Robotech: Rising from the ashes

Turn 1 results
[X]Mandatory Therapy and other measures: In the last 24 hours there have been have among-st both the military and civilian population of the SDF-1, a total of 132 suicides. The reason for this sudden rash of suicides is obvious. The Zentradi's orbital bombardment of Earth, or as it's starting to be called the Rain of Death. With humanity's numbers so low and the loss of countless skilled people across numerous fields, every life is precious. Therefore mandatory therapy and others measures are needed for both the military and civilians to prevent further loss of life. Or as the very least greatly decrease the number of suicides.
Reward: Reduction in the number of suicides among-st the SDF-1's military personnel and civilians.

Thankfully amongst both the military and civilian population you have a sizeable number of therapists and psychiatrist. A result of the stress of being in space and the countless Zentradi attacks and the need to deal with the issues that result from that. So you gave the order and as a result of everyone was required to attend therapy. Even yourself. Many complaints were made but this is a necessary response. What you all went through was a very traumatizing event. As well very other measures were implemented. All together it seems to have help reduce your suicide epidemic as there only has been 210 suicides for the remainder of the month rather than that being daily. Still vigilance is required to prevent more suicides.

Result: Suicide rate has fallen for now.

[X]A new chain of command: Like Earth's civilian leadership, their military counterparts are likely all dead. Therefore establishing a new chain of command is necessary. Your officers will be assigned to various commands that will need to be re-established, while you will be taking command of what is left of Earth's forces.
Reward: SDF-1 officer's promoted and put in charge of various military command's while you will assume command of all remaining Earth forces.

You know giving commands to your officers and promoting them to the necessary rank or even putting yourself in charge of what's left of the military is not even remotely legal, but the Rain of Death has made it necessary. All in all the process of assigning commands was rather easy since you have known the officers under command for many years or at least the last two years. You've noted with some humor that many of your Admirals and Generals are very young and the officers taking their former jobs even younger. You wonder how long the youthfulness of this officer core and the new brass will last but despite their young age you have no doubts about their ability to lead. And finally you made yourself Military Chief of Staff or MCS for short and are now in command of the military. Hopefully nobody will dispute your personal promotion.

Result: Various Commands re-established and quite a few promotions. You are now command of the military.

[X]Search for survivors and organize them: After the battle there a was fear that the people on board of the SDF-1 and still in orbit we're the majority of the surviving people of the Earth. However the radio transmissions you've been receiving have given you hope that more people than estimated have survived the final battle. As a result your next step is to send out patrol craft to locate and rescue stranded survivors and giving what aid you can to the devastated communities of this region and beyond. Also you will need to convince the surviving communities that they will need to share their resources and work together if you all are to survive this catastrophe.
Reward: Searching for survivors begin and first crucial steps to rebuilding civilizations.

Patrol craft have begun sweeping the nearby areas for survivors and surviving cities and towns. Convoys of refugees have been redirected and survivors rescued. Most towns and cities in this regions have either been destroyed, ravaged or abandoned. A few small towns have been found and the ruins of a city, renamed Granite City and inhabited by refugees were found and assistance provided to them. Engineers have been dispatched to plan the reconstruction of these settlements. As well construction of greenhouses to reduce starvation. And finally Veritech patrols extended to these areas.

Result: Refugees resettled in SDF-1. A few inhabited towns and Granite City discovered.

[X]Patrol surrounding areas: While the war is technically over, you figure sizeable parts of Dolza's surviving warriors will not care about that fact. So best to begin using what Veritech's you have left to patrol nearby area's for any signs of hostile forces who may have landed nearby or give you advance warning of a possible attack on the SDF-1.
Reward: Patrols of nearby area's begin for signs of enemy forces.

At first you didn't have many Veritechs available for patrol duty seeing as not many were on board when the SDF-1 crashed landed. And of those board, many were were heavily damaged during the crash landing. Though over the course of the remainder of April, between repairs and the arrival of RDF Veritechs from orbit, you are able to more extensively patrol the nearby areas and no longer have to worry about not having enough squadrons in case a Zentradi unit attacks.

Result: Patrols of nearby areas have begun. As well there is now once again a full complement of Veritech fighters on the SDF-1.

[X]We need more food: With most of Earth's farmlands have been destroyed and as well radioactive, famine, hunger and starvation are going to be a common fact for most people for a long time to come. Still can you begin alleviating this by building more greenhouses to grow food in addition to rebuilding the ones you already have on the SDF-1. Your as well gonna need the extra food as you take in refugees.
Reward: Additional food begins to be grown on the SDF-1.

