Seventy Seven Ways to Kill a Vampire [Exalted vs the World of Darkness]

[x] Close with them and end the fight with your sword. [1x]

in for a penny, in for a pound.

I forget, this is NWOD of darkness right? So not mage the ascension?

Also, liking how this story is shaping up.

Solar shaping is hard to get, and involves medicine/surgery if i am remembering correctly. (Note: sorcery does not count).

their shaping defense is easy to get and probably the best in the game.

Without the use of Sorcery, the only thing Solars can Shape is the Wyld. (Strictly speaking Order-Affirming Blow is a Shaping charm, but its effect is limited to removing all other Shaping effects currently applied to the target.)

There is the science of mutation in 2e that lets you perform surgeries to give mutations. Bit i think thats it.

General themes for solar charms are skill, light, and purity.

I heard if you get it high enough you can create minions and magic stuff.

Okay, so worth noting for those who have come late or forgotten in the interim, this is Exalted Vs The World of Darkness, Charms and general rules may be similar to main line Exalted, but are not the same.

Shaping isn't a proper term in the system used. Chaos Repelling Prana, rather than Integrity Protecting Prana, is our anti-"Fuck You" magic defense.

Wyld-Shaping also isn't a thing in this, largely for lack of Wyld to Shape. We can empower minions in the sense of super training them with Tiger Warrior Training or Legendary Scholar Curriculum. If we want to make magic items, we can make them with Copper Spider Conception(Fetishes) or Wonder Forging Genius(Talismans and Devices).

There goes the Sheriff or Justicar. Meh, the way things are going it's going to become quite hot.

'New gang on the news using explosives and swords. Police looking for them as we speak. Rumors of associates waving around staffs and wands areosoling hallucinatory drugs.'

... soon ...

'We had to nuke that city, a rebellion against the united states can not... what do you mean it's still there? What do you mean the explosion was parried!?'

Just double checked, and yeah Tiger Warrior Training Technique seems our best bet for minions. Gives people 30 xp to spend on all the fight stuff, though it can never let someone exceed our skills. Subsequent uses on a person are allowed but only give 20 xp

You do not know what you are, but you know what you can do. Your blade will safeguard you for long enough to end this, and so you rush forward. Time slows, and you see the bullets arc towards you. You dance between them, sparks splashing of your sword as you deflect any that might hit too close to home. They try to box you in, to herd you to a place where they can kill you. They have fought things that could dodge a bullet before, then.

But they have not for you before, and the sunlight in your veins signs with fresh power. You felt the power you had spent return to you when you slew the vampire, and it guarded you still. You sprint forwards with inhuman speed, approaching the office block the gunmen are shooting from. You feel your power flow to your legs, and you leap forward.

Your foot touches the side of the building, and you run up. Gravity is no defence for those inside, for before they can fire off another burst of gunfire you leap off the broken window they were firing from and cut them down as you fly past them. You land in a roll and stand to see the gunman turn to ash. Your sword still glows ever-so-slightly with golden light, as if reflecting the light of the coming dawn. They throw down their guns and run at you, all claws and fangs.

This is the way it should be, you think. Some distant part of you remembers this, fang against steel. Their charge is brave but doomed. You cut the hands of one and kick him out the window, then turn to block the other's claws. Steel sparks against unnatural bone and the vampire's sheer strength surprises you. He pushes you backwards, your feet skidding against the bare concrete floor of the disused office, and then the two of you go flying through the side of the building and into the air.

You twist like a snake in mid air and bring your blade down upon the vampire. For a moment, the flash of golden light seems to cast the entire street into daylight. His ashes explode downwards from the force of your blow, and you run down them with graceful ease.

The handless vampire is trying to crawl away, heavily injured but still alive. You sheathe your sword and stalk over to him. He looks away from you, the sumps where his hands once were still smoking. The smell is acrid and foul, like rotten meat over an open fire, but you bend your knees to get down close to him.

"Hey, asshole, I've got places to be, vampires to slay - you know how it is - so listen up. The days of you just peacefully feeding in this city are over. I want you to crawl back to your boss, your king, your daddy - whatever. I want you to crawl back to him and tell him that I stood against his best, and now they're all ash. No more peace with monsters like you. You got that, asshole?" you ask, and he nods.

"I-I'll tell him," he manages through the pain, and you consider that good enough.

"Better get a move on, the sun's almost out," you say, and walk into the shadows of the suburban street.

++++++

The dawn breaks, and you feel your power return to you in full. You stare out from atop the roof of Ivo's building, the biting autumn winds of no concern to you. You will sleep soon, but not before you train. You work through your forms, your exercises, but it all seems hollow. Your strikes and parries feel less like the work of a master and more like the direct-to-DVD sequel. You can feel the shadow of something greater, almost whispered on the wind.

Slowly, you abandon form and kata and listen to the echoes of a long lost epoch. Perhaps man has forgotten the arts of the time of legends, but some remnant remains. Some whispered tradition, some hidden tablet. Perhaps the world itself remembers. This is not the work of a morning, you think, as you lay down your blade and wipe the sweat from your brow.

"I thought I might find you up here, Anna," you hear from behind you. The voice is comforting and familiar, and you turn to face your old mentor - and current employer - with a smile.

"You did insist that the early morning cold was good for my health, Ivo," you say. Your hair flaps in the wind, dark brown and tied into a long braid.

"We need to talk," he says.

"Look, if it's about the damage-"

"It's about the vampire you have staked and shoved in the closet,"

"Ah. You noticed that then," you say, wondering if everyone but you knew that vampires were real.

"He'd fallen out and onto the floor whilst you were up here," he replied, looking out onto the dawn sky. "But that's not what we need to talk about," he continues.

"Then what do we need to talk about?" you ask.

"You've already seen that there are things in the night - and there are far more terrifying things out there than vampires. But we're not so helpless. Every so often, a human awakens to the truth of the world - that it is malleable. It is what I had hoped for you, before all this,"

"I was getting real excited for my Hogwarts letter there for a second. So if I'm not a wiz - no, a mage, right? If I'm not a mage, then what am I?" you ask. Ivo twitches at your pop-culture reference.

"Honestly, I have no idea. Perhaps some of my training might be of use to you still - I know a few tricks that might be applicable even if you aren't a mage," he says, pausing for a moment. "We need to talk about what you did last night, however,"

"I really didn't mean to get into so many fights. They just sorta kept on attacking me..." you reply.

"You've lit a spark into an already volatile situation - but it was one that needed lighting. Peace with those creatures was bought with innocent blood. If you're going to fight against them though, why don't you show me what you can do..."

You have 10xp to spend, see character sheet for prices & what to spend it on. You generally earn 2xp per update, with 3 given out at the end of arcs as a bonus. Omakes, etc. may grant you xp as well.

[x] Vote by plan on what to spend your XP on.

Anyone good with exalted or do we already have a plan.
I personally want to become as good with guns and go full gun kata and sword fu on people. One in each hand. It would bit more interesting and gives us a bit of ranged option.

So, preliminary thoughts:

We're a dawn and I want to play to our strengths. Fighting monsters, leading people, that sort of thing.

Based on our actions so far melee combat seems like our best stat, though some unarmed would be good if we lose our weapon.

Other than a smattering of social stuff to get people to follow us and then a bunch of training stuff to enhance them seems like a good idea

You have three dots in brawl. You can find the character sheet in the threadmarks.
