Starfinder (Worm/Starfinder RPG)

Well, I imagine that one day John will wake up only to find that he has been married to Emma for two years and with two children.
Nah, it is highly unlikely that it would ever result in that sort of thing. More of a...protective friend or something along that line.

But John is essentially just playing as the cheap discount $10.00 paid therapist and part-time motivational speaker for Emma. It should also be noted that he doesn't actually know how to be a therapist, so those precious non-existent dollars are wasted on his dense ass. :V

He also sometimes acts as a counselor for foolish teenagers, but he's also not really good at that too. Darn those kids!

That awful moment you realize it's 1am and there are no more chapters to binge read.

To sum up my experience this story is great and I know what to play this ttrpg.

So Skidmark hear new drug on the city and decide to go for it, or is this retalition for stoping the recruit? Can be a front to either Coil or more likely E88 traying shit with the Merchants to take the fall

There is always the possibility that it isn't a planned endeavour on the part of the merchants, that they are just enjoying a drug-fuelled joyride that serendipitously resulted in them colliding with the transport of Brockton's newest tinker… cocaine is one hell of a drug, ya know?

Oh wow, he just meets the requirement for a Police Cruiser. Very compact land and air vehicle, occupancy for three including pilot, includes a weapon that is magically only going to disable a vehicle it targets and not hurt the occupants by itself.

Sounds absolutely perfect. And a good project to have with Armsmaster, too.
Ya my thoughts exactly when I was looking through the options. Plus it's fast.

There are some vehicles that are designed to work on the surface of a star.

Did… did I just get played?

I tried super hard not to feel like I had just made a deal with the devil, as I pointedly raised a hand to take the offered dumpling in two fingers and popped it into my mouth, much to her displeasure.

Something told me this wasn't over.
Oh I don't know John, could be that the girl who just got saved by a fit dude, who is a superhero, around her age, and said she was important, and went out of his way to tell her that might in fact find him attractive.

Good luck buddy.

"Still it- do you hear that?" The trooper asked suddenly, setting everyone in the van on edge, including myself.

Listen, there are very few situations where 'do you hear that' doesn't result in a jump scare of some kind.

Thankfully, upon listening closely, this didn't seem like one of those situations. What the trooper was referring to was clearly the absolutely horrendous excuse for music that some nearby driver was clearly blaring so loudly that we could hear it through the walls of the troop transport.

Music that was growing painfully loud actually.

I had just enough presence of mind to think 'wow that sounds like some serious Merchant music' before something slammed into the side of the van, and we were all sent sprawling.

Oh look. The first Coil Interrupt. Or... maybe just a really high Skidmark...

God damn it, Skidmark.

Yeah. Well... thank goodness he has lightning cannons that completely ignore his fields.

'Healing drugs' and immediate merchant response should have been expected, yeah... ugh. Whelp! Fun times ahead! Maybe he can capture Squealer and they can reform her...

I meant the product is the target, not the tinker. Why kidnap a tinker when you know they make weekly or monthly runs to a hospital with the exact thing you want?

Kidnap a tinker to make healing potions, and what you get is something that looks like healing potions, and you hope is healing potions, but... you don't know.
Steal a delivery of healing potions, and what you get is healing potions.
(Edited the previous post for clarification)
Works for the first few times, and then you get "the hospital knows that some of the delivery is healing potions and the others are at best nothing and at worst something a lot worse, with the pattern provided to the hospital after the hospital confirms the package arrived"

You know. He could make one of this "dogs" for Emma (maybe even Taylor). For him, this will make that weird teenager fell safe, so she can leave home, talk to friends, don't call him anymore... a very rational deal.
Ofc, Emma would like her new pet that her "friend" give after their "scout".

Hmm....now I'm actually wondering what the heck Taylor is currently doing right now. It must be quite stressful for her to be ignored by Emma, especially is she keeps insisting to visit the traumatized girl. Oh well, at least she ain't getting wrecked like she did in canon Worm.
Well, iirc, the attack on Emma was the week before Taylor came back from summer camp. Here John visited her the next day so depending on how much time has passed... she might actually be in the bus going home at the time of the scene?

This is true but doesn't make it impossible.

Suppose that Amy got buds from *both* Marquis and the Dallons, and that which one gives her the powers and which one goes away is decided at the time of her trigger.
Strictly speaking, Amy's canon trigger had two capes she should have pinged off of; one was Vicky.

I don't think it was a week.
Didnt she stay in her room for a while and then tried to find Sophia or something?

I don't think the Merchants were a thing at this time period. This is either Skidmark or Squealer attacking.

So how much cocaine did it take for Skidmark to think this was a good idea?
The probability of the pedo snek spiking his daily dosage of drugs and have someone whisper some encouragement is pretty high too.

... Dare I ask for the sause?

Anyways found TYPO's @Bowlerhat Guy
The idea that I didn't know about everyone Parahuman in the city was so off putting to me that I just had to update my knowledge on the topic.
every
But I did. So I just stared flatley at her until she started to fidget and spoke again.
flatly

Thankfully teleporting armor and equipment is a thing for MC, with the only real threat being whatever Squealer brought to the party.

Don't forget that things haven't been working right even though the 'game mechanics' say they should. His 'non-lethal' weapon didn't kill people, but it sure screwed them up.

She had a new weapon - possibly Tinkertech in origin - that, while apparently non-lethal, had sent a rash of her victims to the hospital suffering from severe shock.

Next level though, he can make a Ring of Sustenance. Now *that* is a project Armsmaster will fully back. 2 hours of sleep per day, with zero food required? Yes please, efficient work processes!

Ok, so just checking Emma's interlude:

Interlude: emma said:
"It's been a week. You can't- you can't be happy like this. We won't be here to bother you, so warm yourself up some food, treat yourself to a nice bath, maybe, watch some television? Get things a step back to normal?"

She stood, abrupt, paced halfway across her bedroom, then stopped. Nowhere to go, nothing to do.
This is from the scene in which she meets Sophia in her civilian identity, a week after the attack.

Emma stood from the kitchen table, aware that her entire family was watching her.

It's all mental.

Three weeks ago, she might never have imagined that she'd be able to resume life as normal, to not be afraid.

Perhaps it was more correct to say that she was afraid, she just wasn't acting it. Faking it until she could make it the truth.

"You're going out?" her sister couldn't quite keep the note of suprise out of her voice.

"Sophia's dropping by," Emma said.

Just want to forget it happened, put it behind me. Move forward.

"Taylor got back from camp this morning," her mother said.

And this is when Taylor returns from summer camp, which is apparently three weeks after the attack (that is one long-ass summer camp).

So if it follows the canon timeline then Taylor is at summer camp but given that the timeframe John was working in to stalk Emma was iirc a month long, it probably doesn't follow canon because reasons.
