USS Wake Island

"Kaga, this is HMS Jervis, please state your intentions over."
The carrier starts as she hears her old name being used by the now identified Jervis before old shame rises over the past before she ruthlessly tamps them down and responds.

"HMS Jervis, Kaga is not who I am any longer, I am a proud fleet carrier of the United States, USS Wake Island, my intentions are to continue my duty to protect my country," Wake Island replied after a brief silence.
"Mayday! Mayday! HMS Jervis requires assistance against hostile forces outside of an unknown USN base. Requesting backup! I repeat, requesting backup, over."
Wake Island took note of the call over another channel and sighed before simply monitoring the channel for any responses no need to tip off the fact she could hear them yet.

"I am open to other suggestions. From my colleagues, especially." She turns to glance meaningly at a certain other Romanian submarine currently standing in the office.
Wait, why is she looking at me? I already answered, Albacore heard me, was I not loud enough for Surcouf though?...

"Um, di-didn't you hear when I said what I thought before?" I ask her somewhat shakily.

Montana's eyebrow doesn't go back down. "And how exactly do you know that said shipgirl fleet has the range to escort the convoy the whole way? It seems to me we wouldn't have been told that was a potentially useful mission if that was the case, because our superiors would have seen that no additional shipgirls were required, and thus we would have been picking from the scouting mission or commerce raiding."

She shakes her head. "Eskimo, I get that you're trying to be professional and smart about things, but there's a difference between sounding smart and actually being trained for this sort of thing." She looks Eskimo in the eyes. "Have a little trust that SecNav and his subordinates aren't just going to send us off on a wild goose chase or snipe hunt for no damn good reason, at least."
"I don't think that, it's jus-" Eskimo stopped speaking as a radio message came through.
"Mayday! Mayday! HMS Jervis requires assistance against hostile forces outside of an unknown USN base. Requesting backup! I repeat, requesting backup, over." I broadcasted the second over a channel Kaga (hopefully) wasn't using. I also continued to get the fuck out of the dodge. Just a little bit more....

She hitched her breath. Were the Abyssals attacking again?! Montana beat her to the punch announcing it though.

Montana turns in the direction of the surprise radio messages from out in the harbor. "What in the..." she stares for a moment, before sighing and turning towards the Admiral.

"Sir, it appears we have one, maybe two new shipgirls that have showed up outside Pearl. Requesting permission to go take a look and see if I can get them up to speed in time to participate in the upcoming mission, sir."

@Jhin Lemon
The commander sighed slightly. At least the argument ended before he had to intervene.

"Granted," he replied, before picking up a phone to get in contact with the current radio operator. The usual man had gotten sick, and his replacement was still green and likely confused. He muttered into it for a moment before putting it down.

A message was sent back to both Jervis and Wake Island, "Attention new shipgirls, if your intentions are peaceful, please proceed to the docks. One of our own ships will meet you partway."

Montana nods. "Understood sir."

Montana quickly departs the Commander's office, quickly making her way down to the docks before getting underway.

A message was sent back to both Jervis and Wake Island, "Attention new shipgirls, if your intentions are peaceful, please proceed to the docks. One of our own ships will meet you partway."
Wake Island tilts her head as the message comes in with little reason not to comply at present Wake Island briefly replies.

"Acknowledged and will comply."

With her reply given Wake Island sets off towards the docks at a sedate pace keeping an eye on the still fleeing Jervis.

Well, looks like I messed this up...

"Attention new shipgirls, if your intentions are peaceful, please proceed to the docks. One of our own ships will meet you partway."

Just as I prepare to send my response, I notice Kaga?'s message.

"Acknowledged and will comply."

Sighing, because now that my rational thought has kicked back in, I can see that Not Kaga is most likely telling the truth. After all, the Japanese had no way of aquiring US naval tech without either winning the war, or being allied in the first place, neither which had happend in WWII.
"Jervis copies. Sorry Wake Island, waking up right next to something that I thought could shread my hull wasn't pleasent. Also, will comply."
With that, I slowed to cruising speed, and awaited the Naval Bases' girl...

Wake Island quietly contemplated the destroyers words and actions, that she had fled instead of attacking told Wake all she needed to know, with little fanfare Wake Island replied to the destroyer her tone softer than before.

"It is understandable, no offense was taken and praise must be given to quick risk assessment, I do hope though that we can be good friends."

HMS Jervis, unidentified shipgirl, this is USS Montana, hull number BB-51. Requesting status and ID, over
Wake Island's ears and tails briefly twitched as she brought her attention to the new voice and moments later she responds.

Identification eh?

"HMS Jervis, unidentified shipgirl, this is USS Montana, hull number BB-51. Requesting status and ID, over."
"USS Montana, this is HMS Jervis, Pennant Number G00. I removed the safeties from my boilers, and need to have them checked over when I can, over." I say, slightly embarrassed at the last part.

Montana finally rendezvoused with the two new shipgirls.
"USS Montana, this is fleet carrier USS Wake Island, hull number CV-44, status is all clear,"
"Copy that, Wake Island. Please follow me."
"USS Montana, this is HMS Jervis, Pennant Number G00. I removed the safeties from my boilers, and need to have them checked over when I can, over."
Montana looks over at Jervis with a mild look of surprise. "Acknowledged, Jervis. I'll notify a repair ship. Unfortunately, you arrived at a sub-optimal time, we are currently preparing for a new mission. I'll let the Admiral fill you in when we arrive."

