------------------------------

You excuse yourself from your friends as you leave the classroom; you have something important to do. You navigate the hallways quickly in search of the faculty room. Once there, you ask for mr. Takahata and learn that he was giving a lesson further away in the building so you make your way there, braving the human tide that comes out of the classrooms now that the day is over.

Eventually, you finally find him as he himself makes his way out.

"Professor!" you call him as you jog for the last few steps that separate you. "Do you have a minute? I must ask you something."

He turns around, looking surprised and adjusts his glasses as a kind smile appears upon his face.

"Of course, miss Tenno. Shall we go to my office?"

You nod and follow him as he advances at a steady pace through the same hallways you passed on your way. He holds the door open for you when you arrive and invites you to sit, making water boil and grabbing two mugs in the meantime. He sits in front of you shortly and puts a cup of tea in front of you.

"So, miss Tenno, what did you want to talk about?" he asks in a smooth voice.

You fiddle with your cup's handle a bit before answering.

"Well, it's… Asuna is angry with me and I want to do something about it," you begin as he nods. "But, uh… There are a few things I need to know to be able to do what I planned, so I thought you'd know."

"I see. It's true that I know Asuna well. So, what do you want to know? I'll tell you unless it's something that isn't mine to say."

You take a sip of your tea before adding a sugar.

"Um… you… would you happen to know where I could find a nearby dragon? It's probably less than a day away if one can fly."

There is a moment of silence where mr. Takahata's smile lies frozen on his face, then he removes his glasses and massages his temples before putting them back.

"I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" he asks, his voice now with a note of confusion in it.

"There should be a dragon around," you repeat. "Supposedly not very far."

"I… see. And what does a dragon have to do with calming Asuna down?"

You take another sip, thinking about your answer.

"Well, she's angry because of that dragon," you answer matter-of-factly. "So obviously, if I kill it, she won't be angry anymore."

He takes a long sip before placing his cup back on the table.

"I see. Could you get into more details about that?" he asks. "I must admit I am somewhat lost as to how you got to that conclusion."

You hesitate for a moment and play with your cup as you think on how to present it. Your master did get angry once you started talking about the dragon after all.

"Well, Negi asked me a few questions and then she got angry because she thought he'd get into danger with what I told him," you answer truthfully while minimizing the involvement of any dragon. "So, if I make it so he can't put himself in danger, she'll have no reason to be angry and everything will be fine, right?"

"I suppose," he says diplomatically. "With what you said, I deduct that young Negi asked you about dragon slaying?"

Damn. So much for subtlety.

"Ah… maybe?" you try to misdirect. He gives you a look from over his glasses for a few seconds before you continue. "Yes. Yes, he wanted to know how I'd kill a dragon."

He lets out a long sigh.

"I should have a talk with him. He risks more than a few wounds if he's not much stronger than I imagine."

"Well, if you tell me where I can find it-" you begin, but he stops you.

"And that is also valid for you, miss Tenno. I seem to remember that the Shinmei-ryu healers told you to rest and avoid strenuous activities," he continues sternly. "Fighting a dragon most certainly counts as a strenuous activity."

You gulp audibly, your eyes looking to the side.

"Please look at me, miss Tenno," he says, his voice still retaining a touch of softness. "We will ensure his safety, so do not neglect your own. Can you give me your word you won't try to hunt this beast?"

Maybe going to him wasn't such a good idea. He is, after all, an actual teacher.

(no dragon hunting actions)
[] [action] The "icecream and Hakase" plan is still an option.
[] [action] Explain things to Asuna. Takahata did say he'd keep the child safe, right?
[] [action] Go wallow in self pity and complain about the injustice of this world where wounded teenage girls aren't supposed to go fight giant fire breathing monsters.
[] [action] Something else (write-in)

(dragon hunting actions)
[] [action] Obviously, you are a misunderstood genius; you'll manage on your own.
[] [action] Obviously, you are a misunderstood genius, but a quick trip to the library might point you in the right direction.
[] [action] Hakase can, and will, definitely help you.
[] [action] Caeli'll understand. She's a Tenno.
[] [action] Maybe Takahata's an isolated case. Go see someone else from the faculty.
[] [action] Takahata can't stop you if you manage to get the Principal on your side.
[] [action] Your master can help you. She always does.
[] [action] Get Negi. It's his fault in the first place!
[] [action] Sayoko will probably help you. Sure, she'll complain, but she always does anyway.
[] [action] You thought of something completely different! You had a sudden stroke of even more genius! (write-in)

I guess we'll finally know the truth about the update pact... I wonder what Mana's going to do.

I want to increase our social links with Asuna!
For too long its Hakase, Hakase, Hakase and loot last.

[X] [answer] Refuse
-[X] Wounded though you may be, you are far superior to either Asuna or the child in combat. If Takahata worries for you so, he could always accompany you, but you will do this regardless.

I don't think there's a need for an action with this :V

[X] [action] You may be angry that you can't take on this mission, but just like when getting used to a new forma this only means you need to train more and get back into shape! Negi and Asuna should too, or they may miss their chance to help during the next mission, better grab them on your way to see your master!

[x] [answer] Refuse
-[x] You won't even get near it! You're really good at blowing things up from far aways anyway! You can totally at least help out killing the dragon! Especially since Dragons Fly, and flying things are usually far away enough that you can blow them up without worrying about collateral!
[x] [action] Your master can help you. She always does.

Ah, ok. Refuse by itself is already pretty much that. The write-in does show how you plan to make your case however.

Well, the case such as it is, is basically "How are you going to stop me? Unless you're going to assault an injured girl who needs to not get into fights, of course."

Nova's not socially adept enough to actually grasp that, mind, so it's just a flat refusal IC.

We could just tell him the truth that Nova's just a remote-controlled meat-puppet war platform powered by the tortured mind of a psychic invalid girl in a forced coma in some shady looking bunker and is thus in no danger what-so-ever.

Also, you know, probably being allowed to go all out would get the old auto-repair ticking again, get that control module in her systems booted up to do its job with all those morphics finally. :V

I'm kidding of course, probably just do what everyone says we should do and take the opportunity to explain our situation to someone.

Nova: "So, as you can see, it's totally alright!"

Takahata: *cries in a corner*

Totally missing the point. I like it.

- [X] Explosions of the level required should not be strenuous. If they were it wouldn't be so hard to find a dragon then right?

[X] [action] Obviously, you are a misunderstood genius, but a quick trip to the library might point you in the right direction.
-[X] The library has a lot of information right? We should look and see what they have on dragons! It's genius!
--[X] Genius or not, it's a big place. Maybe we should ask the Library Exploration Club where to find the section on dragons?
