[x] Modified Plan Teen Spirit
Same as Plan Teen Spirit except
Name: Julian Santiago
(St. Julian is the patron saint of Hospitality, and travellers in general. While Santiago or Saint James is the patron saint of Spain. Truthfully, I just want a name besides Sebastian Rodriguez

You're misunderstanding what I mean by this. The guy's good at getting you in roads with the local heads and and various leaders without you accidentally insulting them and forcing them to kill you. However, other than things that are somewhat common across all of Japan, like Shinto practices for the higher gods and certain permutations of Buddhism, the cultures are too different between many of the clans for his input to really even matter much beyond the basics.

Not that he isn't useful, mind you. After all, the Jesuits were lambasted by their Dominican and Franciscan brothers for focusing too much on converting the leaders of various foreign nations, rather than the common folk. It's actually a point of contention that develop between them in Japan later on that helped to fuel the fires of Anti-Christian sentiment under the Tokugawa shogunate. Because the Franciscan and Dominican Friars who followed the Jesuits into Japan would start to convert the various peasant classes before even talking to the leaders, they started to fear that they would cause the same kind of revolt they saw with the ikko-ikki. Eventually leading up to two and a half centuries of persecution. Hell, I'm pretty sure the Jesuits have only been let back into Japan since the 1960s.

Also, before my phone dies, I want to ask you guys a question. Do you want votes to be done by plan, or by line? Personally, I prefer by line, but I'm willing to compromise if you guys think it's better to go by plan.

By line tends to end up in hilarious combos, but no matter how much I like that, by Plan is the best to reduce Player Salt Levels.

Mmmm

Alright, starting after this vote, we're gonna have line voting, rather than plans. If only because this is mostly gonna be one-vote updates, but also because the mix between the pure plan votes and lined votes is hurting my head.

Beyond that, do you guys have any questions?

Does the Jesuit Order forbid its members from directly participating in violence?

Just asking incase we have to bash someone's head in.

It is sinful to take another human life, but the Catholic Church did come up with the Just War Doctrine. Therefore, if it's in defense of your own life or on a case-by-case basis otherwise, it's allowed. However, it is still a sin. Therefore, you would have to participate in confession thereafter. Also, directly participating in conflicts tends to politicize the order so it's frowned upon unless it's against people who generally don't have any friends.

Essentially, if you decide to actually participate in combat directly, then there'd be some sort of Investigation into your conduct to make sure that it was justified. Of course, seeing as you're about to be let off the leash, so to speak, such an investigation would take a while to be implemented, but as a priest you would be expected to confess to it and thereby allow the investigation to take place because obviously you would have done it only would it be necessary.

Tl:dr, yes, but it's frowned upon and can get the higher-ups to look into you.

As far as the actual Jesuit order? I'm not entirely sure. I would say probably, but the Jesuit order is nothing if not a practical monastic order.

If I'd known you'd wanted to directly participate in conflict you could have just asked me, and I would have brought in the Sovereign military Order of Malta, at this point in time in the story still known as the Knights of st. John or the orders hospitaller.

Considering that the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits) are founded by former soldier named Ignatius of Loyola, and that their founding document makes explicit references to being Soldiers of God....I think it can be made to work. (Notably the Jesuits did take up arms to defend the native people of Paraguay from slavers in the 17th century)

Wait, I thought the Jesuits waved regular Spanish practice and allowed the natives to arm themselves in order to fend off those slavers.

Also because this gives me an excuse, I'm closing the votes. I'll get to counting.

Lordly butt-kicking won, and I would like to remind everyone that the votes will be done by line from now on.
