The Galactic Empire, A place of oppression, might, and corruption. Only the downtrodden and foolhardy understand the truth of everything, and embrace the path of rebellion. 15 years ago almost to the day, the Republic was torn down from within by a dark power, one of the darkest to exist within creation: Bureaucracy. They tore themselves apart from within, on the whims of a power hungry madman and did it to the background music of thunderous applause, dying children, and broken tools.

It is on the Edge of The unknown regions, Right along the Galactic Edge, that we Find their latest activities of oppression and greed. The assault of a somewhat advanced world, One with the capabilities to leave their atmosphere but had not achieved it. A Death World, they call…. Remnant.
So yay it's the empire.

They aren't attacking Remnant From the Lulz I have you know.

And what they are after is important enough that, they will attack human worlds for it.

Why attack in the first place? The resources on that planet is huge! A promise of uplifting from the doomed world would make millions of people join them!

If this were a NORMAL space faring empire than maybe.

But the Empire is Run by Palpatine, who is a Sith Lord, And cannot be defined as Sane.

He had TWO death Stars built after all.

Yes, that is true.

While he might not be... 'Sane', he's still intelligent enough to notice the strife Remnant have. And he has just the solution to the problem. Join his Empire, or you will perish at the hands of the Grimm.

That's just not how the Empire does things. Their all about conquest and pillaging to justify their military expansion and then to feed said military in much the same way the roman empire did so in history.

Yes, with Aliens. They are all about the Purity of humanity, they're basically racist to all non-humans. And a world with a few billions on it? A chance to add them to their ranks. And with their own force-fields to boot.

That is the problem I have when the Empire senselessly invade Human worlds, even primitive ones have their uses.

Battle for Remnant: Assault of Vale
Ruby returned to consciousness, only to hear the sounds of war around her, the screams of the dying doing nothing to drown the throbbing ache of injuries on and within her body. The energy bolt struck the ground just in front of her, and if it wasn't for the reflexive activation of her semblance she would've died on the spot… or placed on Death's doorstep. If she were of a weaker persuasion she would have lain there trapped under the rubble, waiting for the inevitable end of the world, brought about by fools and aliens.

But she didn't have that luxury.

She could feel within her soul that her friends needed her! Most urgently however was her injured partner. Weiss.

Ruby could hear her right hand woman, hear her panting in exhaustion, likely due to her own wounds. The resounding pew pews of the Alien weaponry resounded through Ruby's mind as she envisioned her partner dancing through a field of energy bolt fire. She also decided that These invaders had the worst aim of all time. That didn't change the fact that her partner was in grave danger. So Ruby decided to flex her semblance in a way she had never done before.

Despite what some people Believed her semblance was not in fact super speed. Or time manipulation. Or nascent teleportation. Or rapidly propelling herself in a direction.

Her semblance was rather simplistic actually. She turned into a sentient mass of Rose Petals. She could Generate, manipulate and transform into those blood red petals at the drop of a hat. Of course she couldn't do anything really fancy with it, like phasing through attacks. Her first attempt was avoiding the blast from the bombardment, which was… half a success at most.

With a slight spiritual flex, Ruby felt her flesh split apart into rose petals, allowing the rubble to fall completely to the floor. Some of the Petals were crushed but she easily dismissed them. She directed her consciousness swirling the petals into a drill, that shot up and forward to the battle her partner was engaged in.

Ruby was no purehearted innocent, but she was not one to take life callously. But in the instant that she rematerialized all she knew was that someone she cared for was in danger and the only way to save her was to kill these strange invaders. To treat these white armored humanoids as if they were nothing more than creatures of darkness meant to be cut down by her radiance.

So it was with a single swing that she sent the blade of her scythe through the necks of her enemies separating their heads from their bodies, creating crimson geysers that lightly drenched her, and the ground around her.

"Weiss! You're not hurt to badly are you?!" Ruby hoped that talking would distract her from the feeling of blood rolling down her face, and from the queasiness that began to erupt within her stomach.

"I…. I'm as well as can be I suppose." Weiss stood, allowing Ruby to see the blood staining her clothes, both from external sources and from her as well. Before the discussion could continue further Ruby's scroll lit up and jingled. Her sister was calling.

"Ruby! Thank Oum I managed to reach you! The City is in complete Chaos! Stay where you are so Blake and I can reach you!"

Yang's frantic plea ignited something in Ruby, and she felt the the conflict energy of the battle through the city. It filled her, and began to accelerate her healing rate. She gripped Weiss's hand linking her to the flow of energy that surged through the battlefield granting her the benefits of her accelerated healing.

