She Sold Her Soul To The Company Store

Although the drones are flexible they are also individually fragile, and the computing power is important. Also power should, hopefully, not be too much of an issue, so long as we're raiding the ruins- hopefully we can find a solar panel or nuclear reactor or something. I'd prefer not to move around too much just yet- better to try and carve out a little fiefdom in the ruins first.

You could theoretically get your hands on a portable generator, but that's not going to be printable with office supplies like some things are. The earthworks has a few gens and stuff on premises, enough to charge a portable battery pretty quick, but they're not mobile.

Power generation was mostly a solved problem, enough that it wasn't a major focus of Arcology planning or anything. The "Grid" that existed in Naoko's time was close enough to infinite for her to not think about it.

Batteries were kind of a thing for the upper class to use when going on trips in the wilderness, though, so instead of being light and relying on nightly charging, the designs assume you're going away from arcs for a bit. So you should be able to find something suitable without too much hassle.

[X] Well, you are in fancier offices. You might be able to scavenge a mobile projector and something to attach to it, and just find ways to keep topped up on battery? [Will lead to a very short vote for more options, since this is basically grabbing random bits of tech and hooking them all up. Might have the best computing power, but needing to charge every week or so sucks if you have to travel too far.]

[X] You know some places in the Arcology, especially the old undercity. Old haunts, as it were. Drag the kid there and see if there's anything left at all. [Ruins]

Presumably we can upgrade and create a superior robot body later.

[X] Ayax looks nervous after you got lost in thought, and keeps playing with that necklace. If it is tech, maybe it's an old wearable, or some Corp luminary's personal thing? You know the execs were more attached to personal computing than most people could afford. You could at least ask if they know what it is. [Upsides - very easy for Ayax to carry, surprisingly decent computing power, so you'll only lose a bit of overclocking headroom. Downsides - ???, You have no idea where they got this.]
[X] Ayax must have come from somewhere out there, whatever's gone down. Let them lead you back there, and you'll get some quick answers. [Waystation]

Btw, if you have an idea for the hacked together option, feel free to list that as a sub vote or a snippet? Anything that helps me think of options for the mini vote there will be appreciated.

(Snippet is a vote with empty brackets in colored text so it stands out to a QM, like
[ ] Just use an old mac, those never go out of date)

... Odd. The tally doesn't seem to be counting the last two votes?

@NemoMarx
[ ] Looks like one of the workers was a lifestreamer, there's a fairly nice camera drone here with an onboard editing and social management suite you can purge to make room. No construct, minimal security. Almost retro. Hook it up with one of the workstation projectors and a bit of external storage and call it a day.
[ ] That overengineered desk printer has an internal battery and way too many hardware ports (haven't you heard of modern design?). You can plug in every peripheral you can crack, make it all talk to each other, then put the mess on top of that coffee-fetching 'bot in the corner. Kind of heavy and awkward, though.

[X] There's some surveying drones back in maintenance.

We grant a mortal treasures, they help grant us a measure of freedom. That's how it usually works, right? :V

The fact that the only context smolbug has for us is 'demon' leads me to suspect that the waystation might default to unfriendly. Also, the ruins will let us take a firsthand look at whatever went down out there, no language barrier, no mangled stories.

Mysteries, ho! o/

[X] There's some surveying drones back in maintenance. You don't want to waste too much time with them, but if you got two running that's enough for a swarm network, right? And they'd have some utility outside of just being computing for you. [Upsides - hyper mobile, and you don't need someone to carry them around. The drones themselves have good cameras and some other sensor tech. You could also theoretically find more in the future? Downsides - They're not exactly defense grade, and theoretically someone could knock you out of the sky. Also, they're going to be light on computing power.]

I figure if we want to go to the other place we might be able to better prepare Ayax and ourselves if we know what resources we definitely have access to.

[X] Write-in: Tell Ayax that we're done here for now, but there might be other places with shiny things if they want to go exploring outside this building?

I could use a tie breaker vote on hardware choices!

And then I think I want to lock this tonight and start writing, since it's slowing anyway. So let's just say it'll lock when there's a clear winner.