Building of new greenhouses and repairing of damaged ones has begun to help stabilize your food situation and to feed refugees and support settlements in this region and beyond. Though it will take time till the next crop is ready. As a result you've been forced to once again insitute rationing. Those in charge of managing the greenhouses have suggested that you move ahead with building a city outside of SDF-1 to free up space for either greenhouses and or farm land, though there is some debate about the validity of the second.

Result: New greenhouses built and older ones repaired. Rationing once again implemented.

[X]Remember the fallen: The Zentradi killed billions before your forces working with Breetai's forces were able to defeat them. As a result everyone has lost a friend or a loved one. Perhaps a memorial event will help them in their grieving for those recently lost and as well honor those who have given their lives to protect humanity.
Reward: Memorial service held. Hopefully help the grieving process for countless people.

The service was a rather somber event. Civilians and military remembered and mourned those lost and likely dead. Though stories about about happier times were shared as well. RDF personnel and even those Zentradi that attended shared war stories and talked about comrades who did not live see the end of the war. From what you can tell from personal observations, it's helped quite a few people.

Result: Memorial service held. Boost to ship morale.

Off to a good start :)

Next turn we should definitely get started on building that city around the SDF-1, and I'd really like to start repairing it too.

One of my major goals is to have the SDF-1 completely repaired well before Khyron gets any ideas about suicidal attacks in this quest.

Probably should let you know Khyron isn't the only Zentradi warlord you have to worry about. Not that would be surprising.

Would setting up production lines for Veritechs be viable for the future? I assume being able to construct Destroids as well as conventional military hardware would be easier as they don't need to transform.

Are we going to have the Flower of Life / Protoculture matrix / protoculture power source mentioned in the Robotech novels be canon for this quest?

Veritechs were designed to transform to Battloid mode specifically to fight the Zentraedi in ground combat. With that in mind I'd like to suggest something that was shown in a blink-and-you-miss-it sequence in Macross Plus - a bayonet for the gunpod.

Not just viable, it's going to be vital since nearly all of Earth's infrastructure is ruined from the Rain of Death.

The Matrix thingy is somewhere on the SDF-1.

I'm pretty sure we already have a production line for them on the SDF 1, but another one wouldn't hurt. The Veritech is a pretty good all rounder, it can even wrestle with disorderly Zendradi. They have hands and secondary waldos for fine manipulation. I would be surprised if they weren't already being used in reconstruction.

Turn 2 May 2011
It's been nearly a month since the end of the war. You are still amazed that you and the rest of the people onboard the SDF-1 survived. Still you did and now you need to focus on rebuilding civilization and begin repairing for the next war. Likely to be either the Robotech Masters or a species called the Invid. Whoever you fight next, you'll be prepared and you will win. Because victory is the only acceptable option.

Pick 7

[]New justice system: Most of the people involved of Earth's legal system are dead. So in light of this use the judges, lawyers and prosecutors on the SDF-1 as the basis of a new legal system. You'll leave the whole process to those more
Reward: New justice system for the SDF-1 and beyond established.

[]Zentradi integration: The Zentradi aren't going anywhere. And both humanity and Zentradi are going to need to have to get along. Therefore a first step is to have Zentradi and humans live together. There will be issues but you can not have a divided society.
Reward: Zentradi and Humans will live in the same communities. Segregation of Zentradi in towns or cities illegal.
Note: Not compatible with Zentradi Segregated.

[]Zentradi Segregated: You'd be kidding if you think Humanity and Zentradi are just going to get along, hold hands and sing kumbaya. You can afford riots when it's going to take a long time to heal the scars of this war. Until then Humanity and the Zentradi will live in separate cities. Though exemptions will be made for Zentradi currently living in the SDF-1.
Reward: Zentradi segregation legal.
Note: Not compatible with Zentradi integration.

[]Segregated military: Countless Earth militaries over the years have had riots or violence with their militaries due to differences and other factors between various groups of people. And considering the limited resources available you'd rather not have them damage in any riots between Humans and Zentradi. So for the time being have Humans and Zentradi serve in separate units. Exceptions will be of course made for Zentradi currently serving in the RDF.
Reward: Separate Human and Zentradi units in the RDF.
Note: Not compatible Integrate the military.

[]Integrate the military: The members of the RDF and Breetai's forces fought together in the final battle of this war. Hopefully that sense of unity will continue. So merge your forces with Breetai's and pray that the RDF won't be plagued by violence between Humans and Zentradi.
Reward: RDF and Zentradi units integrated.
Note: Not compatible Segregated military.

