Snake Eyes - A Casino Owner Quest in an Occult World

[X] Plan Assassin Focus
-[X] Sniper Rifle (John)
--[X] Silencer
--[X] Night Scope
--[X] Lightweight Parts
-[X] Conceleable bulletproof vests (Mercy, Felix's Guards)
Total cost for plan: 2 + 0,5 + 0,5 + 1 + 0,5 + 1 = 4 + 1,5 = 5,5

I like this one

so, i kinda forgot i wanted to throw in at least one plan as well...
I would like to buy the granade launcher, but maybe next time...
I do wanna get vests for both guards and the bosses though.

[X] Plan: Security Rising
-[X] Shotgun (Felix's Guards) (2f)
-[X] SMG (Fulvia's Guards) (1f)
-[X] Conceleable bulletproof vests (both guards and the bosses) (3,5f)

What would a P90 count as? SMG? If yes, i hope we get those.
Will the guards be there when the demon comes?

Yep, they would count like that. More than specific weapons, they are a class of weapons. Like, a 9mm is a small automatic pistol more than a specific 9 mm.
Will the guards be there when the demon comes?
Everyone will be at the Casino when the Demon will come. I'll also give you options for a preparation round to decide how to "welcome" him.

...shit.
how about a vest and SMGs to everyone?
nvm, that would take everything... But a vest for everyone alone is 6,5...

damn...what now?

I think giving our sneaky guy a sniper is a good idea, that way he doesn't need to get close to a target to take them out.

Can I have three 2d6?
- Random Event + 1
- What is Goldman doing?
- "See that coming" + 3 (We'll probably need one of those).

Changed idea: I need just Goldman roll.

I see no valid reason for you to not have a trap ready for the Demon, since you know he's coming. Narratively, it wouldn't make sense otherwise and as I have written: narrative and mechanics are connected.

You get "See this coming" automatically triggered.

October, Week 4: Resolution Phase II + Event: The Gloves are off I

Resolution Phase II

(Mercy's HP 7/8→6/8 (Fight with the Jackals))

(Mercy's Exp: 1/5→2/5 (6- during Jackals' fight) → 3/5 (Jackals vanquished))

(Mercy's gains Conceleable Bulletproof vest)

(Felix's Guards HP 6/6 → 4/6)

(Felix's Guards Exp 3/5→4/5 (Jackals vanquished)).

(Felix's Guards gain a Conceleable Bulletproof vest)

(Ernesto's Exp: 2/5→3/5 (Jackals vanquished))

(John's Exp: 1/5→2/5 (Jackals vanquished))

(John's gains Sniper Rifles + Night Scope + Silencer + Lightweight parts)

(Fulvia's Guards Exp: 1/5→2/5 (Jackals vanquished))

(Casino's Staff Exp: 1/5→2/5)

(Funds: 12,5→14,5 (Jackal's Loot) →9 (Alex's weapons)→ 7 (Cost of "toys"))

(You get the "Vanille" drug Recipe as a Book)

(Improved relationship with Poulin and he owes you one).

(Removed Jackals's clocks).

Casino Random Event: 7+1=8. Small Positive Effect

While you will be closed for one night, the positive influx of people keeps going, enough to fetch you a small sum of extra money.

(+1.5 funds)

Goldman's Cooperation: 8

You get a message from Goldman the night before the Demon comes.

"I wish you good luck for tomorrow. I'm not going to be idle: I'm looking for more information about our common enemies and how to defeat them for good. I'll inform you when I have results worth sharing."

(New Clock: Goldman Researches on Demon: 0/2)

(Clock Advance):

(A Dangerous Meeting: 3/4→4/4. Event triggers).

The Gloves are off

You are closed for the day, for "maintenance". The whole night, but also the whole morning. No staff around, only you, Mercy, John and Felix and Fulvia.
"So, according to what we know from Goldman, we will face a Demon." You look at the other four people in the room: "Anyone with cold feet?"

John says nothing, but you both know that words aren't needed: you have been together for years, and you will face this together.

Felix scratches the bandage on his shoulder: "I have already taken bullets for you, boss. I don't expect this to be different."

Fulvia nods, in agreement: "I and the others have been guarding the Casino for a month. They will have to pass through us if they want to mess with Hell's Heart."

You look at Mercy, who is checking again the straps of her new vest. "Goldman says that they can take bullets? I have a lot of them to give, then. No way I'm going to miss the show".

You smile at them: "Thank you. We have been open only for one month, but this is our home. If they want troubles, we'll give them plenty."
"Now, the only question is: we want to give him the option to speak? I have time to set a surprise at the entrance so that we can start on the right foot if we wish so."

"Do they even speak?" Asks Fulvia. "According to Goldman, they do". Answers John.

"Since they speak, I can try to talk to them and get intelligence. They could slip something useful, something that confirms who they are. The only thing we know is that they venerate something called "The Snake".

