Superhero-but-Not Quest

[X] Azmuth's crashed ship. Complete and utter privacy. However, Reed Richards gets a good long look at your inventions right off the bat. The other members of the Fantastic Four will feel quite awkward while you talk science with the scientists.

[X] The Baxter Building. The home of the Fantastic Four. You will get a good look at their technology, and the mystery of the unstable molecules. Immediate improved relations with the Fantastic Four. 5% chance of being spied on by an evil organization. 30% chance of being spied upon by some digital creation of Tony Stark

Let's do our best to be friends with the Fantastic Four.

Five Points
[X] The Baxter Building. The home of the Fantastic Four. You will get a good look at their technology, and the mystery of the unstable molecules. Immediate improved relations with the Fantastic Four. 5% chance of being spied on by an evil organization. 30% chance of being spied upon by some digital creation of Tony Stark.

AN: Okay. Let's roll. 90. You guys are very safe from evil people. 75. Looks like Tony's in the dark, too.

Azmuth decided to move their location to his hosts' base. He was interested to see Earth's technology. After all, unstable molecules were supposed to be an impossibility here.

"I would be honored to make use of your hospitality, Fantastic Four," he said graciously.

"Wonderful," Richards said. "I can call in a favor to get your ship taken to our building."

Azmuth saw no problem with that. After all, his inventions were effectively swamped with security measures, especially the Omnitrix and Ascalon. "Lead the way, Reed Richards."

Soon enough, the five sophonts sat in the Baxter Building's living area, and Azmuth spoke

"I think it is time we spoke, face to face." With that, Azmuth exited the Mechamorph Armor.

Johnny Storm looked shocked at Azmuth's diminutive size. "Woah, dude. You're tiny."

Azmuth shot him a sharp look. "Yes, I'm a Galvan. So what? It only means my body is exceptionally frail by humanoid standards. Why did you think I was wearing the Mechamorph Armor?"

"Armor?" Richards had entered science mode again. He took a closer look at the deactivated suit. Then he looked closer. "Oh my God."

"What is it, Reed?" Susan Storm looked concerned.

"Sue, look at this nanotechnology! It's amazing! Do you have the blueprints for it?" He directed that last question to Azmuth, who nodded. Richards had already seen the armor, after all. But what about his other inventions? What else should Azmuth show Richards?

[ ] Only show Richards the Helix. He will ask about the Galvanic Mechamorphs anyway, after he is done inspecting the armor.
[ ] Show Richards both the Helix and the Omnitrix. You will need help rebuilding your race, but the plans for Ascalon must remain secret. At any cost.
[ ] Show him everything you have.

AN: Just to be clear, the victory condition isn't beating up Doctor Doom or banishing Galactus. It's re-establishing the Galvan race on a suitable planet. Sorry if that seems a little tame, but you guys picked the scientist.

Never show all your cards at once. Even if Azmuth doesn't have an opinion of Richards yet, either good or bad, espionage isn't unknown among scientists of earth. It stands to reason that it would also be known to other races.

Yep, let's show Reed both devices that can literally create life, no way that'll get weird~

Nothing Sinister Going on Here
[X] Only show Richards the Helix. He will ask about the Galvanic Mechamorphs anyway, after he is done inspecting the armor.

AN: I'm a little excited to talk about the Mechamorphs. They are complete bull, frankly.

After telling his tale, which sobered Richards up a bit, Azmuth decided to show Richards and his team the Helix.

"All of you who find yourselves unable to keep up with Richards," Azmuth barked. "You go back to doing whatever it is that you were doing."

Johnny let out a surprised laugh and clapped Ben on the back. "Well alright, Ben. Guess we're out of our depth with all this sciencey stuff. Let's go have lunch."

Ben let out a huff. "Of course you'd think of your spicy salsa at a time like this, Matchstick."

The two of them left the room, bickering good-naturedly. Susan, on the other hand, remained with Richards.

"Very well," Azmuth said. "Let me show you my Vault."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What is that?" The three intellectuals were in the Vault, and Richards pointed at the protective sphere that housed the Omnitrix.

Azmuth scoffed. "A secret, for now. I'd like to say I trust you with it, but I don't. Not yet. Give it time, and you just might find out. But right now, that one remains in the sphere."

Richards looked indignant for a moment, before Susan placed a hand on his shoulder.

Susan spoke up. "If you're not showing us that, what are you showing us?"

Azmuth stopped beside the Helix. "This."

The Helix was black and green, keeping with the general colors of Galvan technology, and pyramid in shape. It was taller than Richards at its point.

"You marveled at my armor. But that was merely a pale imitation compared to what this can do. I call it the Helix. I originally invented it as a terraforming device, meant to render my planet's moon, Galvan B, habitable. And it did that, make no mistake. But it also did so much more. The Helix created an entire race of biotechnological life-forms, the Galvanic Mechamorphs. They are what my armor is based on. They were not what I intended, but I and my people welcomed them with open arms. Their makeup was simply astounding, to say nothing of their abilities. They could become one with any technology, taking command of it and enhancing it. They were amazing. Even our black sheep...."

For a moment, there was silence.

When Azmuth continued, his voice was nearly inaudible. "They were killed along with my people. With this," he tapped the side of the Helix. "They can live again."

That brought Richards up short. "Wait, you're talking about an entire race of techno-organic beings being reborn on our planet? We'd certainly need someone's permission for that."

Azmuth tapped his foot against the floor. "Whose?"

