I stared at the empty space that used to be my locker. There was just used pads, insects that I shuddered at the sight of, and lighter colored paint that had not been exposed to dust for years. And over my sight, I had a complex bright blue interface.
I couldn't deny it. I had deleted my locker.
My first impulse was to run away, but the sight and smell of the mess that I had been trapped in left me staring. Thinking. What else could I do?
I jumped when a text message from a question mark bubble at the top right of my interface popped up. It said, 'Welcome to Sims Life! The latest version of simulated life! Where you can micro and macro manage the lives of your citizens! Mayor Hebert, you can collect items into your inventory with an easy swipe of your hand!'
Hypnotized, I swiped the disgusting mess and put it in my inventory which was at the bottom of my interface.
'Great! Now you can either delete it as trash or keep it in your inventory! We don't judge!' I frowned. That was very ... pointed.
Still I kept it. It was evidence of my torture at the hands of my bullies. Still, what was I going to do about the locker?
'Looking for new furniture for your school? Look at the shop icon at the bottom left hand corner.' I jumped again and then scolded myself. I had to get used to this. I went to the icon as it said and using the search bar, which was convenient, I replaced the locker I had deleted.
What now? I started shivering suddenly and shaking. Maybe just going home would be good.
Thug 1: What did you say to me!?
T: ... Meticulating splimes ... Thug 2: I... I don't know what that means!
-the ground starts rumbling, and rising-
Thug 1: Run!

*Leviathan appears in Brockton Bay!*
*Taylor notices the city is flooding around her, from water shadow and tidal waves.*
"Hey! Why's my shopping district getting flooded?! Where'd all this water come from?!"
*Bulldozes some houses, lays down LOTS of canals.*
"Problem solved!"
With no fuss, I had gotten home and laid down on the couch, feeling tired. I fell asleep and woke up two hours later feeling slightly better. Seeing as my dad hadn't come home yet. I decided to take a look at my strange power. There were a lot of options, that helpfully explained themselves when I hovered my hand over them. Trying to think of this as a computer interface and my hand was a mouse, I looked around and was shocked at how little money my household had. Eventually I tried out an option called 'Create a Sim'. I leaned back in shock as a projection of a man appeared in front of me, with new interface options around him. He waved at me happily.
"Holy shit," I said, as a slow reluctant realization crept over me. I toggled with a few scales, finding that I could shape him into anything I wanted, even turn his skin blue if I wanted. I felt creeped out by this mode and I quickly just used the randomize button to find someone I found appealing. I stopped on a young athletic man who looked vaguely middle eastern and had striking blue eyes.
... There was a personality traits section?? What?!
Feeling a little too much like god, I hit random twice before getting the amusing combination of Geek and Neat with the ambition of Master Chef. I named him Jake and found that his last name would be Hebert as he would be made in my household. Wanting to get this over with already, I slammed the Create Sim button.
In a puff of smoke of my greatest fear, Jake appeared and smiled radiantly.
"Sul sul!" He gave me a sudden hug that I limblessly took. Then the door opened.

Pffffffft! Taylor, you don't just make a person randomly! You mold them into whatever you want! I wonder, was there a Powers section somewhere in there? That Taylor randomized?

There was a tense silence for a moment as I scrambled for something to say that wasn't 'I just created life dad' and my dad glared at Jake who was still hugging me obliviously.
"Hooba noobie barb?" Jake said, releasing me and giving my dad a little wave.
"What." Dad said. I blinked. What?
"Ashoo fleeloo?" Jake said, uncertainly, looking at him and me. Oh no. He can't speak ... any language. I finally started moving and grabbed my dad.
"That is not a language." Dad declared flatly, as I dragged him away to the kitchen.
"Taylor who is that boy and why is he speaking gibberish?" He asked, frowning. I scratched the back of my head self consciously. I really screwed up didn't I ...
I could hear Jake turn on the TV in the living room.
"Uhm ... " Just tear it off like bandaid Taylor. "I may have gotten powers at school and I came home and I made Jake."
"What." Dad rubbed his face and came up looking upset. "What?! What happened to you?!"
"I ... I was stuck in this dad." I dropped the disgusting mess out of my inventory in front of him. He stepped back in disgust and made a retching sound in his throat as he covered his mouth.
"Oh my god."
"I was trapped in my locker with this." I said quietly before swiping it back into my inventory. Dad splashed water on his face and cleaned himself off with the washcloth, but still looked a little sick.
"Who did that to you?" He demanded, looking furious.
"I ..."

I was sitting on the couch with Jake who was watching TV rapturously. Dad was on the phone with Principal Blackwell, but from the sounds of the yelling, it was going badly. I started going through my interface again from despair and boredom, finding the cooking channel not as enjoyable as Jake, and suddenly found myself in the sky what the hell-
I was back in my body thankfully, but pressed the 'Sky View' button again slowly. I was back in the sky, holy shit, viewing Brockton Bay from above. I looked at the funds bar and realized it was for Brockton Bay instead of my household, and blinked at the low amount in it. That was depressingly low for a city. How could ... I looked down at the drab grey ugly city and sighed. It's Brockton Bay. That's why. My eyes drifted to the Boat Graveyard and an idea struck me. What if ...
I selected all of the Boat Graveyard and sold it, for 1 billion dollars?!!
I coughed in shock. Holy shit, Brockton Bay shouldn't have any money problems any time soon. I think. Cities needed a lot more money than people. Still, the beach looked so nice now. It was amazing how much space there was. Dad's gonna be so happy, in fact, I should tell him actually. I pressed the household button and snapped back to my body. Dad had an hand outstretched to me, with a strange look on his face.
"Taylor, you okay?" He asked, concerned. "You looked a little spacey there."
"Dad I sold the Boat Graveyard!" I blurted out, in excitement.
"What."
Then Jake turned the TV off and headed to the kitchen, turning the stove on.
