Shield Hero, but hopefully Heroic

I'm banking on there being a lot of different skillsets here with a quantity over quality outlook.

We may find a diamond in the group for us.

Having read through this, I must say that Yukihime needs hugs. And going with the non-nobles is probably a good idea given the likely reason behind Itsuki's actions.

[X] Knights of the Holy Saint Lois III. This is probably a bad idea, they're a group of elite paladins from the Church of Three Heroes.

Paladins!

The knights from the Church are a flat-out bad idea with us being their faith's version of Lucifer, so that leaves us with professional all-girl knights, or the knights of the mystery box. Now, as some people might have pointed out, there may be complications with choosing the Rose knights, for one reason or another, while the nature of the mystery box knights means that we could, in theory, get at least one or two, possibly an entire handful if we're lucky, of knights that are even better than professionals.

If we were just doing some ordinary mission and the knights were our regular backup, I'd say the hedge knights would be our best bet. But we're not; we're trying to capture another legendary hero, one who has the advantage of reach and possibly a pre-prepared position at his disposal. I'm not about to trust our luck to the hedge knights on the chance that we get stuck with the shitters. This mission calls for skilled professionals of guaranteed quality, and given the choice between the Church knights or the Rose knights, I pick the Rose knights because they aren't guaranteed to hate us right off the bat by merit of who we are.

Rose Knights will just piss Itsuki off when we confront him. Hedge knights is a safer bet, and I feel helps cement our image as the "Hero of the Common Folk." Bibles won't like that, but civilians will, and civilian support is what matters the most. Nobles and royals are dependent on civilians for a lot of things, and if we hold sway with the common man we could easily use their support as leverage on top of our position as Hero should the aristocracy try anything stupid.

You see, this martial art requires you to utilize what all serious Monk techniques need, life energy. You came from a world where there was none, and you had none. Nor did the boy you were with at the time had any either... For all intents and purposes that was impossible you were quite literally void of life. But for a while now, I've been detecting that you've been slowly changing on a metaphysical level that I am only aware of due to my experience in sensing life energy... You started with none, but that is no longer the case. I've been sensing you gain life energy reserves which should be impossible... And if I'm correct you may have been given the ability to use magic as well... Unfortunately merely having the energy is not the same as being able to use it... So that's what we will be working on alongside various mental techniques. It will also give you time to physically recover your body from your... Training accident..." William pointedly looks at your hand, with quite the impressive deadpan expression. It wasn't your fault that you didn't know you couldn't use other 'weapons' with the Shield!
Are you not taking Ki into account, or is life energy ki by another name?

I get what you're saying, and I think we should definitely keep the hedge knights in the back of our mind in case we feel like sniffing out a diamond in the rough as the next member of our crew, but right now we're dealing with an incredibly dangerous enemy and we need to be focused more on getting the job done and less on making a statement. If Itsuki is treating this like a game, as he is in canon, then he won't be "pissed" if we send knights after him, so much as he will think "the mooks have stepped it up a notch, I must be getting close to the next boss" or something to that effect. We want mooks whose quality are assured, so as to give us the greatest possible chance of beating him.

You had no idea what to say at first. You doubted you were monk material but William didn't really wanted you to be one did he? He wanted to pass on what he learned to the younger generation... "I'd be honored William... But don't expect me to address you formally or anything like that." You doubted he wanted you to, but it's a deal breaker for you. It'd be way to weird after getting used to saying his first name to call him Master Blackwood or Elder Blackwood etc. "No, I don't need you to address me any differently. Now that I have gotten a feel for your personality and beliefs I think I can trust you with my teachings, how exciting! I haven't had a new student in a while... Believe it or not I think you have the potential to be a great monk even if I doubt you'll become one." Yeah, you doubted that too.
"Also, I am not shaving my hair. I just had it fixed and am literally days from finally having decent clothes, so there is no chance in hell I'll let go of this mane before I get to show off to Saki. Yes, I realise that she's in an entirely different world by now, that should tell you something about how fucking far away from that Idea I am."

Look, we leave in two days right? That's the same time by which our prince outfit will be finished! Just imagine how cool we will look as the dashing Takarazu leader of an elite team of kickass warriors!

You know there are several potential political problems that can arise from going with the Rose Knights, right?

YES, BUT THINK OF HOW COOL WE'LL LOOK!

As full blown knights, they will be actual nobles and in this world that means that roughly 95% of them will be assholes.

YES, BUT THINK OF HOW COOL WE'LL LOOK!

Hugger, you are literally using aesthetics as an argument for what soldiers we should bring into battle.
YES, BUT THINK OF HOW FREAKING COOL WE WILL LOOK!

I'm torn between the Hedge Knights, my preference, and the Knights of the Rose, the ensured-quality option. I think I'm going to go with the Hedge Knights on the assumption that the King wouldn't send them with us if they had no possible chance of pulling it off.

That said, I am AMAZED at how fast Itsuki works! I think this is the fifth day, right?

Day 1-Summoning and recruiting William
Day 2-Monster slaying
Day 3-Spider slaying
Day 4-Shopping
Day 5-King's mission letter

Sorry for the double-post, but it's been 3 hours without anyone else posting. I just wanted to mention that this vote MIGHT determine how the King thinks of Yukihime. It depends on whether the King or Yukihime is choosing the knight group.

Knights of the Rose. An all female knight group. They're usually used as an elite bodyguard for high ranking female nobility.
Maybe this is a sign that the Shield Hero now has the King's favor? These knights would suggest that the King considers Yukihime to be high ranking female nobility. Either that or Princess Malty will be accompanying us to try to prove herself.

Knights of the Holy Saint Lois III. This is probably a bad idea, they're a group of elite paladins from the Church of Three Heroes.
The King HATES the Shield Hero, enough to risk the mission failing due to conflicts between the Shield Hero and the knights. Or maybe just that the King really wants to stay on the church's good side.

The neutral option. The King doesn't like us but doesn't hate us either.

If it turns out that Yukihime is choosing the knights, then I'm surprised that the King is giving her the option to pick the Knights of the Rose. Of course, he's also letting her choose the church's knights so maybe it's that he's putting all of the decisions on Yukihime, either to see how she does or in case things go wrong?
