Way I see it, the shovel lets us open new routes, the tablet lets us scout, and the jacket maybe protects us maybe gives us status.

[X] A glowing digging tool, with glyphs on the shaft. It even looks like it might have a spirit possessing it! That's got to be rare. They could use it to dig up more treasure, or maybe as a weapon, and it'll be useful somehow either way.

[] They immediately head towards the vents, which might indeed be a way to get to other parts of the building, but which creates awkwardness for you.

[X] They ask, eagerly, to go up another level, looking at you with wide eyes and seeming to trust that you'll do what's best and help them, for whatever reason.

Edit: tactical voting because I want to play in the temple more...

And vents because I want to see what happens when Naoko needs to push back on Ayax, in a relatively safe (Naoko knows it and has some credentials) place.

Not gonna lie, the idea of our smol friend (my mental image of Ayax is 'umber hulk, but tinier') grabbing a shiny IoT jackhammer and dragging it into the vents just makes me giggle.

It looks like the current consensus is for a fancy shovel and to head right towards the elevators. I'll give people until sometime tomorrow to see if that's the combination they're happiest with, or if anyone wants to tactically vote now or such?

I'm okay with the shovel. Still want to have greed (find MOAR stuff!) instead of pride (show it off!) but hey a bug's gotta do what a bug's gotta do.

If you want to find more stuff, anything but the elevators could lead that way.

And I should point out that Ayax is completely forgetting that demons usually need a phylactery or a familiar as an anchor to keep them around outside of a temple, so that might factor into the treasure?

You should also speculate about what those two are, although I think the metaphor is pretty direct here. A mind needs a squishy meat sponge, for humans, and an AI needs...

Yyeah, something with memory to store it, if we are talking passively, and compute, source of energy and whatnot if we want to actually be active outside.

Granted, IoT means AI can be on random server farm and the smart tool (smart shovel is about what I expect from IoT lol) can just talk to it...well, if Internet is still around. Which might not be the case...

I am still not sure what could it mean for us though. Well, for choice of treasure. Tablet might be, like, a tablet - in which case, it probably is powerful enough to store at least a personal assistant of some sort till battery runs out.

Thin IoT clients most likely don't...although it depends on level of magitech, naturally.

Also, whitelist of people who can bypass authentication?
And future version of posers who use emacs vim needle and steady hand text editor, hah.

This quest is good civ (although the civs depicted in it aren't :V)

"Please state the nature of the medical infosec emergency."

Anyway, given that the bugs are probably a pre-industrial society, the iShovel is probably actually an incredibly useful thing.

Yeah, you're kinda deciding what sort of bug Ayax is. Well, some things are kinda set, like being an exciteable but not...incredibly bright kid, but other things will come out!
