:
A high school student looking for friendship and trying to find it in fame, you've received an invitation to join no less than the most popular clique in school, the All-Aces! However, they have an... odd initiation ritual, called 'The Persona Game'.
And why did they choose you, of all people?

I'd like to recommend this quest. It's got a fast update schedule and tight mechanics, creative Persona ideas and a vibrant cast of characters. The central theme is what horrible things high schoolers can do to each other, so there's a lot of bullying, harrassment, prejudice, and douchebaggery, which the protagonist gets through with the help of a few loyal friends and admirable amounts of sarcasm.

Fate/Mythologie Original - Novel - Modern

Years after Snowfield, the Holy Grail War returns to the United States. Seven Masters prepare to wage a secret proxy war with their Servants in suburbia. On the eve of the war, the death of a prominent bishop shifts the Holy Church’s internal balance of power, throwing families, alliances, and...

I'd like to nominate Fate Mythologie by @Stir for SV Pick of the Month. Despite the title and the tags, the label "original" and "novel" is used for a good reason, and I think that the daunting first impression of a two dozen chapters on the first page shouldn't get in the way of the recognition this story deserves.

You can tell that this person's writing is on the professional level, with their ability to interweave philosophy and social commentary so seemlessly within not only inner monologues but Magecraft style as well, reminding me of well-crafted Paradigms reminiscent of good MtA games that when delivered in first person really made the characters of this story come to life in that inhuman-Nasu-ish way. Their fight-scenes are not only kickass but creative as well, displaying the Nasuverse from an eeriely familiar yet completely different perspective.

The humor is low-key and subtle, adding to the "quaint Californians town" vibe of the setting. You can tell the author did their research, from the little things like local landmarks making its way into the vocabularies of the townspeople to how the cuisine is described to the established geography being used for Thaumaturgical rituals.

I could gush on and on, but I'm not writing a review here. The story can do a better job than I ever could displaying its wonders, and more people deserves to experience what Stir has accomplished.

On the Town Hall the other day, it was suggested I put my own stuff here. I really want more eyes, and I put a ton of effort into my work, but I'm still learning. I post on a very consistent schedule, because Quest writing is both my passion, but also my Art/Writing practice. I try to read, I do workshops, I am constantly looking out for new ways to improve, and I think that shows over the entirety of my works, at least I hope so. I have two things, one is something I have not seen on SV, but I don't doubt it's been done, and done better, and the other is just my passion project.

I'd also love comments, crits, reviews. I can be real with you I have very thick skin, and I keep a journal of constructive comments from the internet, so putting anything in it to internalize is a big help.

That being said, here are my two projects.

Escape From Lab 619 by Boba Pearl

Lab 619 is a story about trauma, transformation, and how our trials change us. This is told through the lense of a small flesh creature trapped in a tug of war between two entities. It starts having no control over it's life, and being tortured, to slowly being able to control the things around it, to being able to actively rebel against the forces that keeps it captured. I don't know how subtle it is, but it's very important to me. I did a musical animatic in there, almost every update has a small animation, or a full on art piece.

Marie & The Adventurer's League by Boba Pearl

Marie at it's core is about struggling with economic inequality, and how this would look in a fantasy world that is in someways, post scarcity. The setting is... it's hard to describe this, so you know how fallout is post apocalyptic futurism based on the 1950s? This is urban fantasy based on the 1940s, with some caveats of different kinds. There's a lot of fantasy stuff, humans are extinct, and everyone is some flavor of tolkien-esque equivalent or made up race I invent (most of them I try to keep recognizable to some analogue.) Marie is cursed, she is really strong, and she has a low sense of morals and empathy. You see her trying to muddle her way through life after losing her mentor. Think a Wolf and Her Cub kind of thing. We have cars, boats, and planes, but we don't have guns, not that people need them because magic is real and very deadly. There's also a "Magic is like programming" element, with spells being called Scripts. A lot of that is getting more explained in the next update, because it's hard to put all of that in 20 pages when you just want to draw a buff woman slicing people's heads off.

[Webcomic] Marie & The Adventurer's League Original - Mature - Fantasy

I'm still getting a hand about how people are like here, but the community seems super supportive. If this isn't ok though, tell me and I'll take it down. Thanks for your time!

