If we 'accidentally' kill the murderous psychopath in self defence I'm cool with that
This is the sort of reason I hate quests in SV. They talk big about wanting to play a good and uplifting character, but at the first sign of difficulty, they go for the "pragmatic/logical" choice that made the shitty people in Worm as shitty as they are.

You guys are basically saying that you want Alex, on his first encounter, to go fully Killy against his villain. Based on what the QM is hinting, we don't have the control not to pulp him. So we are going for the kill here. Regardless of whether the villain deserves it, this shapes Alex's crimefighting more than anything else. If we want to do good, even though it seems harder, we can't just kill a villain in our first outing.

(Yes an argument can be made that it would be an accident in Alex's eyes if we do murder this guy, but let's not kid ourselves. If we go for the kill now, there will be no stopping SV from going "Hard man who makes hard choices while hard" later.)
[X] This guy is insane. Forget holding back, throw everything you can at this guy before he has a chance to fight back.

- Reverse the gravity on him, make the waves push him as hard and fast as you can upward.

We're a civilian who up until very recently has more then likely not had any combat experience. Now finding our self in a highly stressful situation. People who have not undergone specialised training tend to not react in the most rational of manners. The fight or flight urge will kick in making us want to lash out.

tl;dr: We're in our fist ever cape fight (not including the training we did) where our life could very well be on the line. Lets not half arse this, guys.

*As a bonus us terribly maiming or potentially killing his guy could result in some nice motivation for him.
Unless we really fuck this up, there is little chances of losing to this guy. We are leagues above him just by power alone. As long as we stay reasonably vigilant, we can afford to be a little bit of a do gooder, in our first attempt.

[X] Try and force him down, but don't kill him. Use rocks, waves, anything.
-[X] Move the fight. He's controlling shadows, so a good start is NOT being in a dark place where he can do his shadow bullshit.

This makes sense to me

Bt he can lift things just fine and keep them locked ( like the pencile) the major issue was him using it on himself.

Pencil's are stationary objects. They aren't moving/struggling as humans do.

also do we need to specify the use of the gravity shield thing or is that implied.

Alex naturally has a low level gravity shield over him.

As Manton deduced, Alex's survival instinct coated him in a fine layer of waves that allowed him to tank being blown across the ground by David in his first encounter with him.

If you're talking about a more condensed gravity shield,it is implied yes. Alex will throw it up if he's pressed against a wall.

However, remember this when you think of that.

One by one, the fingers sharppen into beastial claws. One blurs into motion, and you feel a single droplet of blood make its way down your arm. You glance down, on the plus side, your arm is still there. The downside is, you don't see the arm that he attacks you with. All you can see is the gash in your arm.

(Yes an argument can be made that it would be an accident in Alex's eyes if we do murder this guy, but let's not kid ourselves. If we go for the kill now, there will be no stopping SV from going "Hard man who makes hard choices while hard" later.)

To that argument, I point to this.

David puts a single leg under him, but you look at the rock under his foot and it shifts. His balance slips, and he's back to square one. It's at that moment, that you see. It's so easy. A thought and he's all but bowing. You can feel the pressure on his neck, barely a love tap compared to what you feel you can do. It would be so easy to snap your fingers and increase the pressure until he's nothing but paste.

It's so easy.

And that's horrifying.

It doesn't matter how much he tries, David can't even budge from under some of the smallest pressures that you can administer. And, he's like you. He has powers, but that doesn't matter. If you had gotten the drop on him, or simply stopped playing nice.

He would be dead.

And you would have been the one to kill him.

You feel the bile try and force it's way up your throat, but somehow you manage to keep it down. David might be a bit of a dick, but this has gone on long enough. Holding out a glowing hand, you start to reverse the effects of the waves on him.

Yeah let's not go into a mental break that will cause planetary annihilation.

Ok guy's i don't normally do this but watching this vote happen is physically painful for me so consider this a good deed from your local guy in the know. Alex is a pacifist, pacifist don't like hurting people. So can anyone guess how a pacifist might react if they kill someone.

SV: "Oh let's play a good guy!"
SV when confronted with the first sign of actual danger: "Oh boy, here I go killing again!"

People, blow the roof off and then lift him to a couple hundred meters that way no matter how he struggles there's nothing that can hit him.

[x] This guy is insane. Forget holding back, throw everything you can at this guy before he has a chance to fight back.

This feels in character to me, he barely has any idea about his powers let alone anyone else's, why wouldn't he attempt to defend himself with everything he's got?

[x] Break the wall behind you, and get out of here as fast as the waves can carry you. You don't want to hurt him, but you sure as hell don't want to fight him either.

It is not in our best interests to kill some random guy with superpowers. Killing is bad if you've never done it before.

Good guy? Hero?

Who wants to be that?! ;)

Guys, don't you remember what killed most of Cauldron in the canon? Shit you are suggesting is what did it.
SV talks big, but when push comes to shove, SV just wants to kill the Lampreys.

Killing so soon? Too sad.
