@Alivaril is the kind of vote above allowed?

So, I don't like Plan Kitty, and this is largely for two reasons. First, that a major consideration in people voting for this is to put cat ears on Qaylor's head, which is... Well. I go around wearing cat ears myself for fun, but putting them on a fictional teenage girl just for kicks feels a bit too fetishy for my comfort. Secondly, this vote includes Save Scumming, which I feel injects unnecessary seriousness into the quest. Taylor isn't really a light-hearted person, and I don't anticipate her input making the quest any more fun. It has also been pointed out earlier that much of the appeal of the earlier version of this quest is QA's general well-meaning insanity.

I am rather indifferent to Plan Teleporting Dragon. I think dragons are overrated, personally, but I don't have strong feelings about that vote.

Calling it a major consideration seems kinda wrong (at least for me).

As for fetishy: I don't see it.
If we take it that seriosly, we will be forced to consider the horror of what is happening to Taylor anyways. I mean the idea of some alien driving her body around and doing whatever It wants, is not pretty.

I see the possible Cat-Ear idea as a possible theme, kinda like Schrödinger from Hellsing.

Overall the Kitty-Plan features the things (e.g. possibilities) I think would be fun.

"Plan Teleporting Dragon" would be my second choice.
The idea of cute little horror "friends" just doesn't appeal to me.

Ok then. Because I really like the idea of QA as a power copier, and we should be able to get all the powers in Teleporting Dragon and more after a bit of ramp up..

[X] Plan Hat Wearing Abominations

EDIT: I admit, I was also influenced by re-reading Splintered and realising how much pride QA takes in her little friends. And apparently that cycle where she Escalated a competition between herself and Nilbog's shard in who could make friends better. She won. Clockblocker's shard is still traumatised.

EDIT2: Found relevant quotes!
That had pretty much the opposite effect on me, it's already been done why repeat it?

Because it was done in a previous cycle and we didn't get to see the details. Also, I like to see more of QA's adorable enthusiasm, plus all the other shards panicking over Friendbombing 2.0

I was going to create a new plan maximizing the total amount of hats worn, guaranteed to completely sweep the field and set up a bandwagon the likes of which people have probably seen before, but then we had the soft vote call. Sigh. Oh, what could have been.

-[X] Fedorable (-1 Points)
-[X] Form Control (-2 Points]
-[X] "Friend" Bio-Tinker Specialty (-2 Points)

This has more hats than the other plans, and is therefore superior.

The Cat ears thing was a suggestion, its not actually a part of the plan.
Also I'm not sure why you automatically assume it's a fetish thing, it was mostly because I found it amusing as something Taylor would never do.
I'm not even really into Catgirls.

As for Taylor not being fun, there's a reason Comedy shows always have a straight man.

Calling it a major consideration seems kinda wrong (at least for me).

Okay, it was probably unfair to call a comment which stuck out to me a 'major consideration'. That said, when I looked back through the thread, aside from the initial discussion of the powerset, most of the comments I found were about liking cats or the cat-ears comment, so I think you can see how I came to that conclusion.

And yes, annoyingly, in Japanese media, where cat-ears most commonly appear, the attempt is to appeal to a fetish. If you don't draw that association, great! That level of cuteness has not been ruined for you, and you can enjoy it without issue. I, however, would make that association and enjoy it less. (This is basically only on high-school aged girls, by the by. I wouldn't make that association with kids or boys).

I'd argue that having a semi- or fully-conscious Taylor is more likely to bring the body horror to the fore than her remaining asleep and basically forgotten.

The idea of cute little horror "friends" just doesn't appeal to me.
That seems a bit at odds with your username, but I get it. Honestly, when I made my plan, I wasn't originally going to have us making "friends". It doesn't break the deal for me, obviously, but it wasn't my goal, either. I was just optimizing for a diverse power-set, and this is what it ended up looking like the best option to me.

