Seattle Road (Portal Travel, SI)

How I read the the WoG was that he has a range limit of atmosphere, therefore, just grab a spaceship. The reason why I think k this is bolded.
Norman also can't open his doorways if its too far from Earth. He can open doorways to another earth easy enough. But when he tried opening doorways into space in Chapter 2 it became harder and he reached a range limit. So he can't appear on an alien planet or on a space station above the earth. Space ships in orbit are right out.

Whilst true, A.) There's exceedingly few jumps that give out space ships for free. A-1) It would need to be a jump-doc provided space ship to ensure that it's spaceflight and "other" science works regardless of realities. A-1a.)Unless whatever is taken is so universal as to work without concern, much like the Johnny 5 S.A.I.N.T. gear.

And B.) The Underworld segment mentioned a size limit on his portals, to roughly the size of a half-size tanker train car. And just barely at that. Unless he can get a SG-Atlantis Puddle Jumper, then that would be a no go on Spaceships, unless he can go somewhere to gain an extra dimensional garage or similar that will follow him, and that he can use on spaceships.

So, Alt Earth's, and Jump Earth's are a hard limit until he can freebie a garage out of something. With which to transport vehicles to and from with him in the various worlds.

So literally the Destiny jump I posted earlier then. Gives you a a long rang ship small enough. He can go to every Destiny jump while he is at it. Some give different versions of the Light Perk and some give Ghosts

:wtf: :???: Destiny has personal FTL space ships that are only as wide as a half-sized tanker train car? AND the doc hands it out for free?

... Norman. Why are you waiting on getting it? I would assume that that would be a priority acquisition ASAP.

The only thing about that that I can see you not getting it, is that it mentions something about using a jumper's warehouse for storage in some manner. But it doesn't indicate that it couldn't be left out if you wanted to. Though I can totally understand not wanting to. So, all that would be needed is a garage freebie, and I know that there's several jumps that hands out garages for free, be it ground, air, water, or space.

{Edit} Oh wait... Destiny is that one weird place that has some extra-plainer being that's split in half arguing with itself, and doing bad shit TM to sapient creatures of the universe, isn't it? If that's the case, it might be an issue of "avoiding the gods" that Norman doesn't go there for a personal FTL space ship capable of slipping through his portal's max size.

To the first part, yes.

The second part I don't think so, And even if so, he was willing to go to Bloodborne so clearly, it's not that much of a problem lol.

Chapter 17

Not exact, but this is the artwork I was inspired by for Three Arm Cyborg.

Universe: Torus Earth
Location: Trailer home
Time: Morning

"Good morning in the late night!"

I stretched. Well actually I got a lot of good quality sleep first, then I woke up and went to the restroom to do my morning business there, and brushing my teeth. Then I go outside because I don't have enough room in the trailer to work out.

Turns out that, in the future, they have these VI programs whose only job was to make sure you worked out all the muscles. After uploading all my favorite workout videos of the VCR era I got a girl boss in black pants, tanned skin, a brown ponytail, purple muscle shirt, and pupil-less blue eyes. The appearance would change slightly every day at about the same speed at which hair grows and skin tans, but that was supposed to be below what the normal human was supposed to be able to perceive. So one day in the future I might realize that I was looking at a blond instead of a brunet.

"Welcome to Pandora's morning exercise routine. I hope you're ready to get your heart pumping. Okay Norman I'm going to need four pushups and let's keep that back straight. Got it, good. Here we go-"

The workouts were always slightly different, never routine, and took into account the activities I had done before. The smart watch that used to count your steps had evolved.

I also had a jungle gym. We had tires, and logs, and chains up on telephone poles. It was sized up for adults and people of a large stature. I used to love playing in the jungle gym at school as a kid and it was such a bummer that I had grown so large I couldn't fit into the thing anymore. Why I had never thought to build something like this for myself before I have no idea.

It was fun and sometimes I never wanted it to end.

But then I got hungry and had to go in to fix breakfast.

Here, the technology to improve one's heath continues. Since one's activities and calorie intake was so easy to calculate to the Nth degree, there was always a new suggestion that would fulfill your daily needs without going over your intake budget. Each suggestion would also take into account what ingredients you had on hand as well.
As someone with Gourmet Cells we were using the extreme end of the metabolism range. My workouts were good enough now that I was starting to have difficulty retaining weight. I actually liked going to the gym and having the power to do all these things. But the activity has a cost and I don't have a lifetime's worth of training like Toriko who knows how much he needs to eat to keep going on a daily basis.

Having a VI as a personal trainer sure helps.

The talk with Lain had gone well. That had been a week ago.

Lain had well adjusted to the idea that her entire universe was nothing more than a fictional story told on another Earth. Very well, in fact. Part of that was because she was a VI now and didn't have any glands. Part of that was because even in the far-flung future of Mass Effect they had Choose your Own Adventure stories and escapism in video games.

I had gone into a bit more detail about the differences between what I considered a Jumpchain and what I considered a World. Jumpchain worlds were like video games where even the Gods could be programed to have a plot, like when Zeus has a Jumpchain Protagonist for a kid. That was just on example.