Richards began pacing, his legs stretching absentmindedly as he did so. "We'd almost certainly need to talk to the Avengers. They're a government-sponsored team, so they can get this idea into the appropriate channels. But the government will definitely want someone to look at the Helix first, to ensure that it isn't dangerous."

"Tell me about these Avengers," Azmuth said.

Susan took the question. "They have three scientists who could possibly decipher this technology, like Reed did with your suit. Bruce Banner, Hank Pym, and Tony Stark."

Azmuth grunted. "Tell me about them."

Which Avenger scientist should you approach for help in getting government contacts?

[ ] Bruce Banner, AKA the Hulk. But DON'T call him that, Susan insists. While biotechnological life is slightly outside his specialty, he is certainly the most amicable of the bunch. He will likely help you all that he can. However, he doesn't trust the government very much, and they don't trust him, so any contacts he makes will likely be shaky. (60% chance to establish government contacts. 80% chance of making a genuine friend.)

[ ] Henry "Hank" Pym, AKA Ant-Man. He is an expert in isolating extra-dimensional anomalies, such as the particles named after him. The technology that lets him communicate with insect species, however, is very interesting. Could be worth looking at. Still, from what Susan says, this man is all business. (70% chance to establish government contacts. 20% chance to talk science with Hank Pym.)

[ ] Anthony "Tony" Stark, AKA Iron Man. A more ridiculous name you have never heard. And, if Susan is to be believed, this man can occasionally-no, often-be extremely idiosyncratic. Still, the man is a specialist in technology similar to the Galvanic Mechamorphs, and he has a friend in the government's military, one James Rhodes. And his power armor is quite the clever concept, at least Level Four technology, maybe even Level Five. Definitely an object of interest. (90% chance to establish government contacts, largely thanks to Rhodes. 20% chance to talk tech with Tony Stark.)

AN: Guys, this choice is largely which scientist you want to make a connection with. It's just their comic book stories that give them the percentages. Of course, I still have to roll them.

Let's befriend the rage monster, we can probably poke at Hank and Tony later. What we need is a bro, and man does Bruce need one too.

Does the Hulk count as a separate species that the Omni matrix can scan?

We're alone on a potentially hostile world. Every chance to get a genuine friend we should jump at.

AN: I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting this turnout. I guess Bruce is more popular than I thought.

Azmuth's first impression of Bruce Banner was that he was an unassuming man. He slouched and wore clothes that seemed designed to conceal his form. Then Azmuth noticed his eyes. Banner's gaze flitted restlessly from place to place, as if he were calculating escape plans, even in the Baxter Building. Still, he appeared to steel himself and stood before the table that Azmuth stood on so he could speak with the humans face-to-face.

"Doctor Azmuth, correct?" He asked. "My name is Doctor Bruce Banner." He held out his hand to shake. Azmuth took a finger and shook it.

"First Thinker, if you must. My people didn't really have an equivalent title to 'doctor.' By human standards, even the most simple of us were brilliant scientists." Banner blinked, then let our a small chuckle. "Titles were largely purposeless. Only the exceptionally brilliant used them."

Banner's gaze sharpened in interest. "Like you?"

Azmuth sighed sadly. "Like me. Our society was a technocracy. The most accomplished scientists were also given the responsibility of leadership. We respected intellect above all else. I took that to the extreme. It ended with the destruction of my world."

Both scientists looked down at the floor for a moment. Then, Banner seemed to regain his energy.

"You wanted me here to make sure your technology is safe for humans, right? I can do that easily enough."

"Good," said Azmuth. "Let me show you what I had in mind."

Sure enough, Banner was soon closely examining the Helix. He seemed starstruck, just like Richards had been.

"I can see why your people called you First Thinker. This nano-circuitry is astounding! As far as I can tell, its energy emissions are harmless to humans, but I can't tell what the device is meant to do."

"I originally designed it to terraform my planet's moon, Galvan B. It did that, but it also created a sentient race of biotechnological life-forms, the Galvanic Mechamorphs." Azmuth went on the explain the attributes and abilities of the Mechamorphs.

Banner needed to sit down for a moment to compose himself. Then he spoke, his voice wavering slightly. "You truly are a genius among geniuses, aren't you? Everything Tony, Reed, Hank and I ever came up with... you thought of it years ago. Your intellect is as far beyond ours are ours is beyond orangutans."

Azmuth shook his head. "I wouldn't say that. Every sentient race has a unique and worthwhile approach to science and discovery. After all, your colleague Reed Richards? Those unstable molecules of his? The technology required to synthesize them is supposed to be at least a thousand years beyond your species. I thought your planet was a backwater world with Level 2 technology. However, those unstable molecules are definitely Level 3. Your teammate Stark's power armor is at least Level 4, and those ARC reactors he has... If refined a bit, they could be a perfect self-sustaining energy source. Your people are not behind by any means. I'm just ahead of the curve."

That seemed to put a stop to Banner's identity crisis. He locked eyes with Azmuth, who smiled at the less experienced scientist.

Roll... 78! Bruce Banner now regards you as a Tentative Friend/Teacher Figure.

Banner offered a smile back and stood up. He looked back at the Helix. "Reed said you wanted to bring back the... Galvanic Mechamorphs?" Azmuth nodded. "You'd need someone to talk with the government." Bruce stood there for a moment, deep in thought.

Roll... 42. Bruce will try, but he isn't confident.

"...I could do it, but I'm not exactly their favorite person. Ever. I'll see what I can do. You might be better talking to Tony if it doesn't go well."

Azmuth nodded. "Sometimes, your best is all you can do."

Should Azmuth ask about the Hulk business?

[ ] Yes

[ ] No
