Well, how sure is he that Willow lets him go if he waits much longer? As it is I assume Oz expects to be watched for the rest of his life by CyberWillow, and he probably isn't wrong about that. In successor Oz might end up at a tibetan monastery to get away from prying eyes rather than to control his wolf form.It isn't as if there was anything preventing Oz from waiting for a good time to give a more appropriate goodbye or even doing it immediately since everyone was all gathered in one place.

Is it me or does Oz's plan of simply leaving town without providing any information to his (former) friends and girlfriend seem to depict him as a self-centered asshole? I can understand someone deciding to break of a relationship based on the poor moral decisions of their partner but simply vanishing without any attempt to explain things or provide context seems incredibly inconsiderate. Just a single short note can't possible be sufficient to explain a trusted friend and lover suddenly deciding to end their relationships and outright flee the community. It isn't as if there was anything preventing Oz from waiting for a good time to give a more appropriate goodbye or even doing it immediately since everyone was all gathered in one place.
We look for very different things in romantic partners....Yeah, I don't really blame Oz. If I was dating Willow, I'd make a run for it too 😅
Sounds like fun. A lot of fun.[jk] Anybody wanna go commit war crimes against a parliament of owls? Maybe some wanton carnage could get some negative energy out of her system
I'm sure that would be an express elevator to S6 Big Bad Willow and also, y'know, be a Bad Thing to do. Plus I think either 'extreme' (Token Effort, or Drown Your Sorrows) is likely to have bad consequences for Wil, temporarily or not.
On top of all of this I think the idea of leaving Sunnydale is pretty baffling/kind of offensive to her. Willow is going to sit on this town fighting alongside Buffy, or even in her stead when Buffy is gone, up until Buffy is dead. At that point she is going to go down in flames trying to get revenge or hold it in Buffy's memory. There is no chance that Willow just straight up leaves outside of something extreme like needing magical and mental help after going crazy and evil. Someone she trusted and was in love with just packing up and bailing on the fight just makes no sense."You are beyond my help" is a pretty harsh thing to hear from your significant other, when they choose to leave town rather than be with you. Willow will lash out in some way because she doesn't really know how to handle rejection from her closest circle, and we need to be with her when that happens.
Wesley is completely unaccounted for as far as you know. Kate Lockley is probably involved somehow, though you don't have that much actual evidence on that front. Nate (sorcerer clan Nate) is hanging around down in LA at loose ends too.
I will however claim there is one period, location, and genre appropriate crossover character who recently joined Angel's team, and nobody will ever guess who she is.
If we didn't have most potential slayers locked down through the watcher's council I do think we would have a plucky young hero showing up to overthrow us some time after Faith dies. Morally we probably would have been a lot better off if we had picked anything else for Willow's specialty, she just gives so many amazingly useful slippery slope options.I mean, no judgement, I've been down to play villains before for similar reasons, but I'm not sure it's up my alley this time in particular. Still, I'll see how the current arc turns out, at least.

So I just got caught up, and... wow. The voting base is really enjoying jumping off the slippery slope, hugging their knees with one hand while paddling faster with the other, shrieking "wheeee!" all the way down, huh?

Period, location and genre, not cast or crew. So, 'urban supernatural drama set in mid-90's LA or thereabouts', not necessarily Whedon or connected to the actors - and, in all likelihood, a connection to Whedon or the actors makes a guess less likely to be on the money, given DeAnno thinks nobody will ever get it.
I mean, Oz literally last update skipped town because he feels Buffy, her regime, and Willow specifically have crossed a moral event horizon with how gung-ho they are about invasion of privacy, and that's not the sum total of the grimy compromises so much as just the topic of the moment, so like - you might feel comfortable with Buffy's moral standing relative to others, but let's not be coy about where her regime stands in absolute terms, the direction it's going in, or why some people might not be enthusiastic about either.I'm kinda curious what's so beyond the pale though? I feel like Buffy is pretty firmly the setting hero here. All her current adversaries are either unambiguously villains or (in the case of the Initiative maybe) edgier and more morally grey than Buffy? There are some other good guys that don't want to be party to what Buffy's doing, but nobody actually working against her for that reason.
I think the real problem is that Adam is so patient/passive. Sure Maggie keeps doing things and being annoying but ultimately noone is scared of Maggie. Every shot we take at her or her organization is ultimately about degrading Adam eventually, but in the mean time we are slapping around a bunch of rubes that don't understand magic and are beat out on tech by a local businessman.
To be a bit fair on this front Oz did bail before we decided to be as narrow as possible with our new privacy invasion machine. Finding that out probably wouldn't be enough for him, but for people that aren't quite sure if they could deal with this spell being used they might decide they are ok with the narrow use version.Oz literally just skipped town completely because he feels we've crossed a moral event horizon with how gung-ho we are about invasion of privac