Naturally we had fallen into talking about the rise and falls of civilization. Hers and my own. The Asari, Hannar, Krogan, and even my Vampire forms from Underworld, all had people that had lived long enough to see the newly laid foundations of a nation become dusty ruins nobody cares about anymore. Having one's planet destroyed by invading aliens sure does put things into perspective. In a galactic society that was sort of like looking at a town after it had been hit by a hurricane: lots of destruction but recoverable.

Apparently in our limited psychology, people who experienced that sort of thing never really get over it. It didn't matter if you were thousand year old Krogan or Asari. It didn't matter if it was a town that was lost to a hurricane or a planet to some slaving Salarian Pirates. The loss is always real and it always hurts.

It's supposed to be natural.

I was pretty sure that I was absolutely not looking forward to that.

Staying in Toriko's world for a few weeks to learn candy and, you know, interact with people, was the first real effort I made to be social able in weeks.

Apparently just because visiting Real Genius had removed any mental issues I might have had when I acquired the Perk: Straight A Student, that didn't mean that my previous life didn't weigh in.

Well I have done a pretty good job here by myself, alone.

Perhaps that was why I was uninterested in getting into the plots of the jumps and worlds I was finding? You can't be hurt if you don't care about these places. Not to form any attachments, not to help, just visiting and then leaving as soon as possible. Above all else these worlds were safe, excluding Bloodborne of course, and that was a bit of suicidal knee-jerking.

Maybe I should try dating again? That Julia girl at Truffles Candies was pretty cute.

Hmm.

The sun was up.

Universe: Overwatch Jump
Location: The Beach
Time: 2076.

Overwatch offered me two upgrades that I'd wanted. The first was the option to become an Omnic, and the second was a robot arm for a cyborg. I also had the option of integrating a pop out gadget somewhere as long as it made sense.

As for the arm, well, I had been expecting it to replace one of my arms.

I hadn't been expecting any true technological upgrades, since from what we had seen online in the Overwatch Jumpchain this earth had cyborg technology that wasn't much more advanced than what was freely available in the junkyard of Gunn. At least not in the cybernetics department.

What I had gotten was a slight fashion upgrade as my cyborg parts got the Overwatch treatment. I looked more like Cyborg 76. The joints connecting my fleshy parts together were now half orange and half white, looking more like sports gear I had put over my body, following my body's organic shape to promote the image of muscles, rather than looking as if some madman had hacked my body apart and stuck chunks of metal between the bits. My hands were steel colored with white coverings on the backside. My mechanical feet now looked like high tech running shoes for sports. I had a neck covering again too.

I also got the third arm. Installed. On. My. Back!

There was a backpack unit that bolted itself into my back. The third arm was nearly as big as my cyborg body was tall, was triple jointed, and had to hold itself off the ground like a backhoe. The hand was triple jointed with foot long fingers, with the thumb in the middle but folded off to the side and capable of switching to be either a left hand or right hand. The arm was orange, the joints and hand were black.

I also got a spiffy new suit to go with the updated look.

Naturally I'd scanned myself with the self-upgrading Omni-tool before and after the upgrade. There were a plethora of changes. Most were in the quality of the workmanship. My whole body's central weight and balance had been changed with the addition of the third arm. I was practically an entirely new model of cyborg. So it seemed to be all right.

Not as much of an extreme change as when I applied the Omnic to the Johnny 7 form. There were a few promotional pictures of Johnny 5 wearing different costumes from back in the day, one of them while wearing a Saint's robes and hat.

The Omnic upgrade had turned Johnny black with white armor with orange highlights similar to that look. It was futuristic, faster, stronger, smarter, and altogether showed what nearly a hundred years of technological development and a war could do. The liquid battery had been replaced with an all new Fusion power core. The third arm on the hip with the multitool attachment had more gadgets, including a hologram projector. The laser cannon over the left shoulder had been replaced by one that shot pulsed munitions of "compressed energy" similar to the guns used in this world, still in red colors, but far more powerful than the original, capable of taking on this world's military vehicle equivalent in one shot one kill.

The specialized vision that Johnny 5 had shown to use in the second movie to hunt down the bank robbers had been upgraded with Infrared Sight that could scan electromagnetic radiation to see people and Mechs through walls.

Altogether, if you can imagine a Null Trooper from the second Overwatch game being compressed into Johnny five's form, you come pretty close to what my Alternate Form Johnny 7 looked like now.

Universe: Torus earth
Location: Nova Robotics Laboratory
Time: Evening

"Lain, register new cyborg body as Three Arm Cyborg and log the changes," I was messing with my human-only Omni-tool as I came in. What detailed I "knew" about my new upgrades were sent in a file over to my Virtual Intelligence as I walked in, thankful for the new corporate-levels of filing and management skills I'd developed in the last few days and the Perk that made this sort of thing a breeze.

"Registered!" Lain chimed in. "Did you get anything good?"

"Plenty good," I replied, returning to my purely human form. "My Johnny 7 form got an upgrade too. It looks kind of like Johnny 7, but made with 2076 tech from Overwatch. I like the aesthetic of their technology too; primary white, secondary orange to burnt orange, tertiary black. How go things in the lab?"