"Crazy Cult isn't the strangest thing to kill on my bucket list, Ernesto." Follows Mercy.
"But you are right: we are out of leads. Having him talk would be good. I can always shoot him later."

You have to take a decision. Goldman said that his demon was difficult to put down, but you have new weapons. If you manage your trap well and with John in an advantageous position, you can deal him a hard blow before it knows what hit it.

Or John could use the rifle without a scope: would be difficult to use it inside your Casino, but it should be viable. You can talk with the demon, pry information from him and then if things go sour, shoot the fucker.

[ ] Trap and Shoot: You will set a trap at the entrance, which will trigger when he comes. John will be in a building across the street to take a clean shoot. You think that you will do enough damage in this way that you, Mercy and the others should be enough to end him. Much of the fight will be outside the Casino, at the entrance.
-[ ] Do you want a more powerful trap? (+1 damage on the trap, use one Charge)

(Start the combat mini-turn immediately. The Demon takes 2 damages, 3 if the trap is charged).

[ ] Talk and (probably) Shoot: You will let him inside, talk and try to get as much info as you can. The others will be ready to fight. You have a surprise for him ready in any case.

(The fight will be inside the Casino, at the entrance. You move things so that they won't get damaged in the gunfight and offer no cover to him. The trap won't do damage and cannot be charged, but the first two attacks against him won't be retaliated. Tongue roll for info quality).

QM Notes: Sheets are going to be updated in a second.

Getting information from the demon could be really useful even though it's risky.

I actually think I can close the vote early, considering that the vote average of the last turns is around 6 voters and we have a solid lead.
Closing in two hours, so I can write the first part of the update.
Question: Do you prefer a smaller update followed by the vote or a summary of what is happening and the vote (like the Combat mini turns), in order to directly do the full update in one go?

Can I get a 2d6+2 roll, please?

Event: The Gloves are off II

The Gloves are off II

The chance to get more intelligence was too good to let pass.

So you wait, with the door closed. You expect the demon to come knocking and that's exactly what he does.
Three loud, forceful knocking on your door. Then the deep voice: "You know who is it, open up." Mercy opens the double door, so to as be the first in case of issues.

The Demon was not exactly what you expect and surely was not the one that paid a visit to Goldman.
For the starter, he looks like a quite tall man, towering with his two meters over Mercy. He's completely bald but compensates with an unkept red beard, framing a wide smile. A leather jacket and pants make him look more like a biker than a demon or a gangster.

"Well, thank you, gal. The boss is the one over them?" he asks Mercy, pointing his finger at you.

"Yes, but I have to check you out." Grunts Mercy, before searching for weapons. After five minutes, she confirms that he's clean. During the entire frisk, he doesn't lose his smile.

You wait for him in the largest zone of the Casino, so that if things go sour, John has space to take one shot. Fulvia and FelFelix'sn are close to the two stairs to the second floor, weapons ready.
"I'm Ernesto Villalobos, to whom I have the pleasure to speak?" You ask him, but the Redbeard ignores you, looking around him.

"Nice open space. Do you expect a gunfight tonight, Ernesto?" He laughs, before looking back at you. "If you want one, you just need to ask."

You frown: "You can't expect anything less after a threatening letter like yours."

"Oh, that wasn't me. It was from my current employer. I'm here just for the talk. He doesn't like to come out often if you catch my drift." He winks at you, the smile of a man knowing a joke that the others cannot get.

"Well, you are here to talk business. So, what business do you have with Hell's Heart?" You ask. That thing about his boss sounds familiar.

"Oh, right. You didn't talk with my boss before opening your place."

"It's not like I know who your boss is, mister …" you ask again.

He waves his hand: "Names are not important and mine less so. Call me … Nathair. Yeah, I like how it sounds".
"So, my boss is actually the man that regulates things in the City. Think about him like the Mayor of the City: you need to get a permit to remain open. And I'm not talking about the official stuff."

"So, your boss is basically the mob?"

Nathair laughs: "Oh, no no. He's much more important. But the thing remains the same: you don't have the permit. Which, considering the late fees …"

He tells you a number. Your blood goes cold: that's a lot of money. You keep your poker face.
"What if I would like to discuss this directly with your boss?"

"Oh, no need for this. No reason to wake the sleeping snake." You notice on his face a moment of panic like he noticed the slip of the tongue.
If you weren't sure about the connection between the Cult of the Snake and the Demon, now you have no doubt.

"So, what you are going to do?" He twitters.

"What if I ask for more time before paying." You ask the obvious question.

"Then I'll break your legs, Ernesto." You heard your men raising their weapons. He doesn't seem to care.

Nathair is asking for 6 funds per week, starting now. I'm having the vote, but I expect your answer.

[ ] Pay this week, ambush him next week. You will get a bit of time.

[ ] Trigger the trap. You don't need more time.
