Welcome to humanity's second home. After escaping the onslaught of the alien Invaders and the horrific Crash, after journeying through uncharted and hostile space, after trying and failing to rebuild what they had on Old Earth, most of humanity now lives in the City of Light.

Not you, though. The City sounds awful. Play as the fiercely independent Outlanders of Archanea, divided into many small kingdoms of neo-feudal techno-barbarians, oft-troubled by conflict. At the current time, Archanea quakes in the wake of the Earth Dragon Medeus, who has declared a new empire. Its human powers scramble to respond. Who are you, and how will you face this new age?

  • [X] You will play as Michalis of Macedon, newly-ascended king of a proud island nation. It was in Macedon's very heart that Medeus emerged, and it is a testament to your quick thinking that the kingdom has not been swept away entirely. You paid a dark price and yoked your star to his – but not permanently, oh no. Michalis of Macedon was not made to bow before another's might. One day, the Empire of Dohlr will fall, and Macedon will rise!
[x] You will play as Mostyn, King of Talys. An escapee from the City in your youth, you forged a kingdom from promises of independence and peace, promises you have done your best to keep. Your remote island nation has escaped Dohlr's notice for the time being, but that will surely not last for long. When the Dragon's gaze turns to you, will you be ready?
[X] You will play as Camus of Grust, commander of the Sable Order and newly-appointed Governor of Pales. You are sworn to King Ludwik of Grust, and through him, Medeus. For its defiance of the Dragon Emperor, the so-called Holy Kingdom of Archanea has been humbled, conquered, broken, and it was by your hand. Now comes the much more difficult task, that of ruling and rebuilding. You are playing a delicate political game, one you are most unused to, but you have never fallen short of excellence and do not intend to start.

This count is a little glitchy, since it failed to count the votes for Plan Covering Our Bases, but a winning plan is a winning plan.

And it's got me laughing. There was an incident in a previous quest I ran, where the protagonist recieved information that, while he was away fighting a foreign war, the enemy had sent a fleet to attack his homeland. Worried, the voters debated whether the target of the attack would be the capital or the wealthiest city - where should they try to divert resources and prepare defenses? How much time did they have? The eventual plan they came up with was to have the protagonist speedily fly on dragonback to the nearest friendly port, and from there he would send letters to both potential targets, warning them (Yes, this is the third fanfiction and second quest I've written about an ambitious young king who rides a white dragon, it's weird but y'all voted for this). Anyway, while he was there, the enemy fleet showed up. Turns out this place was their target all along! The voters completely overlooked it, but managed to have an army-defining combat asset in place to defend the city anyway.

This particular plan has me laughing even harder. You'll see why. To @Amperstand in particular: Don't worry about the dracoknights. You'll find them. And then you'll get to see what a combat mission is like!

  • [X] With the Wolfguard Battle makes strange bedfellows, sometimes. Follow Caeda to these knights of Aurelis and lend Hauteclere to their crusade. Present the bandits with the justice that they deserve.
[X] With the Whitewings She will not forget who is her enemy and who is her friend. Fly to the rendezvous point, gather up whoever's present, and present the traitor with the weight of Macedon's displeasure.

This is the actual vote count.

  • [X] Wolf, Coyote's Loyal Shadow, the eerie and intense namesake of the Wolfguard
[X] Hardin, the Coyote, who always has a trick up his sleeve
[X] Roshea, the Raccoon, the cutest little guy in Aurelis

And so you've chosen to get a better look at Wolf. Hm. This should be interesting.

  • [X] Stall until the Gala There must be some gambit you can pull together between now and then. [The Pales Gala paralogue will be at the end of the turn. Maria must attend. If whatever you plan fails, you will lose her at the end of it.]
[X] Refuse and bear the consequences. Macedon does not bow to tyrants. [This will be bad for you, but it's not a game over.]

  • [X] Throw that man in the trash.
[X] Encourage Mannu to choose Dhalsim as a replacement for Homer, should Dhalsim be willing.
[X] Homer's…fine. Homer will continue to serve as Mannu's chief diplomat, representing him to the human powers of Archanea, including at the Pales Gala. A major diplomatic incident is all but guaranteed.
[X] Throw that man in the trash. Homer will be removed from his position. While Mannu may not find a replacement in time for the Gala, whoever he appoints in the end will probably be better for his rule. They certainly can't be worse!

  • [X] [SHOPPING] Firestone A dull red stone that feels slightly warm to the touch. It is, allegedly, from Pyrathi. The vendor insists that she is not responsible for any curses that may or may not affect people who take volcanic rocks from the islands. Maria says it doesn't feel cursed, just dangerously powerful.
[X] [GALA] King Jiol of Gra is the oldest person here. Standing beside him is a lovely brunette woman who could be either his wife or daughter, and a second brunette who is, presumably, whichever of the two the first one isn't. They are speaking in a businesslike manner to a rotund man identified as Chancellor Desaix of Zofia.
[X] [GALA] Some sort of quarrel is brewing between a few of the local nobility. Hilda and Blume Friege have cornered a rather frail-looking woman, swathed in mourning black, who was introduced as Deirdre Chalphy.
[X] [GALA] Why the hell is Homer here? Didn't the Whitewings get him fired? And why does Prince Berkut of Rigel look so fascinated with what he has to say?
[X] [GALA] Princess Caeda of Talys – who might be the same pegasus knight your sister met in Aurelis – is nodding in sympathy with a man named Etzel, wearing a monocle and the robes of a sorcerer.
    [X] [SHOPPING] Firestone