"Yang no! I have something more important for you to do. I need you to get to the Docks and Secure a ship. Have Blake lead you through the alleys and stealth you all the way there. I also need you to gather up as much alien technology and Dust as you can. Just trust me."

Ruby could feel the need of her sister. The need to protect her, everyone on the team. She could feel her sister war against her very nature, but some murmuring in the background, Blake probably, Convinced her otherwise.

"Alright sis. You better meet me at the docks as soon as you can!"

She hung up.

Ruby and Weiss began to run, following the locator apps on their scrolls to find their fellow students and comrades. Weiss stayed back during the engagements leaving them to Ruby and Her powerful Soul Overdrives. The energy unleashed from the swings of her scythe treated the Armor the invaders wore as little more than tissue Paper.

Ruby and Weiss met up with team JNPR first, but it took some time to actually recognize them. Seeing their friends covered in bloods was far too strange, and macabre. Nora's Manic Grin was honestly quite unsettling now.

"Jaune! I need some back up for a special mission!" Ruby's shout reached her fellow Leader over the Din of battle surrounding them, and after dispatching the last of their enemies Team JNPR entered a dialogue with the Silver eyed Maiden.

"What kind of Mission?" Jaune asked in between gasps for air. Though he has indeed come far under Pyrrha's tutelage, his stamina was rather low, especially for the kind of battle needed in this war.

"Long story short, Atlas has what we need to take the fight to the Invaders Spaceships…. But their likely in the hands of a psychopathic idiot. Yang and blake are heading to the Docks to secure and prepare a ship, so head there and gather any body else you find. Make sure to gather all the Dust and Alien Tech you can as well! I'll need it!"

And with that departing command, Ruby Dragged her partner deeper into the City, Locked onto Team CFVY's signal. After seeing it so many times on the battlefield and and quick rundown and warning, Weiss learned how to harness Conflict energy.

The sight that they reached was a sad one however.

"HOW DARE YOU! I'LL SLAUGHTER EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU ALIEN BASTARDS!" Such a vicious war cry being uttered from the suave Coco was… out of place in all honesty. It wasn't until they saw Velvet kneeling between two figures, and crying her heart out was everything clear. Fox and Yatsuhashi had fallen in the battle. The pounding sound of Bullets flying from Coco's minigun Shredding the Soldiers and mechanical infantry in explosions of crimson viscera and metal fragments.

"Coco! COCO!" Ruby's Shouts snap the distraught fashionista out of her battle fury, but the distraught look on her face touched ruby on a level she was very uncomfortable with. Coco looked to be on the edge of tears, a state that did not suit her. So marshalling what social skills she had Ruby made her plea to her.

"Coco… I'm not going to pretend that I know what you are going through right now. So I'm not going to bother. But I will tell you that I have no intent of letting myself, or anyone else feel the pain you are feeling right now, if I have the power to stop it. I need your help for a mission to Atlas, so I need you to go over to the Docks, and Wreak as much havoc as you possibly Can. If all goes well we should be able to take the fight to the Invaders. Are you with me?!"

".... They killed my boys Ruby. If this crazy plan of your's can get me a shot at the bastard in charge of all of this…. Just point the way!"

Ruby knew that Coco was not really as well as she claimed, but she was well enough and managed to drag Velvet up and along with her.

The Pink Rose duo, departed once more searching for the last active signal they both knew: Cinder's. The Conflict energy began to lose it's ability to dull the pain of Ruby's wounds, and everything was beginning to set in.

"Cinder! Emerald! *Bang* You Nearby?!" Ruby continued to snipe at soldiers as she called out for her last two friends. Weiss had long since exhausted her dust supply, and much of her stamina, using pure swordsmanship to slay her enemies.

Several obsidian arrows suddenly sprouted from some soldiers that were about to flank the duo, along with sudden decapitation from some chain Scythes.

Cinder and Emerald stepped into vision some distress visible on their face. Ruby didn't bother to ask about the cause of that distress, the cause likely the death of that Mercury guy.

"Cinder, I need some more support for an assault into enemy Territory. Atlas has access to a very dangerous piece of technology that can allow us to take the fight to the enemy, but their using it wrong. We need to take a ship up north and possibly blast our way through the remains of the Atlesian military." Ruby's explanation was mulled over by the older woman, her eyes glowing as they usually did.

"What are we waiting for? Shall we proceed to the docks together?"