See, I wasn't really liking the most popular plans. While I know teleportation and stealth and all that are quite good powers, I felt most of the current sets weren't flexible enough for my tastes. I tend to prefer broad power-sets with growth potential over focused, static power-sets. That's a personal preference, I know. But I really do hate being stuck in a scenario, and not having the right tools for the job. It's why I tend to play casters and skill-monkeys in RPGs. So I set out to build something I felt had the growth potential and variety I wanted.

Originally, I was planning on sinking three points into Fedorable and Fashion, with maybe Form Change and/or C-BT to fill in the rest of the set. Hell, I had a name I liked all lined up ("Sharp Dressed Shard"). But then I realized that Form Change and having outfits might cause issues (without expanding clothing, that is), and the synergy between Form Change and Borrowed Features struck me as a better way to get what I wanted than Fashion. The more I considered it, the more it seemed to work, so I rolled with it. The swarms of empowered "friends" are just a bonus to giving us shapes with the tools to accomplish our goals, and are yet another tool for solving problems, as I see it.

Plus, I'm a sucker for shapeshifting. I had a tendency to transform into a hydra and rip things to pieces in D&D. It's a handy trick to have, and it can be rather fun to use, in my experience. Being able to make our own options makes it better. Hence why I added the "Friends" power, as well as Borrowed Features.

So yeah, that's how I developed the plan, and how I see it working. I've made some of these points/mentioned bits of this in scattered posts, but I don't think I've really outlined my full thought process. Thought it might interest people.

In any case, I don't think I've really outlined my problems with the other plans, beyond very vague terms.

Frankly, I find that Plan Kitty is just way too over-invested and focused on making the teleportation power work. While I know being able to tap into the senses of others or override them is also useful for other things, the purpose is quite clearly to compensate for the fact that they went with the debuffed version of C-BT. And they even debuffed those compensations, making them able to target only a few targets, just to squeeze in more powers.

The more expensive version of their main focus power would allow them to teleport, just not within the line-of-sight of hosts. Not a hugely significant downside, in my opinion: teleportation is usually done to break line-of-sight in combat, and hosts aren't super thick on the ground. The expensive version could also compensate by teleporting behind the target, if we wanted to use it get close. And it would be cheaper than getting both Read and Write Access to the Senses, I believe. Plus, it still benefits from Access, and the limit on number of targets is a lot less crippling when you have fewer people who you can't let see you teleport.

The issues with Save Scumming have been covered quite well already, so I won't get into it. I will note that most of my exposure to Worm has been second-hand, and I thus don't have much attachment to Taylor. Take from that what you will.

However, I don't think I've seen anyone cover Mike Drop. What does this power get us, beyond perhaps the ability to have a ten-second head-start when running away? Being within the target's sight breaks the effect. Maybe it might let us get the drop on people in fights, I guess? Make them forget us, then jump into their blindspot, or just use it to help disengage. But long-distance teleportation is about as effective at the disengaging, and the blindspot thing seems like a fairly minor benefit. I dunno, I just don't get the appeal, really.

Teleporting Dragon is better, IMO. It has the not-debuffed C-BT, which if you're going to go that route, is a better option than compensating with Sense Access. And Form Change is not something I disagree with having. That said, it does have Mic Drop. And it's not quite as full of synergies as I would like. Still, it was what pointed me towards Form Change in the first place, so thanks for that, @Kai Merah. Your reminder of the joys of shapeshifting lead me to explore a path I might not have, otherwise, and my vote wouldn't be anywhere as strong without it.

I'll still note that Friends that can Wear Hats and Borrow Powers can replicate anything in either powerset. We'll be a sufficiently powerful tinker to effectively ignore the infrastructural requirements, and the combination of Hats and Borrowed Powers will make our Friends high-power master generalists. If you want to teleport, Hat Abominations is the way to go. If you want to be a dragon, Hat Abominations is the way to go. If you want to do anything, Hat Abominations is the way to go.

Could one of the twenty people that's voting for "dragon" please explain why? As far as I can tell the rationale is "lol memes", which is a shitty argument.

I'm Eliminating Plan Kitty due to the others having an insurmountable lead, even including multi-votes. You'll probably want to switch to one of the following plans.
