The Land of the Mythic Sun

Lop

Location
Chicago

Oda Motoyori has done what no lord has done before; he has built a mighty gate across the Shimogō-Sainokawara pass. For the first time in many generations, the Land of the Mythic Sun is protected from the cursed invasions of the Eastern Empires. For this, Oda Motoyori has declared himself Shogun.

Ruined from centuries of war, the small villages do not hesitate to swear to the mighty Daimyō of Mimasaka. In exchange, he has granted them stipends of gold with which to start rebuilding themselves.

This will not be an easy task. For the Land of the Mythic Sun is beset by danger both from outside, and within its borders. There are more than just samurai to cause concern, as demons and worse roam about. But perhaps the monsters that have sowed fear, can also be recruited.

The Shogun and his newly appointed Daimyō will have their work cut out for them, if they wish to do more than scrape by...

Welcome to Samurai and Daimyō, the cooperative empire-builder game. Interested players may select a province (with the exception of Mimasaka and Shimogō) and then their one build action. Every player currently has 1 food producing building, which produces 2 Food each turn. Each player also starts with 2 Population, which produce 2 Coin by taxation per turn. One of the Populations is automatically assigned to producing food. The other is available to build, or operate future buildings. Villages in the surrounding lands will flock to you as the turns pass, adding to your population.

As players start out, keep note of what others are building. Self-sufficiency is fine, but will rarely allow for specialization. Players are encouraged to specialize, and trade with their neighbors, for interesting and powerful build and unit-options to appear.

Currently Available Buildings:

[] Rice Patty/Hunting Lodge/Fishing Dock (Cost: 2 Coin/1 Turn/1 pop)
[] Lumber Camp (Cost: 2 Coin/1 Turn/1 pop)
[] Iron Mine (Cost: 2 Coin/1 Turn/1 pop)
[] Stone Mine (Cost: 2 Coin/1 Turn/1 pop)
[] Blacksmith Workshops (Cost: 2 Coin/1 Turn/ 1 pop)
[] Barracks (Cost: 2 Coin/1 Turn/1 pop)

Google Sheets Excel Sheet for Interested Parties
Here is a google sheet listing some things. Please forgive the mess, it was hastily made. Your build decisions will be edited in via <>, so if you see a cell with <1> that means its what you ordered built next turn. Sometimes though I won't edit it inbetween turns, and if you want to add the brackets yourself, I will send you an invitation to edit. I also didn't include your build actions or Estate choices yet

Wakasa Prefecture Informational Report
The Daimyō of Wakasa rules a prefecture spread through a series of valleys between mountains and hills. Wakasa is indeed an isolated land, with a fondness for metal-work.

Lady Haruka Yukimura did not expect to inherit, but lost her male relatives to demons. She intends to make her country safe, by any means necessary.

Turn One
Every player currently has 1 food producing building, which produces 2 Food each turn. Each player also starts with 2 Population, which produce 2 Coin by taxation per turn.

Population: 2
+2 tax income
-2 food
Buildings
Rice Paddy
+2 food

I volunteer for Wakasa.

[X] Blacksmith Workshops (Cost: 2 Coin/1 Turn/ 1 pop)

Gonna make all the swords. *hums happily* (I mean, I might be Doing This Wrong since no one's mining yet, but...?)

The Daimyō of Wakasa has ordered the construction of a Blacksmith Workshop, which the new Population will be assigned to. The Wakasa prefecture will experience a food shortage of (1) (2 food, 3 pop) and will need to establish food harvesting, or trade for it.

Iron is required for arming Samurai, and wood is required to arm Levies, before the Blacksmith Workshops may be put to use.
Turn Two
Wakasa, Daimyō Haruka Yukimura

Wakasa

[X] Buying 1 food for 1 coin from @Vanestus (confirmed)
[X] Buying 1 wood for 1 coin from @Mortenkam (confirmed) and then selling it as 1 wooden weapons for 1 coin to @triumph8w (confirmed)

Changed my mind about buying roads this turn - I really want to get them asap, but I think an inn works better right now due to my trade strategy.

The Daimyō of Wakasa rules a prefecture spread through a series of valleys between mountains and hills. Wakasa is indeed an isolated land, with a fondness for metal-work. But it is changing. I even saw the construction of a Ryokan Inn. I should like to return and visit it when I have the chance.

Other Notes
  • Anyone want to buy 1 iron weapons? Usual price, any 2 resource units.
  • I want it noted for the record that while I enjoy the combination of Ryokan Inn and Geisha Quarters with my usual trading habits, it is somewhat scary how much my trade income is going to be after I finish construction.
Daimyō Haruka Yukimura of Clan Wakasa has decided to spend time with her husband, Yame. Though the two originally planned to tour the Blacksmiths, they got caught up discussing trades and administrative tasks. Both enjoyed it immensely, finding solutions to some of the prefecture's problems. Yama caught himself laughing, then suddenly sprouted a fox tail. Alarmed, he rushed to his quarters and shut himself away. Neither Lady Haruka nor servants nor advisers could convince the man to come out, for Yame believes himself cursed and a danger to everyone.

Event: Though Yame is distressed, the appearance of his tail has coincided strangely with a bountiful fruit harvest on wild trees, resulting in 4 food for the prefecture.
Event: News of an impending invasion by the Imperial Dynasty has begun to spread. Refugees from Shimogo have arrived in the prefecture, adding +1 pop

Kameyama Prefecture Informational Report
So, after being really annoyed by the lack of info, I have now made my own info sheet which must of all been a part of the nefarious Lop's plan to pressure me into making it :V This info is more for me than anyone else, honestly

Young, friendly, and talented, Naosuke Kameyama would much prefer to just enjoy some peace. However, he knows those times are far away, so he works to earn some rest; not just for him, but for the people under his care.
