Shadows of the Past

[X] [Goal] To rediscover the lost arts of our ancestors, to bring them to the tribe's benefit, to keep our people safe from the at times senseless wrath of the spirits. As a start, make our way to the great Library to continue learning more.
[X] Plan Life Goals
-[X] [Main] Spirit Lore
-[X] [Main] Tracking and Stealth
-[X] [Secondary] Train a single skill: Social Skills
-[X] [Secondary] Train a single skill: Healing and Plant Lore
-[X] [Secondary] Pick another Main action (Takes two Secondaries): Survival and Animal Handling

My reasoning is thus: our tribe specifically values spirit lore above all else. Our master as the shaman of said tribe will have the most knowledge of spirits of literally everyone alive. We will not find a better teacher than him, perhaps not even in the library. And if the chapter is anything to go by, this is our last chance to learn from him, so Main Spirit Lore it is. And as for the secondaries, we're not allowed to have multiple mains from our master, but there's nothing that says we can't at least have minor actions to learn from him. And we do need to improve those social skill before we're off on our own (and I kind of want to improve surgery a bit more if we're lucky).

But bottomline, I just want to learn as much as we can from our master before he dies.

I want to go dungeon delving, but at the same time this simply isn't the right turn for it. :(

As for the goal, that's subject to change, but my goal for this quest was always to reclaim lost arts and to build our people up so that we have a way to defend ourselves from the spirits.

[X] [Goal] To learn of the past and of the present, of the secrets and of the spirits, to know, so that you can better be of help to the tribe. Maybe you'll need to stay away from them for that, but that is also a price payd.

[X] Plan Getting Ready
-[X] [Main] Spirit Lore
-[X] [Main] Survival and Animal Handling
-[X] [Secondary] Pick another Main action (Takes two Secondarys):
--[X] [Main] Fighting. Pick two skills to focus on.
---[X] Bladed Weapons
---[X] Bows
-[X] [Secondary] Attend the offerings to the spirits.
-[X] [Secondary] Gather herbs and perform Alchemy once the stars are right.
--[X] Numbing Brew x02
--[X] Mosquito's Bane
--[X] Graves Kiss
--[X] Purging Sludge
--[X] Jungles Scent

I'd like to make the social one, but spirit lore IS more important for us, especially if we plan to go around learning and unraveling misteries, since we'll find lot's of spirits. The same reasoning for the other two mains, really. The offering... I want to prove to the tribe that we aren't cursed, that we are ust like others and that we can be trusted. If we spend a long time away, we'll need them to trully trust us for everytime we come back. I guess I don't need to explain the alchemy one? Just that, going by our character sheet, we already got plenty prepared, this are the ones we don't have so much, and we should be ready for any situation.

[X] [Goal] To know the spirits and the mistakes of the past and to make our people be friends with spirits, not just wary neighbours.

[X] Plan Do not Die from a Prod
-[X] [Main] Spirit Lore
-[X] [Main] Fighting
--[X] Bladed Weapons
--[X] Bows
-[X] [Secondary] Train a single skill: Diplomacy
-[X] [Secondary] Train a single skill: Surgery
-[X] [Secondary] Pick another Main action: Survival and Animal Handling

I want us to be able to survive in a fight for a little bit, and we saw how stacked combat can be. Also, Main animal handling to be on our way to maybe pick up an animal companion to assist with running around the jungle.

This would be nice, but everything we've seen gives me the sense that the spirits are either spiteful assholes whenever it suits them or actively fucking demonic. Shit, just look at the one we ran into. o_O I don't think being friends with them is in the cards.

If we find a nice spirit I will be astonished, I'll tell you that much.

[x] [Secondary] Start working on Manauia. Convince her to leave with you after Mahuizo is dead.

Honestly? Fuck the tribe. They are tiny, small minded, stubborn, superstitious fools with a toxic society in the way they treated us.

Also, Duesal, please put the Goal vote outside your turn plan.

Not how this works guys, you pick one single skill from the skill list.

I think our short term goal should be reaching that university city.

Done.

We've got to start somewhere. I'm not at all fond of them either, but I will drag these fuckers kicking and screaming into an empire reborn. The second we find a better more accepting tribe I'd happily abandon these assholes so long as we can convince Icnoyotl (why did he change from such a simple name?) and Manauia to come with us.

[X] [Goal] To explore and rediscover all the lost lore of the past, and perhaps to add something new to it. To use that knowledge so that you never again need to live in fear, either from spirits or humans.

Essentially, become an adventurer until we reach the level cap, then we make ourselves some new fucking levels to reach.

