Renegade Incubator Quest (PMMM)

Oriko's not on the list.

That could mean this is a timelime right after Oriko Magica, just when Homura still has her hard-on against O&K and is going around killing them at the start of every timeline just to be sure. If so, Kirika just might disappear soon.

[X] Higure

Plan Renars has us trying to contact Homura when she's most likely isn't stable. I'd rather not get shot.

just when Homura still has her hard-on against O&K and is going around killing them at the start of every timeline just to be sure
Is this canon, or plausible fanon (plausible since it explains O&K not showing up during the main timeline)?

2. @Spectral Waltz can we write what to say AND what actions to take? I mean you won't write only what we write, but something else as well, right?

Yeah you can write in actions as well, if a vote gets too insane I may veto it or ask it to be toned down but yeah, the nature of a write in is that you get to make up the details yourself.

Well... A wiki tells me that Oriko contracted on the 16th, 9 days before this quest started. However, nothing has been terribly clear on when Kirika contracted, only that it was some time after Oriko. And we know at least in part that the events of Oriko magica do take place alongside the events of Madoka. So (hoping this isn't wrong) I thought it might make sense that Kirika could potentially have not contracted yet, though in the normal timeline she would be contracting soon.

If Oriko hadn't contracted yet she would be on the list in the top ten, second or third position at least.

Today is day two of the con, so I'm not gonna be closing the votes any time soon. However, I will throw a tally in here so y'all can see how things are going.

Interesting plans so far...

I'm thinking we should probably start by making sure Mami stays as safe as she can. This is a fluff quest, but this a risky point in it. We want to help, but we don't want to give ourselves away too early.

You're capable, Mami, but if you get distracted, someone might get hurt, including you. Having someone else to support you might mitigate that risk. Any thoughts on that?"
If you're going for the "stealth route" then you should definitely avoid the word "feel", or indeed any hint that you do have feelings, hunches, etc. The Incubators are unable to feel emotions, and are indeed quite vocal about that fact; if you suddenly reverse course on that Mami and Homura are sure to notice quickly that something's different. We really need to show Homura that things are definitively looking better, before we let her cotton on to why they're better.

Hm. Still a little heavy on the feels; you're showing an intuitive grasp of emotional heuristics that the Incubators are very explicitly not capable of.

That said, your vote is actually very similar to simply adding on to @Higure's, so maybe consider just adding straight-on to his, like so:

The anime convention is wonderful, votes will probably be closing once I get home in around 4 or 5 hours.

I feel I shouldn't need to say this, but given the sheer variety of plans discussed so far, I will say it anyways. Take your time, think about your plan, remember that every time you act, the butterflies start to flap their wings.

Choose your path forward wisely...

"A moment if you please?"

After having been silent for much of the remainder of the discussion after your little episode the girls are startled to see you pad up behind them as Mami sees them out the door. You give Madoka and Sayaka a solemn look, or at least you try to since your face seems determined to twist into that cutely bland smile when you aren't paying attention to it, like some sort of horrifying reverse resting bitch face.

You cut that train of thought off as Sayaka tilts her head. "Neh Kyubey... You sure you're alright?"

"Quite sure... I just have to tell you one thing before you go." It is difficult to hit that appropriate note of solemnity for what you are about to say while still keeping up that 'default' tone but you do your best. "The life of a magical girl isn't easy and the job you are asked to perform is demanding. Magical girls who make wishes that aren't what they truly desire inevitably end up with regrets, so think carefully, and be sure that you know what you want before you do it."

A moment of silence follows your pronouncement. Madoka looks thoughtful, while Sayaka looks slightly taken aback, though the latter rallies faster than the former. "Yosh! Not to worry! I'll be sure to think super carefully on it!" Madoka nods too. "We'll be sure to think carefully. Good night Kyubey, Mami-san."

The door closes behind them, and for a few minutes there is a pleasant silence, or well... Relatively pleasant anyways. While you listen to Mami bustling about cleaning up the remnants of the little tea party you decide to try and actively dip into this knowledge pool you seem to have in your head.