"All the SAINT robots that could be built with 1980s technology have been assembled and turned into drones. The Cultivated Humans with the Standard Asari, Krogan, Andromeda, and Self-updating Omnitool are recycling your old computer tech. We couldn't use the Hanar Omni-tool. The operating system and software for the new computers should enable us to interact with a larger range of human technology in different universes. We have decent samples, and it's a lot easier to work with than thousand year old alien tech. The Saint robots should be finished assembling the Mass Effect fabricators by tomorrow and then we can begin printing out their replacements. But we're almost out of Element Zero."

I snorted. "You and everyone else in the Mass Effect universe."

In the Mass Effect Universe the people of Earth had only had access to Element Zero since 2148 when the colonies on Mars dug up the Promethean ruins. Earth had been destroyed by the Reapers in 2187 when Commander Shepard activated the Mars Super Weapon and changed the galaxy forever. The Sol system wasn't exactly drowning in the dark matter crystals.

I don't know what Shepard did either. But we haven't found any humans on future-JumpChain Earth.

Forty years wasn't enough time for Element Zero to become so common it could be found in a parts store. There weren't any large stockpiles. All we'd found were sesame seed-sized nodules installed into a few guns, medical devices, and flying cars. Only the super-rich and the military had the stuff. Omni-tools, for instance, needed a few dozen nodules to replicate all sorts of effects from dozens of directions in space all at once.

When we needed something I usually just took Lain's advice and used my power to 'locate' the items on her shopping list in the Mass Effect JumpChain, allowing us to appear nearby and loot it. One of these was a more capable fabricator similar to the ones put on the Nexus, the flagship of the Andromeda Initiative, which we had disassembled and brought over to my world. Otherwise, a large amount of the equipment we were using had come from a machine shop.

The fabricator the Saint robot's and my Cultivated Humans were working on was about to become one of the New Best simply because of how much Element Zero I was willing to be integrated into it.

"I'm going to do a download of the stuff I found in Overwatch," I warned.

Then I turned into my Johnny 7 form, and then I turned into my new Overwatch Johnny 7 form, and then proceeded to use my communications dish to download a vast treasure trove of data that highlighted the trends of eighty years of technological progress and what would be needed to establish an internet connection in that world.

Interestingly enough, once computers had become capable of meeting a Demand the urge to build the next newest and better core processor slowed down a bit. They were kinda like shoes now.

"Sorry, but I don't think it's going to get any better. There just aren't any large deposits of Element Zero on that Earth," I said in my robot voice as I started my download. "Thankfully, Overwatch has most of the same technology and accomplishes most of the same effects without Element Zero. They have barriers, holograms, and levitation, so we should be able to make a kind of Omni-tool and a Mass Effect field without it. We'll have to hack into a few warehouses and computers to get what we need."

"Alternatives are good, but more Element Zero would be better," Lain chimed with a smile. "I have a target if you're interested."

"Give me a few minutes to download this and allow me to turn back into my human form. Are you getting good scans of this robot?" I asked.

Lain nodded, "I'm logging the differences, don't worry. It's certainly nice looking, at least, even if it is still a military machine."

"I'm sure we'll have a few different kinds by the time we're done with them." I waited for the download to finish.
When it was over I returned to my new Three Arm Cyborg form. I took a seat in the chair that was coming to look like Robocop's resting station. I sat with my elbows on my knees, brooding, but unable to sit back with the third arm in place. Two SAINT robots came over to start modifying the back of the chair and to see if the third arm could be unbolted from my body like a normal attachment.

This was going to be an all-day thing.

I needed a new chair.

In the meantime Devices scanned my body for any differences while I relaxed. An internet connection was made available for me to practice on, so I logged in.

Logging in while a cyborg was different from being a robot.

"So what does our target look like?" I connected with my VI assistant and lent her the assistance of my Budgets, Spreadsheets, and Plans perk to balance the schedule.

I still can't believe I can do this.

"Here we are," Lain brought up the image of a harbor, taken by a drone not equipped with element zero tech and pumped to our location by radio and the semi-permanent doorway I'd left in the Mass Effect JumpChain world.

Our connection was a mass of cables going through a clear plastic plug, with computers on this side connected to computers on the other side, with the Doorway closed down tight onto the plug. Nothing can get in or out. Lain controlled robots on that side too. None of the power was available on that side so we had to provide electricity as well. The flying drones had their own charging station.

The image Lain brought up was of a specific container ship in the harbor.

The ship was appropriate large for a vessel of the future and capable of loading and unloading its own cargo. The ship made use of Element Zero drones instead of cranes that would lift the container boxes off the ship and place them somewhere in the harbor yard. While plenty useful, the ship was docked at shore and looked like it would need a lot of work to launch.

"The ship uses a fusion powered engine, so we'll have plenty of power for our startup," Lain explained out loud. "So long as there's deuterium in the sea it requires no fuel. It's a hundred trillion credits worth of machinery, cargo and ship. Everything from cars and robots to entertainment devices, all set to go," Lain looked proud of herself. "Do you think you can manage opening a doorway for it?"

I frowned. "Creating the portals up to the size of an underpass requires no energy on my part as far as I know. It takes time, but I can move them by hand if I need too, but it's slow. Growing them, rather than shrinking them to fit into a tight place, on the other hand, is not something I've done before. Everything I have in my head says that it should work out all right, but it'll probably take a long time to set up."