At Cinder's affirmation Ruby opened her scroll once more to see if she could find Penny only to see that she was heading to the Docks already.

With the majority of the invaders reinforcements cleared, Ruby lead her team of four to the docks, only to encounter a new problem.

The Grimm had arrived attracted by the negativity, and death occurring in Vale, and they had arrived in great force. Everyone was aching and hurting but they let the combination of adrenaline and Aura, dull the pain once more as they carved a swathe through the creatures of negativity and darkness, saving who they could along the way.

It was only when they finally reached the docks that Ruby encountered her favorite gynoid once more….

But under the command of a now sinister power.

Ruby did not know what tipped her off. Maybe it was her friends stiffer than normal movements, the agitated clicks of her exposed mechanical parts. Or maybe it was the glowing red eyes.

Probably the eyes.

"Penny! What's wrong?!" Ruby pleaded.

The burgeoning A.I. merely glared at the girl she called friend. She spoke, eventually, her voice grating inside her mechanical throat, another, stranger voice, layered on top of her own.

"Target…. Acquired! Kill! Ruby! ROSE!" Her declaration was slow and halting, almost as if she were at war with herself, desperately trying to prevent, her body from harming one of her only friends in the world.

But Ruby had no time to make such an observation, for she was newly trapped in a battle for not just her life, her friends lives, or the lives of Vale. All of Remnant was counting on her, counting on her to save it from the dark ambitions of someone tampering with a force they couldn't even begin to comprehend.

But right now it was all Ruby could do to knock the apparatus of the charging beam aside, destroying the surrounding buildings and materials on the docks, just barely avoiding the ship.

But Penny simply swung her other arm to the front, another charge of energy contained by a cyclone of blades, ready to release.

Before the energy could release and eviscerate our beloved heroine, her sister appeared in front of her, blocking the energy with the shield sheath of Crocea Mors. the resulting deflection of energy generated even more rubble creating a small wall that began to surround our heroes territory of the docks. The energy ceased as Jaune dashed past Yang and Ruby, swinging his blade with all the force he could muster, enhanced by the Soul Overdrive technique taught to him by Ruby earlier in the week. Crocea Mors cleaved through Penny's arms, exposing the mechanical insides in full.

"If you want to get to my sister…" Yang tosses Jaune his shield, her eyes beginning to blaze a crimson fire as her hair lit ablaze. "You'll have to go through me!"

Penny merely released the monomolecular wire that connected her blades together, activating some kind of advanced flight function, brought about by the Life engine technology. Ruby, Yang and Jaune Engaged the controlled Penny with all the strength they could muster, the others gathered, keeping the Grimm and other intruders at bay.

Yangs fists blazed with golden fire, each impact delivering a resounding Crack against Penny's aura and Frame, melting the synthetic flesh off with each hit that connected. Jaune and Ruby unleashed a dance of blades on the synthetic being hacking away at the metallic body exposing the sensitive wires and inner workings.

They dodged and weaved around the dangerous blades that swarmed around them, until finally…

*Shrrrck!*

Ruby and Jaune manage to cut her in half, horizontally Bisecting her torso. Penny's blades fell to the floor, their director unable to animate them again.

Ruby, felt a crushing feeling in her chest, one that swelled upward. She knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to cry. She wanted to just let all these heave and painful emotions, flow outward before they could ferment into a seed of darkness and hate within her. But before anything could happen, A mighty beam of energy erupted from Beacon. A sickly Black-Grey beam that sucked away all the color and happiness around it. The beam reached all the way up into the atmosphere, spreading the energy over the planet.

As the energy came into contact with the enemy ships, they began to age, and break. Falling apart as what kept it all together suddenly stopped working.

Those that did not recognize the energy, the signs of what it did, they cared only for the fact that those that were attacking them were being destroyed.

But for Ruby, she knew exactly what that energy meant. Her worst nightmares realized. Someone had weaponized the Death Engine technology. She knew every inch of the technology and how the energy worked. Even shaped as it was into a beam, that energy still emitted some power in all other directions, and shaping it like that… another beam was firing straight down into the core of Remnant, the equivalent of it's heart. Even if she had the power to run fast enough to reach the generators…. Remnant would still die. A glance to the south revealed a similar glow of sickly energy

'Perhaps all the kingdoms have Death engines blasting beams of power into the sky….' Ruby thought morosely as the others stared upwards in confusion.

"What do I do now?" She whispered as the deathly energy continues to spread across the atmosphere, and burrows unseen into the earth, towards the beating molten heart of her home.

End battle
