The vault in RL is located in a nuclear bomb proof multi-story underground vault. You could change it so that due to Global War, the vault received more support since last time I checked the Robotech timeline, chemical and biological weapons were used in the war.

Hmm. Seems my friend from the UK gave me some faulty info. Well the vault survived then. Though the ruins London are irradiated and are not safe to go there.

Another seed vault designed to fulfil the same role is the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.
@Alias ANy chance that one could have survived too? Also, how wide an area would be covered by the Check Out Regions option - in the case of the above link would it be restricted to just Svalbard? Or could the choice cover the whole of Scandinavia?

The area check out can be one city or a region as big as Scandinavia or even bigger. Also that seed bank definitely survived.

Nope, I'm from Australia (although I do have blond hair and blue eyes). There was an article about the Svalbard vault receiving 50 000 additional seeds from Africa in the news last week, which drew my attention to it. As for the Musko base, I heard about it a while ago and it stuck in my mind - an underground naval and submarine base that can accommodate up to three thousand people living on site is just to damn cool to forget
What really makes me wonder is why the hell the makers of teh James Bond movies or Mission Impossible or the other spy movies haven't been asking the Swedish government for filming rights there. I can imagine them right now...

A new Supreme Court has been formed from 9 judges amongst the population of Macross and Scandinavia. As well some of the judges on the SDF-1 have moved to Granite City in order to form a new court district for the ruined city. Other surviving court district's will be joined to the world's new court system and if needed judges will be sent to any regions that need judges. As well due to your need for lawyers, the cost for law school will be subsidized.
Result: Formation of new legal system.
[X]Examine Zentradi technology: Doctor Emil Lang has asked for your permission to examine Breetai's flagship and other examples of Zentradi technology. Lang hopes to get a better understanding of Zentradi. As well it will give Lang a better idea of what is needed to rebuild Breetai's ship.

Lang with a team of scientist and engineer's went into orbit and spent nearly a month examining Breetai's flagship and the other ships still operational. The notes from the salvage teams from last month has proved very helpful to better understanding Zentradi tech. As well Lang and his team noted structural issues that were not known to General Breetai's crews previously. Lang has informed you that with further studying of Zentradi tech he feels comfortable to begin repairs of Zentradi ships at the start of August. As well with more studying of Zentradi mecha's, fighters and with the building of factories and sufficient resources you can begin building said fighter's and mecha's.
Results: Greater understanding of Zentradi tech.
[X]A new government: Right now with all government officials likely being dead, your officers and you are pretty much Earth's unofficial government. While that's fine for the short term, in the long term a new civilian government must be established. Though it is not a pressing need for the moment.
Reward: Process to establish a new government for Earth begins.
A provisional civilian government has been established composed of government officials from the SDF-1 and Scandinavia. Though due to disagreements with Scandinavia it was decided not to hold a presidential election for now. The provisional government has a mandate to last four years. Before that mandate expires, election's will be held. There are issues of how many representatives each region will get. Though that will be decided in the future during a convention to organize a permanent government for Earth.
Result: Provisional government established.
[X]Study the Protoculture Matrix: The Protoculture Matrix is responsible for many things. The rise of the Robotech Masters empire, the Invid-Masters war, the creation of the Zentradi, and finally the war with the Zentradi and the resulting devastation of Earth and death of billions of people. Part of you wants to destroy the damn thing but you know you need it. So have Lang and those working under him, study the device and figure how it ticks. Though Lang has informed you it may take years or decades to unlock the secrets of the Matrix.

Not much was learned about the Matrix this month. It didn't help that Lang had to leave to check out Breetai's ships. However Lang's team will continue to work on the Matrix. If any progress is made you and the new government will be informed.

The ship has however suffered great damage. Unfortunately the devastation of Earth has destroyed the supply chains the RDF relied upon in the past and therefore you do not have access to the resources or supplies to fully repair the SDF-1. Still you can begin repairs of the SDF-1 and in the future fully repair the SDF-1 when new supply chains can be established.
Reward: Repairs of the SDF-1 begin.
Work to repair the SDF-1 has begun. However without access to the resources the RDF once enjoyed, you will not be able to fully rebuild the SDF-1.

Amazingly and against all odds Scandinavia came out of the Rain of Death almost totally unscrathed with only a few minor towns destroyed. The discovery of 20 million people plus refugee's has served as a major morale boost for the people of Macross and making the future of humanity seem a little bit less dark. The survival of the military bases here including Veritech fighters and Destroids is as well as a welcomed boost to your rebuilding military. With the resources and people of Scandinavia you have some of the basic building blocks needed to rebuild civilization.
Result: Discovery of Scandinavia almost completely intact. Svalbard seed vault and the Musko submarine base have both survived as well.

The future seems brighter with Scandinavia for the most part intact. What resources and people it has will be quite helpful in rebuild in other regions that were far less fortunate on the final day of the war. In other news food production is growing in the region around the SDF-1 and food from Scandinavia has eliminated starvation in this region. In orbit you will soon be able to repair General Breetai's ships and whose ships will serve as Earth's new fleet. While so much work lies ahead you now feel more confident about Earth's ability to rebuild.