"Well it's either this or put in a permanent Doorway to start a mine on Mass Effect Jumpchain Earth," Lain reminded me. "According to the computers that I was able to power up and records I was able to get this ship had a cargo of Element Zero on it ready to go. So long as we aren't mining we need resources, and this ship has plenty. If you can open a doorway that big we won't have to worry about materials for a while."

I nodded in all the right places. She was right after all. "Do you think you can launch the ship? Once it's adrift at sea we either have to guide it to the doorway or abandoned it to the rocks. Things can go wrong pretty fast, and we won't have any tugs to help us get out to sea."

"Pfft!" Lain snorted. "Please, once I'm plugged into the thing that's all we need. These ships can launch themselves. We can even remote control the tugs. Now that I'm a Vi-"

"Machine Spirit."

"-Machine Spirit it'll be literal child's play. We're not criminals and there aren't any police. We can do what we want. All you have to do is but widen the doorway."

I nodded again. "Alright, I'll give it my best shot. But it's going to take days to decontaminate that ship."

Lain smiled, "Hardsuit training?"

I nodded, "Hardsuit training."

Universe: Mass Effect Jumpchain
Location: Unnamed Harbor
Time: After the Reapers.

"Intruder, alert! Intruder, alert! Intruder, alert!"

"Are you sure we have to do this?" I asked for the last time.

It was unfortunate that the ship's main brain wasn't allowing us to get away with grand theft auto. In Mass Effect they had some pretty amazing technology and the software to steer the ship through earth's oceans. Resetting the VI would also erase a well-trained VI, its experience on the open ocean.

Unfortunately it had sounded the alarm to a police force that didn't exist and it hadn't stopped since I started exploring the place.

I was in my Mass Effect Hardsuit so I didn't hear the alarms very well.

But I also didn't want to hear the VI deny me access for the umpteenth time just because I wasn't a registered corporate employee.

I wanted this ship and I wanted the cargo.

"Positive," Lain announced from the Omni-tool on my arm. "At this point it's the final step. I have access to everything else."

Sighing, I tapped into the Omni-tool to input the proper commands. The E-WAR suit went to work and the VI in charge was reset back to basic. The old man with the white disapproving mustache disappeared in glitches. All of everything it had learned was now gone.

About a minute later everything on the ship powered itself back up.

The VI that appeared before me was of a tall young lady in a ship's captain outfit, saluting smartly in her dress whites, "Freight Waves Virtual Intelligence Sailor Gal reporting for duty, sir!"

"Great. Now take this file and update yourself on new orders, new owner, affiliations and registrations. And let's get this ship ready to sail."

"Downloading. Yes sir, Owner Norman Seattle, Sir!"

-000-

It took a few days to fill the ship with ammonia and saturate it to the point I felt comfortable moving it to another world. The process had been about as easy as looking up, "When did earth have an ammonia atmosphere? Answer: 4 billion years ago," and letting the corrosive gas through into this world with four portals above/inside the ship. Rats and other vermin had been very quick to escape a very painful death by jumping off but not quick enough.

Fortunately Sailor Gal had pest control robots and cleaning robots that took care of the bodies now that they were out of their hiding places.

Using a hard suit from Mass Effect was an experience. It was like being an astronaut. I had practiced a bit at the bottom of a lake and I'd walked through the poison gas without a care in the world. The life support functions were so good that I could pretend I didn't have a mask on at all. Using the jump jets to bounce around the ship was fun.

In that time I explored the ship and Lain and Sailor Gal taught me what I needed to do to get the ship off the dock and out to sea.

Straight A Student for the win!

While we were at work getting ready for that we were also getting what we could out of the Overwatch Jump and what technology they could provide for us out of their internet. It was good, very good in fact.

We had Omnics and other robotic technology, fission and fusion power, levitation, holograms, advanced prosthetics, large scale terraforming, pulse munitions, identity friend and foe tracking for bullets that basically turned them into missiles with your name on them, infared sight, nanomachine healing, power armor, Mechs, vehicles, Tobelstein Reactors which for certain reasons I'm going to be calling Grav-bombs, space flight, hard light, teleportation, cryostasis, and a host of civilian and military products I couldn't even name them all yet.

I mean, these people had cybernetic arms that allowed you to shape coffee foam into black and white dog's faces, hot and ready to serve. I wanted copies of that tech.

The world was filled with battlefields full of lost and broken technology and I had chances to grab samples. For now we were avoiding picking up the robot bodies of those who fought in the war. Just in case there was some sort of AI virus, you understand.

The latest and greatest defense programs were something that Lain and I were both very interested in.

Now, it wasn't like I could sneak into a highly guarded industrial facility in Overwatch. That would be stupid. Like, reading a book while driving in rush hour traffic, stupid. I wasn't some super hacker like Sombra.

There were simply too many cameras where people were to make visiting a city or a road very easy. Their focus was on every door and window and every face in the crowd. Even super amazing cameras in the satellites in the sky pointed directly at the ground were making things difficult for me.

So I stopped trying.

Fortunately I still retained the ability to open Doorways in some very tight spaces. Such as underneath a car, or a chair, or a table, and even inside the casing of the supercomputer running a factory!

