Starblazers: Journey Home (Space Battleship Yamato 2199 RP)

Okay, would you prefer me to start this off on Friday or Saturday? And remember, each cycle will be 7 days or sooner if everyone makes their post. If someone doesn't make the cycle without telling us, we'll assume you are dropping out. This is mostly because other RPs I've run have been killed dead by AFK members who kept claiming that they would come back.

So we'll have a week before each. GM post replies to our actions? Yay!

Either is good for me as well.

I'm fine with either--I have an introductory post in mind, if such a thing is necessary.

Same here- I have today off from school so either today or tomorrow is fine.

I'll be making the first introductory post. We're going to get dropped right into the thick of things. I'll link it when it's ready.

Intro posted. Should I change Archerfish's prefix to CNS, for consistency's sake? I just used EDF because that's what was in my reference image.

I for one advocate using the CNS ship prefix, since that's what's in the show, but I can't force anyone. :(

Yeah, I'll admit it's a weird thing to fixate on, but I think EDF is just a transliteration of the terminology used in the older sequels--Japan doesn't historically use ship prefixes. Posting my own intro shortly.

I'm gonna still use HMAS- the Australia isn't an official part of the UNCN. She's the flagship of Australia's national space fleet, on loan to the Cosmo Navy.

Arizona will stay USS, as she was and is an American ship, not truly Cosmo Navy, although she falls under its aegis.

Yeah, that makes--lots of countries don't historically use ship prefixes in their navies, and it would be incorrect to expect them to conjure them up. Neither the Japanese Empire nor the Soviet Union used them (neither did the German Empire right up to the point of its division). It's very logical that they would take on a broader prefix rather than invent their own.

@Synthesis Australia's a command ship? I'm honored.

I'll remind you you have a obligation to tell me if that's not correct--but as it stands, the First Offensive Fleet (if there was ever a tactical grouping not named to last, that was it) has three battleships, and one carrier--is it the carrier? Or is there not any specific command ships? I honestly thought the Australia, as the largest (?) was.

I guess what I'm saying is be prepared for me to redact that compliment. :rofl:

EDIT: Hmmmm...I think 'capital ship' would be more accurate until this is sorted out.

The specific command ship of the fleet is the Tenri Tagh, but the Admiral in charge is very hands off in terms of command style.

Yeah capital ship makes more sense here. The Australia does have fleet command facilities (to an extent) since she was the flagship of Australia's national fleet. And I don't want to be the fleet commander myself- I suck at leadership roles IRL and the last time I was a commander in a RP, it...didn't go so well.

EDIT: I just added some improvements to my ic post FYI
