11. Killing Technology, Part II
You stealthily clamber up a rusted old drainpipe on an adjacent building, maintaining a firm magnetic attraction between your hands and the metal of the pipe with an Electric Charge. The weather-beaten structure creaks slightly under your weight as you dismount onto the roof.
Crouching on the rooftop, you resume your observation of the runaway electronics. The swarm of animated mobile phones and other devices scuttles along the side of a building, only to momentarily freeze in their tracks. The tech bugs shudder and resume their march, their multitudinous spiderlike legs clicking hurriedly beneath their distorted forms. The individuals in the group remain bundled relatively close to one another, never leaving more than ten meters' distance between themselves and the center of the colony.

You continue to follow the bizarre mass of gizmos and gadgetry. This is incredibly unusual, even by the Moonlit World's standards. Although you have heard from Kiritsugu of unorthodox mages who have worked with liquid metal constructs and swarm insects, you certainly cannot recall any mention of those two features having been combined. To make matters more perplexing, this Mystic Code was manipulating electronic devices, of all things. Even the innovators and oddballs of the Magus Association would not dare resort to involving modern technology; such was heresy of the highest order of the mystic community, whose members dedicated themselves to looking back at history to uncover the mysteries of old.

So just why or how the hell would this one break into a store and steal a supply of Ipods?

Your thoughts are broken by the metallic legion skittering into a small abandoned parking lot behind the restaurant atop which you are currently situated. They scale the side of an beaten up red pickup truck and crawl over the tailgate into the bed, which holds a very large and wide metal trunk. A man in a nondescript grey suit and tie combo wearing a fedora emerges from behind another car and pulls a ring of keys from his pocket. He unlocks and opens the trunk, allowing the swarm of bugs to begin crawling inside, his back turned to you.

What do you do now?

It might be a good idea to stop him from getting to his work shop, or to get his car started. However, we should prolly wait until his bugs are locked where he can't get them.
[x] Intervene while he is unaware (wait for the bugs to be locked into the trunk)
-[x] Use [Motion Infuse] to chuck a Steel Ball at the man's hand, knocking away his keys!

We could also try using electric ripples to try and charge the ball magnetically to magnetize the keys away, but I feel like saving that as an ace in the hole - if we get caught by his armies of electronics, we could use it to fry their circuits perhaps?

Getting the bugs in the trunk and out of your way is certainly a sound strategy

but they'll be the least of your problems in a minute

Well, one threat is still better then 1 1/2. We still have to intervene before he gets to his own territory though - any sort of preparations he could have made mean that we're much better off taking him on here and now.

Somebody roll the usual 1d10 for 1337 aiming skills

thanks to the Motion Infuse, you only need a 2 or higher to pass

a 5 or higher perfectly rids him of the keys and mangles his fingers into a deformed spiral

You hold your position and prepare to strike as the man in the suit finishes stowing away the swarm of tech bugs in the trunk and locks it shut. Something seems off about him, but you cannot quite tell from this distance.

Brushing the thought aside, you prepare one of your trusty Steel Balls in your hand and enhance it with a quick Motion Infuse, which causes the ball to spin rapidly in your palm. Your magic circuits thrum with an exciting warmth as you cock back your arm and pitch the ball, letting your unique brand of thaumaturgy do its work.

The use of channeled kinetic energy creates an imperfect spiral of distortions in the local air currents, significantly accelerating the spin and thrust of the ball as the modified currents help guide your projectile toward your intended target. Perhaps a perfect spiral of Golden Rectangles is demonstrated by the swirl of the Root?
The Steel Balls whizzes through the air and strikes the hand in which the man held his keys, knocking them from his grip and sending them sliding under one of the nearby cars. The man has much greater problems to fret over than the keys, as your Steel Ball has morphed his entire left hand into a mutilated spiral of flesh with a multitude of grotesque crackles.

The man flinches, brings his hand to his face for inspection, and slowly lowers himself to his knees, putting both hands behind his back.

He clearly know he is at the mercy of his ambusher, and is trying to surrender before your overwhelming superiority! Best to keep on your toes; if there is anything you've learned from playing (and losing) Risk with Kiritsugu, it's that the battle is lost the moment you feel assured in your victory.

What is your next move? (Write-in)

Oh come on. Shirou is stupid, but not even he is dumb enough to fall for this. He's just waiting for us to reveal where we are so he can sic his Familiars/Stand on us.

We should Shoot a couple Steel Balls at his head until he's unconscious, just to be sure.

Keep in mind we have limited ammunition. Furthermore, depending on how his abilities work, we may not be able to take him a second time. Either way...