...in effect, any being with this 7th dimensional structure (see: SOUL) within them is capable of producing energy from nothing, thus allowing for the reversal of entropy. However, two issues present themselves. First and most important is that the three-dimensional forms of these beings create shells around their SOUL preventing it from exerting significant force on the known universe. Thus a container that can allow the SOUL to remain coherent within our universe yet does not block it's interactions with our universe is necessary in order to unlock it's energy-producing potential.

The second issue is that while the SOUL can interact with the outside world once freed of it's body. The mind is still necessary in order to stimulate energy production. We have determined that this is due to a curious quality of SOUL-bearing life forms wherein their SOULs interact with their minds to generate something they call 'emotions'. The entanglement that results from the production of 'emotions' is what allows the mind to unleash the power of the soul into this world when appropriately prepared. However, entanglement often ceases to function at even relatively insignificant dista-

"Kyubey-san?"

You jump slightly, looking up at a crouching Mami Tomoe as she kneels down next to you, looking worried. "You can tell me if something is wrong, right? After you were acting weird earlier..."

Seems she's still a little hung up on that earlier huh... You suppose she is supposed to have known the incubator for a while right?

What do you tell her?

No need to act weirdly around Mami, but we do need to spend time with her. We just have to keep the signs of the change low-key instead of advertising it everywhere and everywhen.

Also, investigate Kirika so we can know about Oriko. That, and Kyoko through Yuma. I actually have no idea who Kanon is, but she's #2 on the list so she could be important.

@Spectral Waltz Exposition, but it's nice how you also got the casts interaction with Kyubey. Especially his/its(?) reaction, makes it really like human that tries to be "less Incubator" while pretending to be an Incubator... if that makes any sense...

Huh, this might actually be a problem. I know that quantum mechanics more or less confirms 11 dimensions but the fact our minds interact with quantum probability classified as "SOUL"....

So the witches are a form of "materialised soul" that interacts with this reality through their "Labyrinths". Their erratic behaviour and actions can be explained that human Mind (that's build for 3-d) can't comprehend 7 dimensional world-view so it "fractures" and end result are classic 'mindless' witches and familiars. So what is Grief and how does it.... energy?
- Puella Magia by existing, feeling emotions and using their "magic" (quantum energy/matter interactions) "creates" additional energy that Incubator made Soul Gems store as "leftover Grief" that in time (without Secondary containers Grief Seeds) overwhelm mind-soul entanglement causing insanity and witching out?

If we consider this as a working model then.... hmmm, conflict (physical and emotional) causes to accelerate the production of 'leftover' energy...
I think there's a solution that I'm missing... Anything to add?

Anyway about the vote:

[ ] "In truth? I don't know exactly what's the problem, but it's nothing major. When I find what's wring, I'll let her know at once"

Mostly? I spent a while thinking about how to put together a semi-scientific model of why the energy production works the way it does. Basically, the soul is a higher dimensional bundle of stuff that entangles with the human mind. However, the human body overlapping with the soul to contain it prevents it from interacting with our standard perceivable dimensions. The soul gem removes that limitation by placing the soul in a less restrictive container.

That said, while this interaction allows the creation of energy from nothing, it still produces waste, which can build up within the soul. While normally that waste would simply remain contained along with the soul inside a human body, with the soul removed from the body, the same vessel that allows the soul to express itself in the lower dimensions also has an inherently weaker means of containment and no way of venting excess waste naturally beyond interaction with grief seeds. Thus, too much buildup causes the containment to fail, subsequently create a witch and barrier.

I dunno if that was exactly what you were getting at, but that's the take on it I'm aiming for in this quest. Basically, the reason the cycle exists as it is is because defying entropy requires use of magic. Use of magic requires a soul gem. Use of a soul gem requires grief seeds to prevent creation of witches but also witches are the only way to get grief seeds.

That's what you know for now, I just didn't want to write out the entire article because I felt it would run a tad long and be unpleasantly dry to read.