As long as we could sneak a wire into a junction box we had access.

Access to what you might ask?

Well, for one the shipping manifests in a warehouse and the cameras that watched them get loaded up with the latest items on the market. The moment those doors closed and the truck got ready to take off with its load I was all set to open a doorway at the other end of the shipping container. Once open we had an army of Cultivated Humans to unload the trailer from front to back.

Naturally we put back everything we didn't want or need. Medical equipment was usually left alone unless it was shipped in bulk and there was the opportunity to get one item out of six. The rest would be left behind for the hospitals and the people that needed them.

I would never steal something that would kill anyone from not having it.

The all new Harbor Master City we were planning to build in the Gulf of Mexico would not employ Element Zero technology if we could help it.

In fact we would make it a point of pride not to use magical space rocks in our technology if we could avoid it. We were lucky that the stuff hadn't burned into ash as soon as it was in this universe. There was no guarantee with that stuff.

With a lot of tweaking we might be able to get Overwatch Levitation tech to get to the point where it could do the same things as a Mass effect field. Mass Effect fields weren't just for making things lighter or heavier when needed. You could actually speed up your computers a bit if you could change the inertia of a few atoms. They were also good at turning atoms into new atoms in a fusion reactor. Overwatch had barriers that could force atoms to fuse if we could upgrade them with Mass Effect technology.

Creating my own supercollider was not on my list of things to do. I wasn't a nuclear physicist.

Yet.

But I did know of a place to pick up the Skill Tags I needed.

Chapter 18

Universe: Mass Effect Jump
Location: The coast
Time: After the Reapers went away

"Well, this is annoying."

I looked out from my little spot in the ocean among the waves towards where the Freight Waves was cruising in a holding pattern without me, AKA the container ship, AKA my first pirated vessel, AKA also my new Virtual Assistant the newly rebooted Sailor Gall as she calmly guided our small fleet across the ocean regardless of how many maritime laws we were actively and unintentionally breaking, and decided that anyone trying to keep to a schedule while traveling the multiverse needed to take a class on all the things that could go wrong.

I had originally started off this enterprise by upgrading my own industrial capacity so I could make a pair of special guns and it had become a very enjoyable week-long tangent.

I had gotten the ship in Mass Effect long after the Reapers had had their way with Earth and Commander Shepard had activated the Mars Superweapon. It was also where I had acquired a Virtual Assistant modeled after a person who had uploaded their mind into a Mass Effect computer complete with parts of their soul and enough fragments to live on after her entire world had died. Now we were guiding ships out to sea because their cargos had everything we needed to start a one man and one virtual assistant industrial startup on another world.

My Doorways had certainly been getting a workout this week. There were so many places to visit, so much to do. The computers I had at home were being recycled to make new Mass Effect computers. I wanted my own server farm, and I wanted copies of the internet. Not just the one I was familiar with. I also wanted copies of things that got deleted from media and was never seen again.

Now that I had a VI and Omni-tools equipped with salvaged hacking tools I had switched from using someone else's internet to plugging into server farms so I could make copies.

I absolutely HATED it when a TV show I wanted to watch or a fan fiction I liked became lost media.

I had another doorway going from Torus Earth to the Hub World. The Hub world in turn had a doorway going to a Mundane Earth, the Mass Effect Jumpchain, and Overwatch, respectively.

It had taken about a week to fill the container ship and a few other vessels with ammonia from the poisonous atmosphere from an Earth from 4 billion years ago. That was yet another couple doorways I had active that I couldn't use.

Then we had to get the container ship out of the blasted dock. Thankfully there were so many safety systems that manual overrides were still a thing. Once the cleats had opened up it was a simple matter of taking the loop of the anchor ropes off and letting Ship Gal reel them in.

Oh! Mass Effect didn't have cables or chains, exactly. They had this carbon fiber woven ribbon-thing that was an inch thick and a foot wide. They called it a 'rope' since it wasn't a metal chain and it looked like one of those new types of flexible garden hose. They used this stuff to lift ships out of the water and I didn't dare try and cut it.

Getting the ship out of the harbor was also a pain. We had to go at high tide and back the ship out of its slip with our own engines and no mechanical assistance from shore. I ended up using Lain and hacking into half a dozen tug boats and another dozen ships that were floating around in our way. We ended up taking control of two more cargo ships, a rich man's yacht, a hospital ship, two car farriers, and three fishing ships. Some of the ships in the harbor were half-sunk and damaged, so we pushed those out of the way to the best of our abilities without destroying my ships.

Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship operations we were not, but we managed to get all the ship VI to move like a swarm of drones to the same operator, out of the harbor during good weather, without crashing into anything important and a bunch of other 'and's' while heading for the right direction.

For my part, once we no longer needed the doorway to Ancient Ammonia Atmosphere Earth from four billion years ago I shut that down those doorways and started working on creating a super-large Doorway into Torus Earth.

I had returned to the One Piece Jump a half dozen times to get the various alternate forms I could have gotten had I known what I know now. My Alternate Forms list now included Sky People, Dwarfs, and included Mermaids but not mermen.

Stupid Jump Chan.

I had opened up a doorway to the middle of the ocean a good distance from the docks, turned into my new female form with the fishy tail and gone for a dip.