[]Savage Protoculture and parts: Breetai has informed that some of the damaged or destroyed Zentradi ships in orbit to still contain Protoculture. As well you can scavenge parts from these ships to repair Breetai's remaining ships. If you want to keep what's left of Breetai's fleet operational youre going to need to scavenge from the ships in orbit.
Reward: Protoculture and spare parts for Breetai's ships.

[]Check every inch: The Protoculture Matrix. This device is the reason the Earth in ruins and most of humanity dead. Breetai has also informed that the Robotech Masters are hell bent on recovering due to it producing Protoculture which powers their technology. So seeing as something so valuable is somewhere on the SDF-1 it would be advisable to find it. So have SDF-1 personnel search every inch of the ship and find the damn thing.
Reward: The Protoculture Matrix

[]Search for more survivors: You found some survivors last month have and have resettled them in the SDF-1. However there are likely still more out in the wastelands. If there going to survive they need assistance from the SDF-1. Also your Valkyrie's are going to go further out in search of surviving cities and towns.
Reward: Hopefully the discovery of survivors and cities.

[]A new city: Seeing as the SDF-1 isn't likely to go back into space any time soon, the people of Macross can finally leave the ship. Though do current circumstances you're going to have to build a new city for them. Luckily you can use what remains of Macross City in the SDF-1 to build said city around the crater that the SDF is currently residing in. As well with experience gained in rebuilding Macross City countless times, the new settlement will be rapidly built.
Time: 3 months. Reward: Construction of a new city outside the SDF-1 begins.
[] Sub option: Write-in name of new city.

[]A new government: Right now with all government officials likely being dead, your officers and you are pretty much Earth's unofficial government. While that's fine for the short term, in the long term a new civilian government must be established. Though it is not a pressing need for the moment.
Reward: Process to establish a new government for Earth begins.

[]Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country: Much work will be needed to do to rebuild global civilizations. As well the ranks of the RDF and the other branches of the Earth's have all been wiped out. So you need to begin convince quite a few people to enlist in the armed forces and to rejoin the reconstruction effort that's slowly beginning to take shape. Those joining the reconstruction effort will help to begin rebuilding still habitable nearby cities and towns.
Reward: New recruits for the military and for future reconstruction projects. Rebuilding of nearby cities and towns begin.

[]Begins repairs of the SDF-1: The SDF-1 along with most of her crew and civilian population has amazingly survived the cataclysm that was final battle of the Robotech War. The ship has however suffered great damage. Unfortunately the devastation of Earth has destroyed the supply chains the RDF relied upon in the past and therefore you do not have access to the resources or supplies to fully repair the SDF-1. Still you can begin repairs of the SDF-1 and in the future fully repair the SDF-1 when new supply chains can be established.
Reward: Repairs of the SDF-1 begin.

[]Check out regions: You need to know the condition of the various regions of the Earth and what resources weren't blasted into nothing by the Zentradi. So with assistance of Breetai's forces begin scouting the various regions of the world.
[]Sub option: Write in name region of the world you wish to explore. Example: West Africa or East Africa.
Note: You may explore multiple regions. But each region of the world you pick will use one action. So pick three regions, you use three actions.

[]Build military base near Granite City: Granite City is now under the protection of the SDF-1. Valkyrie's regularly do patrols around Granite City. However there fears among the people of Granite that the Zentradi may attack when the Valkyrie's aren't nearby. So to allay their fears and to better protect the city and build a base their. As well sation some of your Destroids and Valkyrie's.
[]Sub option: Write in name of base.
[]Sub option: Write in how many Destroids and Valkyrie's you wish to base their.
Time: 1 month. Reward: Granite City military base
Note: 212 Valkyrie's and 82 Destroids.

[]Begin rebuilding Granite City: Granite City is one of countless cities that has been been devastated by the Rain of Death. It will also be the first to be rebuilt. Using some construction materials from the SDF-1 and whatever is left in Granite City and as well reuse what use can from damaged buildings to rebuild Granite City.
Time: 3 months. Reward: Granite City rebuild.

[]Examine Zentradi technology: Doctor Emil Lang has asked for your permission to examine Breetai's flagship and other examples of Zentradi technology. Lang hopes to get a better understanding of Zentradi. As well it will give Lang a better idea of what is needed to rebuild Breetai's ship.
Reward: Possible insight into Zentradi tech and info about what is needed to rebuild Zentradi ships.

Question, could doing some options at the same time interact with each other, like the options of Looking for the Matrix with Repairing the SDF-1 (while looking for the Matrix they can examine the ships for any more problems); or Examine Zentradi technology with Savage Protoculture and parts (if Lang gets a better understanding of Zentradi tech, he can point out what exactly we need to salvage and how to safely do it)?