Ten of Swords Original

A game about finishing things.

Ten of Swords is a very simple and evocative quest about an old monster of the conceptual sword Ten attempting to live a quiet retirement. It's very short, updates frequently, and the author is very active in answering questions about the broader world - even as Ten himself wants nothing more than a retirement for him to live.

Or...

Since I began writing it last year, Freedom Fighter Quest has been a quirky strategy game in which the players control a Lagoon the Tanuki, a greedy smuggler girl trying to stake her claim in the Yurashia warlord states that were once known as the Dragon Kingdom. This game takes place in the world of Sonic the Hedgehog, in the sense that the rough events of the Sonic games are happening on the other side of the globe and you have more important things to worry about next door. Like ninja cats, gator pirates, angry birds, and a whole lot of carpentry! The Death Egg just blew up and dropped some tasty piles of loot, so why not take a slice for yourself?

At it's core, I think the strongest things FFQ has going for it are quirky characters, an oddball sense of humor, and a simpler set of rules/choices than your standard CKII-style game that mean more people can get involved in plans. If you've watched Kung Fu Panda, you should easily be able to get on board with this funny animal version of Asia with the occasional injection of sci-fi when the robots and airships come out to play. Sonic and questing might seem like a strange combo, but feel free to give my quest a go!

Since it's alright to post our own quests, and mine seems to be becoming decently popular...

Prince Aladdin Quest (Disney Villains *Almost* Victorious) Crossover - Fantasy

Welcome to Prince Aladdin Quest! Aka, Aladdin's Wish never got undone, as Jafar was merely a sorcerer when he "changed Aladdin back". NOT a Genie. Meaning, Aladdin's got money, he's got power, he's got 53 Purple Peacocks, to say the least. Aladdin is, of course, the MC. He’s got a genuinely...

I started the quest three and a half months ago. A CKII style game partially inspired by Doofquest; the core conceit of the quest is that Aladdin's wish was granted to the absolute extent that an all-powerful genie could do so; rather than just creating an entourage and a parade to make himself look good, there's an entire country pulled together by Genie's magic; and then populated by people that were at the end of their rope and then offered a second chance. And though as in the movie, Jafar blasts Aladdin... all that did was remove the knowledge of being a Prince from him, along with returning his clothing to its prior state. Even the "Most Powerful Sorcerer in the World" doesn't have the magical might to undo a fully empowered Genie's wish. The quest follows Aladdin as he attempts to rule Ababwa during a time of great upheaval, the world has literally been reshaped by the actions of an ancient and powerful Evil that even genies fear. Places from disparate eras and even epochs, are now slammed alongside one another. So Aladdin must navigate through a world in which the Disney Villains were Almost Victorious.

The quest's main strengths in my opinion are the characterization and interaction of the different Disney IPs in unexpected ways. The expansion and deepening of the motivations of certain characters. Actions may intersect and interact with things happening out in the wider world in unexpected ways. People that you would expect to be bitter enemies may show a side to them that was never seen in their movies or cartoons. And of course, it allows the plays to interact with their favorite Classic Disney settings and have an impact on them.

I second the Aladdin quest nomination. It's well-written, engaging, and dynamic, with a devoted fanbase who have done a lot to help expand the world, premise, and characters.

VII Queens by @Dahne

This quest features the magical girl woman, Nys, the Queen of Light, and her friends as they try to rediscover their distant past.
What is up with all those Voids? Why does that cute doll seem to hate Nys? And why do people keep calling this world a farce?

The combat is interesting. And this is one of those quests where there is a lot to unravel for the players.
If it was only writing this would already have been a decent quest. But the fact that the art on the character pages is original art lifts this quest to the next level.

VII Queens Original

A false world exists as a prison for seven queens. How was it created? Who created it? And why are they there?

Deedeequest or The Wonders of Mundus: Be Careful Who You Pretend To Be - A Genderous Isekai Quest Original - Mature

Previously titled Isekai/Online. In which our heroine finds themselves in the world of the VRMMO The Wonders of Mundus: Mundane Phantasy Historia, to her confusion, and must rediscover who she pretends to be! A queer cyberpunk MMO isekai story.