The choppy water that would have been a good indicator of a storm on the horizon and an endless source of concern for seagoing men throughout the history of sailing had instantly been transformed into my new playground. The depth of the ocean which could contain numerous terrors had become of no concern at all, like the sky. The thunder echoing across the ocean had become noise. Likewise the fear of drowning or my stress levels with swimming in the open ocean, it just wasn't there anymore.

Mermaids were interesting as they started out as smaller than a human child and grew larger as they age up until they were larger than most sea creatures you can name that are neither a monster nor a dinosaur. They were the fastest swimmers in the Grand Line except for Sea Kings and could go all the way down to the bottom of the sea without any problems at all. They had a tail, and over the age of thirty could split that tail to make two legs.

A roll of the dice to determine my age had me as a rather large girl whose waste is larger than most fat men you can name, while having the upper body of a Barbie doll and the lower half of a sea serpent the length of a school buss. I now had a chest, but . . . sigh.

They were better than what most strippers had to deal with. They were large, round, firm, full, bouncy, with upturned nipples, perfectly positioned and without a single stretch mark. They started almost at my neck line. You could see the outline of my last three ribs.

"These aren't breasts these are tanks. If I ever show up in front of some real sailor men they're going to bust their trunks," I gave myself a poke, "And I'm not even the bustiest mermaid in One Piece." I wasn't sure if I was annoyed or relived about that.

Lain spoke through my ears, "You can say that again. At least in the water you don't get any sag. I'll have the fabricators make something for when you want to speak to the locals without having all of their blood all go to their second head."

"No, we wouldn't want that," I smirked with an impish grin. "Just most of their blood is fine."

To speak in the open air Lain had arranged to hack into and communicate directly with the Sub-Dermal Translator Implants that had been offered for free for everyone from Mass Effect. Since even the fiat-backed Omni-tools weren't able to grow to my ship-sized-self this was the easiest way for us to communicate without making a giant ear peace.

"Something in green please, and with pearls if you can swing it," I said as I found my fish tail under me and started treading water. "I think I'll call my Mermaid form Marina, after the Saban's The Little Mermaid TV show."

"Good choice."

"And get me some jewelry please. I suddenly have the strangest urge for shiny things. I think I want to get my ears pierced too, because this girl needs some shells. Do you think you could rig something up that can do that?"

"Shouldn't be a problem."

"Thank you!"

Humming and enjoying being naked in the open ocean, I concentrated on growing the doorway between the wet water world of Mass Effect JumpChain and the Gulf of Mexico in my Torus Earth.

It should have been a piece of sushi. Open the doorways at more or less the same heights of both oceans, synchronize the high and low tides, avoid being pulled through by the undertow, hold onto the doorway and pull it wider over the next few hours, taking breaks in-between efforts, hunt up some lunch to see what eating fish in this form would be like during lunchtime . . .

?

You know, the usual!

And it worked. Sort of.

The last time I had tried to modify a Doorway was about ten days ago when I had invaded the mansion in 2004 in Bloodrayne JumpChain. I had popped up between the bushes of the parking lot and then used physical force to drag the doorway into the parking lot and widen it even while in the presence of eyes that could see what I was doing. It was physically exhausting, but I had gotten it done. Even had to take a moment to catch my breath when I was done.

In Mass Effect the JumpChain after the Reaper invasion and all the humans had disappeared I was in the same position as being on a near-empty earth. Some of the surveillance systems were still up and running but there weren't any sentient peoples to see what I was doing. The earth was practically empty. Practically, mostly empty.
Mostly, being not completely.

Dolphins, whales, and cephalopods that had become curious about why all the humans were gone had followed the noises made as Ship Gal and the fleet got out of the harbor.

"Play!" the dolphins spoke as they jumped around into and out of the new doorway I'd made. "You're huge!"

The humpback whales had followed. "New friends? New hunting grounds!? Water taste better over here!" the locals hummed in the depth of the ocean to their cousins on the other side of the doorway.

And of course Mermaids from One Piece could understand ocean creatures.

A thing I hadn't calculated for was that on Torus Earth the fish and game were un-hunted, un-fished, and un-afraid to be curious about new activities. So there was now, basically, a fish party going on.

The fish (and all the other creatures of the sea) on Torus Earth were staying well away from the doorway because the water tasted funny and funny tasting things usually meant bad water. But the oceans were so full of pods of whales and dolphins that it was sort of crowded and that wasn't stopping the kids from coming over and taking a look.

I had placed a barrier over the Doorway to keep germs and parasites from getting into the Torus Earth and that was going to help. But I was still watching dolphins jump through the barrier and back again once they had figured out they could go right through it.

I sighed as I stopped what I was doing to pet the dolphins who had decided that I was a Big Mama.

I lay back in the ocean and the little guys would circle around my tail playing games. I patted their heads, completely unafraid of me, listening to them chirp and gurgle. Big as I am it was like petting cute cats without any fur.

Some were more afraid than others and would stay away. But there were a few that would come right up to me. And they would come for a kiss or to rub up against my body.

At this point I was like, you know what? Fine!

So I'd splash my tail and lead the dolphins in a race around my Doorway jumping up out of the water and back in again for a few minutes.

And that was fun.