[X] Plan tri2

[X]Zentradi integration:

[X]Integrate the military:

[X]Savage Protoculture and parts:

[X]Check every inch:

[X]Search for more survivors:

[X]A new city:
[X] Sub option: Macross City

[X]Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country:

reasoning for integration, they wanted to live our way of life, but there are those that want battle and not our culture, feed both, those want life get it, those who want battle are sortied with our military to feed their battle lust.
find that matrix so we have power for our war machines
salvage for keeping our space fleet in operation and giving us orbital supremacy
survivors for more hands
new city because living in sdf 1 will most likely grate on the people who have been for so long.
recruit more men

Hmm. No for the first. It's going take time for Lang to understand the technology the Zentradi use and any insights he might gain would likely be limited in only the course of a month.

[X] Plan Social Cohesion

[X]New justice system
[X]Zentradi integration
[X]Integrate the military
[x]A new city
- [x] Sub option: Macross City
[X]A new government
[X]Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country

Integration of the Zentraedi in both the civilian and military sectors.

While we're working on integrating the Zentraedi into society we should get a proper judiciary set up to get a proper legal system going.

Begin construction of a new city around the SDF-1 to settle the population and free up repair work on the SDF-1.

Set up a civilian government to ease civilian concerns about being ruled by the military, and also let the military concentrate on its own role.

Focus on recruitment for reconstruction efforts as well as the military to protect them.

Search teh SDF-1 for the Protoculture Matrix so we can start building Veritechs and Destroids

[X] Plan Social Cohesion

Integration of the Zentradi in both civilian life and the military will cause problems, but in the long run it's definitely the best decision. Having our justice system set up for when those problems do pop up is definitely a good idea, and so is setting up a civilian government.

We should definitely set up a military base at Granite City next turn.

Plan: Nipping problems in the bud
[X]New justice system
[X]Zentradi integration
[X]Integrate the military
[X]Check every inch
[X]Search for more survivors
[x]A new city
- [x] Sub option: Macross City
[X]Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country

So the only difference between your plan and mine (Plan Social Cohesion) is that you chose to search for more survivors straight away while I choose to set up a civilian government to help get everything set up for the future.

Remaining Survivors would probably be dead by next turn or so, even the most resilient of them. Basically a last call for salvage.

Turn 2 results
[X]Zentradi integration: The Zentradi aren't going anywhere.

The Macross government has updated it's laws and now Zentradi have all the rights of their human counterparts. While the people of the SDF-1 have for the most part accept this, you would be a fool to think the rest of the world will accept this. It will not be easy building a new society consisting of Humans and Zentradi.

Result: Full Civil Rights for the Zentradi.

[X]Integrate the military: The members of the RDF and Breetai's forces fought together in the final battle of this war. Hopefully that sense of unity will continue. So merge your forces with Breetai's and pray that the RDF won't be plagued by violence between Humans and Zentradi.
Reward: RDF and Zentradi units integrated.
Note: Not compatible Segregated military.

On your orders and with the agreement of Breetai, his forces have been integrated into the RDF though for now they will be largely their own branch of the RDF due to being based on ships in orbit. With time and attrition, RDF units will be composed of both Humans and Zentradi.

Result: Breetai's forces integrated into the RDF. Breetai promoted to General.

[X]Salvage Protoculture and parts: Breetai has informed that some of the damaged or destroyed Zentradi ships in orbit to still contain Protoculture. As well you can scavenge parts from these ships to repair Breetai's remaining ships. If you want to keep what's left of Breetai's fleet operational youre going to need to scavenge from the ships in orbit.
Reward: Protoculture and spare parts for Breetai's ships.

Engineers from the SDF-1 working with the Zentradi have removed Protoculture and spare parts from a number of damaged Zentradi ships in orbit. The Protoculture harvested will keep what few of Breetai's ships survived the battle powered. The spare parts salvaged will be useful in repairing Zentradi ships. Though your engineers have more insight into Zentradi ships and tech because of these salvage operations, further understanding of Zentradi ships will be necessary before they feel they can begin repairing Zentradi ships to a satisfactory degree. As well there are countless remaining Zentradi ships that can be salvaged for parts or Protoculture.

Result: Protoculture and parts savaged. Engineers have a better understanding of Zentradi ships.

[X]Check every inch: The Protoculture Matrix.

When you think about it you can't understand how the Protoculture Matrix wasn't discovered during the process of rebuilding Zor's fortress. It would like a TV show having some valuable item be fought over but nobody can find it because of the needs story. Anyway you ordered teams to check every inch of the ship and to look for anything that was not included in the blueprints of the ship and looked very much out of place. While it took nearly all of May to find it, a team found what the Zentradi had been seeking for ten plus years. The Protoculture Matrix. Now you have to figure how to use it. Also your teams have noted issues that will or may arise during the process of rebuilding the SDF-1.