She fires up her radio again. "Pearl Actual, this is Montana. Have successfully made contact with new shipgirls, identified as HMS Jervis, pennant number Golf 00, and USS Wake Island, hull number Charlie Victor 44. Be advised, due to some confusion due to Wake Island's resemblance to the Japanese aircraft carrier Kaga, HMS Jervis briefly disabled the safeties on her boilers. While no observable damage has been sustained, HMS Jervis has requested that their boilers be looked over for any damage that may have been missed. How copy, over?"

"Copy that, Wake Island. Please follow me."
Wake Island nods and follows the battleship increasing her pace slightly as she puts a portion of her focus onto her crew, many of them were calling out statuses and inventories in their own organized chaotic ways as a few officer types seemed to be staring at clipboards and checking things off on them at rapid rates, Wake Island decided to not bother them as she instead took in their hustle and bustle.

"Pearl Actual copies Montana," comes the reply. "A repair crew will be assembled on the docks for your arrival, over."

A short moment later you can see a small group in white uniforms gathering on the docks as you head for them. As you arrive they stare at Wake Island for a moment, before crowding around Jervis and slowly inspecting her rigging, making sure that she's okay with what they're doing as they proceed. Eventually they stop and one turns to Montana.

"No damage has been sustained Miss, she should be fine to meet with the commander," he says matter-of-factly.

She then turns to begin walking towards the Admiral's office.
Wake Island nods at the battleship and follows, still partially entranced with watching her fairies when she feels a tap on one of her fox-like ears drawn out her trance she sees one of her pilot fairies looking at her, silently Wake Island plucks the fairy from her head knocking her peaked cap off-kilter in doing so and watches it struggle briefly before placing it on her shoulder so she could question it later.

It's time to meet the admiral!

"Roger that Montana. Time to face the music I guess...." I say as I sedately walk alongside the battleship.
Wonder what the admiral will be like?
As the three of you step into the commander's office he stands to greet you.

"Welcome back Montana, and hello to you, Jervis, Wake Island," he nods to each girl as he say their names, "I'm afraid the two of you have arrived at a fairly poor time; a mission will be undertaken soon, and so I must ask if you are willing to assist us, or if you would prefer to acquaint yourselves with the base."

He holds a pair of dossiers containing the information he'd previously spoken of up for the girls to take if they wished.

Wake Island briefly salutes the admiral and listens as he speaks a part of her itches to go into action while another part of her dares not tolerate going into something without knowing all she was capable of and of her port of call, to deal with her indecision she looks to the pilot fairy on her shoulder, who promptly shrugs leaving her to agonize on her decision.

Slowly Wake Island makes her decision as she gingerly takes one of the dossiers to examine. After moments of studying the information Wake Island spoke up her voice soft yet firm, "I would like to help in the coming mission."

Jervis flips through the dossiers and asks a question.
"Sir, have you decided what Mission is the one we'll be performing? I don't wish to involve myself without knowing. If it has not been decided yet, I would be best deployed on the Escort Mission."

The commander nods as you both agree to help, "I thank you both for you willingness to help. Thus far we have been divided. Many opt for the escort mission as well. It has also been suggested that we deploy our carriers, with some escorts, on the scouting mission while others focus on another. A third suggestion was to send the carriers to scout, while disrupting their convoy with the others, and letting our other allies handle our convoy, achieving all three missions at once if things were to go ideally. Others still have yet to speak up. Much as I may have an opinion on this, you all are ultimately the ones going on this mission."

I simply crossed my arms, speaking up after long having made up my mind.
"I..do not know where I could be of use exactly, sir, if I may be honest. Simply..put me where you will think I will be of most help." Yes that was, right.

Because honestly? Besides my first fight duringarrival, I had zero idea on how ships worked exactly, and that meant I didn't know what a ship of my class would be good for...
Embarassing, but true.
But...if I did go with this..at least I wouldbe able to help. Keep the other gidls with me safe, even if I would agonise over the other missions, worrying over the other girls' safety. Tegre weren't many ofus dammit all, and spreading out like this...

"But if I may be honest..I am not confortable with splitting ourselves up. I simply worry..I suppose."
I bit out a soft growl from a bit lip, tail curled uncomfortably showing how I felt, ears twitching nervously on my head.

Yes...this was rather large pickle...

"Well, you know what I am. American battleships like myself? Escorting is what we do. I'd be fine going with the carriers or with escort duty, though my anti-aircraft might make me a little more useful with the carriers?"

"I'd think my group should stick with the CVs," I said. "While we have a fair amount of torpedos, we're a bit lacking in heavier firepower." Wichita paused, thinking. "I also don't like the idea of leaving our CVs with a half-baked escort group while others go off raiding convoys. Besides, can't the CVs split up their air groups to scout and attack that convoy? We could also use some of the cruiser's floatplanes to search for targets as well."

"This puts us at the escorting mission having eight votes, and scouting with our carriers at seven. Raiding being dropped with only five," the commander announced now that it seemed everyone's opinion had been given. "Given two options are close in votes but in opposite directions, do you all wish to commit to one at present, or split our forces to complete both?"

Montana thinks for a moment, then shakes her head. "Sir, at this time I would advise against splitting our forces - if nothing else, we simply don't have enough destroyers to screen two capital ship groups, and sending BBs and CVs on a scouting mission without any destroyer support seems like a very bad idea."

"I agree," Hood states. "We lack the numbers to safely handle both missions."

"What do you think, sis?" Lex quietly asks me.

"Let's not split the party," I answer. It's too risky, especially when we have no idea of the Abyssals' numbers, capabilities, and locations. We can be easily defeated in detail if we divide our numbers.

"Yeah, good idea."

With that, I put in our vote. "Lex and I prefer to focus on one mission."