Now, before everyone jumps the gun, let's take a look at what we actually have:
Strength - 6
Dexterity - 7
Constitution - 5

Intelligence - 5
Charisma - 4
Concentration - 6

Skills
Bladed Weapons - 3 (246/1000)
Archery - 2 (228/600)
Evasion - 3 (70/1000)
Sneaking - 3 (81/1000)

Survival - 3 (77/1000)
Tracking - 2 (108/600)
Endurance - 3 (536/1000)
Perception - 3 (526/1000)

Herbalism - 3 (510/1000)
Medicine - 3 (282/1000)
Surgery - 1 (204/300)
Spirit Lore - 4 (23/1500)
Spirit Talking - 3 (502/1000)
Astronomy - 3 (453/1000)

Diplomacy - 2 (397/600)
Intrigue - 2 (266/600)
Charm - 1 (168/300)

Alchemy - 2 (52/600)
For a 14 year old, our physical skills are pretty damn good, and currently our forte. Our mental ones are barely acceptable, with average intelligence, bellow average charisma and somewhat trained concentration.

Skill wise, we are actually in a pretty good place: Rank 4 in Spirit Lore, which is one short of fully fledged professional, and a bunch of 3s, which ain't bad.

Notably, we don't actually need to train Survival. We have a competent three ranks in it already due the environment, and another three ranks in herbalism to complement it.

We do have a real weakness in the social skills tho. I suggest, thus, that we take our main from our Shaman Sensei in Social Fu, as that enables us to get even more things, including more teaching, and will likely level the social skills to a decent level. It also fulfills the "take these at least twice" recommendation

Archery is a low hanging fruit and mighty handy, besides being strong.

Surgery we know very of and sounds like a tremendously valuable skill to have. Also very close to rank up.

So from that, we have Main: Social, Train Skill x2 (Archery, Surgery). I'm thinking about the rest.

Gahh, spent the whole night bingeing Grimm, not a great time for plan making but let's try:
[X] [Goal] To explore and rediscover all the lost lore of the past, and perhaps to add something new to it. To use that knowledge so that you never again need to live in fear, either from spirits or humans.

[X] Plan Better Prep
-[X] [Main] Social Skills
-[X] [Main] Survival and Animal Handling
-[X] [Secondary] Extra Main: Learn How To Fight: Bladed Weapons & Bow
-[X] [Secondary] Train Skill: Surgery
-[X] [Secondary] Train Skill: Charm

So, reasoning:
- Main Social because holy shit do we suck at social compared to anything else that isn't animal handling.
- Survival because everyone wants it, our animal handling is actually zero, and it should train endurance and perception, hopefully leveling them up.
- Bonus Main: Fighting because Archery must be there, and at that point we might as well get some Main strenght dice going by burning another secondary, and we may even rank Bladed Weapons up.
- Surgery because sweet jesus is that important for the team healer or what. It's a super valuable skill, and it's very close to leveling. I only wish we could throw more dice at it.
- Charm is shoring up our lowest social in what I suspect to be a widely applicable skill, I would have gone for more brews but we already have enough I'm not sure it's practical to carry more.

@Azel isn't our bow Exceptional?

We know of that great center of knowledge.

I like the gang, but I'm not going to support shackling ourselves to this mediocre, cyclical life in this miserable tribe.

Alright, fair. But Manauia at least we're not leaving behind. One way or another that woman is coming with us.
I'd like that, but isn't her job essentially "protecting the shaman"?

We aren't getting Atl, so I doubt we would be getting her.

I could see her swinging that way because she likes us better, but I'm not confident on it.

@Metrux @Zeitgeist Blue We need Main Social, and doing the offering when both of the tribe's current shamans highly advise against it doesn't sound like a good idea. Also, I'd like some extra brews too, but we already have a ton.
@veekie @FortTell Same, we need Main Charisma, no two ways about it.
@giodan That plan is actually illegal, the way it's written.
@araa Our votes are very similar, can I convince you to consolidate?

So long as we make the effort I'll be happy.

Atl (you know what, screw his new name, I'm just going to keep calling him Atl) has enough Social Skills that he managed to slowly turn around everyone in the tribe hating on us. Even if Manauia comes with us he'll be perfectly fine, he'll find another hunter as a replacement.

We can learn social from non-shaman people. But when he dies whats left of the spirit lore is permanently gone.
Social skills are a lot more common than spirit lore.
Problem is, currently? We can't.

And I very much doubt we will be any more welcome in the tribe after he dies. No reason to contest Atil as new shaman, we ought to skip town, and good riddance at that. At which point, we will dearly need those social skills.

Even if we stayed, we'd be fully grown by then. That kind of skill is not something easily taught.

I will turn your point around and say that we have better odds of finding further tutelage in academic matters than social skills, due to one being, well, academic and the other deeply personal.

And we seriously suck at it.

We were also told by sensei himself to pick Main Social at least twice.

Ironically enough, despite the Spirit Lore being permanently lost with the death of our master, we have to sacrifice that and Main in Social Skills so that we can convince the library people to teach us other things.

Precisely. And once out on our own, we kind of need to not be horribly ripped off, to avoid offending someone important and generally function as a human being, considering the extremely sheltered, in a way, life we've led till now.

We very much built a bubble in which being blunt, rude, and not terribly perceptive didn't matter much. That bubble is about to pop.

On a meta perspective, I'd rather not play Azel!Quest without socials.

That nat 1 for the Social Trait was extremely unpleasant, but the Misdirection trait really really helped make up for it. Fingers crossed for this turn.