Result: Protoculture Matrix found.

[X]Search for more survivors: You found some survivors last month have and have resettled them in the SDF-1. However there are likely still more out in the wastelands. If there going to survive they need assistance from the SDF-1. Also your Valkyrie's are going to go further out in search of surviving cities and towns.
Reward: Hopefully the discovery of survivors and cities.

The number of survivors you found this month was much lower than what is last month. You have no idea how many died before you could find them. You doubt you will find many more survivors outside of cities or towns from this point forward in this region from this point on. Still you have saved those you could. You as well rescued a number of Breetai's Zentradi that had crashed and were running out of food before you found them.

Result: Less survivors rescued and a smaller number of inhabited settlements founded.

[X]A new city: Seeing as the SDF-1 isn't likely to go back into space any time soon, the people of Macross can finally leave the ship.
[X] Sub option: Macross City.

Construction of the fourth iteration and hopefully final iteration of Macross has begun. It's population will be a mix of Zentradi, RDF personnel, refugees and the surviving inhabitants of Macross Island. It will also be the capital of Earth's next government and the location of the headquarters of the RDF. You expect it will grow into quite a large city in the future.

Result: Construction of the latest iteration of Macross City has begun.

[X]Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country: Much work will be needed to do to rebuild global civilizations. As well the ranks of the RDF and the other branches of the Earth's have all been wiped out. So you need to begin convince quite a few people to enlist in the armed forces and to rejoin the reconstruction effort that's slowly beginning to take shape. Those joining the reconstruction effort will soon to begin to help rebuilding still habitable nearby cities and towns.
Reward: New recruits for the military and for future reconstruction projects. Rebuilding of nearby cities and towns begin.

You gave speeches calling for new recruits for the military to have to have the manpower it's to deal with the various threats facing Earth and for volunteers to help rebuild Earth's cities, towns, infrastructure etc. The people of Macross and Zentradi enlisted in large numbers for either the military or as volunteers for what is starting to be called the Reconstruction Corps, modeled off the Peace Corps. While it will take much effort to recover from the cataclysm this war was, with the assistance of the people the Earth and civilization will one day recover.

Result: New recruits for the military. Reconstruction Corps established. Effort to rebuild cities and towns begins.

Turn 3 June 2011
Slowly but surely the crew and people of the SDF-1 are laying the foundations for a new society. Things will never be the same, still you will work to ensure there will be a brighter future for each succeeding generation and that there will be future generations to enjoy the fruits of your labor. While much work lies ahead, it is necessary work.

[]Salvage Protoculture and parts: Breetai has informed that some of the damaged or destroyed Zentradi ships in orbit to still contain Protoculture. As well you can scavenge parts from these ships to repair Breetai's remaining ships. If you want to keep what's left of Breetai's fleet operational youre going to need to scavenge from the ships in orbit.
Reward: Protoculture and spare parts for Breetai's ships.

[]Study the Protoculture Matrix: The Protoculture Matrix is responsible for many things. The rise of the Robotech Masters empire, the Invid-Masters war, the creation of the Zentradi, and finally the war with the Zentradi and the resulting devastation of Earth and death of billions of people. Part of you wants to destroy the damn thing but you know you need it. So have Lang and those working under him, study the device and figure how it ticks. Though Lang has informed it make take years or decades to unlock the secrets of the Matrix.
Reward: Hopefully more info about the Protoculture Matrix.

[]A new government: Right now with all government officials likely being dead, your officers and you are pretty much Earth's unofficial government. While that's fine for the short term, in the long term a new civilian government must be established. Though it is not a pressing need for the moment.
Reward: Process to establish a new government for Earth begins.

Reward: Repairs of the SDF-1 begin.

[]Check out regions: You need to know the condition of the various regions of the Earth and what resources weren't blasted into nothing by the Zentradi. So with assistance of Breetai's forces begin scouting the various regions of the world. Also these regions will need assistance to rebuild and repel attacks by hostile Zentradi or human warlords.
[]Sub option: Write in name region of the world you wish to explore. Example: West Africa or East Africa.
Note: You may explore multiple regions. But each region of the world you pick will use one action. So pick three regions, you use three actions. The SDF-1 landed in the Mountain States region of the USA. May want to check that place out.

[]Sub option: Write in name of base.
[]Sub option: Write in how many Destroids and Valkyrie's you wish to base their.
Time: 1 month. Reward: Granite City military base
Note: 212 Valkyrie's and 82 Destroids available.
