Walker's air defense armament puts her firmly in the "not defenseless" category, but compared to her USN contemporaries, she's rather lacking.

Still going to be a surprise the first time she fires her main battery at aircraft, because no one's thought to ask her what else isn't stock, besides the Type 96 mounts where her #3 and #4 torpedo mounts used to be, and the quads she has where her Number One and Number Two triple tubes used to be.

And the Nancy. Can't forget the floatplane

The only thing that the PB-1B Nancy is good against is something like the F1M, the E8N, or Zeppelins. It's a scout and hell, while some do have a fifty caliber MG in the nose and by Blood in the Water had a water-cooled thirty-caliber in the nose standard, it's practically worthless against planes. Hell, the SOP when it came to fighting an action was either pitch it over the side or launch the damn thing.

Also besides her Type 96s, doesn't she have like four M2 Brownings and two M1919s as well for Air Defense? I mean, not the best, but certainly workable for AA firepower.

The Nancy belongs in any list of "non-standard" things Walker has.

And yeah, she's got a few M2s and .30 caliber MGs, but against modern-ish planes (in WW2 terms) they simply don't do enough damage fast enough to knock a plane out of the sky from far enough away to be useful. Hence why the M2 was eclipsed by the 20mm Oerlikon.

Yeah, those Type 96s will probably be removed at Pearl and replaced with either Bofors or Oerlikons along with a few of the M2s.

However @PAGDTenno why do I suddenly have the feeling that Dennis Silva is hiding aboard the ship somewhere? I mean I don't know why, but I do; then again it wouldn't be the first time he's pulled stunt like that, sneaking aboard ship and tagging along. He did it in I think it was Firestorm much to the dismay of nearly everyone.

What if she does know, but decided to not tell Matt? I mean, it would be a hint of a Silva imprint.

Remember that Silva doesn't disobey explicit orders from Matt. He'll twist them into a pretzel if he thinks he needs to in order to get the job done, but outright violating an order is something he won't do.

Point, but I just can't picture any Destroyermen Fanfiction without him. If anything though, it's also because I'd imagine that Silva would do something like lead a boarding action against an Abyssal Princess or something and capture the damn thing!

I would say that it also isn't a Destroyermen fic without Chack.

I would like to point you at this post:

He's explicitly ordered them not to come with him. He said nothing about not following him. Read what you will into that.

And who do you think will be at the front these surprise reinforcements?

He paused as the destroyers, except Walker, turned to leave. "Shimakaze, a moment of your time," he said, motioning Walker to wait outside.

Walker hustled the other five destroyers out, leaving only him and Shimakaze inside the office.

"Shimakaze," he began, "I don't know what the uniform regulations are here, and I don't much care. I expect you to dress professionally while on duty. Which means I expect, before we leave for Pearl in two days time, that you will have obtained proper underwear and a skirt that is not a glorified belt."

Shimakaze started. "But! Extra weight slows you down! Gotta be faster!"

Matt Looked at her. "Shi. Ma. Ka. Ze. You displace two thousand five hundred tons. A few ounces for a skirt and underwear that doesn't look like what an Olongapo dancer would wear will not slow you down."

Shimakaze opened her mouth to protest further, before noticing the hard set to his face. Bowing, however gracelessly, to the inevitable, she snapped her mouth shut and nodded acceptance as she blew loudly through her nose in frustration. Matt chose to ignore it.

So, I recently found something... /posts/2622579

That technically follows Matt's orders to wear more cloths right?

Honestly, what bothers him about her current clothing is the probability of flashing everyone in eyesight if she turns too fast.

He'd actually be less bothered if she was topless.

Thanks, 'Cats.

Yeah, he would. Although, I bet his skill with a sword will probably impress a lot of people. Particularly when they hear about the duel to the death that he won.

Two words. Battle Coat. Sortie with it on to look more fancy then when you get into combat and IT'S SHOW TIME!! Throw it off all dramatic and kick it into full speed.

Well well well well. Glad I found this. That said, I'm waiting for Salissa to come through, making happy little smoke puffs. This is then followed by ye old smirk at Amagi: "psst, hey! Got any spare ten inch ammo?"

Cue admiral aneurysms.

They removed the 10-inch gun section after The First Battle of Madrass so Admiral Keje wouldn't be able to use his CV as a Battleship again.

If I remember this correctly, Keje.. wasn't to happy at that. He liked using Big Sal as a battleship. His crew disagreed.
...Damnit!

Fixed in chapter. The name that always stuck with me is Silva's nickname.
There's nothing wrong with using Silva's nickname..

If I'd been calling Hidoiame "Hoody-Yammy", yeah. But I'm using her actual name.
