Rocketeer [PKMN/Recettear/Rancher]

at least it doesnt seem to be intentional. Because that was really what I first thought regarding the debt and how high its interest was.

Gastly and Nidoran lines should be our focus I think. They are just too strong to ignore and fits with our training equipments.

Probably won't use Lv.3 training machines until your PKMN are at least 1 year old or so tbh.

Pity, surprise Lavender won.
Its where all the Ghosts are. Also it has a cemetary, so we have multiple ways to dispose of anybody they send to collect the debt.

I'm kidding, mostly.

Still really love the Ghastly line. Its probably my favorite pokemon line.

I don't know what mechanics are being used this time around, but the combination of being immune to shit and having status effects makes ghastly a perfect ranch foremon.

Edit: plus, I have an unfulfilled Gastly hankering from the last quest, where we abandoned that dream due to having to actually capture the thing with nothing much by way of an edge.

I'm on board with getting Gastly, but do we need to limit ourselves to just one Pokémon, or might we want to consider getting multiple?
By definition, we can have but one starter. :V

But yes, we'd be a funny sort of pokemon rancher if we didn't ranch a bunch of pokemon.

@wdango could you explain the business model of pokemon ranching? Are we raising to sell, breeding, or what?

Neither of those sound like they have great turnaround times, which is uncomfortable given the need for both initial overheads and monthly payments.

Also, LOL on the pokemon gym being where pokemon go to work out for once.

You have a handful of PKMN you raise as battlers, put them into tournaments, and collect prize money and/or sponsor money.

Participating costs a registration fee tho and only the winner gets the prize. Runner-up typically gets some consolation prize.

On the side, you can raise non-combat quality PKMN such as Doduo, Mareep, etc. and sell their produce (unfertilised eggs, wool), and you can grow Berry trees, Apricorn trees... you can make apricorn wine too lol. These can be surprisingly profitable.

...can we sell meat?

Okay, I can work with that. For the moment, we should prioritise pokemon with profitable byproducts and berry trees, until we get enough relatively passive income to meet the minimum interest repayments.

Then, when we have a little surplus, we can start entering tournaments, to hopefully start winning some lump sums to take chunks out of the principal.

The kind that grows when you plant bones? :V

It wouldn't be the first time wDango's worldbuilding has included something like that. We shouldn't rely on meat growing from trees until we know for sure, though, lest we be Ham Bushed by the truth. :p

Can we sell services such as teleportation or translation if we get a psychic type?

Strong, versatile, supported by our existing training equipment, and town-appropriate?

Gastly's a must.

Translation?

Teleportation doesn't go that far lol. Short range only.
Namely, if a battling Pokemon feels something is wrong in their training, a psychic type could act as a liaison between Pokemon and human. Not many people would be interested as more than a novelty, but those who are appreciative of the service would possibly invest in one of our psychics, or at least be regular customers.

The problem is, of course, that Psychics don't communicate in human language too. Lol.

Not sure about this yet tbh.

I'll probably pass on Meat Farm, but go ahead with edible PKMN. Slowpoke Tails etc. So you could totally raise livestock and build a slaughterhouse on the grounds.

PKMN only have lifespans averaging 4 years anyway.