"Are you done playing with the mammals yet?" Lain asked once I had completed another lap.

"Just about," I took a few deep breaths, uncaring that my lungs or gills were half full of water and air and filling my mouth with foam like some uncouth crab. "The doorway is more than wide enough and it's deep enough. Can you check to see if it's high enough?"

The mix of actual drones we had working for us flew around the doorway I'd made. It was so large that the local waters and weather on both sides were being affected a bit. The hot and cold air coming from both sides was parting the storm clouds in the Mass Effect Jumpchain high above us and while I was no longer scared out of my mind to be in the ocean surrounded by creatures new and stranger I was a bit worried about possibly making a water twister right on top of us.

"Its fine," Lain reported back. "I'll have the Ship Girl VI bring the ships through."

"I'll go and warn my fishy friends," I dove underneath the water into the Mass Effect side of the doorway. "Hey guys! Ships coming through! Get to the doorway! This is your last chance to get out!"

Some of the dolphins went through the doorway immediately. I had to get around a humpback that didn't want to move and push him out of the way. The poor guy was blind in one eye.

Then the ships came. Each was going just over ten knots, all lined up in an angled row so they were out of the wake of the other. The first ones through were the rich man's yachts, still stinking of ammonia, followed by the three fishing vessels, the hospital ship, a few tow boats that had the power and speed to make it out here, and finally the Freight Wave had come through.

I went following in after it.

The hard part was closing the Doorway.

Not because I couldn't make it shut, or it took extra effort. No. It was hard because there were still dolphins and whales back on Mass Effect JumpChain and none of them were coming over to this side.

"Too crowded," some of them had remarked back to me.

So the exchange that happened was left as it is and I slowly closed the door.

One small baby turtle was the last guy through.

Universe: Torus Earth
Location: Gulf of Mexico
Time: Late at night

Working underwater sure feels different when you're the size of a whale and you don't care about temperature, pressure, or drowning.

We'd managed to maneuver the ships through the packs of whale pods that patrolled the Gulf of Mexico, nice and slow, so we didn't run any over and, as far as I could tell, hadn't chopped them up with the propellers.

That wasn't as easy as it sounds. Out of fear for my fellow mammals I had to circle the fleet constantly keeping the curious dolphins away all day!

I am so exhausted!

Then we'd parked the ships off shore. It had taken time to position the anchors up and down the gulf, we'd gotten it done, all the ships had an anchor and a length of line fore and aft keeping them between two points.

Sailor Gal was using the Freight Wave's cargo unloading drones to place her containers on the shore between the trees. We could also use the same drones to move items to the other ships. We didn't exactly have full documentation but the contents of the shipping containers could be moved after they'd been cracked open.

It was a bit like opening presents.

I'd also run a cable from Freight Wave to shore so that we'd have power. It was really, really heavy!

I had to use my telekinesis to lift up the biggest rock I've ever moved to pin the end on shore between another rock so it wouldn't slide back into the sea.

What a pain in the ass!

But we had power. We had a Nexus Fabricator set up that could eat steel and plastic and glass to make more parts. And the Saint robots were gradually making more of themselves.

Once that was set up I went home to take a nap.

I wonder if other being that were hunted to extinction by humans could be brought bach from other earths like Pasenger Pidgeons, Great Oaks, or tasmanian tigers.

I already mentioned the jump for Harry Potter and the Method of Rationality before, I think we are good for Wizarding .
Tho This Bites! on the SB drive helps a lot with sailing.

He should jump to the generic Harry Potter fan fiction jump because It gives a local version of magic, Go to a Crossover Fanfic and get local version of magic for free this way. This also lets you go to Star Wars because of all the Harry Potter Star Wars fan fiction. And that's where you can get pretty good computing technology(lightspeed computing for the droid Tri-starfighters in Revenge of the Sith) and the Force which has ways a few ways to gain more powerful in Legends(with decently high tiers of power) some of those ways to get more powerful in the force that are practical are to do what the Sith Inquisitor did in SWTOR, binding force ghosts to yourself for power another way is absorbing force nexuses of the power they hold those are the easier methods I can think of 9nnthe spot, the harder ones locating artifacts which increase your power (a named one is the Scepter of Ragnos, another way is to find out what Vitiate did to get more powerful and immortality and copy him but that last one is gonna be especially difficult.

gives a free wand and harry potter magic

When I get done with my cyborg run I'll probably do a Magic run.

Harry Potter is kind of a nonsense magic system. Generic Magic Academy would allow me to go to other worlds with magic so long as it has some kind of school and learn it. The Elder Scrolls, Practical Magic, The Enchanted Forest and the Witches of Eastwick are on the list since they each give nearly the same free perks but the wording is vastly different.

Arcane Arts, Magic, Spark of magic, That Chill Day-To-Day magic, Witchcraft, You're a Wizard, Local Magic, etc.

They all allow you to generate and use magic somehow, give you the magical education of a mage, turn you into a wizard, give you the gift of potion making, and give you some spells. You can even have children and grant the gift to others or teach other people what you learn. The "your a wizard" seems to give you harry potter magic, make you durable enough to take an iron ball in the stomach, and cure mundane illnesses and injuries and poisons so long as they were not caused by magic.