Started last month and with the first of eight planned volumes complete, Another World Online: Be Careful Who You Pretend To Be is a Quest about someone who wakes up as their avatar in a VRMMO game - nerfed to level 1, and with half the Guild (and who knows how many more other players) along for the ride. In the course of surviving waking up in the adventure rich environment of the Shores of Awakening, our protagonist - the pilot of Deedee Yeowoo, Foxgirl Cleric - starts to realize that at least part of the reason why she's more comfortable in this skin than her own IRL is a long overdue transgender awakening...

Inspired by the likes of Log Horizon, .hack//SIGN and my own time with Final Fantasy 14, this Quest explores how we construct overlapping identities in virtual spaces, the existential questions brought up by the idea of getting yote into a gameworld, and the cyberpunk applications of the tech in stories like Sword Art Online - all in a quest about how much being a buff as hell foxgirl who can jump like an anime character and deliver Rider Kicks to a dragon's cranium rules, actually, if only you can work up the courage to smooch at least one of your guildmates.

I've gotten praised on the chemistry of the characters, the depth of the worldbuilding, and the existential and moral questions a virtual world of this scope raises, and I'm looking forward to writing Part 2 and more of this quest going forward.

We Are Each Our Own Devil (Youjo Senki/Saga of Tanya the Evil)

After the Great War ends, Tanya Degurechaff sets out to create the peaceful, stable life she always dreamed about. She can't chance another world war ruining it. All she needs to prevent that is to convince an ally on the General Staff to see things her way. Luckily, that shouldn’t be difficult...
After the disastrous First World War, Tanya ends up working for Lerghen. Somehow this ends up becoming love. How? 270,000+ words of build up and characterization, so far. This is an amazing character study that hones in on the misunderstandings inherent in the source material to tell a story that literally no one believed was plausible.

Since we're allowed to submit our own works— and my quest could absolutely benefit from some more user participation— I'd like to nominate:

Catalyst Quest by @Alaric

The year is 606, and in your home— the country of Corcaea— the souls of mankind belong to demons. It is your mission to find a cure for the phenomenon that can turn men into monsters: the Catalyst. You play as Father Richard Anscham, leader of the Church of Mercy. As the lord of compassion, it is not only your hope to save the lives of your nation, and to bring humanity back from the brink of extinction. You're known to most people as a demon of faith, and pray that you can also save yourself.

The Gods are real, in the land of Corcaea. As a man with the unusual ability to channel the might of the entire pantheon through his own body, you wield unrivaled power. With that power comes enemies untold, false friends, and decisions that really matter. Consequences for your actions can impact your functioning for months or years. The wrong move in a fight can get countless innocents killed. Showing a demon empathy and love can save their very soul.

Be it your personal image, the livelihood of your city, or the souls of others, it ultimately is up to you to decide what you're willing to sacrifice. Not only do I incorporate almost all votes that are feasible to combine, but I hear out all discussion as well.

After all, Catalyst Quest is designed to conquer your personal demons.

This original quest takes place in a setting I have lovingly grown over the last two years. In this narrative quest, you do not explore the theocracy of Corcaea alone. In addition to a pantheon you are intimately familiar with, there is a colossal roster of over 120 named background characters that bolsters your character-driven journey; who you can befriend, betray, love, and kill as you see fit. Action, adventure, romance, horror, and suspense all accompanies hundreds of original character portraits and background images, 1.7 million words, and updates every single day. In addition to the beefy assets and media that accompanies the quest itself, I also have over a dozen threadmarks jam-packed with up to date information on everything from the settings locations, to the pantheon, to the demons you've saved (and slain), and to your very substantial character sheet.

Running Catalyst Quest is my passion. I strive to make every single update accessible to new readers. Importing the archive of 1.6 million words by hand was a herculean endeavor, but I must stress that it is not necessary to read it in order to follow current events! In addition to illustrated timelines I've made for every story arc this far, I made a soft relaunch with the start of arc 8 (which is where our thread here on SV begins)! As they appear, every character and location has been reintroduced organically (often with new art and maps!), and I aim to continue to help people come into this story as easily as they can.

We could truly benefit from more participation, as some updates only get a couple of votes, and our reader count is far lower than most quests on the site. Catalyst Quest is a mature story with some incredibly dark and bizarre moments, but I hope some of you enjoy checking out my quest. Thank you for your consideration!
