Hooch won't let us set foot on the pitch because 'it's only for the real teams'
Wonder how any new talent gets picked then, though it's par for the course. Quidditch stadium is where you can't play Quidditch, library is where you can't get books, meat section is where you can't buy meat... So, only those training at home need to bother trying out for the team?
thin red rectangle around in her hand. It looked almost like rusty metal
Ordinary iron in that size would have rusted away completely in a thousand years. Some natural alloy?

Bog iron perhaps, marinated in that magical Gaia-juice? The jury's still out on whether there is an enchantment on it after all this time.

Fun fact! Caledfwlch (the sword that would become the basis for the myth of Excalibur) was likely made out of bog iron, given that England has a large amount of bogs and swamps.

I would place odds that the wizards who murdered the druids were Romans, or at least part of the Roman empire. I may be conflating canon and fanon, but I believe wand based magic was popularized by Rome. I could easily see them removing opposing schools of magic since they represent a threat. After all, if the only way to use magic is to learn from a Roman academy and use an easily broken/stolen/confiscated wand, it gives the empire more control.

Hazel is basically only going to charms, potions, herbology and probably astrology (or was it astronomy) right now isn't she?
Astronomy; astrology is covered in Divination class (GoF chapter 13), not in astronomy (ch.35)
I'd be surprised if she had more then 1 class with Hermione right now unless I'm misremembering badly.
Monday: Charms with Slytherin (the only class) (ch.33)
Tuesday: Herbology and Transfiguration with Gryffindor, DADA with ??(probably) (ch.34)
Wednesday: Potions with Ravenclaw; History of Magic, Herbology and Astronomy with ?? (ch.35)
Thursday: Charms with ?? (ch.41), Transfiguration with Gryffindor (ch.40 - 1991.10.31 is a Thursday)
Friday: ??, presumably the only class ("light Mondays and Fridays" - ch.33)

??: Flying with Ravenclaws (ch.42)
So,based on what we know, it seems you're right.
I believe wand based magic was popularized by Rome
Seems so:
none of the readily available history books talked about magic before the Romans went around and spread 'the light of their magic' through the world.

Thinking about it, this might put Snape in a tough spot. He hates Hazel, but what is going to happen when he notices we have the favor of Quirrel, someone that he has suspicions of being a Death-Eater? Is he going to accuse him of "teaching" us this?

There are plenty of 'rust colored' rocks that are available too. Examples: red jasper, some formations of slate, sandstone, hematite, etc.

Hmm. A wizard wearing a purple robe is mentioned, who wears one in canon?
There was a pair in Grimmauld.
An ancient set of purple robes that were dark artefacts that were bewitched to strangle anyone who came into close contact with them.
The Black family had them, and they tried to kill Ron when they were cleaning the house out.

That is an incredibly specific bit of knowledge.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that it happened post-Byzantine Empire Collapse, and pre-Napoleonic Wars.

An funny to look up, the last Celtic Queen, Ter-Na-Nog and King Arthur.
What do they share?
Well, for one, Arthur's father send him to escape, when in that time, males of that age, would join on the walls, this was what you did with the females.
So that casts a entire new light on the King Arthus myth.
Merlin was said to be a druid, right?
What if it's all the same story?
Only for mouth to mouth story telling, to alter it over time?

I sence some major history rewriting and am thus wondering if the Great Fire Of London, might actually have been done to erase documents and so on, like carvings.
So folks where that cruel, back in the day.
What was that one wizarding fire named again?