The General Item given for free is usually a Wand, but it can also be a Focus, such as a wand or a staff or a cane. In Harry Potter it's a necessary item to cast magic unless you buy wandless casting, and I got no points to spend. But in other setting like TES Jump it's just a set of training wheels. In the Wizard Jump the wand will go from a mundane stick to growing in power as you do. Still nice to have.

Other than those there's also Law of Ueki that gives you the very small, but everyone has it, perk to turn one item into another mundane item. Such as toothpicks into telephone poles, or trash into fireballs, or a bottle of water into gasoline. You get two of these. It's kind of like alchemy, but very limited.

Dresden let's you be a practitioner for free, but it's not really worth it.

But what do you want for free?

the jumpchain i posted lets you fic harry potter fanfics and crossovers say harry potter and star wars so magic is the force and can be used as either magic or the force so many fanfics out there and crossovers to pick from

Here is an an infinite willpower perk it also has another nifty benefit.

For magic... well i already listed 8t all I think. There might be one for Marvel Magic (mystic arts in particular) which has some crazy stuff in it but anyone in setting can use it iirc. Plus if you go arive forwards in time study empowering methods (such as eating the heart of a Dragon... i think or it might have been punching it) then portal and go back in time and use the emporment methods. Keep in mind with Nasuverse magic you can make yourself a new body and with The Force you can use Essence Transfer to more your soul over. So you can get designer bodies and powers. That's not including any other type of magic Or technology, either.

The chatting with sea life as a mermaid would suck if he wanted to actually eat seafood. You never eat anything that talks or that you can understand.

Make sure you never use that form around any crabs or shrimp!

Oddly, I think that he'd find dating Julia more rewarding than all the tech looting. Then again, I like the tech and supplies and such. He has two pretty good techs. Now, he needs something like the No Man's Sky, Space Engineers, or one of those other mining survival games. They usually at least start you off with a base builder device. I can see several of them as beyond even the tech that he just created.

Looks like it is almost time for him to visit Star Trek Next Generation or STO. It wouldn't even be about grabbing entire ship specs. As long as he could download replicator tech, their version of fusion, and some computer specs, he'd come out ahead. All of that should be general public domain there.

I would not go to Star Trek, I worry to mutch about the entities there, they have Lots of ability to mess with the physical domain.

But what do you want for free?
*second edit at the bottom *
*Edit* I am/was really tired when I wrote this. Please throw away or use as much of this as you want Even In abstract I'm just trying to help out.

Did someone mention going Naruto (probably via a fanfic jump) And portaling to the god tree and taking a Chakra fruit? Also, You don't need to worry about going to places with Time travelers (Marvel, DC, World of Darkness, ect.) because there is the quantum break jump and its freebies.
Anyways, that should protect you from that.

Places I want to see you visit would be...
DC verses for the Nth metal, perks, and the Green and Blue Lantern Ringsbecause they are such good multi tools. For example You have your rings, You go to the Marvel Cinematic universe Phase 2 jump, With your anti surveillance perk from Ghostrunner you don't have to worry about the people from the loki show even without a Benefactor. Use your Green Lantern Ring to scan the entire planet For unknown materials. Boom, you've located all Super Materials on the planet. Go take the Vibranium from Klau The guy who stole it from Wakanda. Now Here's the part where Different people might choose differently. Some versions of Wakabda are more willing to hand the stuff out then others in the comics. You could travel to a version where they are more relaxed. And offer them a deal Some of this Vibranium for some of their Vibranium To discover the differences. Of course, you've probably also won research notes and uses for both. So getting another option is to say fuck it, And have your Ring take all the information relevant to it from MCU Wakanda. While your at it, you could get the cure for cancer too since they supposedly Have that and other medical miracles, stuff you can trade is always useful. Anyways from there You should probably repeat the process over and over again on Marvel and keep on collecting samples of unlimited materials. When you're done. Then you can go to...

Destiny. I think you also get gear with some of the jumps there, But yeah one of the Vanguard Leaders was just average but through dedication, experience and training they became exceptional enough to become leader of the Warlocks. That was powerful enough in a canon alternative timeline to glass the surface of Mars In 1 all out attack. Now for the main reason why. Go to the Golden Age (via your portals or Quantom Break jump bs)these guys were Smart. Plus no major threats for a while if you arive early enough. Have them make you custom gear After studying all the materials you brought over from Marvel (and DC if you did that). Bonus points if you went out to space to grab Uru you could trade Vibranium or adamantium or worst comes to worst proto adamantium which you can get from scanning comic book Captain America's shield before it gets the Uru mixed in making it even stronger. Anyways I am rambling due to staying up to long. Light infused super power armor, just make sure you know how to make more of it, and how to customize it for yourself so when you get more Magic in the future you can still modify/ enchant it. And upgrades for your companion(s) Lain can get an Exo body, you get a upgrade by having a Ghost Companion who also can get upgrades.

*Edit 2* Make sure to grab a splicer Gauntlet too. You might have to use time powers to go forward in timeline to grab some but definitely worth. Fiat backing it and the other op stuff from Destiny should be possible with the NoManSky jump. Here is lore for Guardian bs with the splicers Gauntlet just use the find feature on chrome or whatever and type "splic" link
