It's fun trying to take a more nuanced view of Kaga's relationship with Zuikaku than the anime did.

Not that that's a particularly high bar, mind. But it creates potential for scenes like this, which to me are much more interesting than the ones in the anime. Especially the kill-stealing scene, which to me felt very out of character for Kaga.
 
Remember, USN/Union of Trees ships specifically fly the US Navy ensign, as they are property of the "US Navy" Clan.

Answering this isn't spoilers, so...

Walker's... crew spectres, I'll call them, are universally human, when you can tell their species. Which you usually can't. These are the half-visible crew that are only visible when they're actually doing something. Some are unusually short, but spectres aren't fully visible even to other shipgirls.

Her fairies (different group entirely) are, as one might expect, mixed 'Cat, human, and (very few)Sa'aran.

Considering it seemed like Walker was retired and a museum ship in the first chapter, I'd wager stuff like that has been handled in story and won't be brought up because Destroyerman spoilers.

Also, another thought.

What happens if/when this Earth's Walker is summoned and the Walkers meet?

Or Walker runs into this Earth's Mahan and has a sorta reunion?

Oh, you mean the shipgirl. Unknown if she's back yet, from the sounds of things, the bulk of the USN has not been resummoned yet. Which makes sense, since otherwise the Abyssals ar ein for a world of pain considering the numbers and capabilities involved with the USN circa 1945.

I'm waiting for Johnston and her group, along with Walker, to wreck the Abyssals day.

Wonder if the Battleship Cove group's become a squad or not. And hey Hiddensee better be watching the Cove while they're away.

I presume Houston came back as she was too stubborn to accept the idea that she was scraped. So first chance she got she came back for another go.
